Interesting Creative Fatality headset issues.

Q: Interesting Creative Fatality headset issues.

So I bought a creative fatality HS 800 microphone.

1) I hear sound from my fatality headset just fine but my microphone is not picked up when it's attached to my headset.
2) I can use the internal microphone or the microphone from my old headset just fine.
3) I can use the detachable microphone just fine (meaning if i detach it from the headset I can use it .. and from sound quality I'm quite certain it's not using my internal laptop mic.
4) The microphone does not work when it's connected to my headset however on this computer. There is no sound pickup at all (the bars do not go up on the recording devices tab)
5) The fatality headset mic does work on my friend's computer of which he has a standalone sound card even if it's connected .

I am on a laptop with a realtek integrated sound card (most likely integrated.. not sure... someone wanna give me quick confirmation test?) and the microphone will not work when it's connected to the headset and yes I am sure the "mic on" switch is on from the headset. I am on windows 7 premium 64-bit. Any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Interesting Creative Fatality headset issues.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Does this model Fatal1ty headset require a special port on the PC? I have one of my desktops with an ASRock Z77 Professional Fatal1ty motherboard and it has a special Fatal1y headset port on it.

Hello all, I've joined this forum, to hopefully resolve my problem. I've checked on other threads similar, but couldn't find the answer.
I've just bought a non-usb fatality headset. Under recording devices, it simply says "no audio devices are installed". I've put ticks in the checkboxes that say show disabled devices, and show disconnected devices.
The mic is secure in the headset, and switched on, but I'm getting nothing.
In device manager, the audio devices are listed as:
AMD High Definition Audio Device
High Definition Audio Device

Hoping someone can help

A:Yet another Creative Fatality headset issue

One of the problems (may not be the only one) is that you do not have the correct Dell sound driver installed. You have the generic Windows installed basic function "High Definition Audio".

The first step is to get the correct Dell sound driver, assuming there is one for your Dell Model. What is the actual model, such as XPS450, Inspiron 580, etc? I used to do a lot of support on the Dell forums and we found non-Dell drivers either did not work or did not work correctly.

Second question as you have a "non USB" Fatal1ty headset, is it one that requires a special connection or is it just a standard analog headset with the standard 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo plugs for the headset and mic?

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help.

I recently installed Windows 7 (build 7100), and now am unable to get the mic to work on my headset (Creative Fatal1ty).

I've changed it to the default, but it's just not picking up any sound. Tried it with skype, ventrilo and the speech recognition software and nothing. I've also checked everything is connected correctly and have pretty much run out of ideas.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just purchased a Fatal1ty Gaming Headset (jacks, not USB) from newegg.com and for some reason i cant get the mic to work. I've browsed these forums for a few hours now looking for an answer but I cant seem to find anything that works for me. I've feel like I've tried everything. The computer only recognizes the mic build into my computer, which is just picking up white noise from my fan (hence the mic)

My computer is a Macbook Pro 17" (Bootcamped Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit)

Attached is an image of the recording devices pane.

A:Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset - Mic Issues

The Stereo Mix should be set as the default recording device (then whatever is plugged in you should hear). When you plug in the headset, does it show the microphone as connected? (or whatever yours states for an active device).

You can click on a device and get another panel which has a volume control for the device.

For the longest of times, USB headsets never worked on my computer, until my friend gave me his old logitech headset. (USB) it worked perfectly, but the earphones were too small so I decided to buy a new one, I chose the Fatality headset. I have no sound card. My computer model is an Acer AM5100, I'm plugging it into the front jacks. Give me some options to try please, and thank you.

Hey there. Man I have problems crop up with this computer more often than... oh nevermind.

Anyway, on to the issue. I'm not sure what happened, but now I have no sound at all except when playing files directly through Media Player. I checked the mixer and nothing is muted. There's no sound through IE8, or the sound control panel, or windows media center, or any games. But, playing songs, sounds, and videos through media player and they sound great.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, using Creative X-Fi Fatality & 5.1 surround. I suspect it was some update, because everything was working just fine as of a couple of days ago. MS Tech support is out, because they want to charge $59. I'll reinstall my system before paying that.

