My Comp Keeps Crashing!!! Right when it starts up!!!

Q: My Comp Keeps Crashing!!! Right when it starts up!!!

Please help, my computer crashes randomly, when i say freezing, i mean the screen turns blue and it makes the computer restart, where i have the option of starting windows normally or in safe mode or save mode with networking. I chose safe mode with networking and things have been working ok like this, Its not when i open any specific program, it can happen as soon as my computer starts up or after my comp been working for a while. Also, since this started happening, my internet expolorer doesnt work anymore, it will usually say that internet exploror has stopped working and windows is checking for a solution, which it never finds, and it shuts it down. i have to use google chrome to get on the internet. I dont know anything about computers, i tried to restore it to an earlier date but it wont let me do that and everytime i turn on my computer the normal way (im in safe mode now) an error sign from norton comes up saying 5013,3 is wrong with it and how to fix it, but that didnt work either. Someone please help me, i have no idea how to fix this and this seems like a good website filled with people who know what they are doing. Oh, so everyone knows, i am computer illiterate. Thank you sooo much!!! Amandabanana

Preferred Solution: My Comp Keeps Crashing!!! Right when it starts up!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Yeah, this is my second computer build. For some reason, the computer won't start up a BIOS or boot menu. I'm 99% sure that the parts are securely fastened. I'm also 100% sure they're fastened correctly. The computer starts up, the fans run, mobo's LED light turns on, HD runs floppy works, cd-rom works, but all I see is a black screen. The keyboard LED's dont turn on (they always flicker or turn on or something when a computer starts up with it). I'm not completely sure if it's the motherboard that's messed up or something, or if I have something incompatible.

Simon's Rig as is:

ASUS P5S800-VM Socket T (LGA 775) SIS 661FX Micro ATX
Kingston ValueRAM 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered

ati radeon 9600xt *it works, its my old one

Newegg links should give you product info, lol. Save yourself time.

I'm not sure what the heck is going on with my comp, but it's just a black screen when everything's plugged in together and turned on.

I need help on this matter before I go absolutely insane.

A:new comp: starts, but nothing shows up

my guess is its 3 possible things not working (that is if evrything is hooked up correctly) either

1. Motherboard isnt working
2. Ram isnt working
3. Harddrive isnt working

I checked all the parts and they seem compatible. Im guessing that its the motherboard that isnt working. It happened to me also, the led was on on the mobo, but nothing on the screen. My advice is call the company (asus) and tell them whats going on, they will probablly ask you to send yours in, then they will send it back. if you look on newegg, it says its only covered by the manufacture (again thats asus).

To save you some time heres the asus info you need to call:

A:help, comp starts but soon shuts off

First of all, you need to go back into the CMOS settings (what you call the BIOS) and RE-CHECK everything. Make only ONE CHANGE at a time, and document EVERYTHING you do! Then save the settings, and exit the CMOS. Reboot the system and see what happens. Does the computer make any MORE progress or not? Did you make things WORSE or BETTER? This will be a trial-and-error process until you can determine whether or not this is a hardware problem, an OS problem, or something else entirely.

If I had to GUESS, I think you're going to have to let the CMOS re-detect the IDE drive(s). From what you've posted, I think you've made a CHANGE to the SIZE of the C: partition, and the CMOS doesn't know about it yet.

PLEASE remember to post whatever you do to correct this, and if this has been any help to you at all. Without knowing which motherboard you're using, I can only SWAG this answer.

Good luck - HTH

OK,

Yesterday I decided to take my power supply and heatsink fan out for a cleaning, becuz it was soundin pretty bad. I put everything back together and started it up. literally 2min after i started it ( and it's beginning to start windows ) the comp shuts down without warning... the weird thing is, the comp shuts down (all fans, motherboard, monitor, cd roms, harddrives, everything ) but the blue led power light stays on... i'll hit the switch at the back and it takes maybe 30 sec for the light to turn off... i'm soooo confused... like i cleaned the fans like i normally do... didn't do anything different...

i'm just trying to find out what might be wrong with it... i know there's the chances of it jus being the thermal compound, or the power supply. any other ideas?

how much does that thermal compound run for anyways?

gawd this is so confusing and frustrating, i'm stuck with my lil sis's comp. 256 ram, YUCK...

The first one is related to Norton Internet Security Suite.

The second one sounds like malware. You're probably infected.

Click here to download Hijack This: http://thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe

Let it extract to C:\Program Files

Close out any open browsers

It more annoying than a problem.

Im running my acer aspire x3200 through a sony HD TV with a HDMI cable.

now when ever I update my realtek it disables the HDMI cable and assumes im using speakers so i had to disable the realtek high def audio speakers setting (as it wasnt plugged in)

now when ever I turn on the comp it thinks no audio is plugged in so I have to always click on the device advanced settings within realtek manager and make it search for it. of course it picks it up but its annoying now.

any suggestions on how to set it once and for all on my HDMI cable?

