I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey Everyone,

Any time that I press a key on my keyboard in game, it completely crashes the game (sometimes with an error and sometimes without). This happens with about 75% of my games, so this is definitely a hardware issue. For example, I'll load up a game, and when I go to type in my login information, the game crashes (i.e. Torchlight 2). Or if I get into a game and press the "e" key to access an item, my game crashes (i.e. Borderlands 2). This does not happen with games like WoW or Arma III, but does for most of my games.

I have tried using a different USB connector and a different keyboard altogether, but to no avail. Has anyone ever come across this type of issue?

I use a nVidia GTX 660 video card, Windows 7

I have a Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming laptop. I bought it three months ago and had no problems with it until yesterday. The right side of my screen got these little green, white, or pink dots going in vertical lines and sometimes they would flicker. When using apps like Discord or game apps the flicker and dots did not show up. But they would when opening my files or using Google Chrome. I updated my drivers and all of them are working properly. I reached up and wiggled the top of the laptop that contains my monitor around and that seemed to get rid of the glitch. Then I closed my laptop and opened it again and BAM the whole screen watch glitched out green and my cursor was a weird moving glitchy square in the midst of it. I forced a shut down by holding the power button down and started it back up with no problems. But every time I shut my screen, that glitch comes back. What is wrong with my computer??

A:laptop screen glitching

Sounds like it's either a display cable issue or a screen fault - contact Dell for a warranty repair.

Hello,I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct sub-forum but, I am here to ask about an issue with my laptop screen. I have a  3 year old  Lenovo IdeaPad N585 laptop and my screen is glitching. First the glitch started as a white line flickering on the screen and now the whole screen is white, green, and purple (just plain glitchy) and it only works when I bend it at certain angles and touch one side of the screen. Does anybody know how to solve this? I am looking for a way to solve it on my own because my warranty is up.   *Edit* I am not super tech savvy but, I'm willing to learn so anything is helpful.

Hi,

I've seen a couple of other similar threads but I didn't want to hijack them so I thought I'd create my own one.

I have been having a problem with my laptop for a while now; it freezes and glitches primarily when I am using the internet. If I am viewing a video or listening to music whilst it glitches, the sound glitches too and the sound is 'stretched' for half a second or so. Furthermore, every so often it will freeze for 10 or so seconds and then go back to normal.

I am really not too sure what has caused this, if anybody could offer some help that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
P123

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to read my problem. A few hours ago, I received my HP Pavilion 15-au007ni from a local store in ZA. We started the transaction for it a week ago but due to the fact that it was out of stock, it had to still be ordered into the store. So when I finally did get it from the store today, it was still sealed and totally brand new. I came home to set it up right away, and the first thing I noticed was that it makes a strange "crackling" noise. It's not very loud but it concerned me since the only noise my old laptop regularly made was the noise of the fan. I ignored it, thinking that maybe it's just because the machine is very new and still "acclimatizing" or something to that effect. But then the screen glitches started. It's not as bad as the ones I saw online when I tried to google it. It's also not a continuous glitch nor does it last very long. It only happens every 10 minutes or so or just before the screen goes into sleep mode or after you take it out of sleep mode. Just flickers of horizontal static-y lines that distorts the screen for a few seconds and then stops. All I have done with the laptop is go through the windows set-up and tried to download Chrome (stopped it because the glitches concerned me too much). Other than that, I've done nothing to it. Although, I did note that the glitches mostly just happens when the laptop is running on battery. I'm not sure if the glitches occur when it's plugged in ... An hour later the same thing happened but now i cant turn it back on even with charger plugged in. Even holding the power button does not help. Please what can i do?

Hi Koldys,Thanks for posting.Apologies that your computer is not working as expected.Have you tried taking the battery out and using the adapter plugged in?  If it works, then it would indicate the battery has failed.  If it still does not work, then the charging/power circuit is probably at fault.  If that's the case, the motherboard would have to be replaced.

