Seems like I?m not the only one with this problem and no answers as I can see in this post:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Lenovo-Z510-Battery-Issues/m-p/2248499#M138065 as you can see this post is marked as SOLVED but these is like 14 more pages after that which denies this post as a fix because it DOES NOT SOLVE the problem! Me and lots of other people have this battery issue, battery indicator shows 100% and stuck on that and after like 30 minutes is turns off without dropping 1%. My searches ended up here that I have to use the firmware update program that always say "there are no attached batteries that require a firmware update" so how about a real fix hah???

Dear Lenovo, After perusing the recent 2016/2017 comments by multiple users on similar posts about Ideapad Z510 battery from across locations/countries - it appears that the firmware that you had issued last year - has somehow got overwritten / superceded maybe in either late 2016  or early 2017 by some more recent/latest updates. I am writing from India and facing the same probem that the battery is showing 100% and then going off almost immediately. This probem had fortunately got solved last year when you had issued a firmware update - but now when i am trying to use the same files again - it basically conveys that "no battery available to update" because that particular firmware is already applied on our laptop. Hence, can you please release newer firmware update for this same issue -  using a z510 system having current till-date updates for different OS - win 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 - same way as you have released for thinkpad series of laptops too on the weblink - http://support.lenovo.com/in/en/downloads/ds001322 Come to think of it - that if a fully working battery is being "prompted" as weak and "need to buy" - but actually is a fully functioning hardware - isnt it a bit of a letdown for your users??? - what to say of  some who might have already bought and replaced with newer replacement batteries - which is actually a completely avoidable cost? Hi guys,I have a one-year old Lenovo Z510, I have already flashed the battery firmware 5 months ago.Now the laptop shutoff at 35% of batter with no warning or notice that the battery is almost empty. dear sir, my name is nikhil in my laptop z510 ideapad i am facing battery problem it is not showing correct battery % and also not show batterey low warning message and it is stable at one position 99% please sir help me out from this problem .many of them his having this same problem please give some battery firmware update so to resolve this problem.it is not a hardware problem because it started from two days before previously it is working fine but now it is not working          I purchased the z510 last  july and while the battery life wasn't great on it now it has stopped working altogether. I have tried every conceivable fix for it from the forums here and none has worked. The problem that I am having is that the battery is stuck at 99% while charging and when it is off charge it will stay on for half an hour and the shut off hard without warning, it has caused me to lose progress in work. The battery gauge reset is no longer working either as it was on for hours and just kept showing 99%. I would appreciate a response back. This seems to be a problem with this make of laptop as far as Ican see.

i have bought Z510 one year back,within this short time i am facing battery problem.Battery is not charging and the system to be keep in plugged condition at every use.I am a home user and use laptop for limited time.I dont understand why lenova has not provided detachable battery which can be change by user only.Now new battery is not available in the market ,moreover Lenova is simply shedding their responsibility by saying Laptop in not under warranty.I request Lenovo to go for root cause analysis of this problem as hundreds of people are facing same problem in this model.Hope Lenovo would provide some software for attending the problem or atleast give the details of service provider from where battery can be repaired/replaced.

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with battery in your Lenovo Z510 laptop.
 
Try to perform the battery gauge reset, to perform the gauge reset go to energy manager and select the maintenance and guide and select gauge reset option and check if the battery charges.
 
Also uninstall the ACPI, to uninstall go to device manager select batteries option and right click on the Microsoft ACPI compliant control method battery and select uninstall and restart the machine and check for the issue.

I had updated my firmware on March of 2016 when this problem occurs. After the update everything was working fine as usual until recently around last month the same issue occurs again.

Hello all today ive just got my new IdeaPad 520 I5 8250U + MX150 + 8GB DDR4 + 1 TB HDD And ive put it windows 10 and started exploring it.The game i have tested till now is Mafia 2 and i  have reached 58 degrees GPU and 69-70 CPU I also used XTU and lowered the voltage with 0.085mv on 0.100mV it crashesh so i left it 0.85mV .But i noticed while i play the fan is barely getting the heat out and wanted to ask how can i increase the fan speed and eventually can i undervolt the mx150    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/Lenovo-Energy-Management-Where-is-my-Du... Despite the manufacturer's claim of 7 hours battery life on my Lenovo Ideapad 320S-14IKB - 81BN (S/N: MP1CHQTJ), I only get around 3-4 hours. This is with light usage, Reddit, a little bit of youtube etc. CPU usage was mostly around 0-5% the entire time. This was with the max CPU state in power settings reduced from 100% to 85%. However, I do have the screen at 100% brightness. As a different test, I tried doing (almost) nothing (apart from keeping the screen bright), and got 6 hours out of the battery. Is there a simple solution to increase this? It's only a 30 Wh battery (2 cell). Maybe in the future, a 60 Wh (4 cell?) one will come out for this model?

I bought my Ideapad Z510 in March 2014, its Windows 8.1. Last few days it shows "battery is weak, needs to be replaced". The battery does not charge, I have to power through AC cable, whenever I disconnect AC, its power is gone. In order to fix the problem, I did the following taks:1. I removed MIcrosoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery, and also Microsoft AC Adapter from Battery option. But after restarting the laptop, those options always reinstalled automatically without notifying. When I open Device Manager, those options are always there though those are removed and laptop is restarted.2. I reset the Gauge, but nothing happened.  I cannot understand why Lenovo provides such a poor quality battery. It is gone after 1 year!!! I cannot believe it! I have 10 years old DELL laptop and still I can use that battery for an hour. But my new Lenovo's battery has gone just after 1 year! Its a shame. Lenovo should respond about explanation that why they provide such poor quality battery. Any idea about resolving it?

A:ideapad Z510 "battery weak" issue

I have the same issue, bought the laptop around march of last year, and started experiencing the problems during the start of June.  I've seen many topics with this issue, with the same response from Mods and Admins. It's basically a substandard battery issue, and the only solution Lenovo gives us is to replace the battery (which are expensive with the relative cost of the laptop), and that doesn't even give us assurance that this issue will not happen again in a year or so. Very disappointing.

To isolate fastest is to have another battery to use or charging the original battery on a known working compatible laptop.
The power checkout guide of the hardware machine manual provides steps to check battery charging integrity (example form Z510 manual page 21) .
 
You can also try plugging the laptop but not turning it on for 1-2 hours checking if there would be changes with the battery indicator LED.
 
Would it be the same using similar energy manager and operating system that came originally with the machine?
How is the battery health and battery report?

I have two Lenovo Y40-70 computers that I purchased within a couple weeks of each other.  They came with Windows 8.1 but I upgraded to Windows 10. A few months ago, I noticed that my computer battery meter was reading 100% for an hour.  I continued to work unplugged until the battery died while still reading 100%.  I recharged and the battery again read 100% for more than a couple hours, then died.  So the battery lifetime is as good as always, but the reading is not right.  When I reboot, it still reads 100%. Strangely, the second system, whcih I had not used for a while, was OK, but a few days later, it started doing the same thing (though it was reading 87%, the charge when the computer last worked right.  I suscpect that this happened after a critical update, which the second system went through later. Recently, I downloaded from the Lenovo website the newer power management software on both computers, and it did not help. Then I noticed the Battery recall so downloaded the "Lenovo Battery Utility 2015" to see if my system was afffected by the problem.  When I run the utility, I get the mssage "No Battery Detect."  So it would appear that there may be an issue with the software detecting the batter. Since I can't know the state of the battery (it appears to not want to recharge until it's empty, I gues because it thinks it's 100% charged), I cannot count on this computer when it's not plugged in. Now I ... Hello, I have a 3 yr old Ideapad Z510(that came with Win8)which worked absolutely fine until recently. If I plug in the charger when the laptop is on, it abruptly turns off and would never boot again until I remove the charger. However, this is not how it behaves every time. There are some rare instances where I could still operate the machine with charger plugged in.  When turned off, battery is charging and also goes to full 100%. When turned on(battery mode) it does not drain rapidly - I could still get a fairly decent stand up time. So I am assuming the battery is good. I don't see any thermal issues either. Things I tried:-------------- > Tried with a different charger - no help.> Updated the firmware - no help.> Update the entire driver pack - no help.> Applied windows patches, reinstalled and also upgraded windows to Win 10 - no help.> Reseated the battery and associated cables - no help.  I am not sure if there is anything that I could do to at least diagonize the problem before I give it to the service station. Any pointers on this is much appreciated   Thanks much in advance.

Hi,so my z510 is 1 year old and and the battery been good till last nightit charges to 99% then the battery symbol keeps telling me (99% plugged in, charging) but the battery light indicator stops blinkingif i plug off the AC it stays at 99% and doesn't change untill i consume it to 0 (on purpose)then i can see the battery charging well untill 99 and back to same problem what is wrong please i need help.Thanks for reading.

 As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with Battery problem in your Z510 laptop.
 
Try to update the energy management to the latest version and check for the issue,
 
Click here for the energy management windows 7.
 
Click here for the energy management windows 8.1.
 
Also try to perform the gauge reset: go to power manager, select battery option in advance mode, under the battery select battery maintenance and select perform reset under battery gauge.
 
Also try to uninstall the Microsoft ACPI application and check and also reinstall the application.

Hi all,  My z510 is a couple of years old now. Tonight it is refusing to charge and when it's attached to AC power the battery remains at 5%, while the icon looks like it's charging normally. I've restarted a few times and tried updating the battery firmware, but it was up to date already. I'm running the most recent version of Windows 10. Anybody know of a solution? Thanks!

Hi!2 years ago when I encountered the battery problem on my z510. I only learned about the solution only just last year, after a few months of the release of the said solution. Just a few days ago, it happened again. It started by showing that my battery is weak, then just yesterday, whenever I unplugged my laptop from its charged state, it will just automatically shutdown, just like what happened on my first encounter if the problem 2 years ago. I tried to use the solution, but what it shows is that the firmware of my battery is already updated. Is there any ways in which I could downgrade or uninstall the firmware? Or is there another solution for my problem? Thanks alot.

I have a lenovo z510 which i bought just 1 year back and my warranty is expired..now i have to change my battery but customer representative are saying that they cant do anything as warranty is expired..and they gave local lenovo shop no to contact and replace the battery..but they are saying this model battery is not available..you have to wait..even they dont know if this model battery will available or not..this is very dissapointing..if anyone know how to get and replace the battery please do inform me...my contact details

Greetings! I have a Lenovo Z510 8GB Ram, Core i7, 1tb hdd, which I purchased less than a year ago. Off late I've been experiencing major battery problems. It started off with the laptop randomly shutting off without any warning, even though there was considerable life left, for eg. 90 pct or so. This became worse when the laptop didn't start up at all, until I plugged in the charger. The only way I can now operate the laptop is by connecting to charger, but the battery still remains at 0 pct, doesn't charge. The battery light keeps blinking red, Also, I have used an application BatteryInfoView to analyze this, and it says teh battery still has 83 percent of its original capacity, However I receive a message everytime on startup saying the battery is weak and needs to be replaced. What can I do about this? Thanks.

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with battery in your Lenovo Z510 laptop.
 
Try to uninstall the energy management and restart the system and check for the issue, also reinstall the energy management and check for the issue.
 
Uninstall the Microsoft ACPI application? go to device manager under device manager select the drop down list under the battery option. Perform the above steps and reply with result.

I have had this laptip for about 4 months and this started a week or so ago. I have stopped getting warnings that my batter is low, these used to occur at 10 and 7% battery life. This wouldn't be a big issue but the battery life indicator is not accurate. It shows at a constant 80+% and the next thing I know my computer shuts down for a low battery. Please help me fix this.

