Viewing movies from my camcorder on my laptop

Q: Viewing movies from my camcorder on my laptop

I have a Sony digital video camera that records movies on hi-8 tapes. I wish to view these movies on my Dell Latitude D600 laptop (and possibly record to CD).

How to?

Preferred Solution: Viewing movies from my camcorder on my laptop

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Ok so my parents have this really old camcorder that uses Sony video 8 tapes. I believe these are an example of them : http://www.tapeonline.com/8mm_Video..._P6-120MPD.aspx

I want to know how I would get the movies from the camcorder onto a dvd so I can give it to them for christmas. Basically, how do I get them onto my computer? Because then I know how to get from there to a dvd. What special cords do I need? Thanks a lot for your help. I really think my parents would enjoy this if I can only get it to work.

note: any other specs you need on the camera just let me know. Thanks!

Hey everybody

Recently at the office, we recorded a conference that we had on a digital camcorder. The camcorder records to Mini-DVD's. Once we got done, we finalized the disk within the camcorder, and all if fine if I want to view the dvd of the conference.

The problem is, I need to have the video in a format such as WMV, so that I can put it on our website for people to view. I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing this.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

July 2013, I installed a new [ current ] graphics card & installed Nero Platinium 12.5.

Hard Drives: C: Total - 76316 MB, Free - 20954 MB;

WMP 11

I have audio using the speakers attached to my PC, but no audio when trying to enjoy movies on my HD TV. I use an HDMI cable.

If I use Nero Blu Ray Player [ Nero Platinum 12.5 ], I have audio for Blu Ray Disks.

I do not have audio if I use WMP for NON Blu Ray DVDs using WMP & Nero 12.5 Platinum's non Blu Ray Player.

I have to use an older graphics driver because if I use the most recent nVidia graphics driver, nVidia Control Panel does not recognize my graphics card as being HDCP compliant.

I have audio when I view a non Blu Ray DVD on my computer monitor [ which is an LCD type, NON HDCP complaint ].

I've attached a couple screen shots, which I hope will help.

Trouble shooting thus far:
Multiple HDMI cables

Multiple commercial DVDs

Thanks for your time.

The video on Nero Blu Ray Player hangs. Audio continues. I have contacted Nero for that issue. Nero Platinum 12.5 is up to date.

A:Solved: No audio when viewing DVD movies on TV

I have separate interchangeable HDDs for this computer; 1 with Vista; the other with XP Pro SP3.

If I remove the Vista HDD & install / boot from the XP HDD, I have audio when I play a NON Blu Ray DVD, if I use my Plextor PX 810 SA DVD drive [ player / burner ].

Booting to the XP HDD:
If I try to play a NON Blu Ray DVD, or a Blu Ray DVD using my other DVD drive, an LG WH 14 NS 40,
neither a Blu Ray nor a NON Blu Ray DVD will play.

i.e. neither audio is heard nor video is displayed.

I have verified that my speakers are on & the volume si in at 100%. Volume on WMP is 100%. TV audio is 75% [ as a test ]

I am having issues when viewing all types of videos in full screen mode. When the video begins to play and the cursor is over the video and all the bars disappear, the video becomes fuzzy and off-colored. As soon as I move the cursor anywhere it becomes fine again. Also, I can keep the cursor on the full-screen icon in the bottom right-hand corner, or the Youtube icon for example, but the bar does not go away. I was looking to fix this so I can watch videos in full screen mode without having to constantly move the cursor, or keep the cursor on an icon that doesn't allow the video bar to go away.

I have a Macbook air if that helps.

hi . i hope some one can help as im kinda lost . i have a cannon uc8000 camcorder and i want to connect it straight to my laptop sony vaio vgn fe41m . it has a 3.5mm out which goes into a red and white pin then into a scart adaptor . i have a firewire port /usb port / svideo out and another one net to svideo out . please help .

A:camcorder to laptop

I could be wrong but it sounds like you have a channel missing. This suggest that if you play it back on a laptop the sound will be unavailable. I'm not entirely clear on the details yet.

You currently have:

One 3.5mm jack plug in the cam itself with a lead that then splits (red and white/2 channels)

Any other ports on the camera itself?

Various options at the laptop end.

I'll have a poke around on the net later and see what I can come up with if no-one else has solved it by then. I had some nightmares getting my DV cam ported initially, it's a fairly standard problem tbh.

I have a JVC GR D-33U camcorder and a Toshiba Satellite 1905 laptop. (2GB P-4, 768MB RAM, 40 GB HD) both have a S-video port and I have the cable. Yet, when I connect them, the computer will not recognize the camera. Not even when I try to access it from my video editing program, PowerDirector 5.0.

What's the problem? What am I doing wrong? It has occurred to me that maybe the S-Video port is an "out only" port and I am engaging in wishful thinking (hardly the first time, it started with a plan for Janie Cheek in the 6th grade, but that's a whole 'nother story)

Any thoughts or even solutions?

I know this is probably not the right forum to put this in, but I don't know where else to turn and I've been help many times on here in the past.

Here's my situation: I work for a local high school football program and we just purchased an endzone camcorder for the season. In our pressbox we have a laptop that is being fed video from our sideline camcorder via a firewire. I would like to also have the signal coming in from the endzone camcorder that way I have two camera angles being fed into the laptop during the game.

Does anyone know of a way to get the endzone camcorder to be fed into the laptop in the pressbox wirelessly? I would say the distance between the camcorder and the laptop in the pressbox is no more then 300 feet.

Thanks to anyone that can lead me in the right direction as to what to get and where to get it.

A:Watching movies from laptop to tv

It all depends on what kind(s) of video and audio outputs you have on the laptop and what kind(s) of video and audio inputs you have on the TV.

EDIT: As for showing different things on each screen, that would depend on if your laptop supports dual monitor mode with different information on each screen. Then it would be a matter of how easy it might be to have the DVD player software run in full screen mode on one display.

I have a laptop with movies that I would like to watch on my television. My TV is a Sony Bravia KDL-46S2000. It has a VGA slot in the back of the TV and the TV's maximum resolution is 1080i.

After I connect the VGA cable from the laptop to the television, what do I do? I dont see anything.

-Thanks in advance

A:use my tv to watch movies from my laptop...

on the laptop you need to send the signal to the VGA port
to do that usually on laptops you need to press the FN key and then F4 {but the F key may be different - look for a figure like a TV}
each time you press it it will toggle between three setting {not necessarily in this order}
1) Laptop screen only
2) laptop and VGA Port
3) VGA port only

you will also need to link the sound - so a jack plug 2.5mm or 3.5mm depends on what your headphone socket on laptop is - to what ever audio inputs you have TV - probably Phono RCA - coloured red and white for left and right channel

yes I think that that would stream in HD but I would suggest at least 8 Mega Bits per second down stream internet for HD streaming, else you will end up buffering every 10 seconds. If you can't get 8megs, 4 megs will run but you may have to buffer after every break.

I hooked my laptop up to my Plasma TV via S-video and for the sound, RCA to headphone jack. It works fairly well, but with two issues:

1) The video input is bigger than the TV screen. To explain, when I see my desktop on the TV screen and I move the cursor to the far edges of the screen, the screen scrolls a little bit. The movies play, but they are cropped on the sides. Where or how can I adjust this to make the input from the computer fit the TV screen?

2) The sound is muffled. I don't have a receiver hooked up yet and I tinkered with the sound adjustments in the movie player and on the laptop, but I can't figure out how to make it better. Any ideas?

Thanks, please post your thoughts on these issues.

Using an HDMI cable, I connect my HP Pavilion dv7 laptop (Windows 10) to my TV utilising a Yamaha HTR-3066 AV receiver to improve sound quality and options for both TV programs and movies played from the computer. There is no volume problem with TV broadcasts. However, when playing a movie from the laptop, I need to crank up the Yamaha's volume to maximum (-80 dB) just to be able to hear the soundtrack. (The TV's native volume control is deliberately muted.) And if I forget to turn the volume control down before switching to a TV program, windows are nearly shattered. Any suggestions gratefully received!

Ok, I have a Toshiba DvD-rom SD-C2502 in my laptop and is skipping all the dvds I play, the skipping is ramdomly and sometimes it skips with audio. I load the disk and after 3 to 5 minutes it starts skipping all the time, and this is on every single movie I try to play. DMA is enabled so I guess that is not it. Is it a problem w/ the soundcard or the videocard configuration (I have an Ati radeon 7500)? I tried cleaning the lens and it didn't worked, I also loaded the movies to different programs like WMP, and WinDVD, but that didn't worked either. Can someone help me with this, I am extremely desperate, please help!

A:Help with laptop DVD-drive, is skipping all the movies!

Has this always done this or is this something that has just recently started? Do you have DMA enabled on this drive? Check the properties of the drive in the device manager to find out. If it is not enabled, enable it. If it is enabled you just might have a bad drive. I know that Toshiba does not require any kind of special driver for windoze.