My laptop comp always froze everytime the cpu cooling fan starts making noises. I think the problem is related to an program/appliocation or server that catched a virus through it. I had the laptop fixed once from the shop and the problem still exist with continuing usage of the same applications/programs. Can somebody help me check and get rid of the virus or at least prevent the comp from freezing again?

Hi all, I'm experiencing a strange problem with my new P50: pressing f8 crashes the laptop, after which it doesn't boot up again; I have to remove the power cable and reinsert it. But this only lets me load windows for about five seconds, after which the same happens again. Startup repair does nothing to help; trying to restore windows to a previous point ends up in a failure; only thing that has helped is complete reset of Windows. But I'd like to find out if there's anything else I can do after pressing f8 again (previously, I didn't realize it was caused by f8, but thought it was the software I was using at the time). I'm running my laptop without a battery, because batteries can't be sent by mail; it was sent to me from abroad. Could this be a factor, or is the model supposed to work fine without a battery? Thanks for any help!

Hi all,
I have a problem with my sister's computer, which used to be mine like 5 years ago.
DualCore Intel Pentium E2140, 1600 MHz, Gigabyte P4M900. 2,5 GB ram DDR2.
I had screen resolution problems with a new monitor last year and a BIOS update fixed it right way, so it's updated.

Fresh install of Win7 Ultimate x64, 4 days ago.
As soon as I open IE 10 it crashes right away, no matter if the home page is set up or it's blank. And it will reopen and crash again in an endless loop until I close it.
I read somewhere that it might be a problem with memory, and I kinda suspected that because I had some BSODs back then with WinXP. I ran Memtest86+ for 16 hours, 14 passes, and no errors were found.
I even tried using just one of the memory modules (one is 2gb and other 512mb), and swapping the slots. Same error.

I'm guessing some hardware issue or driver conflict? I really don't know.
This is the same exact system I installed in my mom's PC 2 weeks ago and also mine like a year ago and we have the same apps and it's alright.
My sister's PC barely has apps installed, just avast! antivirus, MS Office 2010, Adobe Reader and Java; nothing else.

Can't help much without the dump(s). This should be posted in the BSOD thread.

The error code 0x2 (DEVICE_QUEUE_NOT_BUSY) is usually associated with incompatible hardware or drivers. It will sometimes show up when users install outdated drivers to support old hardware or try to use new drivers for old hardware. Was there any new hardware installed?

Also, Un-install Java unless there's a need for it. And it doesn't appear that the PC needs it with the noted software. Java is full of malware holes. You might have her update the AV and run a full scan too.

Hello,

After I start Windows 7, some programmes (e.g. Kaspersky, MS One Drive and BBC iplayer download) crash. Kaspersky and MS One Drive crash as they start. The BBC IPlayer download works but when I try to enlarge the screen, a message comes up saying 'BBC iPlayer Downloads.exe has stopped working' and the programme closes itself.

Just to briefly explain the background to this problem, after my Windows 7 auto update last week, my AMD Radeon 7400M display driver (14.100.0.0, version 17th April 2014) failed to work. So, I tried to upgrade the display driver. The problem started to deepen as I tried different things to rectify the problem. I ended up uninstalling the Flash Driver, and the problem did not go away, so I reinstalled it. To cut the long story short, I ended up going to the HP website and reinstalling the original switchable display driver (AMD 7470 and Intel (R) Graphics Family) the laptop came with.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me find the solution.

Hi, recently (after a 'critical' update) turning my Laptop on on the startup screen before you enter your password the cursor spins and doesn't show the log in box, it then proceeds to flash continuously (blue and black, not bsod) while not letting me do anything.

I can start the machine up in Safe Mode, but it's now stopped connecting to the internet in safe mode with networking.

I'm running Windows 7 Home x64bit and I'm on a Dell Studio XPS.

I can't system restore and I don't know where my windows boot disk is. (Any idea where I can get another without having to shell out...?)

Cheers for the help.

A:Windows 7 crashing on start up! Only starts up in Safe Mode

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Not sure where to post this but after playing World of Warcraft or too much multimedia playing, comp would crash. It would just freeze up.

It all started when I fooled around with Regedit and played around with the memory management and page pool size settings etc. I've set it back to what it was before but that didnt seem to have done anything.

Im thinking it had something to do with that or perhaps memory if not overheating.

How can I pinpoint my problem more?

Any scanners I can download etc?

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

last week I started having random crash issues (when turning on comp after leaving it in sleep), it seemed to have a long pause when turning on, i would get a message that boot failed from BIOS, I would reset and it would start up the 2nd time with "windows did not shutdown properly" message, I also had other issues appear so I re-installed windows about a week back...well.. went to turn on comp tonight and nothing was happening for a while, then eventually it started with the "Windows did not shutdown properly" message... I left the computer in a sleep state last night, she used it this afternoon, she said she went too shutdown but it reported I was logged in so she walked away from it, so it should sleep after 10 minutes...

