Unable to install drivers for Audio Interface

Q: Unable to install drivers for Audio Interface

Hi,

Running Windows 7, AMD processors, Asus motherboard.

I have Pro Tools (an audio production software), i have been troubleshooting my PT system for almost 3 weeks now. The problem lies in the fact that i cannot install both drivers needed to run the usb interface. When i go into the device manager i see my interface comes up with an exclamation point. Unfortunately i cannot manually install the drivers necessary to use my interface because there are 2 drivers needed (audio & midi), but in the device manager there is only 1 slot for a driver. I was on remote share all morning with the manufacture of the interface, their senior tech concluded that there is a problem at the root level of my system that is preventing the driver installation to complete. I have been pulling my hair out trying to solve this problem to no avail (other than hair loss).

Things i have tried :

Creating a new admin account and doing a clean install of the software and drivers.
Disabling driver signature enforcement.
Switching usb cable and usb slots.
Calling windows tech support(what a F***ing joke, $80 to get help!!)
Sitting on Avid (maker of the interface/software ) 's forum for 2 1/2 weeks
Remote share with senior tech from Avid for 3 hrs

Any suggestions? The only thing i have not tried yet that i can think of is a reinstall of the OS.

Thanks for your help in advance, i will be in your debt if you can help solve this problem!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Unable to install drivers for Audio Interface

About all that I can recommend is a fresh install of the OS. Personally, I would have tried that first. Install the OS, manually install the motherboard drivers, and then install/test PT system.

So I'm working with an HP Compaq DC7700 Ultra Slim here, it has a mono onboard speaker. It runs Windows XP Professional 32 bit

I installed a Nvidia GT710 and the drivers for it, I forgot to uncheck the Nvidia audio drivers since i wouldnt be using HDMI and didnt need them anyway. This broke the realtek drivers already in the system.

So after removing everything audio related, and the nvidia drivers, i reinstalled the nvidia drivers without the nvidia audio.
Then went to install the realtek drivers again to get my onboard audio back.
Nothing seems to work, the drivers from HP dont work, the drivers directly from realtek dont work, their newest drivers dont work, a few different driver finder programs dont work, ive got nothing. I dont even get an audio mixer panel, opening it up in the control panel just shows "No Audio hardware"

I know its not a hardware issue, i still get the occasional beep from confirmation boxes and such.

I have no idea what to do about this, any help is appreciated, thank you.

Hi, and welcome to TSF.

You said that you uninstalled everything audio related but, to completely clean everything from the system usually requires a special tool.

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...r-uninstaller/

Its named Display Driver Uninstaller but.......

Quote:

Display Driver Uninstaller, or DDU, is a driver utility programs that allows you to remove all traces of NVIDIA, AMD, and INTEL display and audio drivers from Windows.

Maybe worth a try?

I hope I've got this in the right place, I really think I could ask you guys how to do home brain surgery and would not be surprised if one or two of ya could walk me through it step by step. Y'all are indeed the best of the best!! Here's my dilemma. I have acquired a beautiful SeaSound Solo Ex audio interface. I got a Com to serial adapter cable, then a serial to USB adapter cable to connect to my PC as I don't have the proper connection on my mobo. I am using an ASUS Sabertooth 990 r2. I'm not sure where in device manager to look and see if the SeaSound is properly recognized. When I plugged the USB cable into my powered hub Windows found and installed the drivers for my "USB device" as it said. (Win 7 64bit) I feel that I need SeaSound drivers from SeaSound but alas the company is no more. Can someone help me configure this interface properly and maybe direct me to where I might find the drivers I need. I have found several links that look promising but they no longer connect. Thanks so much for any help at all!.

Hoping someone might be able to help with this, as it's driving me crazy. I've posted this on another website forum, but they haven't replied and it's been five days now.

Let me start from the very beginning!

I have an Acer Aspire 3050 Vista 32-bit Home Basic laptop. If you need anymore details, please let me know.

A week ago I finally figured out that you have to mute the speakers in Realtek HD Audio Device so the sound would play through the headphones. About two days after that, no sound would come through the headphones, but would come from the speakers. So my sister suggested we un-install Realtek. I did and then I re-installed it and re-started the computer.

When the computer booted back on, a little thing at the bottom said "installing latest drivers" and then I had to click "allow" to let it search for audio. A few moments later, a box popped up that said it found the audio device but "This operation requires an interactive window station." Yes, that one...