Any help would be appreciated.

A:No Sound EXCEPT through Media Player; Creative x-fi fatality

---Solved--- Window media center is messing it up. I'm guessing I don't have the audio connector bit configured properly. I restored to a point previous to dl'ing some updates, one of which was an update for wmc, and after restoring the sound was back. Testing wmc prompted for the program to be configured, and after configuring it the sound problems are back. Unfortunately, the 5.1 speakers I'm using have 3 plugs for the sound card, the options I get for the connections in wmc don't include the 3 plugs. So I'll just have to go by trial & error.

I have a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatality Pro sound card.I have it for like 2 years now and I can say that I had a lot of problem with it.
The only problem that seems impossible to solve and which is driving me nuts is the crackling sound that I hear during music playback.
I have a Razer Mako 2.1 speakers and I've tried all the drivers from Creative (older and new) but that didn't helped.
The crackling sound is even worse when I activate X-Fi Crystalizer.
Searching for an answer to this problem I've found out about Daniel_K modified drivers. I installed them and even though the crackling isn't so obvious as before, it still can be heard.
I noticed that if I kept the audio volume from Vista under 60%, the crackling will disappear even with the speakers volume at maximum.
I borrowed a M-Audio Revolution 7.1 sound card from a friend and installed it on my PC.There was no crackling sound whatsoever and I had no issue with it.
I'm thinking seriously to go back to my onboard sound card.In the future I will know to stay away from Creative sound cards and their faulty drivers.

Hi folks,

I have posted this problem on another forum (a harware forum) but thought I would post here as my problem is to do with Windows 7 Professional 32bit.

My specs are (as near as I can remember)
asus p5n73-am motherboard with onboard NVIDIA nForce 630i graphics
Creative x fi Fatality Champion sound card

I have a clean install of Windows 7 32 bit and Sonar 8.5 and have updated the BIOS and all drivers (both Windows and Sound Card). I have also clean installed Windows 7 and accepted no updates and I have uninstalled the nvidia graphics driver and accepted a standard VGA adapter - all with no difference

On starting SONAR and arming an audio track I have a terrible clicking sound which increases in rate the lower I move the latency slider. It makes the track unusable. I have tried using WDM and ASIO with no difference.

Please let me know if any more info is required

I'd be grateful for any input

A:Sound issues when using Sonar 8.5 with x fi fatality champion card

I have Sonar X1 (and 8.5.3). I had an Xfi card installed but it interfered with my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 recording interface unit and I have to remove it.

ASIO is the preferred over WDM.

Just to see if it's something with Sonar or something with the card or Windows. If you don't have it, download the free Audacity recording program and try that and see if you get the clicks with Audacity. If you do, that points it back to the Xfi or something else in the PC. I have a 5.1 system and I play it through the Sound Blaster X-Fi MB audio card. As I'm playing a stereo file in Winamp, I have enabled CMSS 3D upmixing (surround). It would play in the surround (upmixed state) for a while and if I play any movie on VLC and return to Winamp, the CMSS 3D won't play (it will be still enabled in the Dell Audio panel for Sound Blaster). No matter how many times I turn it on and off, it still won't play in the CMSS 3D Surround mode or Stereo Upmix mode.

Frustrated by that, I used the creative auto updater to update my creative drivers. And all hell broke loose! When I restarted and tried to use the new driver it showed: "The audio device supported by this application is not detected". I again reverted the driver back to the factory version and now creative audio works but the CMSS 3D issue still persists. Also, the Creative Console wont open either. Spent the whole day trying to fix this. Someone please help me why this happens and how the hell can I fix it?

