I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What happens when you try? Do you get an error? Do other USB devices connect to your computer okay? Do you see your 950 in File Explorer as a removable drive?

Last week i decided to move my computers (2). Internet was working fine before i did this. After I moved them I havent been able to connect except for a usb cable. Both computers are using the Windows Vista home premium 32 bit. Before all of this happened I had 2 computers and an Xbox 360 all connected. I have tried everything I can think of and none of it worked. I have charter cable internet and they were able to get on the internet fine using the ethernet cable. when i go to ipconfig/all it gives me a 169.254.216.245 IP address. I have read several places where people have been having problems with this but all the suggestions for them nothing worked for me! Please help

A:Cannot connect to internet using Ethernet Cable but can connect with USB cable

Do you connect via a modem or a router. Did you try the release/renew options when you were in ipconfig ?
If you use a router check it to see if it's still giving out IP's automatically.

A:Not able to connect PC to TV through VGA to S-video Cable in Windows 7

jackyshah, welcome to the Seven Forums.

This has nothing to do with Windows 7 and everything to do with whether the hardware in question (the VGA port on the laptop) supports what you are trying to do. Unfortunately there are very few video cards short of some of the older ATI All-In-Wonder types (video card with TV tuner built in) that support s-video/TV out from the VGA port.

If your TV doesn't have a VGA or HDMI port on it the only way I know of is to use something like this,

Buy the Kworld PlusTV Pc To TV at TigerDirect.ca

I have a small problem with Windows XP Pro. I need to know why can't it detect my LAN/Ethernet cable, anymore? Would any of you please tell me how to make it instantly connect to the internet without me having to type in my IP address or static-address & ect. in the "Network Connections" section of my WinXP Control Panel? Background story:Recently, I got a used-laptop (Dell Inspiron 9100), which was pre-installed with Windows XP. When I plugged my ethernet cord to the back of the computer for the 1st time, it would immediately detected the internet/got connected to the internet right away. Special Note: Of course, it was originally set-up to detect the ethernet (LAN line) cord, whenever someone connected the LAN-line/Ethernet cord to the back of the computer. It detected all of the drivers, which are installed on the computer, until re-installed Windows on it.Ever since I re-installed Windows XP (SP3) on that computer, it won't connect to the internet via Mozilla or whatever else I use as a browser. It won't let me access the internet, even with the ethernet card/cable (cord) connected to it.My internet-connection was lost as soon as I re-installed Windows XP. Please tell me how to make my Laptop computer instantly detect the ethernet card or drivers like it did before I wiped it's memory & re-installed XP on it.Thanks in advance for your time & help.

The other laptop was an acer and was also on Windows vista. Both were able to connect to the internet with my cable modem. For some reason this desktop computer wont connect to the internet or will say "limited or no connectivity" and when it says that it will not connect or it will connect and work fine. I dont understand whats going on. Could it be that one of the wires coming from my modem is messed up (its a little torn) or is it the modem or the actual computer settings and what not. I really need some specific directions as to how to fix this seeing as I go to school online and I start again Monday. Thanks so much!

I'd supply an image of the matter, but unfortunately my account needs verified first(?) - on my desktop network, it states I'm connected to my Windows Phone but with 'No internet access'.

I recently used a program Autoruns,, and deleted some startup things I shouldn't have.. Since then I cant connect to internet, the troubleshooter for wireless adapter says the Windows wireless service is not running on this computer (WLAN Autoconfig service) and fails to start the service.
I notice on windows task manager there are only about 13 Processes running and there are usually about 20, and on Services there are about 40 running and about 100 or more stopped services. Thanks for the help

Also on startup now I have a pop up on bottom saying, Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. This problem prevents standard users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond. And the startup and logon time is really long now

I have two Apple laptops running well on an Airport Extreme wireless network. I am trying to connect a Dell Windows XP Service Pack 3 to the Airport via a USB to Ethernet LAN cable directly to the Airport for internet access. The Times Warner cable guy hooked it up and it accessed the internet just fine. I have since reformatted and reloaded Windows. I have not changed any of the cable connections. I have tried the Windows Network Wizard and the Airport Utility (which cannot detect the Airport). Windows says I have a "LAN or High-Speed Internet 1394 Connection" connected. However, Windows cannot find any internet access. The cable guy had it hooked up and on the internet in just a couple of minutes. Before I reformatted I noticed another connected network, not the 1394. Please help me get the Dell on the Airport via USB to Ethernet LAN cable for internet access. Thanks in advance for your help.

A:Connect Windows PC to Airport Extreme via Ethernet cable

Install the chipset drivers from your Drivers/Resource CD or, better, from Dell's web site. Use your Service Tag for easier searching. Then check in Device Manager to see if there are still more missing drivers.

EDIT: You probably need the driver for the USB ethernet adapter also.

Hi,

Ever since the latest WP update (currently on WP8.1 Update, firmware 3051.50009.1424.0003) my Windows 8.1 PC doesn't detect my Lumia. I get "The latest device malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it. There is also Unknown USB device (Device descriptor request failed) listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers in Device manager. Nothing under Portable devices section.

What I have tried:
- replacing usb cable (using original one) -> no luck
- soft reset phone -> no luck
- turning the phone off and plug it in -> no go
- manually uninstalling the device from device manager, restarting the PC and try again -> nope
- plugged brother's lumia 930 -> works like a charm

I'm slowly losing my mind, I have no idea what else can I try.

Any help is appreciated.

Edit. Ok so I've got access to laptop, plugging my phone there and the same problem happens at first - the device can't be recognized but a few moments later somehow it gets recognized and connected. The problem seems to be on my PC, can anyone help me out completely removing all the Phone drivers (including registry entries) so I can install them fresh?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum sukle.

Can't really help with your problem but a few ideas while you wait for one of the experts to come along and help.

Is your phone completely up to date ? Do you have the 8.1 update on your phone ?

I only have the Lumia 520, I have no problems with this on my 8.1 Update 1 Asus Notebook, I've just plugged it in so of course it's charging, usually charge through the mains adapter so very rarely plug it into the computer as everything can be done from the phone.

Sorry I can't help but I'm sure someone will be along soon to help you out.

Sorry, I'm very new to the windows platform programs. I have worked on Mac all my life even through highschool so Im rather lost on this issue. I have tried all the troubleshooting application available through this computer program and have even attemted
to restore previous setting in order to hopefully correct the issue with no progress. We have made sure all permissions where in order as well as the different connections with router and all external devices, (all wile other computer and internet applications
are running perfectly on other devices).
I have just figured out that we can connect this device to the internet using the eithernet cable. If anyone could offer some insight into this issue it would be more than appreciated. We have to implement Windows programs for work related
applications such as data transfer and calibration testing so this computer is extremely valuble to the business. Again, any insight into the cause or information period would be highly appreciated.

I'm a new Plusnet customer and I cannot connect to the internet using wifi I just get a page saying the broadband is down. So I tried using an ethernet cable and after manually setting this up I can use the internet. I accidentally disconnected the cable yesterday but the internet didn't fault, it's now working wirelessly. I can connect to the wifi using my mobile and iPad but I cannot connect to the internet. A new router has been sent and the problem still persists, a bt engineer has also visited but cannot find a solution.

Can anybody please help me?

A:I can't connect to wifi but connect with an Ethernet cable works, even when it isn't plugged in

It gets confusing as to which device is being used so as a guideline
disable one or the other (wifi vs wired) and don't allow both to be active at the same time. Technically, which ever device gets an IP address from your router will become the gateway to your ISP - - ignoring the connectivity of the second device to access your router.

With a laptop, we just toggle the keyboard to enable/disable wifi and the wired is easy - - just pull the cable out.

create a desktop shortcut to \windows\system32\devmgmt.msc
to control the devices (needs admin access)
expand [+] network adapters and you'll see the list
mine are

Dell Wireless 1502 ....
Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
Just right-click->disable and you can always right-click->enable

The png posted shows both are enabled and the wired has the gateway.
If the cable is disconnected, this is quite impossible.

SO, first control which device is to be used and then make the connection.

Clueless one here.

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 4000 Laptop through an old workplace several years ago and want to connect it to the internet using a 3COM FE575C-3COM 10/100 PCMCIA card with a dongle. The laptop is still set up to connect through a VPN that no longer exits (old workplace went under). and I'm not sure if that's hindering things. That'd be great to erase all settings for that if someone wanted to walk me through it, but that's not the main reason I need help. I am the "admin" and have the "admin" password on the laptop.

First off, the laptop can see the hardware (ethernet card) when I insert it, but the connection is NOT showing up on my Netgear router that is connected to my Comcast Cable Modem (which is currently working on my MAC and how I'm typing here). When I go to set up internet connection on my laptop, I'm pretty clueless as to what to do (obviously not dial-up). I've created about 2 new VPN's, but nothing works. I don't have wireless, but I did have a wireless card that was able to get me onto the internet a few times (presumably mooching bandwidth which I don't want to do), so I know it can work or at least should work with a correct card set-up. I don't know if the hardware I bought is bad, the internet connection is just not set up correctly and/or why my router is not even seeing my second computer.

HELP!

Hi All,
I have Laptop Toshiba Satellite L775, windows 7. I used cable modem Motorola SURFboard SBG6580 and it was working fine. Then I changed my ISP to Century Link and used their DSL modem and still everything worked just fine. Now I moved to another city and used same cable modem (SBG6580) and connected my business PC thru ethernet and it is working fine. The problem is with my laptop which I tried to connect wirelessly but coudn't so I tried to connect it thru ethernet but it does not even recognizes it. Funny thing is my hard wired computer has picked up same network name thru modem and is working fine both thru ethernet and wifi (this computer I am using first time with this modem).
My laptop find available networks and when I select my network with password, some time it says connected with limited access and some time "windows was unable to connect" message. I tried most of the solutions by calling Suddenlink and Motorola but no luck. I am wordering if it has to do anything with centurylink's DSL modem being used on this laptop before and somehow blocking cable modem?
Any help?

As the Windows 10 Mobile release inches closer and closer, Microsoft has now updated its software update page for Windows Phone to include Windows 10.

The page, which typically helped Lumia users to know the status of their updates (and previously whether it was in testing, waiting for dispatch etc) has now been updated to include instructions for Lumia devices running Windows 10 Mobile.

In addition to that, Microsoft?s Windows Phone help page is now full of FAQs about Windows 10 (we?re going with Microsoft?s branding here from now on) for the casual user.

As the roll out ? rumoured to be starting next week and currently being shipped out to carriers for staging ? inches ever closer, Windows Phone users should be excited about the new functionality enabled by Microsoft.

To reiterate, the first few devices that Microsoft has confirmed will get Windows 10 are the Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 635 (1 GB RAM), Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, and Lumia 930.

well i've had cable for only a few days now and already it's screwed up and won't work. since tuesday it's worked great but last night outta no where I lost all connection. where i'm unable to get on AIM now and look up sites on internet explorer. now I have a little icon on the bottom of the screen that's a local area connection for status says limited or no connectivity. I clicked on that for activity for send is at the moment 838 packets and for received none. my cable modem is a Linksys and model BEFCMU10. weird worked just great then outta no where lost all connection.

A:can't connect to cable

If you haven't done so already, power cycle the modem, and restart your computer.

I think your modem has the following LEDs. Which ones are solid on and which ones are blinking?

- Power
- Internet Cable
- Internet Activity
- Ethernet
- USB

If the Internet Cable LED is not on, check with your ISP to see what they think is the status of your connection.

We're running an XP that had the Dialer virus. We reformatted and reinstalled XP, but we're having problems connecting. Comcast ran us thru up to CMD in RUN. The DOS Command has C:\Documents and Settings\Luke>
The Comcast Support was trying to get the IP address with IPCONFIG /ALL but with the line already in, we we'ren't getting an IP Address.
Should I just type in cls and when the board is clear, type in IPCONFIG /ALL?

Any info or suggestions are most welcome and greatly appreciated.

A:Cat 5 cable won`t connect to the net.

it's unlikely to be the cables, but the NIC card needs to be configured.

I want to connect my satellite receiver to my modem through Ethernet cables.

First connect the modem to Ethernet outlet using standard small Ethernet cable.

connect Ethernet outlet A to outlet B using Ethernet cable inside the wall.

connect outlet B to the receiver using standard small Ethernet cable.

I want to know how I make the connection in outlet A and outlet B to make this work.

A:how to connect the cable

If you are talking about how to attach the in-wall cable to the backs of the wall jacks ...

Depending on the maximum data you ever plan to run through that connection, you will need solid conductor CAT5, CAT5e, or CAT6 cable and suitably rated RJ45 wall jacks.

Most RJ45 wall jacks require a punch-down tool to attach the 8 individual wires to the back of the jack. Some jacks come with a simple, all plastic, tool that is OK for small jobs. Many jacks include color coded labels for the punch down terminals where the colors match the individual wires. The labels will show an EIA 568A and/or 568B configuration. It does not matter which configuration you use as long as you use the same configuration at each end.

I have a HP Pavilion dv-6 with Windows 7 64bit on it. The internet connection suddenly stopped working. Meaning the previous night it worked fine, on the next morning it's just not working.

Windows doesn't even notice if the cable is plugged in. The ethernet plug in the laptop used to flash orange while using the internet. Now nothing.
Troubleshooting the network adapter wrote that that cable must be broken. But it's the same cable I'm using now plugged into an old computer with XP.

I tried to install Connectify Lite on the night it still worked, but I uninstalled it immediately and the connection was still on.

I tried System Restore to revert the changes (Connectify install and a Windows update) that might have caused this.
I also installed a new driver for my network adapter (Realtek PCIe GBE family controller) from the Realtek website. According to Device Manager the Network adapter works fine.

I just wanna confirm, is that true to use cross over UTP cable to connect switch to hub?

A:UTP cable to connect switch to hub

Yes, unless the hub and/or switch have "MDI-X" ports. In which case the device is doing the crossover for you.

I have 2 laptops. One with XP and one with Vista. The XP machine has an external Netgear G-card, and connects very well to the router (D'Link 524 HW G) AND the internet.
The Vista machine connects well to the router but there are some problems regarding the internet. Connection manager says I am connected both local and internet, but the net, when it works, is just awfully slow.

My "working" laptop is a Dell x300 with XP
My "not working" laptop is a Thinkpad x300 (yes x300 both) running Vista Pro.

I've been searching the net for solution, but nothing has worked yet.

Any surgestion will be appreciated. I'm going bald!
