I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi.

I have a PC with Windows 8.1 single language pack(OEM DVD) and I need to get a new language pack.

But since the OS being single language pack, I am not able to download another language pack,

and so I thought I would get a 8.1 Pro or a normal NOT single language pack and do an upgrade.
(a wee bit sideways though )

So here is the Q.

If I get myself a 8.1 pro(non-single language), will I be able to upgrade my OS to a normal 8.1 pro?

Need to be typing in both Korean and English but I'm stuck with only English...

A:Windows 8.1 single language pack upgrade

You should be able to upgrade if you have bought the 8.1 Pro key. I've not tried it as I never had single language but MS says you can.

Add features: FAQ - Windows Help

Can I add features to my Single Language edition of Windows?Yes. If you bought the Windows 8.1 Pro Pack or Windows 8 Pro Pack, you should be able to install it and activate Windows successfully.

Hi, I bought my pc with Windows 7 Pro in Spanish. I know I can't add any other language packs with this edition. I don't want or need multi lang support, I just want my OS in English. How can I do that with out having to reinstall Windows from scratch?
Thanks in advance

A:Change my Language Pack to English (Windows 7 Professional)

There's no mystery. You are not supposed to use "direct download" links for language packs that are only delivered (automatically) if you either use a multi-language edition of Windows (Ultimate, Enterprise) or a server edition (2008 R2). The "DISM" command
can be used to deploy single-language editions of Windows from a multilingual Windows Image, like stated in your link, but it's purpose isn't to change the UI language of a bought, single-language Windows SKU."192 GB ought to be enough for anybody." (from the miniseries "Next Generation's Jokes")

I'm using Windows 7 64 Bit and MS Office 2010.

Recently i had to reinstall MS Office and now I'm missing and autocorrect languages.
That's why i downloaded some language packs but i can't install them.

Error says that there is a 32 bit version of Single Image 2010 already installed.

Therefore i uninstalled Single image 2010 (thanks to the help here in the forum).

Unfortunately the whole MS Office is messed up and i get this message each time i run an office programm:
This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.

So i reinstalled MS Office again, but then again, it seems that the 32 bit version of single image is installed (can't install language pack due to that)
.

Seems that i'm trapped in a bad circle.
Any help appreciated.

I installed Windows 8 Pro and installed an additional language(let's say it's B) pack, changed system display language to B, and system locale to B.

And I got infinite BSOD after installing some drivers(not related to language pack, just I made mistake installing old programs), so I 'refresh'ed the system.

Guess what, after the refresh, system display was set to English(united kingdom, which is default), AND system locale remained as language B.

This is the problematic part;
1.I CANNOT change system display language to B, it says it's unavailable.
2.The system regards the language pack is already installed because I can still use B as system locale.
3.I cannot reinstall or remove the language pack. LPKSETUP doesn't detect B.

SO i'm pretty much stuck, and I don't want to reinstall just to change the system display language.

Is there any solution to this(removing/reinstalling language pack)?

Hello,

I suppose changing the display language is part of "customisation", I apologise in advance if this is the wrong forum.

My current setup is Windows 8.1 Pro Update version 64-bit. The software was bought in Germany, where I currently reside, but German not being my native language I wanted to use something more convenient like English. The process to change the display language was very easy, and now almost all my display text is in English... save for a few places.

I'd say most of these do not matter, such as the computer greeting me with "Wilkommen" instead of "Welcome", or asking me for my "Kennwort" instead of my password, or the network icon in the settings charm bar being labeled as "Netzwerk". I can still work like this, it's not the end of the world. However, if someone has encountered this issue before, or if some pointers could be given to solve this, my OCD would be extremely grateful.

Things I have tried is to set my location to United Kingdom, also changing the system locale to the UK. I tried changing the display language back and forth between french (my native language, which I do not like to use for computer purposes) and english to see if the german language artifacts disappeared, but no such luck.

Of course, since "Deutsch" is the language which the OS was installed with, it cannot be removed from the language packs. It is simply not displayed.

Many thanks in advance for your help !

Hi Bergamoth, welcome to the Eight Forums.

See this tutorial: Region and Language Settings - Copy to New Users and Welcome Screen - Windows 7 Help Forums. The tutorial is for Windows 7 but the procedure is the same in Windows 8.

Copying settings as told in the tutorial, your Welcome, Sign in, Sign out, Hibernate / Sleep and Shutdown screens are turned to English. Additionally this setting changes the language of the built-in administrator account and all future user accounts you will create.

See this post for another idea, reinstalling using English install media and your original product key.