So far,
I have re-installed and updated all the creative drivers and reverted it back to factory version as updates didn't recognize the device.
My 5.1 speakers are working fine (tested with a 5.1 media).
Restarted and reconnected my audio system several times.
Creative and a few other forums have no answers. (Been trying to fix it for the past four hours)

I have a friend who has just purchased a Creative HS-420 headset to use with his Toshiba Satellite Laptop (running Windows 7 Home Premium). The headset cables are plugged into the correct headphone/mic sockets at the front left side of the laptop, and the headphones work fine but the microphone does not work. When I list recording devices in Windows it shows a Conexant device. The recording level on this device flickers very briefly when I plug in the headset, but does not respond when I speak into the mic.

When I plug in a different, standalone microphone it works fine - it's just the mic on the Creative headset that doesn't work.

Does anyone know if this headset requires a separate driver for the microphone? (I can't seem to locate any drivers for it on the Creative website).

A:Creative HS-420 headset mic not working

i have had a look and i cant find a separate driver just for the mic.

Welcome to SevenForums.

What is the problem? How does the problem make itself visible/audible?
Carry out following and you should be sure to add info about your headset.

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec (left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Manufacturer and Model and
ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the ?Other Info? block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

You will find that in Speccy, you can select info from the display
using your mouse/touchpad and then paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

When gaming with my buddies, they are always complaining that my mic is way to low.

I have: Creative HS-720 Headset. (Plug and Play/USB)

I have set up so that voice chat comes through my ears and everything else goes through the speakers.
I use a program called Trillian with a Skype add-on.

What I tried:
Turning the mic volume up to the max in Trillian
Turning the mic volume up to the max in the properties of the device. (Sound-Recording-Microphone)
Turning Automatic Gain Control off and putting everything up.
Turning AGC on.
Turned Listening off.
Switched to dvd quality.
Switched to cd quality.
Allow applications to take control (skype in this case)
Googled for drivers but no luck at all.
Tried pushing it closer to my face... then my friends complain of breathing noises. (which is quiet)

Additional Information:
I am running Windows 8, 64bit Pro
I have: BT Infinity 2 Internet (78Mbps Down/20Mbps Up)
The headset is plugged into a standard USB 2.0 slot.
I have had this problem since I had the mic but never got around to trying to fix it until now.

How can I amplify my mic's volume for better use?

Hello there,

I am currently trying to figure out how to set up my system so that I can use my PCI Sound Card ( Creative X-Fi Gamer) and my USB Headset (Logitech G35) at the same time.

What I'm trying to do is use my headset for games, and then use my speakers for music and movies without having to switch default audio device everytime.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate by the way.

I have figured out how to pick what audio device to use in programs such as Ventrilo, and World of Warcraft, but I couldn't find this option in some of the other games I play such as Counter Strike : Source.

I usually use Windows Media Player to play back movies and music, and I didn't thoroughly check it's options, but in the logical places I couldn't find the option to choose the sound card I wanted it to use.

On a side note, I have FL Studio 8 installed and I use the ASIO control panel to switch between my headset and speakers when I am creating music, but I can never keep the options on that to stay the same way every time I reset my computer.

I just want a solution so that I can permanently setup my games and ventrilo to play through my usb headset, and my music and movies to play through my PCI soundcard to my speakers.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

A:USB Headset (G35) and Creative X-Fi Simultaneous Usage?

so is it you want games and ventrilo to be on your usb headphone, while music and movie in speakers? i assume the music and movie can be played in WMP11 or MPC alone, to make it all-in-one solution (codec pack).

hence, i think it'd be easier, if you set everything default to your USB headset, except for WMP11, which is to speakers. rather than set everything to speakers, and configure all your games 1by1 to usb headset.

I got these a week or two ago and now as of this evening I am getting occasional crackling with any sort of sound played. This infuriates me because I got it to enhance LPing and to replace my old Plantronics headset as well.

A:Creative Fata1ity headset crackling

Do you get any crackling from the speakers? If you plug the headset into the front headset jack, try it in the rear GREEN speaker jack to see how it works. If it works OK in the rear, it sounds like a bad (or at least dirty) front panel headphone jack.

A:Any having luck with Creative HS-1200 Headset?

Re-check your settings because you shouldn't need drivers to run a mic. I don't think I have ever seen a headset require drivers or software unless it had some special function on it other than speakers and a mic.

You are most likely having an issue with your sound card drivers or audio settings.

Hello all,
I recently bought a Creative Soundblaster Tactic 3D.
I followed all the basic instructions.
Plugging in the USB charger to my computer into a powered port.
Plugging the USB receiver in. Hitting the connect button.
Installing all the software.

The device is recognized and is set as my default audio device yet I get no sound out of it
and my computer claims it is working properly and shows visualizer beats when I put a song on.

Another thing I have noticed is in the software the Battery Icon does not show up as charging,
no matter what I do it is showing up as "Low battery" I have left it for 6-7 hours now and it
still shows the same icon and never changes to the Blue Charging icon or to the full battery icon.

Not sure what else to try.

Edit: Turns out it was wireless interference that caused the headset to not pair properly.

Today I got my new headset delivered after my old cheap one decided to lose all sound in the right hand ear-piece thing. I unpackaged it, noticed there wasn't a CD and thought, "Great, time to gamble.". Funnily enough, it didn't work. I tried restarting my computer, using the front analogue jacks... nothing. There's no support on the creative website either so I don't know what to do anymore. I looked in Device Manager, found "PCI Modem" with a yellow "?" next to it and I don't quite know what it is. I think it might be my sound card, but I checked on the VIA website and they didn't seem to have the correct drivers for my card. When I plug in my speakers, they work perfectly fine which makes me really wonder whether or not it is my sound card that has the issue.

I already have Everest, but I am willing to download any diagnostic tools if it will help you help me!

Thank you very much in advance.

Alright, so I got the Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset for Christmas, and because I have rather crappy luck, of course something had to go wrong. This time, it was the mic. It simply doesn't register-or at least, I don't think it does.

Windows 64-bit, Dell custom laptop

So...is it a problem with the mic, something I did wrong? Any help will be appreciated.

A:Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset Mic not working

To me; it appears that the mic looks like its working as there are no x's or exclamation points or anything else through it to tell that there is a problem. However; have you tried to update drivers for your audio card if there applicable? If not i would give that a shot and see if there are any updated drivers for the device(if any drivers are required of course).

EDIT: have you tried speaking into the mic to see if windows detects the noise levels? If not try it out and see what happens.

Make sure you are getting a good ground (earth) connection between the jack on the Xfi card and the plug on the headset. Wiggle the plug when inserted into the Xfi jack and see if it makes any difference.

Hi JBrito and welcome to Vista Forums

Check that you are plugging the mic into the correct socket - it should be coloured pink - and that it isn't set to mute or that the levels are too low. You might also need to enable mic boost. Also check the headset - is there a mute switch (or similar) on there to disable the mic?

hey all, yesterday I have bought myself a new headset which is well known for its fairly low price combined with a good quality device. I'm talking about the Creative Fatal1ty headset.

The reason I bought this headset was because my laptop's built-in mic is from a very crappy quality (the quality of the recorded audio is very poor). So now I have this headset there is one big problem, whenever I record sound or speak through Skype with my family/friends the headset is plugged in (and yes, I have plugged it in the correct headphone jack and microphone jack) into my laptop. But the sound that is being recorded is still being recorded by the built-in microphone and not by the microphone that is attached to my headset. How do I disable the built-in mic?

This is really annoying me...

kindly regards

Hi Everyone. I have a really annoying issue with my new Headset.
I cannot Hear my Voice Realtime (from the mic) in the headphones.

