x240 power manager 1.67.09.03 and Lenovo Dependenc...

Q: x240 power manager 1.67.09.03 and Lenovo Dependenc...

The latest driver and dependency software DOES NOT WORK correctly. I can manage battery 1 or the internal battery, but I cannot manage battery 2. Once I get the driver installed. I change the following in the registry.ChargeStartControl 35 (decimal)ChargeStartPercentage 35 (decimal)ChargeStopControl 100 (decimal)ChargeStopPercentage 100 (decimal) The changes made here ONLY EFFECT battery 1, battery 2 will not charge above 85%. Now after intalling the Lenovo Settings tile and looking in the power area, it shows that battery 1 is set correctly. Battery 2 is set to start changing at 101% and stop charging at 150%!!!! I cannot find these numbers in the registry. Better question is why doesnt lenovo settings have a hook to make adjustments to battery management!!! Frustrated!!! This works find in windows 7, windows 8 Lenovo drop the ball.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Tried Power Manager 1.67.04.04 as well. Same problem, battery 2 will not charge over 85%. I have also tried removing the Microsoft ACPI drivers. What I would like to know is what is controlling the second battery. Where is it reading those settings from.

I was looking in my Device Manager the other day, when I noticed something odd: there were two devices related to Lenovo Power Management.   I looked at the properties of both of them and this is what I found:  The first one, "Lenovo PM Driver", is the one that shows up for download on the support page for the Lenovo T430 as it matches the version number. I have no idea what the second one "Lenovo Power Manager" is, at nothing with its version number appears on the website at all. Does anyone know what the second one is and if should it be there?

A:Lenovo PM Device vs. Lenovo Power Manager

I do not know if it SHOULD be there or not BUT I show the same 2 drivers with the same 2 version numbers on my X1Y3.  By the way Lenovo Power Manager was installed by windows 10 Update not through Lenovo Vantage for me.  Looking at windows drivers update on my laptop I traced it to the below link.

As By default, There is no Lenovo Power Manager in Windows 10 in Lenovo G50-70. So I was searching through Web and found this Support Website https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/solutions/ht103535  and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-10/Power-Manager-for-Windows-10/td-p/2113645/page/3 which States that Laptop Running Windows 10 (G50-70) Support Dual Mode Battery Firmware. So, Is this Information Right and we should not worry regarding Battery Charging just like we used to Threshold Charging in Windows 8.1 via LENOVO POWER MANAGER. I want clarification over this.

I have a two week old Lenovo X1 Carbon 20A7 and from the beginning after simply got Windows7 initial setup with nothing else on, I noted that if I left it to go in sleep or Hibernate, when the lid was closed, upon opening it again, the notebook screen was black although the adaptive keyboard was active and the machine was pingable from the network. No matter what I did I could not get the unit to come back to life so I always had to press the power button until it power cycled to get it back. I noted that I was not alone out there and some reported the issue on earlier X1's Support suggested to send it back and were not helping much. They decided it is either hardware or configuration issue, and in both cases it required a return.  Because the issue was reported in the forums on earlier X1's I decided that it was probably software and I started by disabling all sleep modes only to find out it would still go to sleep. This is how I found out that if the sleep mode was disabled in Power Manager, it would automatically enable in Windows version of the power manager. Disable it in Windows and it would enable in Power manager... yeah - exactly; I had the same reaction.. Same thing with other power functions. So I de-installed Power Manager 6 and bingo, no more issues. But now I get non critical warnings  in Lenovo tools that I have no power manager software installed. Plus I don't get the extra features that are useful in PM6. ... Read more

Can you please tell me exactly the steps to reproduce this?

Is it:
1.  Leave system idle with lid open  (is AC attached or not?)
2.  System automatically enters sleep mode after XXX minutes
3.  Close the lid
4.  Open the lid
5.  Screen stays black?

Or is it something else?

I have Thinkpad W550s running Windows 10 Pro, upgraded from Win 7 Pro. The system tray has this battery icon.?When I right-click on it, I am offered "Launch Power Manager". In Windows 7 this opened a Lenovo app with some interesting capabilities, such as charge/discharge limits when on AC power; however, these capabilities did not often work. After upgrade to Windows 10, the Lenovo app no longer works. Sometimes it brings up the app splash screen and just freezes there. Lately it doesn't even bring up that.Does anyone know how I can simply get rid of this battery icon?

Hi, I'm having problems with my X240. I'm running Windows 10. When I shut down the computer, it stays off for 2seconds and then boots back up. This only happens on battery power, when connected to AC the computer shuts down fine and stays off, BUT if I remove AC it boots up in 1 second.. This is really weird.I've disabled the "Turn on fast startup" option and had a look at the options in BIOS but no luck..BIOS version GIET87WW (2.37). Thanks in advance,Mart

Hello,I'm sitting here absolutely confounded. I just reinstalled Windows on my x240 and decided that, while I was at it, I might as well remove my BIOS password, as I am no longer in school. I primarily use my laptop at home, so a password isn't really necessary.I go into the BIOS and straight to the security tab. I start disabling everything that is enabled and related to Supervisor password, Boot-up password, Start-up password and so forth. At one point, I am prompted to type in my current password and next to fill in my new password and to type it in once more. Being somewhat familiar with how unintuitive a BIOS can be, I leave the fields where I have to type in my new password blank, thinking that the BIOS will then assume that I want to have no password. I leave the fields empty and hit ENTER. It accepts this for some reason. I get a system halt for some reason and my laptop reboots. I am then prompted to type in my BIOS password as per usual, but it won't accept the password I usually use, which means there's an active password, but no longer the one that I've set prior to this. I try different passwords, I try just hitting ENTER, but no luck.I am locked out of my laptop and every Google result even remotely related to my issue suggests that I have to purchase a new motherboard for my x240. Really?I did not set a new password, I left the fields BLANK and hit ENTER. I have no idea what the password could be.I figured perhaps the BIOS password reverts to a prior password,... Read more

A:Lenovo x240 LOCKED OUT

Ok, this is embarassing but it might be something to learn from.I just remembered the very first BIOS password I set. I tried it, and it worked. Leaving the fields blank caused my BIOS to revert to the earliest password, which is the password I set prior to the one I am using now.Either that, or my supervisor password and my start-up password were different.Anyway, feel free to mark my thread as resolved or just delete it.

Hello, so I have a Lenovo think pad x240 as issued by my high school and I was using it last night and tried to power down by pressing the power button as I was in a rush but that did not work so I shut it down normally and now I am trying to turn it on and pressing the power button is not working, it definately has battery because I plugged it in overnight so I think the power button may be faulty, I have only had the laptop for 2 years. And yes I have tried the "secret code" trick but that does not work - presumably because my laptop also has an internal battery.I need help asap!!!!! Thanks in advance

Kindly request you to try with the below given troubleshooting steps.
Remove the battery and AC adapter
Remove the hard drive and wlan/wwcan cards
Remove both RAM modules
Re attach the AC adapter and boot
If you don't hear a series of loud beeps it probably means a hardware issue.

Please let me know whether the above steps helped you.

Hi, My lenovo X-240 has recently developed the following 2 issues since i upgraded the OS to windows 10 1) The display sometimes develops a vertical band with some visible lines and sometimes i only get some vertical bands in various colours without any display. This problem only started after installing Windows 10. Before that there was absolutely no issue. Please advise if this is a driver issue or how i can fix it. Today also it started with those bands and then the display has come normally and this behaviour is random. 2) The windows 10 keeps getting corrupted. I suddenly get the blue screen stating boot has failed and then i have to re-install windows, nothing else works. Many thanks for your help.

