Q: Lenovo Y50-70 battery not working

Hello, I recently replaced the battery of my Y50-70 laptop because my battery wasnt working anymore.I bough a new one online an I installed it on my laptop but its not working properly, when I disconnect the charger, after 1 minute approximately my laptop turns off suddenly. I tried a lot of things to make it work, I uninstalled and installed new drivers for power managment, I updated my BIOS, I ran diagnostics on my battery, but nothing worked, my laptop still turns off one minute after I disconnect the charger. The battery model I used to have is L13N4P01The new model i bought online is L13N4P02 The L13N4P02 model has small diferences but is supposed to be compatible with my laptop, so I dont know whats causing the problem.Any suggestions are welcome

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Battery is in dire need of calibration.

A:My Lenovo G50-45 Not working on battery.

Dear Areef,

Welcome in lenovo community,

Please try to,

1- shutdown the laptop >> unplug the charger >> Remove the battery >> Hold the power button for 20 Seconds.2- Connect the charger only >> Hold the power button for 10 seconds.
Check after that if the laptop will work with the battery or not,
If not, please check what is the battery notification says on the system tray, and tell us what is the operating system running on this laptop.

Joseph

I have a Y50-70 laptiop that I purchased in 2015 that has been working well up until recently. I've had the laptop mostly (Last 5-6 months) stay plugged in to use as a gaming computer. I've been using the "Conservation Mode" in Energy Manager and that has been working as intended.Over the last year the cable on the included charger broke. (The cable was chewed in half courtesy of my friend's dog). We sought out to buy a replacement, to find that the exact model was not for sale. We then got a Lenovo charger of the same specifications.I used that for around 4 months, and just two days ago I noticed that my computer was no longer charging. I wiggled around the cord to see if it was a connection error, and found that it would only charge in a certain position. I let my battery run out and the next day we tried again. I powered the computer on (Somehow it charged overnight) and then Energy Manager gave me an error of "The power adapter does not match up with the computer and cannot supply power". I figured it was a faulty connection becuase of the awkward way the cable had to be positioned.I then tried a different Lenovo charger from a Yoga notebook (Same charger type, just lower power rating) and found that the battery would only charge while the computer was shut off.I went to read on these forums and found a solution that involved removing the battery and holding the power button to "reset" the charge. That didn't work and only made the problem worse. Now, Energy Manager ... Read more

The laptop USB ports stopped working. So I cannot charge via the USB charging port. First things first, I backed up all the files I need and hoping that I will still have enough charge to troubleshoot. But I don't have the luxury anymore. I cannot power up the laptop. Anyways to charge the battery externally? Or any other solution to charge the battery so I can at least power up the laptop and troubleshoot?

So this whole conundrum started with something getting stuck in the fan. As far as I could tell, you had to remove the motherboard to get to the fans so I took apart the whole laptop and put it back together. It worked fine for a day, but then it stopped charging (still works while plugged in) and now the speakers don't work. Only thing that makes sense to me is that it's the motherboard, but I don't really understand why. Any thoughts/ideas?

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

Hello, everyone. When operating my Lenovo C930 Yoga, as soon as my battery reaches full charge, the keyboard and mouse stop working. When I detach the charging cable from the compuer, voila! The keyboard and mouse start working again. It's a weird problem, and kind of frustrating, because to operate the computer's keyboard and mouse I have to be decharching, even if power is available. Any other C930 Yoga users experience this? Anyone have a solution? Thanks!

Hi! I have 4 years old Lenovo Yoga Ideapad 13.  The problems started couple weeks ago, when the computer wouldn't run or start up without being plugged in. I followed some other people's advice and got a new battery. It seemed to fix to problem for while. Now few weeks after the same problem stands with the new battery. It won't start or run, but when plugged in it says the battery is 100% and charging.   I tried checking if the charger isn't working, but it charges all fine on my other Yoga, which has the same charger model. So please note that this isn't the common problem that is seen here on the forums, that the battery doesnt charge. I'm pretty frustrated, as this problem persists even though I changed the battery. Anyone have ideas? I figured it could have something to do with the battery wire connecting battery to the motherboard, but there doesn't seem to be any defects or loose wires.  However, I tried taking off the battery connection wire when plugged in, and then I get the message "No battery detected" instead of the regular "100% Fully charged". Any help is appreciated.

