Where can I get specific individual .dll files?

Q: Where can I get specific individual .dll files?

Where can I get specific individual .dll files? How difficult is it to update a .dll file?

I have been downloading and running various .dll repair programs that claim to fix everything. Unfortunately, none of these programs have fixed or replaced the .dll files my System File Checker lists as corrupted and not reprojectable.

I am looking fo these specific files used by Windows Defender in Windows 7:

MpEvMsg.dll.mui
MsMpRes.dll.mui
MpAsDesc.dll.mui

I have never manually installed a .dll file, but I learn quickly and know how to follow directions. Can someone point me to a "how-to" instruction list for replacing corrupted .dll files? Is it a relatively simple task once I have good .dll files? I would rather not have to pay $200 to someone like the Best Buy Geek Squad just to make what hopefully are minor system changes. Any advice is appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Where can I get specific individual .dll files?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Where can I get specific individual .dll files?

You can extract them from the win 7 install media,

Extract Files from Windows 7 Installation DVD

If you don't have one you can download one here,

Windows 7 Direct Download Links, Official Disk Images from Digital River

I just used 7-Zip and found those files in the install.wim, you have to grab the right folder once inside but it's all explained in the tutorial.

Windows XP Pro SP3
I have 4 WD external HDD's purchased between 2004 and 2008. On these harddrives are various files, including but not limited to the following:
+backups for my primary hd
+tv shows
+movies
+program installers
+personal movie collection used for editting
I have found that certain files cause windows explorer to crash - be they movies, tv shows, installer files, files on backup, etc. - when highlighted and cause Dr. Watson to go bonkers. There seems to be no connection: files with similar sources, extensions, sizes, use dates, names, pathnames, etc. seem to work fine. In all there are just over 20,000 files, of which maybe 30 cause this problem. It is possible in transfers they were just simply improperly transferred (causing pieces of the file to be lost forever), but there is a file I KNOW that happened to and Dr. Watson never went bonkers and Explorer never crashed when I selected it; it was an .avi of "Beetlejuice" whose transfer was terminated before completion, and all it does when selected is simply not play in WMP. Any ideas?

Hi All,

I have a workbook consisting of 10 worksheets. First three worksheets contains Pivot Table, which gets the data from 4th, 5th and 6th worksheets. 4th, 5th and 6th worksheets gets the data (using a web query) from an external CSV file. I want to have a "Refresh Data" on the fist sheet, which is when clicked, refreshes the external data and the pivot tables in the following sequence :-
Refresh the data on 4th Sheet.
Refresh the data on 5th Sheet.
Refresh the data on 6th Sheet.
Refresh the Pivot Tables on 1st sheet.
Refresh the Pivot Tables on 2nd sheet.
Refresh the Pivot Tables on 3rd sheet.

I used "ThisWorkbook.RefreshAll", but it refreshes the data in one go, not in the required sequence. I also tried "Sheets(index).Calculate" for different sheets, but it does not refreshes the external data.

Any help in writing the macro/subroutine to achieve this functionality would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nayan

I manage a school network and would like advice on an issue with offline files.
For reasons of access to teaching specific users on specific computers need to have their files stored on their local machine.
Other users who log into the machine do not need to store their files (I don't want them to).
I also don't want the specific users to store offline files on other local machines.
Is this possible using active directory and group policy ?
How would I go about it?

You can redirect specific users My Docs folder to a network share. Then the files will not be stored on the local machine, and you can also include that network share in your daily backup routines. As for the other users, just leave their My Docs folder set to the default path, and their files will be stored on the local machine.

I recently bought Star Wars the Original Radio Drama on audiobook. I want to copy/rip this into mp3 files so I can listen to them on my phone and/or mp3 player. I have windows 8.1 and using media player to rip them. However, the problem occurs when I insert the second disc and media player starts ripping the cd without changing the names of the tracks. I didn't notice this until I was on the third disc. Now I have multiple versions with the same title and haven't been able to tell them apart other than deleting them.

I'd like to do this with each disc its own titles, etc. I don't want to do this via iTunes, which every online website gives as the way to do this. I also don't want them in one large file. I'd like to find a stopping point now and then. Any help, including ink to different programs that will work, would be helpful.

Is it possible to assign individual files to a library? So far, I have only found a way to put a folder in a library and when I do that the entire file list for that folder appears in the library.

Thank you.

A:Individual Files in Libraries

Libraries are virtual folders not virtual files so to answer your question, no. Instead maybe use a symbolic link (made with mklink with the command line) and link the file in a certain folder. Or just put it in a folder already set to the library.

However, little mischievous people may go into this if I am not on my computer and be a pain. Therefore, I want a way of protecting it from opening up in it's main application.

I don't really need it to be sophisticated, it is not to prevent hackers etc, it is merely to stop people having instant access to it from my desktop.

I doubt there is any built-in feature of windows, therefore what third-party applications can do this?

I have played around with the backup functionality; I know how to backup a system image. What I cannot figure out is how to backup individual files; when I configure the backup and drilling down into the folders, the individual files are not shown.

In XP, I backup my Outlook .pst every day (I work from home so this is important). I had a NTBACKUP job set that would backup only the .pst file every day...no problem to set up.

When trying to configure W7 backup I can drill down to C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook but the only thing that's shown in the Outlook checkbox window is "Accounts."

The .pst is not in Accounts, it's in the root of the Outlook folder.

How can I configure the backup utility to be more granular? Thanks for the help.

A:CD shows data, but not individual picture files

Welcome to the TSG forum.

Photographers own the rights to print the pictures .. And usually don't give you the readable Images that the camera took.
They probably have proprietary software to read the pictures ..
The discs you can't read are probably what you'd take to get them printed.
The images you can see .. Are low resolution copies that probably won't make good prints ..For previews only.

They don't want you to print them yourself or have anyone else do it ..They want to charge you.
What's the extension (file type) of the data files in the Disc that you can't view ???

I've tried to remove it with Control Panel Add or Remove programs. It kind of flashes real quick and then just stays there. Some blogs recommended using certain free (or so they said were free but were not) downloads of spyware removers. The problem with these is that I am at risk of having it remove something my job downloaded, some software that works with microsoft word and then I can't work (at home). I had to do Go Back To an Earlier date on the computer to undo this. I need to know what the specific files are I need to remove and how to find them in the computer. At any rate in going back to check some of the photos I had scanned, they are no longer in their folders and have disappeared completely. I did searches, etc and nothing. I was also in the middle of scanning a bunch of photos when suddenly the message came up that the folder I was scanning to was no longer there. An hour later I finally located the entire folder and scanned photos in the recycle bin. It just went there itself.

What can be done to prevent this. I scan and toss the photos but now I find that they are disappearing days down the line.

You can now right click your file, go to 'Properties'. Under the 'shortcut' tab click 'Change Icon'. Browse to your newly created .ico file and select it.

A:How do I delete individual files created by system protection?

Hello Bhootnat, and welcome to Seven Forums.

A restore point is different than a backup. You will not be able to delete a specific file included in a restore point. Any attempt to mess with a restore point like that would most likely end with the restore point no longer able to be selected to be used when doing a system restore.

Instead, you could only delete specific restore points if you like.

Is there a faster way to password-protect folders than the ones I already know, such as AxCrypt or putting in a zip with 7Zip? I have a lot of huge files and it would take too long.

I do NOT need powerful encryption for these particular files. No hacker is ever going to get them; it's only to keep out my roommates who use my account on my computer. For various reasons setting up separate accounts is not an option.

I"m wondering if there's some way that's not as secure as AxCrypt because that's overkill for me but would still add a password and do it quicker.

A:Faster way to password-protect individual files/folders

I have installed software that can encrypt/ decrypt individual files/ folders or multiple files/ folders. It's pretty easy to use via drag/ drop folders/ files that you want to encrypt (accepts multiples) or select via right click context menu.

Right click a file/ folder to encrypt/ decryptDrag 'n' Drop multiples to encrypt/ decryptEncryted files have .pcr extensionIf you use the main program window to decrypt files or multiple files it totally and permanently removes encryption and restores the default file extension.

If you decrypt via click and open - you are asked for a password to open the file and it remains encrypted when you close the file.

Hello all,
I am fairly new to macros and am looking to split a large word document into smaller files based on a text string within the document, and then save those files as individual word documents, or as a bonus, PDF documents. The text string is "HEADER DATA".

Basically, I want the macro to find the text string "HEADER DATA", then select that page and all pages up to but not including the next instance of "HEADER DATA", then cut those pages from the original document, create a new document with the same formatting/ page layout, and save that document with a new file name. I want the process repeated until the end of the document, and each file saved with a new file name.

Some attributes about the file:

The text string "HEADER DATA" is always in the same location on a page, but is not at the top of the page.
The format and layout of the new document must match the current document.

Here is something I came up with (don't laugh too hard, lol). This will extract the first pages as intended, and saves the new file, but then Word stops responding. I don't quite know what the error is. Thank you in advance for any help.

