Where on hard drive does windows live email store email attachments?

Q: Where on hard drive does windows live email store email attachments?

I can open an email and open an attachment on that email.

I can look on my harddrive and find the same email text file easily enough on my harddrive, and open that text file using notepad.

But I cannot find where the attachment(s) is stored on the harddrive? I've looked everywhere.

The reason is that I want to write a program that will archive windows live emails - and their attachments.

Thanks

Preferred Solution: Where on hard drive does windows live email store email attachments?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I have a PC with windows 7. I use Windows Live Essentials 2011 as my email program. I will be doing a systems exchange with Dell for my pc because it has an unfixable quirk but I will swap out the hard drive from my old unit to the new one (I'm sure the hard drive isn't the problem as this is the second hard drive already). Are my contacts & email messages from Windows Live on the hard drive or will I need to export?

Thanks,

When I receive image files attached to an email, I save them to the hard drive and adjust them with my graphics program.

However, I always want access to the original image in case I make a mistake when processing or in case I need to apply different adjustments for subsequent use.

Is it better to:

a) store the original on the hard drive, save the adjusted version under a new name on the hard drive, and remove the attachment from the email in Outlook inbox/archive

b) keep the attachment (ie original) stored in Outlook inbox/archive, and just save the adjusted image on the hard drive

I'm thinking primarily in terms of disk space usage, but if there are any other factors to be considered I'd like to hear them.

Many thanks.

A:What is the optimum way to store large email attachments?

Seems your question rests on just how much hard drive space you have. You probably don't save all 100% attachments. I know I save certain ones of value to me. I store them in more than just my C:\ drive, in case of failure. If you want unlimited access to the original - burn to a CD or other storage device.

While adjusting, yes make a new separate file. For instance if the original attachment is called picture.jpg - save your adjusted as picture1.jpg. If you are using Paint or Irfan, make use of undo for mistakes that you spot immediately - before even saving. That saves time and a lot of clicking.

Probably not much different regarding the size of the file whether the original is on the hard drive in a folder or still left intact attached to the email. However if you do back up emails, then bear in mind you are backing up rather huge files compare to an individual picture file.

Also, depends on the "life" of the attachment as to how I store it. If it is a picture related to emailing and then can be discarded, either A or B. Just remember to delete unnecessary copies later. Delete unnecessary emails as well.

I didn't notice this before today. I'm running the 64 bit version of Windows 10 Pro, fully up to date, as well as the latest version of Windows Live Mail. I have a bunch of storage folders that I've created for email, so my actual inboxes are pretty much always empty as any mail I want to keep gets put into a storage folder.

When I do a search inside the program, all it's searching are the email subjects, not the actual contents of the messages.

Any idea how to fix this? I know this was an issue in the 64 bit version of Windows 7, as seen here.....

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/969165

.....but I'd have thought this would have been fixed by now! Is that fix still valid for Windows 10, or is there another solution? I really don't want to have to switch to another email client if I can help it.

Thanks!

A:Windows Live Mail only searching email subjects, not email contents

I have been having the same trouble, which was just noticed...
Windows Live Mail does not search "contents" of messages anymore... just searches names and message subject line.
Hope to find an answer as I hate to switch to another mail client, but I absolutly need the search functionality.

I have an email I get on a regular basis that I can see who it's from and the subject line but the body of the email is blank. I have problems with it in WLM but I can view it just fine in web mail and from my iPhone. Not sure if it's an issue on the end of the person who's sending it or an issue with WLM but since I can view it completely in web mail and on my iPhone I would think it's something with WLM. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

A:Body of email not showing in one particular email in Windows Live Mail

Hi, I finally was able to talk with someone from the place that was sending the email in question I was having issues with. They found out their emails are not compatible with WLM but are working on a resolution. I'm not sure what kind of email service they're using but it's not like WLM is some obscure mail client. Anyway, I'm marking this as solved even though I've received a few emails from them since and still having the issue of nothing in the body of the message. Now that they've figured out what the issue is I hope they fix it soon.

I've read information regarding the steps to import email from Outlook Express (XP) into Windows Live Mail (Vista), but, my question pertains to how that works when we already have quite a bit of email in the Windows Live Mail folders. I had to temporarily swap out systems to the old XP computer while checking into a problem with the Vista system and accumulated quite a bit of new email into Outlook Express that now needs to be moved into the Windows Live Mail folders to bring that back up-to-date. Will that just be added to what is already there or will it overlay anything? Just need to know how that process will impact current contents of the email folders in the Vista PC.

Thanks.

Set up windows 7 with microsft live email. emails com in and go out ok. emails with attachemtns inbound are ok. when I send an email out with a photo ( have not triesd other attachements) it splits it up into 20 to 30 emails with jiberish and no photo and get an error notification. i have outlook on this as well and it works fine in bound and out bound. I have used the same settings. again this is only when there is a photo attached when I see this problem. Anyone have any suggestions?

A:windows live email splitting up email w/ attachement

Just a guess. But, I think it is your ISP. Somtimes they limit what cant be sent out with POP, to stop spam. For your information there are two ways to send a photo; as an attachment and as part of the email. You may want to look into that.