Hello. First of all, thank you for taking the time to view my post and potentially help me out. So the problem is that my laptop will not start. I was using my laptop here one day and it was working fine, but it was unable to charge for some reason and ended up shutting down so I went to bed. The next morning I tried turning it on, but it was dead. I have tried a different charger as my sister also has a lenovo laptop, but this did not work either. I would think if the battery was the problem, the laptop should still be working with the charger in? I have tried calling support line several times with no answer, the warranty has gone out and I forgot where i bought the laptop sadly. I purchased Z510 a year and 3 months ago, I really enjoyed it's performance and stability. but after installing windows 10, I faced the usual battery issue that most of the users here complained about, and I upgraded the firmware and everything went fine after that. but 2 weeks ago, I opened the laptop to find that the battery is 0% and it's plugged in but not charging, The Energy manger was confused too sometimes by showing me a message of "Unauthorized battery" and sometimes it detects the battery but it remains 0%. so basically I was working on a laptop with no battery after a while the laptop started to restart frequently, till the situation was unbearable. I sent it to the support and they told me that it needs a new battery and a motherboard and they will cost me more than 50% of the laptop price. I don't know what to do now? I'm really pissed from Lenovo support here in Egypt, they don't even know what they are doing and their first diagnoses was even wrong and I had to ask them for a second one to solve the frequent restarting problem. Any suggestions or recommendations?By the way, The restarting thing never happened to me while in Safe Mode, does this mean anything?, I already reinstalled the windows 3 times.

From here onwards, I am going to be addressing the issue based on my experience, so I had updated my firmware on March of 2016 when this problem occurs. After the update everything was working fine as usual until recently around this week or last week the same issue occurs again and again, which is quite devastating for me as I usually use my laptop for presentation.      I hope that Lenovo support team will be able to fix this issue as soon as possible, as I do use my laptop everyday, sometimes in an environment that does not have plug. The download page for this update is up since a few days but there is no download available: http://support.lenovo.com/fr/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-edge-laptops/thinkpad-e555/do... And when you switch to another language like German or French the older version 1.14 is offered as downlaod. These bugs in your driver download section happen a lot, please fix them!

Hello! I am new to Lenovo and picked up my 1st laptop yesterday when my HP died. I have always had HP and grew tired of how easy they break & poor battery life, so I wanted to try a different band. I love the computer, the keyboard, track pad & screen are amazing. I bought the ideapad 320-15IAP for about $330 (Including tax) The specs at the store advertised 4.5-5 Hours of battery life, but I have not been able to get a charge better than 2 hours. For someone that uses my laptop at work and on the go, this will not do. Can any one offer up any advice? Does lenovo sell stronger batteries for ideapad that I can replace with this current battery?  My next issue is the Windows 10 update that you are forced to do, I have been trying to install it since 9PM last night, it is now 9PM tonight, a full 24 hours, and it has not fully installed. I have done my fair share of google searches and many people have had these same issues too, but no good solutions outside of deep computer hacking, I don't want to have to do that on a brand new computer. Thanks for any and all help!

I am interested in buying the lenovo ideapad 510s 14 isk. However, I know battery life is not really good (with a 2-cells battery of 30 WH). Does anyone know whether or not it is possible to replace the battery to a 3-cells? Furthermore, has anyone any experience with using a powerbank (I could only find powerbanks made for thinkpads) Thank you very much!

My battery seems to charge very slowly when connected to AC and when I unplug I lose power in less than 20 minutes and the diagnostic says battery is in "Fair" condition and only charging at 41.38% of its original full charge capacity.  When I called customer service since I am still under warranty, they just said I could send in the laptop for repair which takes about 7 business days or go to a Best Buy for the GeekSquad to repair.  I went to Best Buy, but the Geek Squad said they would have to send it off for 13 days so none of this was helpful as this is my only laptop and I need it daily so to send it off for 7 business days would be difficult.  Are there any other options for repair that reduce the time significantly?  I can't believe Lenovo doesn't offer overnight shipping to expedite the process

I realise my previous message didnt have a good header to identify problem which is new ideapad 300 (bought in April last year) permanently used with adapter since. When i now come to use on battery it drains with in a couple of minutes. What do i need to do?

Did you try calibrating the battery?
 
Also, you can also start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 20 seconds.