...anyway, when it started the avast service was running and set to automatic in the services menu...I had this service set too manual in both her and my account with the tray icon set not too load either - basically I dont have it running but I have it installed so i can load it when I want with my ON/OFF scripts... the event viewer doesnt say anything other than shutdown at 4pm ish was unexpected... personally I think its shutdown illegally for some reason, but when booting immediately after one of these "crashes" it crashes again...th... Hello, not sure if this is a hardware problem or a software problem. But my brother's computer is crashes spontaneously, usually when he either runs a game or is using internet explorer(tho one time he left his computer on and left the room and came back and it was off, then he got an error message and we had to use the recovery console to fix it). Anyways, it works now, thought highly doubt it will stop from crashing again unless I do something. What steps would I take to ensure that it won't do that?

He's got windows xp home and avg free virus protector, windows defender, and I have ran the defrager, disc cleanup, scan disk, and scanned with windows defender and the avg free. Is there any other measures I can take to maybe fix an internal system error that keeps crashing his computer? or do you think its his ram cards(running dual 1 gig sticks, so 2 gigs total) or processor that's doing this?

Any help would be great. Thankyou and sorry if I posted this in the wrong category.

A:Comp keeps crashing

We would have no way of diagnosing the problem unless we have the error codes.

Do you receive a blue screen when it crashes?

Navigate to C:/Windows/minidump. If there any files there - zip them up and upload to your post.

PSU- Apevia 680W(old PSU) and Corsair CX750M(new PSU)
GPU- Radeon 6750HD(old GPU) and GeForce GTX 650TI(new GPU)
MOBO- Asus Evo AXT (about 4 years old)
RAM- 2x4GB dual-channel 1600hz corsair
My issues started when I decided to upgrade my GPU to the GeForce 650TI. I got it, plugged it in and all that goodness, but my games kept crashing. At first, my PC would say that the drivers were crashing. I, being stupid, decided to keep the card and fight through it until the drivers were updated and would be more stable. The crashes didn't stop, however. Then came the BSOD. It's constant and unpredictable. The only time it happens is when I'm gaming, but it can happen once every 5 hours or once every 20 minuets (lately, more frequently). So, I finally was able to afford a new PSU today, as everything I've read said that MUST be the problem. It didn't do anything whatsoever. SO, with the new PSU and new GPU in, I decided to put my old GPU in and see what happened. Logically, taking steps to make sure none of the drivers were overlapping, ect. I assumed it would work. Nope. New PSU and old GPU, still constantly getting blue screens, even at low video settings in the game. I'm not running other programs or background operations. No antivirus, ect. I've been into my BIOS to look at my 12v fluctuation and on the old PSU it's between 11.76 and 12.03 and on the new one it's between 11.97... Read more

Hello.

I've recently got a Packard Bell IXTREME X6618 UK
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @2.34 GHZ
Memory : 4.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit.

I've only had the computer for around about 4 months.
So it's fairly new. In the past week-2 weeks. The PC has been turning itself off randomly at any time. It only seems to switch itself off when i run a gaming program like : L4D or CSS etc.
I only last about 5-10 mins in the games until it usually turns itself off and doesn't restart.
I've run scanners and nothing is in my computer.
It has increasingly become to frustrate me as i just want to game with my friends online without having any issues.

I have to say that sometimes it runs perfectly fine for an hour or two then turns itself off, but that's only rare.
I've un-installed norton/symantec off the pc as it came out of the certain amount of months i had to use it period and i know it can cause problems.

I don't know what else could be going wrong. I have moved the computer about a few times but i've never hit it or moved it about harshly for anything inside to go wrong.

I hope to hear back asap. Thank you for your support and time.

Edit: I am also wondering if it has anything to do with my Windows Vista. I am not entirely sure of the problem, so i posted in this thread for the meantime.

I'm posting this from my brothers laptop because my comp crashes so often that i wouldn't have time to post this from my computer

Lets see if there are any recent dump files> Follow the instructions here> http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-452654.html
Lets see if the BSOD dump file(s) can tell us whats going on.

Then lets have a look at the temps and voltages >
D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).

hey guys, im having a problem with my comp and ive tried a lot to fix it but have had no luck, this is whats happening..

First, when I boot the computer, sometimes it just doesnt boot. The fan turns on, the hdd spins but nothing happens.

Then recently, i've been getting crashes. I can usually run fine for a few hours, then it crashes. No bsod, it just freezes. Then the same problem(comp wont turn on) I listed above happens, if I try like 50x in a row, eventually it'll work and windows will start.

If I leave the computer off for like 30 minutes, it will boot everytime, but even if the comp has been on for 10 minutes, i'll have to leave the computer off for like 30min before it will boot up again

Some things ive tried to fix it:
