Sign came up on website must pay a fine or computer will crash in 40 days

Q: Sign came up on website must pay a fine or computer will crash in 40 days

I had a narrow sign saying on a website saying, I broke the law and unless I pay a certain amount 500.00 by 40 days my computer will crash? I have windows 7, and Norton, I did not click on anything, but logged off immediately , and ran Norton eraser, with no virus found. However I am still worried that in 40 days my computer will crash. I do not know if the intrusion was blocked for sure. Everything is working now perfectly, and there has been no signs of anything in control of windows 7 of my computer. But now am I still in danger of this as maybe a hacker, that could crash my computer in the future? Or not?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A few days ago, my computer was working fine, I had no problems.
But yesterday, I tried to boot up, and as usual, took me to the login screen. I log in and everything is horrible. the mouse is lagging and jerks around, the bar with the start button doesn't respond, and initially everything was just extremely slow. I tried to open my antivirus to run a scan to try to find a problem, but everytime I click on something the computer freezes and doesn't register that I tried to open a program. So I restarted the computer and tried to wait a bit to let it catch up before I try to do anything but after a few seconds it just bluescreens. I've tried going into the boot settings and using the last good configuratoin, but that didn't help. The only thing I can think of to do is completely reinstall Windows and I'd rather not do that. I guess it wouldn't be too horrible as everything that I can think of that I really care about keeping is also saved to cloud storage, but I would still rather not have to reinstall everything I have as well.

Has anyone else had similar problems and can I fix it without completely reinstalling Windows?

Welcome to the forums!

Did you boot into safe mode to run antivirus there? Are you seeing the bad behavior in safe mode also? Hopefully not.
Alternatively, boot to your repair disc (CD). You have one, right?
Finally, do you have access to another computer you can use? You could pull the drive on the 1st computer and repair the software on the second computer (accessing the drive as as an external device).

I have an odd situation whereby I can access http://internal.mywebsite.com from any browser, but HTTPS doesn't work on older computers (2003) when using IE. If I use Chrome from the same computer, it works fine.
The SSL certificate is from out root CA and is trusted by all clients.
The only non standard thing about the website is that it uses a NetScaler for SSL offloading so that:
Browser HTTPS ---> NetScaler SSL offloads --> HTTP back to website
The error within IE 8 is a generic "page cannot be displayed".
How can I troubleshoot this?

Hello all,

Straight to the issue:

My internet has been fine, for a while now... then all of a sudden i am not getting a signal...

what i know:
- there were no cable outages in my area
- i have a 2:1 cable splitter in my room (1 for tv and 1 for the modem)
- when i plug the cable from the jack right into the modem it works
- thinking the splitter might be bad i went and purchased a new splitter.
- i have tested multiple wires from the splitter to the modem

So i am not sure what i can do to resolve this issue... why would my modem not detect a signal coming from a splitter all of a sudden?

Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks ahead of time everyone!

I have been trying to sign into Windows Live Messenger through a variety of ways including the official client and various web clients, but have not been able to connect. I have restarted my computer and router several times which didn't help, but it would appear that it is not a problem with my router as my brother's account works fine on the same connection I have been trying to use. His account is with hotmail whereas I use a gmail account to sign in.
I have received error code 81000306, but have found that none of the suggested trouble shooting methods work
Any ideas?

Hey SevenForums.

I've had my system just comming upto 12 months now and this is the first time ive experienced a BSOD. Since the 18th January ive had 2 BSOD's a day. The first time I noticed it I was playing music with WMP, then a couple where from browsing the internet with Firefox, and the most recent one was when I was copying some files to a CD with Nero.

Not sure what has caused the problem either. The only recent thing I can think of is when I plugged in a 3.5mm jack into my Soundcard for Line-Input, thats about it.

Included is the .zip recomended by the sticky, below is a minidump i get when Windows recovers.

First, my laptop is not my main computer for gaming, but I use it occasionally when my girlfriend needs my desktop and I want to play NBA 2K11. The game began running very sluggishly when playing (menus are fine), and the fps dropped from 40 fps to 15 fps. It was fine when I played on the 13th of November, but it is now unplayable. I have not changed any of the video settings in the game, so I know that is not the issue.

In the time since it worked, I have installed some video capturing software to work with my Hauppauge HD PVR. Arcsoft TotalMedia Extreme, and Hauppauge WinTV, which includes BlastCfg, Scheduler, and TitanTV Remote Scheduler. I have tried doing a clean disk, check disk, and defrag. Clean disk cleaned up 208 files freeing up ~4GB of space. Check disk found no errors. My files were 1% fragmented, but are now at 0%.

One issue I did find is that my driver is one year out of date, and I cannot find a suitable driver through NVIDIA to fix it. The one that is supposed to go with my graphics card says it cannot find suitable hardware when it scans for the graphics card (yes I ran as administrator).

I have also turned off all non Microsoft services and processes associated with the new software as well as adobe, apple, etc. to no avail. I also changed system startup to not launch any unnecessary programs. I will provide the startup and services images as well.

My system specs are provided in the image attachment.

Anyone who can help, I really appreciate it.

Do you have an up-to-date antivirus and have you checked for them (viruses)?

Here is a good link that may help get your computer speed up to par, following it will get you a whole bunch of different fixes for speed: Optimize Windows 7

I wouldn't go as far as to disable services, but to clear your startup folder of all programs (unless you use one or two right away) is a good idea. I would only use system configuration for troubleshooting, but it is your call.

In disk cleanup, there are lists that actually make your computer a tad faster (windows files) so I'd only get rid of stuff like offline files, etc.

In control panel, you don't have programs installed that you don't want or aren't aware of do you? (Avoid uninstalling drivers, etc.)

You have all the most recent and correct drivers installed on your computer? What nvidia product do you have that needs a driver? Are your system specs on this website up to date so I can let you know where to go from here?

This problem isn't specifically audio related but I posted it here because it's the thing that is affected that bothers me most. I suspect all these problems are related.

Mods, sorry if this is more suitable for another forum.

Basically, at one time my audio playback and recording would skip, crack and pop but then I realised that I was still using my old sound-card instead of the Toneport UX1, which is what I use now. After I made that switch there were no more skips, cracks or pops during playback or recording but now there are, and I'm using the UX1. It started again about 5 days ago and I have no idea why. However, I think these cracks and pops come from spikes in the CPU, because if I don't do anything to significantly use CPU, like open a new program or change windows, the cracks are more infrequent. But again, this never happened before so I don't know why it is now.

Also since around 5 days ago I've been experiencing the taskbar and window frames changing to Classic of their own accord. After an indefinite period of time the taskbar will flash and change into Classic, or some mangled hybrid of XP and Classic. As soon as it does that in Sounds & Audio Devices every option gets greyed out and no sound card can be, or is, selected, when before this everything would say UX1 and would work. The only way to fix it is to restart, but then it's just a matter of time before it happens again. This has happened before and I suspec... Read more

A:Audio playback and recording crackles when everything was fine a few days ago

What motherboard do you have? Check if the default BIOS have the onboard sound enabled, and if so, disable it. (assuming you have onboard audio).

If you're worried about heat being a problem, install CoreTemp and enable logging. Then if your computer crashes again, you can go back and check the logs and see if there was some kind of heat spike when it crashed. If removing dust made it run better, heat could be an issue.

I also see that your audio card is USB. I couldn't see if it has a power adapter on their web site. If it does not, maybe you have a problem with it getting enough power.

Try using a different browser such as firefox or netscape. Other than that its will possibly be a problem either with your account with the website, or the website itself.

Roughly a week ago for an unknown reason I became unable to log into Windows Live Messenger 2012. Up until this point I was using 2012 just fine. If I uninstall and install 2011 I can sign in fine, which seems to rule out firewall/antivirus issues. I can log in with my account on the web and other devices. If I re-install 2012, no luck

I've tried virtually every process listed on the Internet and cannot resolve this. Worse, the error message has changed as I try different fixes. Currently it is 800706be. I've completely deleted Windows Essentials multiple times and always get the same issue

MalwareBytes and Kaspersky scan comes back clean. I've run registry fixes with RegCure and RegZooka

From the Messenger splash screen

If I go to Options > Connections > Advanced Settings and Test the HTTP connection setting i get the followingle

"We are unable to connect (80072f06)"

when I try to sign into Messenger, it says the service is unavailable and leaves the following in the Event Viewer

Hi. There are 4 days now since I cannot login into the infolinks website. I have messaged support twice and they told me that their system shows that i have logged about each day into the site.
What happens is that when I press the login button on to the infolinks website (with the good user and passwd) nothing happens. Is like that login button does not have any action. I push and push and the login page does not change.
I am using Win 10 and firefox
What I tried:
-clear cookies and history
-use different browsers (IE, Chrome, Safari)
-assure that I am on the good publisher site
-press login then trying to go directly from the navigation bar to the publisher dashboard, with the good dashboard address (It shows me again a similar login page where I get the same result logging-nothing)
-use a different Internet provider (my mobile provider), a different IP and a different device (my tablet)
-use the facebook login (it says my account email is not linked with the facebook login)
-print the HTML source page of the publisher login and send it to infolinks support

Nothing worked so far, yet they told me that their system shows I was logged in at about each of my attempts.
What is wrong, please? Can anyone help me with this?

A:Cannot login into infolinks website since 4 days now

I would have thought clearing cookies would have solved your problem. I would have also suggested add-ons or possibly security software as something to look at but the same add-ons and security software would have to be identical with all the browsers and devices you've used which I'm thinking would not be the case.

Would you be interested in installing the Firefox browser. Firefox provides excellent native Page Information where you can deal with website specific cookies directly (add-ons can do this but it's always nice to have this native to the browser). I personally use Pale Moon which I really do like (don't much care for the direction Firefox is headed post version 42 anymore), but since Firefox does provide the best access to cookies that I'm aware of I thought I'd just suggest this to you.

Since about three weeks ago I have been unable to sign into a website that I'm a member of. I enter my username and password and it accepts them, only to then re-load the same page again ready for me to sign in, right back at square one. I can access the website fine though my laptop using the same internet connection and if I create a new XP user profile I can also sign in, but I cannot with this profile. Every other website I'm a member of works fine, its only this one that won't. Any ideas at all what I could do? I've done all the usual deleting of cookies and temp files several times over and reset to default settings etc.

A:Website sign-in problem

I get that if I've blocked a Cookie that I shouldn't have. Have a go at looking at your Blocked Cookies and see if it's listed. If you can't see it, type in the URL of the site and set to Allow.

Hope this helps

I have a Windows 7 Professional install on a newish laptop that is unable to sign into one particular website. I can navigate to the website ok, enter the user-id and password (which works fine on other machines with the same setup) but when I press enter the fields go blank with no error message. I've tried IE11, Chrome & Firefox, disabling the firewall and AV software, swapping between the wireless adapter and the ethernet adapter, running the Microsoft fix for the hosts file, flushing dns, changing machine name, creating another user account on the machine, resetting IE to default settings, putting the website into a trusted zone, running Ccleaner to clean out cookies and temp data and quite frankly I'm at a loss as to what to do next.
I've enabled event logging in IE through a registry setting but nothing is logged.
The website can be signed into on other machines with Win 7 and Win 8 running IE or Firefox with no special setup and the same userid and password so it appears machine specific but what it is beats me. My next idea is to swap the hard drive into another identical laptop to see what happens....
Any ideas considered !

I'm not doing anything different when the crash happens, meaning i pretty much have the same programs open all the time which makes it confusing why the crashes happen.

Minidumps are attached to this post. Crash happens every 4 days, but 1 minidump file is missing because i tried reinstalling windows and forgot to save last one. But then another crash happened after reinstalling.

I tried looking at the dumps myself and 2 of them showed files i couldn't find on system or internet

I have not clicked on any of the emails to know if they mentioned any other personal information.
In the past I have signed up for a few contests from well-known companies and some coupon distributors, all using my real name and email address. Are these companies selling my information or do companies crawl the internet until they find an email with a name attached, then send out bogus user verification emails? My Internet Connection is fine but I'm just having problems connecting to ONE site (http://www.photobucket.com) on the whole of cyberspace. Access was only broken since 2 days ago. I've changed nothing in terms of configuration. I just work up one morning and it became like that. T_T

I am using Netgear WGR614 v4 (Firmware is the lastest version.), Windows XP Professional SP2.

Measures I have taken so far:

1. Cleared Internet Cache and Cookies.
2. Rebooted router, modem and computer.
3. Done spyware and virus checks. (Spybot, Ad-Aware, Norton Antivirus)
4. Tried accessing it in different browsers. (IE7 and Flock 0.7.14)
5. Confirmed that my ISP is not the culprit by doublechecking with a friend who has the same ISP. She reaches the site fine.
6. Turning off Firewall. [Norton Internet Security 2005]
7. Adding http://*.photobucket.com and http://www.photobucket.com to the Internet Options Trusted Sites.
8. Resetted my router settings back to default ones.

Some Observations:
1. My notebook connected to wireless network accesses the site fine.
2. When I rebooted my router, modem and computer, access was granted to me temporarily. IE. I could hit the homepage, but after that access is lost.
3. I can access the site through a proxy server fine.

The Intel AC3165 wifi adapter on my Inspiron 7559 periodically will disconnect every couple of minutes and most the time I have to go through the Disable/Enable route to get it to work.  But then, magically, it will start to work properly and will do so for several days until the problems start again.
I have the latest driver installed ( and I have turned off the "allow operating system to turn off wifi" switch.  And I have played with other settings until I am blue in the face.
Furthermore, even when the adapter doesn't continually disconnect, it is totally unreliable when switching from one wifi source to another.  Sometimes the change is easy, but many times I have to reboot the computer to make it happen.  Very frustrating.

Hi, recently i've been having trouble with my computer. I can't get online using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc. But other applications such as MSN work perfectly.

Im currently using Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. It's a Gateway Desktop, and my virus software is McAffee, and my firewall is Zonealarm. I know my firewall isn't the one causing trouble, because I allowed all my Internet Browsers complete access to the internet. I am networking through a wireless network in my home, which has several other computers/game consoles connected. Not more than 10, I can assure you.

This occured after I updated with Windows Update. I had 2 optional updates that failed, and one of them were completed. When I restarted, it couldn't pass through that green loading bar screen. So I shut it off and turned it on again, taking me to System Repair. I then said yes to taking my computer back to when it was functioning before.

Uhm, I also recently un-installed programs that I don't use. None of them were crucial ones, just programs like old games. But I did un-install Windows Live OneCare Family Safety, because it kept asking my password everytime I wanted to visit a website. Also, I restarted only once after I was all done, so I didn't restart after each program I finished removing.

All your help will be gladly appreciated. I am currently using a temporary computer, but all my documents are on my primary computer, the ones that having problems. Tha... Read more

As Title says the BSOD occured while i was NOT at the PC, and it had been on for about 20-30 days without a reboot.

Now this shouldn't really cause a BSOD either way which makes me wonder what the problem is, i can't really get it by looking at the dump file, so here i am hoping that someone have any idea what it can be.

As said above, it was random, i was not there, and i wasn't doing anything special like using hardware etc, it as pretty much having internet browsers on and being at desktop with a media player on but paused.

A:Crash occured Random when not used, was on for 20+ days.

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

Is there any particular reason that you haven't upgraded to Win8.1? I ask in case you had problems trying. Please don't upgrade to 8.1 while we're troubleshooting as it can introduce more issues and complicate the analysis.

One lone memory dump doesn't often provide enough info for a firm diagnosis. Also, a single memory dump will often fix itself (with Windows Updates). Please ensure that you have all available Windows Updates (it may take several trips to get all of them).

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Processor may be overclocked!
Expected Frequency: 2800
Actual Frequency: 4013
Overclock Ratio: 1.43321

Test to see if removing the overclock stops the BSOD's. Overclocks may degrade over time - as the hardware ages more rapidly under the additional stress of the overclock.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.... Read more

I have emailed the websites support twice expressing my concerns but i would like to know exactly what i could do about this but i am still unsure as i don't think i can complain to anyone or take things further.