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Battery Issue - Lenovo V570 (Laptop) - Battery Model L09S6Y02

First off I for the most part do not use the battery. It is normally detached from the laptop. I only attach it to periodically charge it and test prior existing charges' performance.

O.K. here is the problem. I attach battery attachment, computer does not make it to the window screen more often than not. When it does, it freezes at the please wait loading screen.

I rarely use the battery at all, but I want all my equipment up and functional. It's life should still be good for I periodically recharge it. I think since I've had the laptop I've only recharged it a total of 6 or 7 times and that's been a year or so.

I, for the moment at least have the battery working power adapter attached. What did I do? I uninstalled Avast (freeware version) ?

I learned from prior experience that running two of any system utility software can cause problems, but it normally restricts itself to what it is protecting. Then I remembered: "If you remove the possible whatever is left however in probable must be the truth."

Next phase of testing is test the battery on it's own.

Despite the manufacturer's claim of 7 hours battery life on my Lenovo Ideapad 320S-14IKB - 81BN (S/N: MP1CHQTJ), I only get around 3-4 hours. This is with light usage, Reddit, a little bit of youtube etc. CPU usage was mostly around 0-5% the entire time. This was with the max CPU state in power settings reduced from 100% to 85%. However, I do have the screen at 100% brightness. As a different test, I tried doing (almost) nothing (apart from keeping the screen bright), and got 6 hours out of the battery. Is there a simple solution to increase this? It's only a 30 Wh battery (2 cell). Maybe in the future, a 60 Wh (4 cell?) one will come out for this model?

I am struggling with this for a while now. In Hungary we basically have no Lenovo support. My Yoga 2 is considered old but still a very-very good laptop. The Energy Manager complains that the battery is old and I can see it in its performance as well unfortunately. I tried several sellers on Ebay but I keep getting some crappy quality, usually old, refurbished like (but it does not work at all) batteries. I want a real ORIGINAL Lenovo battery that is BRAND NEW (not manufactured in 2014), that is a real stuff, not just a sticker on the outside, crap in the inside. Could you please help me?

Ever since yesterday I've had this problem, I tried several solutions and none of them worked. Basically the problem is: The laptop only works on battery now. When the battery is at 0% the laptop turns off even if the AC is plugged in. To make matters worse, when the laptop is on I get this message "plugged, not charging". So basically the AC no longer works by itself and only charges the battery when the laptop is off. Here is what I tried so far:- Changing the settings on the Lenovo Energy Mangement tool- Uninstalling the Lenovo Energy Mangement tool - Taking off the battery and AC, pushing the power button for 30 seconds, putting them back in and turning on the laptop.- Starting the laptop on safe mode- Praying to God None of these things worked. I recently purchased an x230 and everything is perfect but the battery fit.  It moves up and down slightly.  I know there are many posts in the lenovo forums for all different models that the battery fits lose in "x" model and solutions of putting paper / foam / tape to make the battery fit tighter.   What I'm wondering is if anyone has actually had the problem fixed by lenovo.  I've read a few posts where a user has had the base piece of the case replaced (where the battery fit's into) and that has solved the problem.  I'm still within my return period on my x230 and am awaiting a call back from tech support to see if there is anything they will do but I don't think I will keep it if they can't fix it.   I'm just curious has anyone actually had luck by replacing the base piece.  From what i've read a replacement battery hasn't worked for anyone.  Also, I know everyone says its by design for thermal purposes but I haven't actually seen any official confirmation of this from lenovo.   Thanks.

A:Battery Loose / Battery wiggle in x230 and LENOVO ...

As a follow up, I'm just curious if this is a widespread issue?  Anyone have loose battery in their x230 / x220?  I'm not talking about it falling out...but just a few millimeters of wiggle room.  Basically when i pick mine up or place it down, I can feel / hear the battery move.  I'm just trying to get an idea if this is a real problem or thats just how every thinkpad is.  I called support and they are sending someone to replace the base panel and we'll see if that fixes it.  I'll update this post when it get's replaced.   Edit* I also asked the lenovo support rep if they had heard of this issue and they said no, never.  I don't see how this is possible as if you do a google search for thinkpad loose battery there are many results.

Hi Moksa,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It may be hard to say as because of the age of the model but you can try calling in EMEA parts sales desk for your region (Hungary 30 722-37-91). On the battery sticker is also the battery manufacturer which you can try but I am not as optimistic for newer manufactured battery.

I would say that as long as they provide the standard battery one year warranty, then it would be a good option to go.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Hopefully I get a solution to this question but my Lenovo Y50 has not been charging even after I thought it was my laptop charger was broken I bought a new one of the same exact type and It still didn't work and did the exact same thing as it did with my old charger. (i had this laptop for a year) What did the laptop exactly do? Well my laptop when I plugged it in it didn't work unless I set it up in a certain way to where I wiggled the charger tip around untill it finally said It was charging and I had to hold it into that position like a statue or else it would unplug if it moved an inch. That's not even the worst part! My chargers also heat at the tip. By heat I mean it literally gets so hot I burn myself on touching the plastic part and the metal part was very hot, when this happened on my new charger I made sure to unplug it right away to avoid doing any damage to it. Solutions I have already tried:Went into my control panel -> device manager -> Uninstalled both of the battery things like the ac adapter and the other thing I don't remember what it was called -> reinstalled -> Worked for a bit but not 100% gauranteed and after a while it didn't work Can't do a battery gauge reset because charger always unplugs Already tried BIOS does nothing. Don't even tell me to restart my laptop lol. Summary:Y50 won't charge, Have to have charger at certain angle to chargeTip over heatsdid everything in device manager to fix itno driver up... Hello! I am new to Lenovo and picked up my 1st laptop yesterday when my HP died. I have always had HP and grew tired of how easy they break & poor battery life, so I wanted to try a different band. I love the computer, the keyboard, track pad & screen are amazing. I bought the ideapad 320-15IAP for about $330 (Including tax) The specs at the store advertised 4.5-5 Hours of battery life, but I have not been able to get a charge better than 2 hours. For someone that uses my laptop at work and on the go, this will not do. Can any one offer up any advice? Does lenovo sell stronger batteries for ideapad that I can replace with this current battery?  My next issue is the Windows 10 update that you are forced to do, I have been trying to install it since 9PM last night, it is now 9PM tonight, a full 24 hours, and it has not fully installed. I have done my fair share of google searches and many people have had these same issues too, but no good solutions outside of deep computer hacking, I don't want to have to do that on a brand new computer. Thanks for any and all help!

Hello there!

I have an ASUS K50IE laptop that i had for 2 years now. been working fine until 2 days ago.

this problem has been bugging me for the last 2 days. here's why.

my laptop suddenly didn't detect my battery. thought it was because my battery was dead. I searched the net on things to do before "throwing in the towel" on my battery and today i came across a blog where the instruction was to uninstall the Microsoft ACPI compliant control method battery driver. I did just that and my battery suddenly worked! well sort of. now here's where it gets all weird.

every time i open my laptop i do the following:

1. plug in AC to laptop.
2. turn on laptop.
3. unplug AC.
3. laptop runs on battery.
4. log on to windows.
5. battery icon shows up as an empty charging icon then shows the "Battery is not detected" icon again.

please take note that my laptop is still ON and WORKING. so this means (MAYBE?) that my battery is working.

is it a battery problem? or the driver is just messed up?

please anyone who encountered this and had SUCCESSFULLY fixed the problem. coz i need to fix this right now.

thanks and more power to you all!

A:Windows 7 ACPI doesn't detect battery but battery is working

I had a problem similar a while back. Try this
1.Shut down the laptop
2.Take out the ac cord and the battery. Hold down the power for about 10 seconds to remove electric charge in the capacitors.
3.Put the battery back in and reboot.

I always used to be an HP customer and thought would give it a go with Lenovo so I got myself a Yoga 910. I am out of warranty, called support and have been quoted $1500 AUD for  anew motherboard which is not even on stock and no one in their right mind would give that sort of money for such a piece of garbage. The symptoms:It started a random day out of the blue. When the battery was around 30% I plugged in the charger and the laptop started acting as if I was periodically at every second unplugging and replugging the DC adapter meanwhile the charging led was blinking at the same frequency every second. I heard the plug in sound and the screen became brighter every 2 seconds. Unfortunately even when the laptop was turned off itwasn't charging the battery at all so after experimenting with all possible solutions with uninstalling and deactivating charging drivers which didn't work my battery was fully drained and now my premium looking laptop is pretty much good to be thrown out. I know it has nothing to do with sleep mode and all or other software related settings. It's not a charger issue because I tried another charger and another power socket as well. It's not a contact issue with the charging port because it's following the same pattern no matter how I hold or don't hold the plug to the charging port. I could  get the laptop to work only through the battery connectors. When the battery is removed then it's just completely dead. The charging led w... Read more