I have enabled UAC since I don't have to click allow on the restricted areas, and I have tried many many suggestions from other forums, but none of them have worked.

I know it's not a hardware problem considering when I'm in BIOs and try to go backwards, beeps come from the speakers so they are working fine. And I'm guessing the "No Audio Output Device is installed" is because I'm not able to update the drivers. Also when I go into Device Manager, there isn't an option for "Sound, audio, or... Read more

Hello everyone,

I'm having a problem using my motherboard?s onboard HD audio instead of my video card?s audio, so without further ado here is the situation;

I have an Asus maximus iii gene motherboard which has a SupremeFX X-Fi built-in sound card (this is a very nice card provided you can use it), on the board I have an ASUS EAH5870 V2 (basically an ATI 5870) which also has onboard audio useable through HDMI. When I first ran Windows 7 X64 the drivers for the video card and its audio were installed first, but then I noticed that my audio jacks (both on the back of motherboard and on the case) won?t work, which is a big problem for me. But at least I have audio through speakers on my monitor (through HDMI).

So to fix the problem I just tried to install drivers from Asus for the X-FI chip, but that failed since no HD audio hardware could be found by the installer. Google-ing the problem I came across hotfixes, which Asus also provides but they are not compatible with windows 7 X64? so I?m back at square one.

It?s worth mentioning I have gone through my device manager and under audio only the ATI HD audio device is visible and I cannot see the X-FI device anywhere.
So I would like help installing drivers for the X-FI chip and use the onboard surround sound and HD audio jack on the case.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this.

A:Onboard audio not working and audio drivers won't install

hkhajavi, welcome to the forums.

First off let me say that despite the fancy sounding name that Asus likes to give some of its onboard audio solutions,in no way shape or form is what is on yours a X-Fi (which I hope you did not try installing any drivers from Creative for as they will not work). Looking at the specs and the download page for your motherboard,

http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_I...TqM&templete=2

yours has the Via audio chip on it (some of the previous versions of the SupremeFX X-Fi used a Soundmax/ADI based audio chip), of which Asus does have a Windows 7 driver for (both 32 and 64 bit). They also appear to have the updated X-Fi software (also known as X-Fi MB, which is where the X-Fi name comes from for the onboard audio; it gets to use some of the X-Fi software, but it is not a X-Fi sound card) available for it under the Utilities section in the downloads.

You may also need to run the updated Intel chipset Utility for the onboard audio to be detected. Once it is detected and the drivers are installed you will then need to open the Windows playback properties and make sure that the onboard audio is set as the default playback device and not the ATI HDMI device.

HI, I just installed windows 2000 professional onto my computer. Everything works fine except that the resolution is really grainy. On some web sites I cannot even make out what the words are. I found out that when I go into my monitor settings in display properties I am unable to install the drivers for my monitor. Does anybody know a way in which I can get around this.

A:monitor drivers unable to install on fresh windows 2000 install

Are you really referring to the monitor drivers or the Dispay Adapter drivers? The symptoms you describe sound like the latter issue.

Monitor drivers are no big deal to install, and even if you don't, Windows should use compatible plug and play drivers. Still it's a good idea to install them -- but you get them from the Monitor vendor site. You get the Display Adapter drivers from the Display Adaptor vendor's site.

What Display Adapter model do you have? And are they properly installed?

To install a Monitor driver, you download and unzip the .inf file from the Vendor. Then you select "update driver" and browse to the location of the file you unzipped. Once installed your Monitor should be recognized by model number.

Hi all,

I'm working on a re-install of all components following a complete corruption of the boot sector on my drive which could not be fixed with repairs. The last time I installed everything fresh, I had no issues. Between then and now, there have been no hardware changes on my system, but now I am having issues installing the IDT Codecs.

I keep getting an error along the following lines:

Quote:
ExitError: Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again.

Running under compatibility mode, and running drivers from both the motherboard CD and the manufacturer website both have the same effect. The CD, when booted, says "This OS not support!" and only contains 32-bit vista codecs. ECS' website download indicates the IDT drivers as being compatible with Win7. Both do not work. It is almost as if the hardware "disappeared," despite the fact that I was using the drivers quite successfully till just 2 days ago, when the boot sector went kaput.

Windows has installed its own default set, which do nothing to power the 8mm jacks which I use with my speakers, but instead put sound through the HDMI, which is useless because I use a dedicated graphics card. I have tried uninstalling this codec and re-installing IDT, to no effect. Windows replaces with its own default codec.

I have referenced this thread here, but offered solutions do not seem to work for me: Intel IDT Audio Driver will not install

A:IDT Audio Drivers Won't Install - Win7x64, clean install

Do you actually have the newer IDT audio chip or an older SigmaTel audio chip. In most cases the newer IDT drivers will not work with the older SigmaTel chips.

If the drivers are Vista compatible and the correct IDT or Sigmatel (32 and/or 64) they should work in Win 7.

When you reinstalled did you install any motherboard chipset drivers? Generally, on a reinstall if the chipset drivers are not installed then some device drivers and especially sound drivers will not install.

Go to Start/Run and type CMD, in the Command Prompt type chkdsk /P/R and hit enter. Now type a Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk Utility will again run at next boot up and try and fix any errors. If this fails, after booting up, go to Start/Run and type SFC /scannow and hit enter, put in the XP CD in and it will take any missing files it needs from the CD.

Uninstalling the Dolby drivers does not work, either through Settings>System>Apps and Features or through Control Panel. Nor does reinstalling the driver after that. Hello, I have just yesterday upgraded from windows xp to win 7 on my pentium 4. I am very satisfied with the end result, because my computer runs much more smoothly with this new os. The only problem is, my audio drivers can't seem to install. I have tried them all, like windows troubleshooting, searching manually for another driver, etc. It just won't work. When I am in the device manager and windows starts searching for the proper driver, it always finds the right one but ultimately ends up saying "High definition audio has a driver problem". So, please don't suggest me the easy, conventional solutions because I tried them already. I read somewhere that I could do a system restore, but won't I then lose all windows 7 updates that I just got yesterday in my upgrade?

Ok this is a LONG story but I desperately need help!

First the facts; I have a Dell Dimension 4550 I purchased in 2002. And it has worked perfectly until now. In September I did a few upgrades, installed a new hard drive and extra memory.

The HD was a Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 8 MB 160 GB. The memory was 1GB 333MHz.

I had NO CLUE on how to install the drivers to get on the Internet. I called my ISP and spoke to CSR and the guy on the line was happy to guide me through on how to install the drivers.

Problem solved (or so I thought).

Flash forward to yesterday. I downloaded updates for my PGP and when I re-started the computer, I got a message saying that Windows would not start because of a virus on the HD. I can?t even get into safe mode to uninstall PGP or do a virus scans. The HD is dead and unable to be used.

So I got a new HD a Western Digital Cavier 160 GB 7200RPM 8GB.I installed Windows XP and few other programs and everything is working fine. Except for the drivers. I have NO CLUE on how to install them.

I called my ISP again, and they said they couldn?t help me. The CSR who originally helped me over the phone wasn?t supposed to do that, as this is a Dell matter. Not an Internet matter.

So I called Dell Canada, and although my warranty had expired they said they would help me. What they said was that I installed Windows XP incorrectly and that the memory I had installed was incorrect.

Yep, usually better to have the most up to date drivers, if for nothing else but stability of the system.

Hey all

I just reinstalled XP after finally sorting out my partition table (dual booting with Ubuntu Linux) and I seem to be having problems with the audio. I have installed the drivers from the disk and ones downloaded from the nvidia website but no luck. Every time I restart I look in device manager and it says no drivers are installed. I go through the wizard and no matter how I try it XP won't install it. Here are some specs

XP Pro SP2
BFGRNF4U
Newest BIOS

I hope someone can help. Not much point in a rig designed for music and gaming if I can't hear anything.

Thanks

A:Nforce 4 Audio drivers will not install

I just reinstalled XP and downloaded the latest forceware drivers. When I start the computer I get a stop error 0x7e. Can anyone please help. XP is useless to me without sound.

Thanks

I am at a loss at the moment as to how to fix this. I have gone through and stopped as many services as I can, but to no avail.