My old Headset MS Livechat lx3000 had an option at Playback devices where u could UnMute and adjust the Volume of the playback of the microphone. Same thing exist for any microphone i plug in my soundcard.
Unfortunately the new headset by Creative has not something like that and since its very soundproof of the enviroment sounds I cannot hear my own voice when im speaking and that make me unsure if my friends on skype for example (im like half-def) can hear me well and im shouting...

Thats really uncomfortable for me and for others.

I contacted with Creative Support and they told me that their Headsets Have not the "What you hear" feauture like their Sound Blaster ext soundcards (although the headset has a real soundblaster chip in its hardware). Then I asked them if its a Hardware limitation or software limitation. they told me its about the software.

So Now im Searching for a Cool Modder Guru that can fix/mod the driver/software of that Headset in order to implement the "What you hear" Feature or whatever...i need to be able to adjust the playback sound of my microphone.... Please someone help me!!

A:Question About Modded Driver for Creative SB Tactic3D Rage USB Headset

Modifying a driver to provide a new feature (even with source code which for a commercial product is almost never available) is a far from simple thing. To further complicate things a 64 bit driver must be digitally signed. A signed driver is specifically designed to prevent modification.

I just bought a new set of Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 USB Gaming Headset .
For some reason it is giving me major trouble in Vista with very poor quality *pretty much like major lag* and a lot of clicking sounds.
I know its not the headset because I checked them out on a xp laptop and they worked amazingly.
Any help would be awesome, I downloaded the latest drivers for them... Still have the same problem.
Speakers work fine, so its not the computers hardware.

Like so many others before me, I have an issue and want help... And Id be very grateful to anyone who can help...

So... yesterday, I believe, I was browsing around the internet... and I got the typical "This page cannot be displayed" error when I attempted to go to one of my heavily frequented websites. I refreshed a few times, as I thought the error popped up a bit quickly (and everyone knows that IE will, on occasion, toss that error at you for no good reason -_-)... but to no avail...

I shrugged, and went off to another of my regular websites. Same error. Now this struck me as odd. I refreshed a few times... both of these websites are LARGE websites... and generally are not down... one of them can be slow and sluggish on occasion, but very rarely down... Perhaps there was something wrong with my net connection? A few other clicks around the internet revealed that some websites would still load normally as though there was nothing wrong... So maybe just those websites, then?

I sent links to a few friends of mine over Yahoo!... all three of them said that the two webpages that would not load at all loaded fine for them... ...Even odder.

After a bit more experimentation, I discovered:

Some websites Will Not Show Up. At all. I get 'This page cannot be displayed" errors until the cows come home.

Some websites will display fine.

Some websites will give me 'page cannot be displayed' errors for the first several refreshes, then will... Read more

I put this post here because I know that this was caused by an infection, but the infection has *probably* been removed already.

I ran into an issue running Windows XP where a user couldn't open any programs. When opening any executable file I received the "Windows cannot access the specified device,.... You may not have the proper permissions..." alert box, and the program doesn't run. Same for *.reg files. Things will run for the most part in Safe Mode. First I tried ComboFix, which as I recall (this was last week) found problems. Next I scanned the drive with another machine and found some more issues. Now it scans clean with Avast, Malware Bytes and Spybot, but the permissions errors continue. I've tried TakeOwnership along with a few other registry fixes (in Safe Mode) and nothing has solved the problem.

Any thoughts?

OK. So I've got 5 avi's. All of which are movies from 680mb to 700mb. I'm using WinAVI converter to convert to VOB's, BUP's, IFO's and such. Now, 3 of which have worked perfectly! But, two of the avi's I have converted and burned are giving an "Incorrect Disc" error in my DVD player. The DVD's I'm burning them on are all the same and the source I am getting the .AVI files from is the same as well.

Why would 3 work and 2 not?

A:Interesting DVD burning issues.

I would recommend getting Nero Vision. You can take your AVIs, Edit them, Make menus, and then burn them without having to re-encode them to VOBs ect.