Hi there,i just unpacked my laptop from a flight and now it suddenly doesn?t turn on anymore.when I press the power button nothing happens, no indicator leds, nothing. When I release the button I hear that thud noise you hear when you manually kill a laptop by keeping the button down. Now the weirdest thing: when I plug in the adaptor the fans start spinning like crazy, immediately when I plug it in, I don?t even need to push the power button.the same thing happens when the laptop is unplugged and I keep the power/reset button down for a longer time, the fans start spinning out of control but no leds, no nothing, and they immediately stop when I let go.If anyone has any clue how this could be or what to do please tell me. I will contact the seller on Monday (I have had this laptop for 2.5 years, thank god the insurance runs for three years) but as I?ve just moved to another country I?m not sure if that?s going to work out.Any help or suggestions appreciated.

My laptop had a problem with the hard drive (or so it seemed because it was unable to load up) What happened with the laptop was I tried to turn it on, the computer will load for a few seconds, then it will turn off. (So it never made even to the Windows logo screen).

My friend took it to the technician and the technician said it was a hard drive failure and needed to buy a new hard drive and install Windows onto it. The technician was going to charge $165 for new hard drive and Windows installation.

I thought $80 for a new hard drive than another $85 for a installation was overpriced. So I ordered the hard drive on my own and planned on replacing the hard drive myself.

So, I replaced the hard drive. What is going on now is that if I press the power button, I see the red light on the power button. Then in less than 5 seconds or so, the computer goes off. There is nothing on the screen during those 5 seconds.

This laptop is quite broken down, the CD Rom sometimes does not work. But regardless, with less than 5 seconds, it was quite hard to even eject the cd-rom. So I am not quite sure how am I supposed to go on and continue with the installation and such if the computer does not even turn itself on.

Now, is this really a hard drive problem or something else? Please help. Thank you very much in advance.

A:Laptop hard drive replaced, won’t boot up properly, shuts off in less than few second

$165 is actually a reasonable price.

If you remove the new drive, does it still shut down in 3 seconds?

Hi,
I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. You can follow the steps below:
Drain the residual power of your computer and recaliberate the battery by following the steps below:

Power off your computer.
Remove all the external peripherals  (printers, scanners or any other USB device) connected to your computer.
Please remove the AC adapter and battery of your computer.
Press and hold the power button of your computer for 10-15 seconds to drain the residual power.
Release the power button
Keep the battery out for atleast 2 - 3 hours.
Then insert the battery and charge it overnight with the system powered off.
Insert the battery in and connect the AC adaptor.
Then power on the computer and see if it works.

If the issue still persists, you can update the BIOS of the computer.
Note: Make sure the ac adapter is connected and the battery is charged 10% or above to update the BIOS. Also, disconnect all the external peripherals before updating the BIOS. All the programs should be closed and documents saved.

Click on the below link: http://dell.to/Th8z4k
Click on “Download File”.
Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
Click on “Download Now”.
Save the BIOS on your desktop.
Once the BIOS is downloaded on the desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
Follow the prompts on screen and restart your computer.

 Please reply with the findings.

A:wake laptop on key press

Open an elevated command prompt and type this command
powercfg /DeviceEnableWake "keyboarddevice as shown in DeviceManager"

First you need to open device manager and copy exactly the device name and put it in double quotes

To see what devices may wake the system do this command
powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

If the first command worked one of the devices should be the keyboard.

Hello,

When the computer starts up it says 'press DEL to run setup, press TAB to view POST'. Second half may be incorrect.

This was caused by my brother trying to reset the bios to its defaults. He was fiddling with it trying to make something work and wanted to undo his actions.

I am pretty sure that this can be fixed in the Boot Settings Configuration but I wanted confirmation before doing anything.

There is a settings called. Hit 'DEL' Message Display - This is set to enabled. Am I right in thinking I can disable this and the computer will run the post screen and boot?

There is another option called

AddON ROM Display Mode set to Force BIOS. I don't know what this is or if it is important.

I don't want to mess anything up or loose access to BIOS without the system booting so advice is much appreciated.

A:Need to press enter everytimes when i start my laptop

It means what it says. Your hard disk is reporting failure. It could fail in a year, a month, a week, a day, or an hour. You want to first work on backing up anything you do not want to lose.

After your data is secure, then you will want to run the diagnostic tests. Try that "Hard Disk Test" first.
Then run chkdsk /r for an elevated command prompt. You will need to restart for the test to run.

Even if chkdsk comes up clean I would still download and run a diagnostic program from the hdd manufacturer.

