Computer sounds - Distored and Electronic

Q: Computer sounds - Distored and Electronic

I have been currently been having a problem with my computer sounds. This is hard for me to explain but I will try my best to explain it.

During the start of of the computer, after I enter in my password to my account, you would usually hear the Windows start up music. Well I hear it and it sounds very distored. Also I am an average user of Pandora radio and if during times of listening to a station the sounds get electronic sounding if I open another page on a different tab or open a program and it hurts my poor ears.

I have tried to uninstall my sound driver and also have tried updating it with no luck. Any and all help would be great. I am providing both my specs and the hijackthis info.

Preferred Solution: Computer sounds - Distored and Electronic

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Computer sounds - Distored and Electronic

Forgot to add that the sound card is a Realtek High Definition Audio built into the motherboard. This is the information provided by the Realtek HD Audio Manager Information panel:

Audio Driver Version:
DirectX Version: DirectX 11.0
Audio Controller: HD Audio
Audio Codec: ALC888S

Just bought this HP notebook.  Seems very good, except for the audio.  When music is playing, it appears to automatically cut the volume when the level gets high, then it slowly increases.  This gives music an annoying loud-soft-loud-soft feel that sounds awful.  I don't want it normalized, just played straight. This occurs both for online music and for local music.   However, it only happens with the internal speakers.  With an external speaker plugged in, no distortion. I am trying to turn this off, if at all possible.  My searching shows that some drivers have "loudness equalization" for audio effects;  However, when I go to Playback Devices > Properties, the Enhancements tab does not have any options at all.  Any ideas?  The laptop will be used for frequent music playing, so this is a deal breaker if it can't be modified.

The cd is in great condiction so should I cleen my laptop disk place and then if that, how?

A:Distored i'm an american cd

Mmm - could do with a bit more explanation here. Do you mean the sound is "distorted" and not "distored" (no such word)?
if you meant to type "distorted", try cleaning the CD with purpose-made CD cleaner.
You can also buy a special CD that will clean the CD drive. Most good audio centres or computer stores will have them.
They have little bristles attached to them which are designed to clean dirt from the laser lens, but don't get carried away - only use it a couple of times a year as over-use can do more harm than good.

If other CDs play okay and only that one is distorted, then despite what you say it must be a bad CD.

My son and husband uploaded a Disney mp3 player to download songs from our pc which then changed the volume settings. Every sound the pc makes now echos. The speakers, the connections and sound card are fine. I have tested all of them. Any suggestions?

A:Distored Sound

Have you tried clicking on the Speaker icon in the system tray? An amplify or boost mode may have been turned on in here. Go through the Advanced Properties and ensure everything is set correctly.

Hi I am new here.

I am running Win XP Home SP2 and recently my computer has been making random background noises. Its like an IE7 mouse click. Sometimes it plays ads in the background and sometimes for long periods of time. I have had no other programs open that have advertisements built into at the time. I have AVG Free and it has decteted several trojans. So I stumped upto this point.

here is my HJT Log.

Mind you I did not have IE7 running at the time but HJT picked it up. Not sure... Anyways

I have Windows XP/Version 2002/Service Pack 3 on my Dell laptop. In early December 2015, I found an old, unopened, uninstalled, unregistered copy of CA Internet Security Suite 2009. I thought I would install it and see if it would automatically upgrade to the current protection level of 2015/2016 for possibly a year and then I would have to pay to continue getting upgrades. Once I installed it, it seemed to slow my laptop down quite a bit. It seemed like every web page I visited, I'd have to manually add it to the firewall to allow access to the site. I started to search for another product and saw that Vipre Internet Security Suite 2016 got good reviews and had a 30 day trial period. I uninstalled the CA product and installed Vipre. This didn't seem to help speed anything up (not that I really thought it would). The most annoying problem I have, and it seemed to start when I installed the CA suite, is that web page images seem to load OK for the first few pages I visit. Then after a few pages, images load half way and the bottom half of the image loads grainy and/or distorted ("piecemeal"). I'm using Chrome version 48.0.2564.103. It happens in FireFox (43.0.1) as well, but doesn't seem to happen as often. I frequently clear the cache and history in both browsers and this doesn?t help. Since the browsers are up-to-date, I'm assuming the problem is with XP. I suppose it could be the graphics card, but I thought I would see dead pixels on the screen, whi... Read more

Hello, I have been searching high and low for a way to resolve this. I'm hoping someone here can help me. I'm having a problem in Windows 7 (64 bit) where a lot of my prompt/dialog boxes are blank and I can't see the text. This mainly happens on prompt windows, like if I am trying to update or install a program. I am on a Dell XPS 9100, with an Intel Core i7 2.8 GHz processor. It has 3GB of Ram and a 500GB hard drive. If that helps at all.

Can anyone help me fix this error? I've run all kinds of virus/spyware/malware scans, but they don't come up with anything. I've attached some screenshots

Thanks in advance!

Nothing in the screenshots unfortunately.

Greetings, i digged out an old HP t3545.uk desktop computer, install fresh version of windows XP SP3 on it, and i cant figure out its sound problem. It also has ATI card in it.

The thing is that by default in bios on board audio is set to auto, and once you boot up into windows, there is no Realtek HD audio device in manage screen as if it does not exist at all.

So i changed the bios setting to onboard audio device enabled, and i appeared in the system. Ive installed latest audio driver from Realtek, i got sound but its heavely distorted. I tried to install audio driver provided by HP, but its extremely outdated and cant be installed to SP3.

Ive tried everything, reainstalling drivers, disabling ati HDMI audio, switching bios parameters to auto, enabled, disabled, nothing helps.

Does this mean that this PC actually has a dead built in audio, or is there something im missing?

If all the other icons are fine, then it's probably just a low-res/poor quality icon that Compaq have used.

A:Solved: computer beeping sounds when i turn on computer

There are three possibilities here, all related to your memory.

1) You have forgotten to fit your memory back in.
2) Your memory isn't properly seated in its slot(s)
3) You have killed your memory because of not following antistatic procedures.

I'm suspecting it is either 2 or 3.

I have a form which opened up OK in adobe acrobat but I am unsure how to type on the form (as it has a hand tool on it) and also how to send it back to the originator. Can anyone help me please?

A:How to use pdf/electronic forms??

Hi dmcd

If the .pdf form has form fields like a tax return, just fill in the blanks, hitting the Tab key should move you from field to field and highlight the field it is in.

Otherwise, you need to have the full blown version of Adobe Acrobat to be able to edit .pdf files. Adobe Acrobat Reader only allows you to view, print and save the .pdf file. The hand tool will allow you to select and copy text from the .pdf document if the author has not restricted this action in the security settings.

If you DO have the full version of Adobe Acrobat, select the Free Text Tool, draw a box or field and type in what you need. Unfortunately, .pdf files are not like word processing, but you can create the file first in Word and then convert it to a .pdf file with the full version of Adobe Acrobat.

If the .pdf file does not have form fields for you to fill out electronically and the sender expects it back via email, they need to send you a document with form fields in it. Otherwise, they should expect it back by snail mail since you will need to print it out and fill it out by hand.

To send it by email, start an email and click the attach button, browse to the location of the file and click on it to attach it to the message.

www.adobe.com also has a service where you can convert .pdf files on the web, I believe you can convert up to five files for free and after that you have to pay for the service.

Let us know if this answered your question or if you need further assistance.

I in NZ cant give you my opinion on the American market, but it depends on your needs of a TV. If your going home theatre, Id go flat panel wide screen 100Hz type screen. Philips and Panasonic are the best for that hre.. Sony is not far behind. The brand difference is so little these days. Get a demo at your local store. Youll see something youll like

I believe that you need to have a suitable analog audio patch cable from the drum set's line outputs to the audio line inputs on the computer in order to record the drums.

Start Menu/Control Panel.

In Control Panel click Sound and Audio. (I *think* this is how it is listed in XP)

Sounds tab.

Look at what is listed for Sound Scheme. If it is set for No Sounds click the drop down arrow and choose Windows Default.

Check the box next to Play Windows Startup Sound if that is available to you.

I have just set up a new computer. (Yes I finally got it)The specs are
Pentium 4 2.53GHz
512 MB DDRam
80 GB HD
Windows XP, etc. etc.

The thing I notice is that unlike my other computers, it groans and grinds a bit, whenever it is active and even when it is not active it makes a few little grinds. This is not the sound of the fan. It is like a rolling, grinding sound. I am sure I am not the first to experience this. What is it Is it normal and is there anything I can do to stop it?

I might add that if I have to send this back I shall go bananas. It took me 14 hours yesterday to set it up, update 38 critical updates, 2 drivers, 8 other updates, put my own proggies on it and generally change settings and stuff. I don't want to go through that again in a hurry.

A:Computer sounds

could be the floppy or more likely the CD/DVD/burner. I've noticed that the higher speed ones tend to make alot of noise. Also, your cache and swap file could be constantly being accessed and you're hearing the hard drive working...you must have a pretty quiet system to hear that.

I live in Azerbaijan, Baku, so I took my laptop into BESTCOMP GROUP - local service partner of HP (I have warranty for 1 year), but they say it is normal - some HDDs make noise like this and they will not change Hard Disk in the terms of warranty. I am not quiete sure about it. I would like to know, whether BESTCOMP GROUP telling the truth OR there should not be any '"electric noise" from HDD and they have to change HDD following the warrantyI should tell that there is no performance problem on my laptop but according this noise, but this noise extremely annoys me when Im working on something in my computer.  P.S I would like strongly emphasize that this noise is not the noise of turning hard disk. It is separate from that noise. Kind Regards Nail Mustafazade

As many here already know, I work for a retail chain store in the IS department. On about 25% of our transactions we capture electronic signatures using a device that stores these as bitmap images. The signatures are then transmitted to our settlement provider. Part of the creation of that transmission file is a conversion of the data to EBCDIC. I also have a utility program that dumps this settlement file into an ASCII format. The electronic signature data is stored as hex values in this data. Last week we were attempting to reconstruct the bitmap image from this data. In my ignorance, I thought that if we simply saved the data into a file, removing all the newline characters and extra data required to be in the settlement record, then gave it a .bmp extension that we would be able to open this as an image. What am I missing? Is there any way to reconstruct the image file from this data?

A:Electronic Signature Capture

Uuencode is a similar type of thing.
The problems are that EBCEDIC is 8 bits per byte. Ascii only uses 7 bits.
The EBCEDIC can possibly be decoded in the way you suggest, but the Ascii almost certainly requires extra processing. You need to find out how the original encoding is done.

Hello all you techies!
I have a simple question, I'm taking the beginning courses of electronics for college and I was wondering if any of you can suggest a good electronics workbench program that will be usuful. Thanks for any suggestions!

A:recommend a electronic workbench!

Electronics Workbench from MultiSim is a pretty comprehensive one, but be prepared for a learning curve. It takes a while to learn to use it. The catch-22 is that you have to know something about electronics to use it, so expect to improve on it as you progress in your studies. At first you'll do a lot of head scratching, but I'm guessing just about any of them are going to be like that. Let's face it, electronics is a fairly complicated field and not easy to grasp for most people. If you have an accessible instructor, he may be familiar with it and be able to help you along. Many schools teaching electronics have a program like this available somewhere in their lab(s), so look around for it. It will be frustrating to try to dive into it by yourself, sight unseen, but it is a fascinating area of study. I got mine for about $95 for the student version. That will give you all you need and then some. Good luck in your studies. Remember, it's a lot like computer troubleshooting: If you hit a wall, train yourself to calm down, step back, and look again. Patience and calm is where it's at. Again, good luck.

Howdy everyone, Detailed description coming so get comfortable please.

As a writer, I visit a variety of places to gather information and do research. Some of these places are not the best to visit and I understand that. I have paid for antivirus from Trend and up to this point I have been fine. I am proficient in computers, but there are items that are over my head. Such is my case today and why I am here. I found Bleeping Computer after I run Hijack This via Trend.

I went through the Preparation guide, and did all that. I think I did everything correct. If not please tell me. I did have a lock up while working with the gmer zip file. I run Professional XP, NTSF, and the unzipper is internal so I did not get to the "uncheck items" before it did a scan. Once I did get to that page, and unchecked all that needed to be unchecked, I redid the scan and that log follows.

My specific problem began last Friday while I was working doing some research about the Furry culture, Trend jumped up unexpectadly. I stopped my research and backed away and did a scan. Trend found nothing. Since then, Trend has been jumping up on a variety of websites that it did not previously. I checked my settings, all is fine there. Trend found malware yesterday, from a program download that I paid for previously. The program is knowm far and wide as Evrsoft First Page 2006. That is the program I use to build my websites.