They have failed to reply to 2 of my emails

Maybe someone signed you up for the site as a joke.

You could log in to the site. Look around for a way to delete your account. If you find one, delete it.

Hi all, I've had this problem for some months now, and I can't seem to fix it despite my best efforts. When I try and write a dvd-r the computer freezes solid, and I have to restart. I've tried different software, a different drive, and changing the ram. I've also reinstalled a hard disk image to where everything was working - all to no avail. By chance I found out this weekend though that it will write to dvd+r disks with no problem (I've never used them before). Oh yes, if I use my video editing software to write my video to dvd-r that appears to be working okay. I hoped somebody somewhere might be able to glean something from the disparity between dvd+r and dvd-r disks- its certainly got me beat. I'm using xp home edition, service pack 3, the drive is an LG supermulti, I have 4 GBs of ram fitted and its an AMD Phenom II 3.4 quad core cpu. Thanks for any help.

Ever since I reinstalled Windows 7 Pro on my desktop, new websites (or websites I've left alone for a 'while') are slow to visit on my UK broadband connection.

I'm sure there are dozens of potential sources for the problem, but I'll try and be as specific as possible. I'm techy (since I program for a living), but know next to nothing about networks or troubleshooting internet/network problems.

Here we go. The problem is with my desktop's internet connection, though my laptop (which is also connected to the same wireless home network) has no problem, so I don't think the problem is with my ISP or Belkin ADSL2 Wireless-G router/modem.

I thought the problem was the 'ping', but speedtest.net reports 30ms ping and 2mbps download, which is about the same as my laptop. I also tried Firefox as well as Chrome, but the problem occurs there too.

Even Google will take around 10-20 seconds to load on a 'first' visit. The screen is blank meanwhile, and the mouse cursor changes to the 'waiting' mode.

I tried "Troubleshoot problems" in Windows' "Network and Sharing Center", but Windows didn't find any problem.

How can I go about fixing this?

A:'Lag' occurs when first loading a website though reported ping is fine

Okay, this thread can go into 'suspend' at least for a bit. I also tried to unplug/replug the router, and (shock), reboot the PC, and it's much better, more like 1-4 seconds. Perhaps there's a way to cut this down even further (?), though I guess certain sites and/or locations have a natural lag to them anyway due to distance or server quality etc.
Anyway, I'll update if the problem reoccurs.

I am running a pretty new PC with Windows 7. This weekend I updated Itunes to the latest version, and did a restart. After the restart, I was unable to connect to any website, using IE or Chrome. I was also unable to update anything (like my malware software definitions). However, my Internet connection is just fine. Under network connections everything looks good, and I am able to connect to an online chess server and play chess games, so I know there's no issue with my connection.

Now, I run my malware program and it finds and fixes 7 issues. I assume this must be what's causing the problem. After another restart, a second malware scan comes up clean, same with my virus software. However, still unable to connect to anything online other than the chess server.

Finally, I pull an older computer out of the basement, disconnect the cat 5 going to the new computer, and connect it up to my older computer. I was surprised to get the very same issue -- I was unable to connect to any website, but the Internet connection is fine. So, I have to assume that the malware was never the issue, unless it possibly reset some settings with my router or modem? The old and the new computer were never connected in any way, so it's not possible that the malware infected the old computer.

Any suggestions? I have been struggling with this for a couple of days now and really could use some help. Thanks!

A:I can't visit any website, even though my Internet connection is working fine.

My Name is Kaushal and I work for social media and community Team at Dell.
It seems like it's a connectivity issue with the computer.
1: Try to turn off the modem for 30 sec and disconnect the Ethernet cable from computer and restart, once the commuter starts you have the desktop window up and turn on the internet modem and once all the lite on the modem gets stable, after that please check the internet.