Alright, so my friend built me a computer. It's a good computer. There's only two issues with it: one, there's no playback devices for audio at all, except High Definition Audio device, through HDMI, even with disconnected/disabled devices showing. I have an unused HDMI slot but this appears to be for graphics instead. I installed a Realtek HD audio driver but can't find it anywhere, and it doesn't even appear to have installed properly. As for my graphics, my graphics are using the Standard VGA adaptor although I know that my PC is far better equipped than that, as my Windows subscore is 1.0 (absolute lowest.) Games (even through C++ clients or Steam,) won't launch at all, although Flash and Javascript still play at peak performance. I've tried various driver installs, to no avail.

Can someone help me out, please? I've got no idea what exactly to install and how to enable it. Headphones initially played sound but the playback device for it disappeared eventually for unknown reasons. I have DirectX 11, Java and Flash are both fine and I have no other issues besides zero sound and an inability to play non-Flash/Java games.

I'm on Windows 7 64-bit, and my specs are as follows:
AMD A10-7870K Radeon R7, 12 Computer Cores 4C +8G 3.90GHz
8GB RAM

I don't appear to have a sound card. The only two things that appear to show on device manager are
Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus (currently disabled)
High Definition Audio Device (enabled as it's the ONLY palyback ... Read more

Have a tablet PC that I just installed Seven onto. Even though it's an old box, Windows update found nearly all of the drivers. The one it didn't find is for the AC97 Sigmatel audio.

So, I grabbed the drivers I used for Vista (they're actually XP drivers) and tried to install them. Did this again and again, using different compatibility modes every time. Got no indications of failure, but never worked, either.

Tried removing the device and having Windows Update search for a driver. No luck.

Tried installing driver from selecting from list. Only Sigmatel driver in the list is for HD -- which I don't have.

Even tried the MS WDM driver -- and it refused to install it.

I read in another thread that there are supposedly generic AC97 drivers --but I can't figure out how to install them.

The relevant driver files from Vista are STAC97.sys and staco.dll -- which tells me this is a STACS AC97 audio chip. But I just can't figure out how to get a driver installed.

Can someone please help?

Thanks in advance

A:Sigmatel Audio drivers won't install

Looks like I lucked out and stumbled upon the solution. After trying over a half dozen different drivers, I went to the Fujitsu site, downloaded the old XP driver, set it up in VXP SP2 compatibility mode, and it worked!

Never could get the XP driver to work on Vista; had to use a Vista driver for another model machine.

Another plus for Seven!!

I was trying to fix a hardware issue with my computer (was getting BSODs). Now all my audio drivers are uninstalled and so are my CD/DVD drives! And guess what? Windows refuses to reinstall them! (all fail to install on a restart)

And I quote: "Device driver software was not successfully installed. Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed."

List:
ATAPI DVD A DH20A4P ATA Device
TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652M ATA Device
NVIDIA High Definition Audio (x5)
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 (8851)
Realtek High Definition Audio-failed
MS Streaming Clock Proxy
MS Streaming Quality Manager Proxy
MS Streaming Service Proxy
MS Streaming Tee/Sink-to-Sink Converter (x2)
MS Trusted Audio Drivers

Note: Currently both drivers are showing as "CD-ROM Drive" in Device Manager, and all audio devices currently have the yellow exclamation symbol.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers with no success. Any way that you can think of to help me out will be appreciated.

A:Audio drivers refuse to install?

Drastic - but

In 'device manager' > 'system devices'
Uninstall/delete 'PCI Bus'

reboot

Don't worry, coz it forces Win(7) to find/load majority of it's device drivers again!

See if that works. It will need to connect to the internet too to download latest drivers etc!

Do not load older drivers from CD - unless they are for SATA/Raid hard drive at new install.

Are you sure bios settings are correctly set up and haven't 'glitched' and reset?

Formatted my drives and proceeded to install Windows 8 successfully. While installing all of my drivers every single one of them installed perfectly fine besides IntelRST.

It seems to time out every damn time. I tried to manually install it via device manager and it times out as well. I even reformatted and re installed Windows 8 still no go.

The crazy thing is when I try to manually install it via device manager it times out but the driver shows the correct date so I'm sort of at a loss right now.

I can't understand what to do now, I really need WiFi. I've tried to run it in compatibility mode, I've tried to redownload the driver. I tried to manually point windows to the folder in SWSetup that was created, but it found nothing...

We could help you better if we had a description of that computer.

If it's a factory-brand one, advise us what brand name and model name and model number it is.

If it's a custom/home-made one, advise us the brand name and model number of its motherboard.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Also do the following in that computer:

Download and save the TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe) to the desktop.