What's the fastest way to get to a program's executable file, and is there a way for Win 7 to display file extensions? For example, I might want to find the specific .exe file that launches XYZ program, so I click on the Start button, then click on "Computer" on the right side of the screen, then click on OS (C, then click on the XYZ Program Files folder, go down the list and click on the largest file I can find that's labeled "Applicaton" because I don't see any .exe extension and see if that launches the program. A:Locating Specific Files

1) To display file extensions, in windows explorer click on Organize tab at the top left of the window, click on Folder options, click on View tab. uncheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types", click Apply, click OK.

2) To search for specific file extensions, you can use the syntax Type:=.doc (if you are looking for .doc files) in the search box in explorer, you can pre-select the location (drive/folder) where you want to search. See this page for more info.

How can I copy the video used with the menu on a movie DVD? I have Windows XP Home Edition. I don't have a DVD burner with my CD-ROM drive. I just want to copy the short video file onto my hard disk and be able to play it back.

Hi there. First, let me apologize in advance if I'm posting this in the wrong area.

I did a complete scan of my computer today with Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic. Most of the warnings that came up, I could easily conclude as actual viruses/trojans, but three warnings have popped up that I'm not sure about. They sound fairly important, so I don't want to remove anything until I get some feedback. Here are the logs from the three.

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{BAA24442-CF48-419B-A98C-17025D18560A}\RP201\A0036375.dll

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{BAA24442-CF48-419B-A98C-17025D18560A}\RP201\A0036374.exe

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{BAA24442-CF48-419B-A98C-17025D18560A}\RP201\A0036373.dll

Any help would be appreciated. I'm not too bright when it comes to anything too complex. I mainly just want to know if I can delete them via the quarantine, or if I should restore them back to their original location.

Thanks a bunch.

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.

I've created a new thread for your issue here.

Note: You will need to post complete details of your configuration and your specific issue in this new thread for us to help you.

Thanks for your cooperation.

I'm currently installing an application that requires me to block/unblock specific files/folders.  I'm not sure how to do this.  It doesn't specify a specific antivirus.  Right now the one on my computer is Norton Security Suite.  I looked around and didn't see any feature like that.  Is it common for most antivirus software to do that specified function?

A:blocking specific folders/files

What are you installing, and what folders are being requested to be unlocked?

The thread title is a little misleading so let me explain.

I have a directory full of sub-directories containing some files that I need to delete, but others that I need to keep.

I have an exact copy of that directory and its subfolders, containing only the files that I don't want in the original one.

Example:

Directory 1 contains folders 1, 2, 3, and 4. Folder 1 has files a,b,c,d,e and so do folders 2, 3, and 4.

Directory 2 contains folders 1, 2, and 4. Folder 1 has files a,b,d,e and same with folders 2 and 4.

What is contained in Directory 2 is in Directory 1, along with some extras. I want to delete everything in Directory 1 that is in Directory 2, but keep the extras.

Is there any way I can do this without having to go in and manually delete every single file, comparing the two directories while I do it? There are several hundred files in 20+ folders that I need to go through.

I also have no way of simply restoring Directory 1 to its original state, without the files and folders from Directory 2.

A:Mass deleting specific files

Search Google for a 'Duplicate File Finder' which will find all the duplicates and delete them for you.

Not sure if this is the right place to post but I seem to have some weird problem with my PC

I have several HDDs connected to my PC and today i realised for 2 out of 4 drives, all files and folders starting with Q and beyond are completely missing. Not a single file remains. Either it's data corruption or some malware or someone deliberately tampered with my PC.

There's nothing inside the recycle bin and I haven't emptied it.

A:All files and folders after a specific letter are all gone?

Do you really suppose someone deleted your data ? Come on

Install and Use a Partition Managing program to explore the drives, I`m sure your files are still there.

Vista automatically backs up my computer files to my external hard drive every week. But these files are used for restore, not for storage. I was wondering if someone could help me auto back up my documents, pictures & music to the external hard drive. On my old laptop (running XP), I used to have a "briefcase" in my external hard drive. Every time that was connected, it would automatically add any new files in the briefcase (in this case, music). I am constantly downloading new music & etc. so it's a tedious task to manually back up these files. Please help!!!

Hello

I have a big issue. I work for an IT company, and one of our clients (a company) are having some trouble with the DDE service. Whenever they try to open a .doc(x)/xls/whateveroffice file, it takes ages to open. After troubleshooting for some hours, we found that disabling DDE for the specific filetype worked.

The problem is, that this company has over 100 machines, and we have to disable DDE on 5 filetypes on all of the machines. We do not want to disable the DDE service. Our idea is that the fastest way must be through a login script, but we don't really know how. I have now spent since monday trying to figure out how to do this through the registry, and with many, many failed attempts, I come here to ask for help.