2: The best option would be to restart your computer and TAP F8 and it will take to black windows where in , You can select "safe mode with networking".
Once the computer starts then check the internet connection and if it works fine it means it could be something in the computer which is blocking the internet. Like an Anti Virus like MacAfee, Norton, Avast

3:If these 2 doesn’t solve the problem as you mentioned you tried the second computer, it Also doesn’t work in that case please get in touch with your internet service provider.
You will surely have the solution

I am getting computer crashes every day or two. Most of the time it happens when computer is idle. I have recently replace RMA'd the SSD as it completely died. System performs well other then this issue.

It is crashing to reboot but not giving a BSOD.

I have ran memtest for about 24 hrs with no issues. This is a fairly new install, but the issue has happened since computer was built. I am thinking it is either the SATA controller on the motherboard or a compatibility issue between that and the SSD.

Better you dont allow it to be auto started. Call it on necessity. Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

I recently had a hard drive crash. Because of this, I got out my back up 3tb HDD installed it, And re installed windows 8. I've spent the last 2 days updating, and at random times it likes too crash with the error look up of "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT". I can't seem to figure this out. I re-formatted the rest of my drive after installing Seagates' Disc-Wizard to unlock my other 2.3TB, as windows only showed 756. I even Re-Installed windows, But no matter what I do, This seems to happen. I did download the SF Diagnostic tool, But I cannot get .Net framework 3.5 to download, Always sais it cannot be completed with this error code-0x800F0906
After doing some research. I find Microsoft "solution" to this. What I got out of it, is that I needed to install optional updates. I attempt to install optional updates, and after I started it I needed to leave for (Well call it work)Work. After I had returned an hour or so later, It had not done anything. After Moving the mouse, It crashed with the same reason.
At this point I am completely lost. This is The first Problem I have ever had with my PC I couldn't fix on my own.I really appreciate any help givin to me with this.I can't do without being able to reliably use my PC for much longer, as it's just as much a work machine as it is a Personal one.

Yahoo website stopped opening in my Linux Fedora 14 Laptop about ten days back

Used nmap like this about one day before that:

nmap -A -T4 in.yahoo.com

How to find out if Yahoo has blocked my machine as an attacker ?
Browser (SeaMonkey) says "Connected to in.yahoo.com" and then quickly goes to "Waiting for in.yahoo.com...".
After a few seconds even that message goes away from the browser status bar and the window remains blank.

It is a difficult situation as I depend a lot on yahoo email. Have used yahoo as my main email for over 15 years and never had such problems.

What is blocking the page from loading ?
Entered the address which quickly brings up the yahoo main page at http://failsafe.fp.yahoo.com/
However this page does not go to the mail page even after clicking the mail links.

My computer is brand new, about two months old, and I haven't used it too much yet. Today, while signing in to my Windows account, the computer crashed. It was rather odd too.
I typed in my password and the "loading circle" appeared. The loading circle then froze in place followed by the monitor going blank and then saying it wasn't getting any signal. The computer was still running and the monitor connections were fine, but the screen was still blank. I couldn't even shut the computer off by holding down the power button. I must have held it down for at least 15 seconds, way longer than usual to force a shutdown. The computer reset button was unresponsive as well. I tried both buttons multiple times but they did nothing. I had to resort to manually shutting off the power supply unit (which I really did not want to do).
What happened?

A:Crash During User Sign In (Windows 8)

The problem may be worse than I thought.
It just happened to me again. This time, I had booted up the computer and it was just sitting at the user log in screen and then the screen went black, but the machine stayed on. I tested the monitor by removing the connection from the GPU and plugging it in to the connection that connects to the motherboard. Nothing. Power button ceases to work and I have to shut the computer off by shutting down the power supply. (And I have tested this, I can shut the computer down by holding down the power button, when the computer actually boots correctly).
My problem is very similar to this persons here although I am not overclocking. Also, once my computer gets past the log on screen it seems to be fine.
I'm starting to think this is a hardware issue or maybe I am drawing too much power on the PSU (although I should only be using about 50% at most of the max 520W  rating).
I'm getting very worried.

Hi guys, currently trying to resolve an issue with my girlfriend's PC! Nightmare!