I'm sure this has been answered but I cant seem to locate it. Bought a new computer with Windows 7. Followed other recommendations and copied all email from my old computer (outlook express) to flash drive. Opened Windows Live Mail and went to File/Import/Message - Choose Microsoft Outlook 6 as format to import email from. Choose the file on the desktop that I had created and filled with the emails from the flash drive. Selected "all folders". It then imported all the various folders and emails from the desktop folder. Got the message that my folders were imported in Outlook 6 format. Clicked finished. Now comes the weird part. When I go to Windows Live, I cant find the folders anywhere. All of the Storage Folders are empty. Any idea where they are?

Thanks.

The limit is 19 MB. This message is 25 MB." In fact the attachment capacity was 18 MB for that particular email message. I also received similar error messages for attachments on email messages that I sent with 16 and 17 MB.

The messages that did go through without any problem had atachments with 8, 10 and 11 MB.

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem. Otherwise, I will have to divide the attachments to lower the MB capacity in order for them to go through.

Recently have not been able to receive emails-some do come over but not about 90%.  I have called and talked to my regular emailers so I know the first statement is true.  I have called my internet provider several times in the last 3 days but they cannot find anything wrong other than telling me it probably is my email provider (Windows Live Mail).  I am now getting a pop-up that states I must be on line and/or that I am working off line and do I want to go on line?  The program does not allow me to answer as when I click on yes or no, the pop up keeps returning..
I have also talked with their Security section thinking that maybe they flagged my account for some reason as one of internet provider persons stated they may have done.  I have been assured that that was not done.
Oh yes-I do check Web Mail and one that was sent to me today is in Web Mail.  That was a test from my Internet Provider-it just will not come over to my Live Mail!
I have NO problems sending emails-ONLY receiving them!
Is there an upgrade or driver that I need?  Maybe I need to switch email accounts to GMail or HotMail?
Thank you to anyone who responds.  I am very frustrated!

A:Email from Windows Live Mail

I don't know anything about Live Mail and how it works...but I would just uninstall/reinstall it.  There may be damaged files and the uninstall/reinstall would eliminate that suspicion.

I believe that they also have a forum...if it happens to you, chances are it's happened to someone else and come up before.

She has used her email at live.com for about 2 years now. Starting two days ago she has been a victim of spoofing if I read it correctly. Her email contact list all received an email with a link to a prescription link to Viagara, with the title in the subject line OPA. It went out again last night. All the live.com online help says "change password" etc. If it is spoofing then that's not gonna help correct? If not, is there anything she can do or is she going to have to toast that email account? She uses it for self-employment

I even set up a new account but got the same problem. I have used repair and it said that the repair was successful, but I still can't send mail. Welcome.

I think that the proboblem is with the settings. What you have to do is go to the website of your email provider (MSN, Yahoo etc) and get the correct settings; ports, etc). Even though it was set up automatically, many times it is done incorrectly. You will be interested in the SMTP settings (those are used for outgoing mail)

Can anyone give me a helping hand because I'm old and lost a lot of brain cells.

A:Windows live email contacts?

If you have been signing in (either manually or automatically) each time you open WLM, your "signed-in" contact list should be visible both in WLM's "contacts" section and at the website: contacts.live.com. If you have not been signing in, then the contacts visible in the contacts setion of WLM is your "not-signed-in" contacts list. Both lists are stored on your computer but only one is visible in WLM depending on whether or not you are "signed in".

I just baught a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop with Windows 7 and am connected to the internet via my wireless remote. I can surf the net so I know I'm connected. I am supposed to have my email set up so that what I receive in my inbox on my desktop also shows up in my inbox on the laptop. I can send and receive fine on the desktop (Windows XP & Outlook Express), but when I try to send and receive mail in Windows Live on the laptop, I get this error messaage:

The connection to the server has failed.
Subject 'test'
Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 425
Secure(SSL): Yes
Socket Error: 10060

I ocassionally will receive messages, but I can never send. I've tried contacting tech support with at&t, but they weren't able to fix the problem. Can you help? Thanks.

Sylvia

A:Can't send email in Windows Live

Leisure Granny:
I believe the problem may be caused by the fact that Yahoo cannot be downloaded to the computer. Yahoo needs to be accessed via the web site. At least I am not aware if things have changed with yahoo. I use g-mail and it can be downloaded in Windows Live Mail. But, my understanding is that Yahoo, and AOL neither one can be....
When I had an XP computer, I was able to use a free program called Ypops, that would allow Yahoo to download, be read, and responded to. It has been a long time since I used it and I do not know if it will work with Win 7.
Perhaps someone else will respond here with more information..

I received an email titled "Reset your Windows Live password" from "Microsoft Customer Support" <[email protected]> that said:We received your request to reset your Windows Live password. To confirm your request and reset your password, follow the instructions below. Confirming your request helps prevent unauthorized access to your account.Puzzles me because I haven't even used MSN/Hotmail in months. I didn't request that my password be reset. It also says:If you didn't request that your password be reset, please follow the instructions below to cancel your request.Since I don't know who submitted the request or sent the email, I'm kinda afraid to click on the links provided. What should I do?

A:Suspicious Email Regarding Windows Live

Delete the email. Pretty clever phishing.