Dell XPS 410, Vista Home Premium

One day, my computer is shut down after a google earth install, as expected, however upon rebooting, my computer took me to the screen that prompts

"start in safe mode, safe mode networking, windows regularly, etc"
only, the screen is littered with 0's beyond belief. 00 00 00 00 00, endlessly.

I can still navigate, although it's hard to read. and various characters are jumbled up, like "o" would be a pentagon character.

Anyways, I attempt to run windows, the loading bar does it's thing, and I hit a lovely blue screen.

page fault in nonpaged area, 0x00000050 (paramaters) *the screen is only up a split second, and they change, so it's hard to write them*

the computer performs a memory dump, and restarts.

The second time around, I'm prompted with starting windows, or system restore, so I pop into system restore, and try a startup repair. passed everything right up to "root source" which failed, simply because the test was interrupted. I basically use my computer to play World of Warcraft, so I didn't object to using the factory image restore option. 30 minutes later, restore was successful, however the issue was not resolved.

Right before the crash, I believe google earth was prompted to start, while I had WoW up. From researching the error, I see that a graphics card issue could cause the 0x00000050, so my first thought would be I crashed my card with having two heavy graphics oriented progr... Read more

ram from my old build...not the best for this build...but didn't want to buy new ram after spending that much money on ram.

same goes for the video card.

My old mobo seemed to start dying on me, so I used it as a excuse to get a better one. It's ps2 ports died, and when I put a usb expansion card into it's pci x1 slot (with something plugged into it) windows would boot up so slow and it wouldn't shut down. I plugged the card into another computer and it didn't have that problem. But this is about my new build so blah.

1st issue:

I already read that this particular combo of motherboard and prossesor had a little problem...but with a fix...it better, since the 2 were the best of it's kind for the time being. (as far as phenom II x mobo gigabyte combo) The problem was the motherboard didn&#... Read more

Hi guys,

I haven't been here in a long time! I didn't post much but I do use this site as an information source quite frequently! Anyways, I have an interesting 'oddball' stand-by issue with my PC...

My stand-by and hibernate options are grayed out. Now, before you tell me to search the forums, I already have lol. It's not your normal power scheme issues and the PC is ACPI Multi-processor PC.

Now, I've tried everything I've come across on the net. But here is where it gets 'interesting' ... if you reboot standby is actually an option for about 20 seconds until the PC loads fully. In fact, if you click it you go into stand-by mode. But wait one second too long and it becomes grayed out. I can't figure out for the life of me what's causing it to happen. It's almost like a software conflict issue, but I highly doubt that as nothing runs at start-up.
It's a custom build PC (yes I know dated ):

Pentium 4 3.4
Abit "Fatality" Motherboard
2GB Kingston DDR2 PC-4200
3x Western Digital 250GB SATA HDD
eVGA 6800GT PCi-E
NEC 16XDL-DVD Burner
OCZ Modstream PSU
SB Live

I also tried changing it to 'system managed' virtual memory. I'm out of ideas and willing to try anything at this point. NOTE! I did recently restore my computer (just reinstalled windows, no files lost) and I'm not sure if that's the issue at hand. I don't remember it being grayed out before. Anyone have ANY inf... I'm currently using 32 bit Vista Home Premium and an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum sound card. The OS is not recognizing my rear speakers at all. I've tried letting Vista install the drivers itself and I've also used beta and current release drivers from Creative's site.

5.1 sound is enabled in the sound properties tab in Vista along with Creative Audio Console. I've toyed around with different settings and these are the results. If audio console is set to 2.1 and Vista 5.1, all channels play correctly but rear channels play through Front Left and right speakers. If both are set to 5.1, sound is distorted, center and sub don't play, and there is no sound from rear.

Sound plays through rear speakers if I use Dolby Pro Logic II settings on my speakers (Logitech Z-5500). That said, the OS still does not play through the rear channels. This only works on movies and music, but not games or other software.

At one point in the past, my rear-right channel would work. I don't know what I did, but no nothing works.