After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.

Information about your computer will appear.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE text here.

Hi,

I'm running on Windows XP and I'm unable to install my mobo drivers. It's an Asus A8N-E. When I try to install them directly from the CD, it shows the installation completing, and then a window pops up displaying only "1155:". I tried downloading the latest drivers from both the nVidia website and the Asus website, and neither work. When they are installed, Windows will attempt to load, and then blue screen and restart. When I go into Safe Mode and look at the device manager, it shows a yellow mark on the Network Bus Enumerator.

A:Unable to install mobo drivers

Can you get into XP ? If not use Safe Mode, either way do :-
My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab, in the Startup and Recovery section press the Settings button, in the System Failure section untick Automatically restart, Ok, Apply, Ok

Now cause the BSOD and it should stay on-screen, note the details and include in your next post please.

So yesterday I got a new Deathadder 2013, and when I plugged it in, windows tried to find the drivers, blah blah blah, and then it said that it was unable to find the drivers. So, being as it is the solution to everything, I just restart my computer and boom; the mouse worked after.

But today, when I start my computer, the mouse was once again, not working. After checking device manager, it told me that the drivers were missing. I've tried uninstalling the mouse via the device manager and plugging it back in, and restarting my computer to no avail. I tried the solution posted here Unable to install any USB devices as well.

I have however, tried to use the mouse on my other computers and that has proved successful. So, I was wondering if anyone knew where the mouse drivers are stored, if it works that way.

and I do have razer synapse installed.

A:Unable to install mouse drivers

Maybe Razer Synapse is conflicting with the Windows drivers, you could try un-installing Razer Synapse and then seeing if Windows recognizes and installs the drivers.

In the last few days I have added a larger Hard Drive (3TB) to my system to be the main drive of the system, and all went well untill I tried to install the Graphics Drivers of my existing AMD Radeon HD 6700 series Card which installed OK on my other Drive (I don't know why) at this time.

What I did and what happened:
First I restarted the system after I had installed all the mother-board drivers, and replaced the mother-board DVD with the AMD driver disc and executed the installer from the disc.
BTW the system had been running in 640 x 480 resolution since starting the installation of the new drive.
The first 2 screens worked fine in this resolution, the the next screen was displayed which is where everything came apart, because the size of the next screen was too large to fit on the screen so the bottom of the screen was cut off the bottom, which of course is where the buttons were that needed to be pressed to continue the installation.
I have tried eveything to be able to press the required buttons, but to NO avail, so at this time everything is running except the Graphics Card and Driver.

I would appreciate any help. I think I managed it once before but I have forgoton how I did it (unfortunatly I am now Old as my daughter told me today, and my memory is on it's way for a holiday) so I just hope it comes back soon.

Thanks in advance

I'd just use one monitor until you have the AMD drivers and Catalyst Control Center installed. Then go about sorting out your multi monitor setup.

I bought a new laptop recently and am having some trouble getting it up and running. I've managed to get windows installed but cannot get drivers onto it. Here's some info:

It only has USB 3.0 ports and no driver's so they aren't useable
There's no option in the BIOS to force them into 2.0
No CD or DVD drive
No network capabilities at all, no adapters are identified/no drivers for network card I guess
I have drivers on a CD but I have absolutely no idea how to transfer them over. I have access to other laptops and computers. I've tried connecting it to another laptop via Ethernet but the new laptop didn't find anything.

The only way I managed to install windows is via USB with the Intel USB 3.0 bootable tool, but that didn't seem to install the drivers and that USB isn't readily accessible right now.

Any ideas?

Hi welcome to seven forums (if you havent been welcomed yet)

Now, this may be a dumb question, but did you format and start a clean install?

- if not, insert your windows 7 cd in the dvd rom, restart pc and go into your bios (usually pressing "delete" at startup gets you in the bios) go to boot options and select your dvd/cd rom as primary boot device. press f10 to save and exit. When asked to press any key to boot from cd do it, and follow instructions, make sure to do a clean format on your selected hdd and reinstall windows. After this and windows booted up,you can install you new motherboard drivers along with any other drivers you need.

When done with all the drivers restart and go into bios again and select the hdd as the primary boot device.

If you have done a clean format in the very beginning after you installed the new mb and cpu, check that your hdd settings in bios is IDE.

Hope this helps.
