I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Clearly I can hear the unit is running and has power going to it but no display at all. I can press the clock button and that will show but nothing else. Please help!!! Hey so I have had this computer for about 3 months. It has worked perfectly fine the whole time. I had a similar model, U530, before this that worked great (it broke because of an accident on my part) as well.  However, today I was watching the internet and it looked like the monitor quickly shut off for a second. I moved the screen forward slightly after it had come back on and the computer suddenly shut off.  It will not come back on. When it is only using the battery the power button will not light up. When I plug in the power adapter, the power button will light up and turn off every second or so, but nothing else happens, no fan, no hard drive spinning etc... Is there any other way to diagnose this? I tried the manual but there was no information on light patterns or any precautions if it will not turn on.  I've tried turning unplugging the battery and holding down the power button, but to no avail...

A:Lenovo Edge 15, suddenly powered off and not turning back on

I just ran into this exact issue on my U530 Touch. I was just sitting there using it, unplugged, but the battery not about to die, and it just turns off randomly. When I try to turn it on, the power button lights up for a split second in response to me touching it, but that's all that happens. I've tried both plugged in and not and neither cause much of a reaction. Any ideas?

I've spent hours researching this annoying feature. If I leave the machine in sleep/hibernate state for more than about an hour and then open the lid, only the Lenovo logo is shown. CAD combo restarts but again only the logo is shown. I need to press the power button once, wait a few seconds then press the power button again. Then the laptop starts normally. The attached file shows my power settings. I appreciate any assistance. I have this problem whether I have my Wacom Pro S tablet attached or not. The laptop is brand new.

Hi,i have Lenovo ThinkPad T470 (LENOVO 20HD0002MC) and recently has started a strange problem:While booting at first Lenovo logo shows up (where you can get to BIOS by Enter key) and right after screen goes black. When i power down laptop and boot again (sometime few times) intead of the black screen there is a prompt for Bios password, like it should have and booting continues to OS.Enter key for BIOS doesnt work while it slill get stuck on black screen just right before it loads the BIOS (after trying few times with power -off/on it gets to BIOS and i can boot normally)I have BIOS firmware updated to the latest version, so as well drivers for hardware.Im not aware of any change that could potentionally start this issue, maybe after updating bios to some newer version.Otherwise im using Windows 10 with latest updates, but i dont think this could cause the issue as its way before windows loading. Thanks for the help.

Hi please help i got my new Lenovo ideapad 110 2 weeks ago and its stuck on a black screen after showing the logo and preparing automatic repair even using the one key recovery i tried changing things in BIOS and didnt work

A:Lenovo Ideapad 110 With AMD Radeon R5 stuck on Black screen after showing logo and preparing repair

 Hi there, Eddie                       -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.
Automatic Repair usually kicks in if there's a problem loading up the files that's required to start Windows. If the repair was interrupted and the screen just goes into a black screen then there's most likely a hardware component that's malfunctioning.
To check, try to:

Boot into the BIOS by pressing the OneKey Recovery button

  - Link to picture
If successful, set the following settings in the BIOS:
Security Tab:
Secure Boot = Disabled
Boot Tab:
UEFI = Disabled or Legacy
Boot Mode = Legacy
Boot Priority = Legacy First
Exit Tab
OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS or Disabled
When done, press F10 (or Fn+10) to save and exit and try to boot from your Windows CD

If you're successful in booting from the Windows Disc, see Step 1 to Step 2 of this guideon how to proceed in fixing the issue.
If the problem remains, consider re-installing Windows by pressing the OneKey Recovery button and choose System Recovery

  - Link to picture
In an event that the recovery fails, I recommend you contact Lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service.
Update us how it goes.

Hey guys, I'm new a the HP forums so dont be to hard on me. I'm having problems with my Desktop PC Envy 700-203ed.  About a week ago I came home and I tried to turn my pc on, somehow it wasnt able to boot. (no bios nothing whatsoever) The fans did spin and the power led turned on but only for like a second and then it shut off and it tried to boot again. Again with the same results, fans spin for a second, power led turns on and boom shutdown and boot again, also no error beeps or anything like that.. I tried a different power outlet because their might be some problems with some of them (which is a different problem on its own). Somehow after I moved to the different source it was able to boot this time.. So I figured maybe it is a issue with this specific outlet or whatever. A couple days later when I was playing a game with a friend, and suddenly my pc switched off, it automatically tried to reboot after the sudden shutdown, but the same issue occured.. fans spin for a second and the power light came on and.. boom.. shuts off and tries again and again and again... So now my system was unable to boot. I've read on another post on this forum that i should try to boot without hdd and ram and other subhardware. This time I got a 5 beeps when it tried to boot.. I believe this means the bios was recoverd (rolled back the bios driver or something and please do correct me when im wrong about this) Next I reattached all the hardware... Read more

Greetings, Could not find product specs on your PC at the HP Support site. However, I did find some specs elsewhere. Did your PC ship with Win 8.1 64 bit OS? It appears to have been introduced by HP sometime in 2013 or early 2014. How much time elapsed between upgrading to Win 10 versus the onset of your problem? The intermittent problem you are experiencing could have any number of causes. Is the PC continuing to boot successfully or booting when it wants to since reattaching the hardware you disconnected? I am unable to determine this from your problem description. Exactly what hardware did you disconnect? You have to systematically troubleshoot each component and eliminate it as the cause. The first item to tackle is to run a check disk. Then run UEFI boot time hardware diagnostics. Then reinstall or update the graphics drivers. I can provide a general flow to use to troubleshoot the other components. Let me know if you are interested. Cheers!

Hello, My laptop is prone to overheating. I read online that this can be fixed by disassembling and cleaning the laptop. I did so, then carefully reassembled it, and now it makes a beeping sound when I power it on. It beeps 5 times in 3 sets. The beeps are in the pattern of 3 long beeps and 2 short beeps. After it does this 3 times, the sound goes away and leaves only a black screen, a constantly beeping Caps Lock (once every 4-5 seconds) and a constant light on the airplane mode button and the AC adapter LED appears to be normal.  I tried reseating the clock battery, Hard Drive and RAM card many times and also hard resetting. I also could not find any relevant posts related to my issue, and the few that dealt with the same beep code did not provide helpful solutions. I should also note my laptop is very old, but has been working fine (besides the overheating) up until I disassembled it. Please Help and Thanks!

My computer suddenly powered down (instantly and completely) and after a few presses of the power button (it would start to come on and then shut back off) and shutting the psu off and then back on I got it up and going again, Although the blue power light on the power button no longer glowed like it used to after this it kept on working for a month before it did it again tonight, only now I cant get it to come back on for more than about 20 seconds and most of the time less than that before it suddenly shuts down again.

I've swapped power buttons, re-seated all components and left everything unplugged from the PC, as well as checked the PSU and pulled out and moved around ram and vid cards with no luck. All things are pointing me to the mobo but I've never seen one fail like this one has so I thought someone else here might have an extra idea before I try to buy a new motherboard that runs all the old crap I've got in this PC.

Thanks for any help and ideas guys.

I have been using a Toshiba Satellite A505 here in Japan for the past 2 years and I have not encountered any major problem before. the OS is the packaged Windows Vista Home Premium.

In the past month however, I noticed that there have been increasing number of times when the system will slowdown to almost a halt. Some symptoms include choppy video with crackling audio, intermittently not responding web browsers, and unplayable games due to slowness that I can play normally before like CoD Blackops and MoH2010...

My annoyance turned to alarm this morning, when my system just suddenly powered down...so, I hope somebody can help...

I attach here a zip of files generated by MSInfo, Autoruns, and HiJackThis..I continuously run SpyBot S&D Resident and Avast. Some time ago, the PC gave the same problem. It wouldn't turn on. When I pressed the button, it turned on but showed nothing. I had replaced the CPU and that seemed to work. I didn't use the PC that much, rarely you know. But now, after some time, it gives the same problem.
It turns on, the front light is on, it makes the normal noise the pc makes when it's turned on , but if I try to shut it down by holding the power button it just doesn't work.
So again, I tried replacing the CPU and it worked again. I kept it all day working, just to be sure, and sometimes I would restart it and it would work again. No problems at all.
So I turned it off at night, and next morning it just would make the same problem. So I tried replacing the PSU. And it worked again.
Now while I had the PC with the new PSU, I tried to insert the old CPU, and again, it would turn on.
So I bought a new PSU and installed it. The same thing, tried restarting too, and it would work. But this morning the same problem happened.

I also tried another CPU today and yet no signs of working.
I don't know now what to think.

Hey everyone,

My laptop (i'm not sure the make or model matters) suddenly died, it was working fine one minute, left the room for around 30 seconds, came back and has seemingly has no power. The machine has been running purely off the power adapter because there is no battery. There's no lights on, indicating an electrical connection; it's completely dead. I used a phase tester to confirm a good power adapter, so the problem seems to be with the computer. I don't think the electrical input socket (?) is at fault cos it's not loose.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe it has something to do with that internal coin-shaped battery?

I'd really appreciate any help because i'm completely at a loss as to what i should do next...

A:No Bios showing. Montier Not Working. Motherboard Lights red?

Primary suspect is the power supply. The +5VSB should be green. You should either trade out that power supply with another for a test, or obtain a power supply tester. They cost $10 to $25 depending on where you get them. CompUSA has them for $12. Www.directron.com, www.tigerdirect.com and others have them for $15. www.newegg.com has several from $8.99 to $26.99.
But it would be more efficient to just buy and install a new one of at least 400 watts or more for $40 to $65. Antec and Sparkle are good brands. There are 87 brands available... just avoid cheap.
You can also obtain a PCI board post tester for $15 that will test all functions on your board and boot up.
Other power supply clues. From a cold boot, watching with a flashlight or bright light from the back, does the power supply fan turn 1/2 turn or less, then quit?
It could also be a CPU fan.
If you replace the power supply, replace the cpu fan as well, as they are only $12 to $18 for average brands.
These same symptoms will present from a bad memory module, bad video graphics card, bad power switch, bad cable, or a cable socket that has fallen loose from a board pin.
The problem is that troubleshooting takes a long time. But you will learn a lot. and will be even more adept at making repairs next time.

Do you have a desktop or another USB enclosure to put the hard drive from this one into? If not and if you have very little experience with such things, and if the data on them is that important, then you may want to take it to a local computer repair store(not Bestbuy).

But if this data is that important, why on earth did you not have multiple backups?

Hi guys,

Please keep in mind that sometimes this happens often and sometimes not at all. My neighbor (it's his computer) has noticed that when booting, in the mornings especially, it'll restart when the Windows logo shows up. Sometimes he'll see a blue screen with ati2dvag, sometimes it'll just reboot quickly (maybe he misses the screen in these cases).

We've tried replacing video card/ power supply/ memory to no avail. It seems like an operating system/driver issue since it happens when Windows is trying to load. Fixes online say to go to device manager -> system devices -> PCI to PCI root bridge or CPU to AGP and change the driver. I don't see anything like that on this particular motherboard.( Gigabyte P35-DS3L)

Any ideas?

I just finished a custom built system:

i3 3.0ghz
MSI p55m-gd41
nvidia 220 pcie
4gb kingston ddr3 (2 sticks in slots 1/3)

My problem is, once i boot from the dvd, it says "loading files" with the long progress bar across the bottom of the screen.

Once that finishes, it goes to blank screen. I let it sit for about 12 hours and the screen stays blank. I never see any Install GUI/Win Logo or anything. It never really gets to Step 1

I've used this DVD to install on a few diff. computers fine.

So far, I tried booting GParted from the CD to try to format it, but that won't boot for me. Keep getting "CD Not Found" error message. I think this may be because of a kernel issue with SATA.

Anyhow, I did get Ubuntu to boot and even install but I can't partition my disc (thought a 100gb partition would help install win7)

A:Install Goes to blank screen BEFORE logo shows

Try using free Partition Wizard CD which will autostart.

Let files load, select 1 for screen res, Wipe HD with zeroes, then try installing Win7 with GRUB (which interferes) gone. Use Custom install>Drive tools to create New, format first.

This laptop will only charge if Windows is Shut Down and the cord is connected. We have had sporadic success disabling and/or uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery from the Device Manager, but this only works for a short time, and then the issue returns.  We have updated BIOS Update for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows 8 (64-bit), Windows 8.1 (64-bit), Windows 10 (64-bit) - Notebook Version: 9ECN43WW(V3.03) from here:http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Lenovo-Y-Series-laptops/Y50-70-Noteboo...We also tried installing Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface (ACPI) Driver for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit) ..., but it does not seem to do anything. We have tried another power supply that is known to be working, and it has the same result. Operating System is Windows 10 (64-bit)

As the topic says, the laptop would only charge if it's powered off and when it's powered on, it cannot charge. Can anyone help me with this?

My Lenovo Y50 laptop (I don?t remember the year. Around 2015 or so with GTX 860m graphics card) won?t turn on the screen when started up. It doesn?t even show the Lenovo logo, and when I connect a USB mouse, the mouse flashes its red light for a split second and dies as well. The fan still runs, the red keyboard background lights are still on and could still be turned on or off, but the numpad and capslock lights are unresponsive. I have tried connecting to a TV with HDMI cable (nothing) and replacing the boot drive with another older one (same problems as before). Is there something else I can do? PS: Recently my house had a series of power outtages and the laptop was abruptly shut off a few times (its battery is dead), so the issues came immediately after the last power outtage.