Hello, I'm new to the 7forums and I need help.
I've been trying to fix my Windows for 3 days straight now and I'm not really progressing.

This is to help you understand what situation I'm in:
I've asked my dad to help me with something and he did a little extra which messed up my register and after working on that for about a day we decided to Repair install my windows and see if it helped, he got me this Win7 SP1 ISO and upgraded and everything went just fine, but the language was in English and I was unable to change it. I've been on this forum and a few others looking for a solution and didn't quite find out what to do, what I've done so far is:
- Checking optional updates, yet there were none considering LP's and I couldn't find the 'show hidding updates' check either.
- Copying language files from another computer, which got the language into the list of selectable languages but I ended up having a 50/50 English - Dutch on my computer.
So after a lot of trying my dad got me this ISO which was included all versions including my 64 bit Ultimate SP1 version which I've been using but it was all in Dutch, so we got that problem out of the way.
But when I go to the setup it asks me where to install and when I choose the C: drive it only says it would overwrite it and I never get to those the 'Upgrade' option to Repair install.

So basically what I'm asking for here is this:
- How do I fully install this language pack into my windows? (Microsoft site hasn't been any help, coul... Read more

Hi dear!

I got an old computer that I used for perhaps one year ago, and what I did to destroy it was to delete the language pack somehow. Now I would like to try to fix it, as I actually need it. But I do have some issues, maybe someone of you guys know. I can start it up all the way to where I choose between safe mode, and so on - then I get the blue screen that lasts the whole 2 seconds, amazingly enough.

I have Windows 7 Installation, that's all I have. When I start up my PC also says two fix the problem:
1 Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2 Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
3 Click "Repair your computer".

Had this been as simple as the system claims, I would have been fixing it myself asap. The problem is that when I put the CD, restart the pc is also nothing happens. So I've searched up a bit, where you can do so in a way pc starts via cd so I can install windows 7 The problem is when I enter the BIOS I can choose between "Information, Main, Security, Boot and Exit ". When I go to BOOT it says "Boot priority order" and that's the list:
1 IDE0 WD
2 IDE1: PIONNER DVD-RW
3 USB FDD:
4 Network Boot: LEGACY PCI DEVICE
5 USB HDD
6 USB CD / DVD ROM:

I can not do anything here, no matter what I press. It's sort of gray text, what I can do about is completely black. So it turns out that they are locked. What should I do ..

I just came across the most frustrating problem ever. My laptop was shipped with Windows 8 x64. And I upgraded to Windows 8.1 through Windows Store. Now after a few months, I planned to reset my PC because I want to start over again. So I go to Settings, Update and Recovery and Reset PC. I chose "Only where Windows is installed" and it rebooted and go through an option where I can reset, refresh, change firmware PC settings and thingy. So I chose again "reset my PC" and entered my password and clicked continue. And it failed showing "The required partition is missing" which is weird because when I checked at Disk Management, I have several partitions which I didn't and NEVER touched with anything. So I thought I was okay. So I downloaded ASUS Backtracker and clicked "Restore my PC" and it led me back to Update and Recovery and I followed the same procedure again but this time, I chose "Refresh my PC" and one of them showed "Go to Windows Store to install Windows 8.1 and your apps" or something. So I clicked continue and again it failed. So using ASUS Backtracker, it backed up my recovery partition to my external flash drive and it was a success. Now I booted to ASUS Backtracker and it says "Initializing Hard Dri... Read more

The only issue was they couldn't change the language pack on any of the machines , everything else worked like every other version of W8.

A:How to re-active windows 8.1 single language

Hi,
What's your previous operating system?
If you perform a Windows 8.1 clean installation, you need to new key to activate the new operating system.
Did you use this new key in your DVD to try to activate? Could you let us know the exact error message when you attempt to activate the Windows?
In addition, I would like to suggest you to contact Microsoft Product Activation Center by telephone to verify the product key and activate your system.
To start the Product Activation Wizard, follow these steps:
1. At the Start screen, swipe in from the right side, or hover your mouse in the upper-right corner of the screen to display the charms menu.
2. Tap or click the Settings charm.
3. Tap or click Change PC Settings.
4. If your PC is not activated, PC Settings will provide instructions that are customized to your activation error. If telephone support can provide help for your error, tap or click the appropriate link, which may resemble one of the following:
a. Activate
b. Activate by phone
c. Contact customer support for help

I have a license for both and am thinking to install Windows 8.1 again on my laptop.

Windows 7 Pro did offer me higher benchmarks, but I don't know, the laptop felt snappier in Windows 8.1 for some reason.

My laptop originally came with Windows 8.1 single Language

now before I format, shall I install Windows 8.1 Single Language that came with my laptop or my own copy of 8.1 Pro?

Is Pro heavier by any chance because it has Bitlocker, the ability to connect to a Workgroup, Hard Drive encryption, etc?

If the performance is the same then I'll install 8.1 Pro but if you think Single Language is lighter, then I'll stick to that

please advice

A:Which is lighter, Windows 8.1 Single Language or Pro?

Personally, I don't see a difference between the two (both are Pro versions) except that you have only one language on the OEM version.

There are three versions of Windows 8/8.1; Core (mostly for consumers); Pro and Enterprise (mostly for multiple licenses). You will find comparisons between these versions here: Compare Windows 8.1 Editions

If your system specs are correct, the OEM OS on your laptop is already Windows 8.1 Pro. No need to format and reinstall unless you have a specific need for multiple languages. Further, I'm pretty sure that, since the product key to Windows 8.1 Pro is embedded in your BIOS/UEFI, reinstallation will pick up that key for you and hopefully, you won't have to use your other key.

Also, although you didn't ask the question, if you format/write over your OEM version of Windows and you use the key with your multiple language version of Windows 8.1, you cannot use the OEM version from the laptop on another computer; thus, one license lost. My advice would be that unless you have a need for multiple languages, leave things as they are.

You can only install Windows 8.1 Core SL if your laptop came with the same. If you want Pro, you want to buy product key for that version separately from Microsoft store or retail stores.

Hi all,
I want to know how to upgrade Windows 8 single language to Windows 8 Professional, what is the way?
should I use third party program or not? I don't know.

A:How to upgrade Windows 8 Single Language

This courtesy of Andre Da Costa, Microsoft MVP, and taken directly from a thread with the identical question in Microsoft Forums.

The only thing to watch would be if you are in another area than N. America, change countries on the links before ordering, downloading, anything. (Usually at bottom left or top right).

You can use the Windows 8 Pro Pack or a Windows 8 Pro upgrade and use the following method to upgrade.

Purchase Windows 8 Pro Pack:
Move up from Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro:
Add features - Microsoft Windows

Press Windows key + X
Click System
Under Windows Edition, click the link:

Get more features with a new edition of Windows
Click the 'I already have a product key link'
Enter your product key and you will be upgraded to Pro.

This will ensure your personal files and settings are preserved, including applications.

As extra precaution, you can backup your current Windows 8 install before upgrading:

I have dell 20-3043 with bundled Windows 8.1 with bing single language.
I ahd to format PC due to some problem. Kindly provide me the ISO for re-installation.

A:Need Windows 8.1 Single Language with Bing ISO for DELL

That "Free" OEM Only Edition .iso is not available for download. You can use a Windows 10 RS1 .iso instead which will accept your Windows 8.1 Bing Edition UEFI BIOS SLP key. See here for details:

Hi,
I run a small business with 60-80 team members. We do not use any additional Microsoft services such as Active Directory or Domain Controllers. We are planning to provide laptops to our team members with Windows 8.1 OEM Single Language license installed.
Will this license be okay for business use? These laptops will be used by the employees for official business purpose.
Any help / information in this regard will be appreciated. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me where and how I can get GPEdit, msc working for Windows 8.1 single language?
Before anyone jumps on me to Google, I have already tried using a lot of guides, most of them are the same the one on the link below.
How to Enable

I have tried everything but sadly I am still getting the same could not create MMC plugin. Screenshot below:

Please help.

A:GPEdit.msc for Windows 8.1 single language? / MMC error.

Generally it's required to have the Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate editions of Windows 7 and Windows 8 to get the Group Policy Editor. Your System Specs show Windows 7 but gives no other information to work with.

If following the instructions given in the link you posted don't work you should be getting some error messages.

Hi.
I've been googling for quite some time now and I can't find the answer.
Where can I find a Swedish language pack for Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x86?

I have seen stuff like "Build 700*" when googling, but I thought those were for the old beta version of win 7?
If it's somehow relevant I don't know what Build this OS is, and I don't know how to find out.

According to google I am supposed to run Windows Update to get the language packs.
However, when I manage to run the update it finds nothing.

Most of the times I run Win Update I get an error code saying: 80072EE2
I believe that code means Win Update is too busy to handle my request at the moment.
I got this message last night. When I turned on the computer this morning I was able to update, though. Now, a few hours later, I get the damn error message again.

I also wasn't able to download anything from HP's ftp servers on the computer. (Drivers.) -I believe this might have something to do with the win update issue.
Conclusion (tl; dr):
-I can't find a Swedish Language Pack anywhere. I would very much like one.
-Windows Update is acting weird, error code: 80072EE2
-I can't seem to download from/connect to FTP servers.
Bonus, Off-Topic question:
-Why doesn't my signature show up anymore?

Help appreciated. =)

A:Windows Language Pack

Hi there
Download the SWEDISH LIP from here

Download languages for Windows - Microsoft Windows

Even includes obscure languages like WELSH etc.

I used the Icelandic one -- works a treat on my systems. In some cases you need to install over a base ENGLISH version of W7 but I think for Swedish installing over ANY installed language version of W7 base should be OK -- the list contains the requirements.

Once you've installed go to control panel regional settings and you can get around 99% of the Interface switched to the alternate language(s). You can install as many as you like and note the Logon screen if you set the administrator options in control panel will also be presented in your chosen language.

You need to have W7 PRO or higher unfortunately -- it won't work with HOME PREMIUM -- which IMO is daft since corporates often use ENGLISH but home users are much more likely to want W7 in their native language.

You should find no trouble installing on W7 Enterprise whether X-86 or the 64 bit version.

You can switch back to the original English any time after install too.

Cheers
jimbo.

When I run the Windows Event Viewer I get errors with an Event
ID of 1003 related to the Windows Language Pack.

Looking at my System Restore points, I see several incidents of Windows Language Pack INSTALLS and UNINSTALLS.

Further,in TASK SCHEDULER, I see the Lpremove Task with both "sucess" and "was stopped" at different times.

I have one language pack installed ie. Canadian English.... Eh?

What is the problem? What is the solution.

Thanks,
Hasiel

Hey guys, my Windows 8 installation sort of died, so I want to reinstall Windows 8.1 on top of it. My Windows 8 came preinstalled with my Dell laptop.

1. I have a Single Language key, but I keep seeing these ISOs for Single Language and Core, what exactly is the difference between these two editions? Also, there is another one, "Core Single Language". What's that?

2. Can anyone recommend me some places to download Windows 8.1 ISOs? Is this thread on another forum trustable?

3. Has anyone recently tried the Windows 8.1 clean install > change product key to Windows 8 key method recently? I am afraid that I will be left with an unuseable installation of Windows.

Thanks in advance!

A:Windows 8.1 Core/Single Language Installation w/ Win8 key

Welcome,

Core Single Language is exactly as it says.. It's Windows 8 Core but limited to a single language.

MDL forum only links to "untouched" ISO's - no modified links are allowed there - so yes - those can be trusted.

The tutorials here will get you across the line the rest of the way.
PS You will need the CSL .esd file from store (on a different thread) I leave that up to you - I don't think discussing other forums here is a good idea though.

I tried to use the reset feature of Windows 8.1 to have a "fresh install" of the operating system. When I start with the reset process, I am prompted that some files are missing and that I need an installation disk. I read that if I had the ISO,
all I need was to copy the INSTALL.WIM file from the installation media into a local folder inside the main drive and use the command prompt to point my system to that installation file. I was unable to download the ISO of the Single Language edition here
at the office due to some proxy issue with our network (using the media creation tool from microsoft). I have a regular Windows 8.1 ISO and thought that it might be sufficient enough. It had the INSTALL.WIM file that I read about, copied it to a local folder
and set it up through the command prompt. The reset pushed through, but now my desktop says it has Windows 8.1 Pro build 9600 installed. I cannot activate it since the PC originally came with the Single Language edition. I have also tried to download the Single
Language ISO using my home network, but there was no INSTALL.WIM file inside the ISO.
1) Is there a way to convert my PC back to Single Language while using the INSTALL.WIM from the regular Win 8.1 ISO?
If #1 is impossible...
2) What is the equivalent of INSTALL.WIM inside the Single Language ISO?
If there really is no such file inside the Single Language ISO...
3) Can I create a bootable USB with the SL ISO and install it via USB? Will I be able to ... Read more

hey there, sorry if the reply is late but you might read it anyway, possible problems are energy saving software on your laptop and indexing on the drive, so try these steps and see if it works :

1.turn off any energy saving software by Sony installed on your laptop, for example Lenovo laptops come with a "hard drive power saver", it used to make my games lag exactly as you said, when i turned it off it became super smooth
2.turn on indexing by right clicking the drive "d:" for example, then at the bottom uncheck "allow files to be indexed ...etc", this also affects gameplay.

i assume ofcourse that you have updated all your laptop and NVIDIA drivers, i hope this helps.