I recently purchased a used EliteBook 2740p and was disappointed at the battery life (probably due to years of use on the battery), so I decided to buy an Ultra-slim battery to maximize my battery life. Today, it arrived in the mail and I plugged it in only to find it doesn't seem to work. When I plug it in with the internal battery still installed, the battery (lightning bolt) LED starts to flash amber and for the most part, does not stop until I remove it. In Windows, the internal battery shows up as "Battery 2" and reports nothing installed for Battery 1. If I only have the external battery installed, the computer will not power on without the power adapter plugged in, and the computer reports no batteries installed. I have tried resetting the computer as instructed by another post on here (unplug power and all batteries and hold the power button for ~20 seconds), but that did not help. I can't find any kind of battery diagnostic tests within BIOS settings so I'm not really sure if this is an issue with the computer or the battery. I bought the battery used but the seller guaranteed it was tested and that it worked. Do I need to use the docking station to charge it? My guess is no since it has its own battery connection, but I can't really find much information about it. There is a button on the front of the battery with a battery icon on it but it doesn't seem to make any difference (I've tried both tapping it and holding it down).

I have a strange issue. I have a Lenovo T60 laptop and I am experiencing problems with the power management/power guage.

It will often show the battery not installed (power gauge is a greyish-white color with dashed lines) or it shows a red X. It does not matter if I am on AC power or on Battery power, it will show the full range of power, battery level, not installed, or an error.

I have searched Lenovo's site and I seem to remember seeing an FAQ about this, but now that I need it, I cannot find it.

What can I check or do to stop this? While it is annoying, I am not sure if I am having a battery problem or not. I did check my battery on Lenovo's site to see if it was recalled and it is not.

I do appreciate any help that any one can give me.

Thanks!

I recently bought a ThinkPad X240s with Windows 10 installed by the previous owner. I installed the Lenovo Settings app, which works well except for one thing: Every hour or so, a message pops up saying that Battery 2 is not installed. The X240s has only one battery - there is no battery 2, and no way to install battery 2. Is there any way to tell Lenovo Settings that this machine has only one battery? Or is it possible to file a bug reporting this problem? Windows 10 is definitely supported by Lenovo on the X240s, so I hope this can be fixed. Thanks for any help or advice.

Dear All,I have Lenovo Thinkpad T460S purchased almost a year ago. Today I suddenly faced problem in charging battery. Charger is plugged in and battery icon is showing "plugged in, charging" but actually it is charging very slowly. Normally battery is charged in one hour or so but today it took more than one hours to reach only 24% or so. Furthermore, soon after plugging in, battery icon shows "filling in process" for few seconds then stopped i.e no filling in process. Furthermore, after whole night charging, battery is now 94% charged, battery 2: 100% charged, fully charged; battery 1: 0% charged, not charging (please attached images). Please guide how to get rid of this problem?Thanking in advance. Shahid

Hello!I have 2 problems that have happened before and after wiping the laptop and reinstalling W10 they go away. But when the battery runs out they come back after recharging.
Originally this machine was running 8.1 and these issues were not present.I've gone into F5 and run the Pre-boot System Assessment and everything says it's fine? Confusing.
1. When booting up I get the message "Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available."

I select F2, go to Battery Information and the AC Adapter = Unknown.
The little light on my adapter is a solid white so it is in fact charging.

2. If I select F1 and go into the laptop ignoring the adapter warning the mouse pad does not work.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and still have the same problem.
I've also checked to see if it's locked, it's not.
I've tried plugging in a mouse and it doesn't work either, only touch screen

Like I said, if I wipe the computer and reinstall Windows 10 the laptop works fine in both laptop and tablet mode, but if the battery runs low and turns off these 2 issues come back. Any ideas besides reinstalling w10?

A:Latitude 7350 battery "unknown" & mouse pad not working after battery ran low

I have exactly the same issue. Did you find a solution?

I have a Dell inspiron 15 M5010 and i recently bought a new battery. It's not a Dell battery but a Ninja Battery. As i started charging it i noticed it doesn't charge. I thought it was a defective battery so the company sent me a new one. It didn't make a difference.
Is it my AC Adapter? or because i need a Dell battery? I tried everything except update the BIOS because it needs at least 10% battery to run. Sadly i have 5%. Please help.