Here's the context:

She's recently upgraded to a GTX 970 and an SSD with Windows 10 (using the free upgrade from a fresh 8.1 install) and on the first boot after the upgrade everything seemed to be working fine. She booted the next day to find that about 20-30 seconds after logging in the monitor would just blank and the only way of progressing would be to restart. Repeat ad infinitum!

She has an 8.1 installation on a separate mechanical drive which works fine (although it did actually suffer from the same issue before I clean installed the nVidia drivers, which seemed to resolve the issue).

I've tried to clean install drivers on the 10 installation, installed chipset drivers, monitor drivers (!?), all to no avail. It just crashes. This is all from safe mode, which works fine as expected. This is what made me think it was a driver issue.

Any ideas? The chipset thing was as far as I think I can take it without asking you guys for help!

When I try to access this website the windows authentication pop-up appears.
Moreover no chance to remember my credentials. If I restart Edge and open this website than authentication form appears
At IE and Chrome the user is automatically authenticated without any windows authentication form, no issue.

In addition to that I played with "Internet Options\Local Intranet" and "Internet Options\Trusted sites"
and "Logon options" ("Automatically logon only on Intranet zone", "Automatically logon with current user name and password". Nothing helped.

Any ideas how to suppress this annoying authentication dialog?

Hi, Struggling with some odd behavior on my website under Explorer, but works fine under Netscape. From my home page:

when a section is selected from the pulldown menu at the bottom, it begins on a fresh screen under Netscape (as its supposed to), but under Explorer, no fresh screen, and the viewer has to scroll down below the home page! Subsequent section selections work fine under both - its just the first selection under Explorer that problem occurs.
a setUp function is called in each section to activate the section page. In that function is a statement: parent.frames[0].document.clear()
which presumably begins the fresh screen ...
How can I brute force Explorer to begin the first selected section on a fresh screen?
Thanks for any help - it is driving me nuts! Feel like I am developing a videotape that must work under Betamax and VHS ! Learning as I go ...

About a week ago, seemingly at random, I started getting lag spikes, where my audio would distort and mouse movement would be slowed, and basically everything would slow down for a few seconds. This has persisted over the last week, not always starting as soon as the PC would be turned on (I was doing troubleshooting of my own last night, which required the PC to be restarted several times, and I could recreate the lag from startup, whereas today it was only hours into use that it began). It seems to be when something is loading, mainly, but can also be while idle. I've been using DPC latency checker to monitor it (DPC claims it's a driver issue, but I've attempted to pinpoint it by disabling one by one with little results).

This eventually culminated in a BSOD, but not like I was used to. It was as if my computer was shutting down. My browser and all my programs shut themselves down, I got a couple of errors about my program's services being stopped while in use, which I clicked through, and only once nothing but my wallpaper was onscreen (no toolbar or anything) did the BSOD pop up. I was obviously worried, but relieved I'd have a crash dump to investigate. At the time I had it set to a kernel memory dump, but nothing has been generated. I have now switched to a Small Memory dump, but am unable to recreate the BSOD. I'm able to recreate the lag once it has started by itself, but before it starts I'm unable to recreate it.

I hope I've provided enough information/poste... Read more

I have a friend who's computer works great on my network and my computer works great on his network, but when his computer is hooked to his network internet connectivity is slow and intermittantly fails.

Both computers are were connected directly to the router via the same ethernet cable, both units are laptops.

Again, vista believes it is connected to the internet, and it is, but the connection is just horrible. At my house it works beautifully.

His computer that is not connecting:
HP pavilion dv6748us.
procesor is AMD turion64x2
OS VISTA Home Premium 32bit
2 gb RAM

My laptop that worked on his connection is:
old SONY with windows XP pro
1gb RAM

Already have done the following:
Reset internet explorer 7
used the MSCONFIG console to turn off ALL startup processes just in case.
Ran a quick scan with superantispyware

I would have tried a differant browser but I could not download it, took it to my house so I could use a flash drive or let it sit forever and download and to my amazement there was no connectivity issues whatsoever.

But it doesn't crash if I do it from Firefox. I download flash player, and youtube works in Firefox. But it still down't work in IE. But Adobe.com still causes a crash in IE.