I recently purchased a used ThinkPad X240 and the original owner removed the HDD. I didn't believe it would be a problem since I have a 500GB SDD. He instructed me that he had installed 8GB of ram and had removed the original 4GB, again... didn't believe it would be a problem. Turned the system on with a Live USB of Linux and was not pleased to hear three beeps twice, followed by a single beep. I opened the unit and removed the 8GB stick. Received the same sounds... memory issue. I read the memory and it was 8GB DDR3 1600MHz 1.5V. I called the seller and said this is the wrong memory. These units require DDR3L (Low Voltage) 1.35V memory. He said he was unaware and it's all he has. I went and purchased Micron 8GB DDR3L 1.35V. Installed it and no more beeps. Great! Problem... no video either. Pressing power the keyboard lights up, fan spins and power button plus I on ThinkPad lights up... then keyboard lights go out, fan stops and that's all she wrote. About 1 minute and the green light on power and red light on I goes out. I tried completely discharing the unit, removed CMOS, Internal and External batteries and then held down power button for a minute or two. Same results. Tried an external Lenovo IPS monitor, and nothing... just black screen. Tried F1 repeatedly and nothing also... just black screen. Any ideas would be appreciated, thank you.

My Thinkpad X240 only comes with an external battery pack, no internal.  I usually power down my laptop at the end of the day.  The following day it won't power on.  I have to remove and re-insert back the battery pack before it turns on. If I power down and leave the laptop for 2hrs it will power up without me having to remove and re-insert back the battery pack.  But if I leave the laptop powered down for more than 3hrs I have to do the process to turn it back on. The battery charges normally, I usually get 4hrs out of the 6 cell pack. I ran the Lenovo Solution Center Comprehensive Tests, no errors found.  I also did the rest button but it won't power on without going thru the process of battery removal.

Hi, i'm experimenting problems with graphic card driver. When i install the driver (both the Lenovo suggested one and the Intel one), the screen become black and i can listen the sound of a disconnected device. Then, after every boot, i can't see anything on the display. I installed windows from zero and i haven't installed any other third party software, the only operation i've done after the installation is the Windows' update and Lenovo's drivers update. I tried also to install graphic card driver in safeboot mode, and the installation completes, thus i think the problem depends on conflicts between drivers. I also tried to install old Intel driver, but the problem persists. The first time it happend was in June, during a Windows' update. After that, the only "solution" i found to see the screen is to restore the Microsoft basic driver. I can't figure out if the problem depends on Windows or on Lenovo's drivers. Any solution?Thank you.

From what I read, I believe the P50 needs at least a power supply of 135W to charge (hence the stock charger is rated at 170W). I'm pretty sure the charger for both the X240 and S41 won't be able to supply the right amount of power to even charge the computer

Hi,The display on my 3+ year (4 month past warranty) old Lenovo X240 is starting to have problems (12.5" HD (1366 x 768) LED Backlit AntiGlare IPS Display, Intel HD Graphics 4400). It boots fine, but every once in a while I?m using the system, the image will start to fade to white (actually more like light gray), i.e., the current image becomes more and more latent, while the sound continues. I snapped three pictures while I was watching an episode of Bosch when this happened again this morning. The screen will eventually blank, and I?ve notice a while (somewhat jittering line) at the bottom of the screen while this is happening. (See images at bottom)If I close the lid and then open it, it will generally reset itself, but it?s been happening more frequently late, though there?s no pattern and I can?t replicate it at will (with an external monitor for example). Again, never have this problem during boot up.Three quick questions:1. Has anyone come across this? Any idea what this might be?2. If so, is this easily (ie cheaply) fixable? I like the laptop and would continue using it otherwise.3. If not, what would be an equivalent laptop in place you could recommend, Lenovo or otherwise. It looks like there?s a Lenovo X270 now ? would that be the one to consider? Any non-Lenovo laptops I should consider? FWIW, I?ve only had Thinkpads in the past (T23 if even earlier), I program and like the dedicated PgUp/PgDn,Home/End and arrow keys for editing purposes.Thank...