If any or all of these test come up negative then it is time to replace the hard drive.

Note: the diagnostic test could be the thing that brings on the total failure. Backup data first!

Hello, I have a G50-70 laptop and recently whenever I start the computer the screen flashes very dimly. This happens before it POSTs. The power light is on when this happens. I don't use this laptop much so I'm not exactly sure when it started, but I will be needing to use it every day now (but it has not always done this). When the issue happens it will flash from anywhere from a few seconds to many minutes (different everytime i start it). Once it does POST, it works just fine with no other issues. I tried reseating the display connector and RAM, with no improvement. The laptop has Windows 10 Pro, an Intel i7-4710U processor (uses integrated graphics), and a Samsung 850 evo SSD. The only prefreial connected is a logitech M705 mouse. I tried disconnecting it before startup, with no improvement. This link has what seems to be the same issue: http://lenovotalk.com/laptops/lenovo-g50-70-laptop-display-not-working.html Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Ryan

Hey @pooja_269,  First and foremost, I want to welcome you to the HP Support Forums! Here at the forums, you have many community members that will help you toward a solution.  Please make sure that the AC adapter cable is not plugged into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source. It should be directly into a wall outlet. Please make sure that you do not have any external devices connected (mouse, keyboard, usb devices, etc.) as these can cause issues.  Could you please try performing a hard reset? Are you using the AC power adapter that came with the computer? When you turn on the Notebook, does the power LED stay lit? Or does it shut off?Did you receive any error messages before this happened?Do you have any beep codes or blinking LED lights? Have you done a BIOS reset? When you press the power button and the power LED glows, do you hear the fan spinning? If yes, but the display remains blank, see Computer Starts but Screen Remains Blank.  I would like to provide you with a document called Computer Does Not Start. In this document, you will find the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the questions above.  Another option for you may be to follow the troubleshooting steps in the Battery Does Not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge document and the Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 8) document if po... My laptop wont even log on. I have a windows xp home edition. Before all this happened, i was surfing the web until popups came out (never hadthose before) and then warnings came out saying that i have a virus. So i went on all my anti virus things (like 4 of them) and scanned my laptop. They said i had like 54 somthing viruses. I didnt have a payed antivirus thing but i just 14 so i cant get one. Then i decided to restart my comp and when it came on it was on the screen where you choose who to log on to and i pressed owners and on the bottom of "Owners" it first said "loading preferences" then a second later it said "saving preferences" and then logged out. I tried safe mode and that didnt work!! My parents dont know yet and i dont want to geti n trouble!! How do i loggg onnn and when i do im going to look for the backup dick things around my house, and i think im gonna need help on that too plzzz hlp me. Oh and i think one of the antivirus things that i downloaded was fake cuz it kept poping up even if im not presseing it so i tried to uninstall it but there was no button for it so i went to the control center and went to add/remove programs but it wasnt there and i think that was part of the virus thing too. hlp me plz.

Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy

Are you still having this problem? If so, can you do the following:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.
Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.

ok... idk how this happened but one day my computer froze and i had to manually shut it down... now it is saying this message and will not start up. im sure some of you guys are familiar with this because i have read some of the posts. please help!

A:No boot device available press f1 to retry press f2 for support?

It appears there is a problem with the hard drive. It's probably dead or dying. If you have data on it that you want to save, you could place it in a USB external enclosure or an inexpensive docking station (if a SATA hard drive) and try to access the files with another PC.

I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 and every time I press the power button, it will reach the windows logo but then suddenly shuts off. On the second try it will start properly.
But I have generally noticed that it takes a long time to reach the desktop and it is slightly slower.
Any suggestions?

Thank you very much

I notice when I push on the right side, the key pushes in perfectly meaning no tightness or whatever. But when I push on the left, I notice its a bit tougher and if you were to hear it, sounds like the key is touching against another key but its not. It just seems not as smooth. What can I do to make my left side push as smoothly as the right? Im thinking maybe it just needs some buttering up on the left side, maybe just a little dry. But how do you go about popping off a laptop space bar without breaking it. Is there any springs in voled.

A:Space bar key on laptop seems to press differently on the left side than the right.

It should just pop off; pry it off with a screwdriver. This article may help:
