Preferred Solution: Solved: Built-in Camera won't work.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If you can see an error for "imaging device" in Device Manager, try re-installing the driver from the laptop maker's website.

If there is no error in Device Manager, and your webcam is not listed there, that's usually a sign that the webcam itself is faulty so Windows cannot detect it - effectively it doesn't exist any more.

A easy remedy is to buy an external webcam (Logitech, Microsoft or Creative). don't buy a cheap brand with an obscure name as it will not last long.

Well, as you can tell by the subject my built in camera is not working. If you're gonna recommend I go to devices managers and go to imaging devices no it's not there. If you're gonna recommend me a solution please make it as simple as possible by the way it used to work but I have no idea why it stopped working cause like I stopped using it along time ago.

I'm been trying to make skype video calls but it says my camera is not connected. Every time I open the software ArcSoft Webcam Campanion 2 to see if my camera is connected. It says "A webcam was not found or is not working properly. Please click Connect button and try again." When I click on the Connect button and it says "Camera not found. The camera is either being used by another application or is not connected. Make sure the cam is connected and working properly." I tried to go into setup or BIOS to enable the camera but the camera is not even listed on the components. Please I would appreciate your help. Thanks

Purchased this refurbished All-in-One yesterday and am doing my initial set up.   The built in Intel RealSense Camera does not work.  First noticed this when I tried the MS Camera App and got back the error message "We can't find your camera.  Check to be sure it's connected and installed properly, that it isn''t being blocked by antivirus software, and that your camera drivers are up to date.  If you need it, here is the error code:  0xA00F4244(oxC00D36D5). So I have been troubleshooting.  The Anti-Virus is the McAfee that came pre-installed.  I perused the firewall section of its configuration panel and saw nothing to suggest McAfee was blocking the camera. Then I went online to HP support.   Note: The troubleshooting section for built-in all-in-one cameras is non-existent.  The troubleshooting info for external cameras was not helpful.  But I did find advice at HP to go into my device manager and reinstall or update the camera drivers.   So, I went into the Windows Defice Manager.   There is no camera driver listed either under Imaging Devices or Sound, Video, Game Controllers, the two places suggested to look.  In fact, the only related driver I can find is under System Devices there is an "Intel RealSense Camera Virtual Bus Enumerator".  That probably isn't it, but I updated driver anyway and was told by system I already had the current driver (for whatever that ... Checked the devise driver
Checked settings
Downloaded driver for EasyCam from site for my laptop
Added an extra key to the register EnableFrameServerMode =0x0

Nothing works.

But starting Lenovo settings, it asked me to update it. Twice I've done that and it asks again to download updates.

What gives?

The problem happens in both windows store apps and .exe programs. Camera doesn't work in Chrome, Edge,Skype(both store and .exe). I recently gave my laptop in for servicing at an authorized service center(Just a speaker issue). Could it be that they could have unplugged the camera cable? I also saw a post referring to the same laptop but in that post only store apps had this problem. Already tried reinstalling driver, enabling permissions etc. If I remember correctly this problem started after the fall creators update. When the camera is used the white led does blink, even though an image doesn't show. Please help me with this.

(Edit - Subject should read 'Microsoft Camera Wizard does not work anymore with Canon digital camera')

I have a Canon SD 700 IS digital camera bought about 15 months ago. Until recently, I could connect it to the USB port (same one each time and that port is not used for anything else) of my Windows XP PC (1 year old, bought new) and the Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard would appear allowing me to use that software to transfer my digital pictures to my PC. Now, that does not work. I tried reinstalling the Canon EOS utility that came on a CD with my camera - no success in getting pictures transferred with that. The only way I can get the pictures to transfer, is to open Windows Explorer, the camera shows up under My Computer, but if I right click on Get pictures highlighting the camera listing, after multiple trys and 30 minutes, I get the few dozen pictures to transfer.

Anyone know what to try? I am suspecting it has to do with a recent overhall of my PC anti-spyware and security software (details below) as was using Lavasoft and Spybot before and found them becoming less effective. My computer is anti-malware free as far as I know from anti-spyware scans with multiple products (at least twice weekly) and real-time protection and anti-virus scans a little less frequently which Zone Alarm has never from day one found any viruses.

The computer is recognizing the camera in the USB port (it is enabled) and camera powered on and has no issues when taking pictures.... Read more

I built a computer and then went to download windows 7 and it downloads it,restarts then acts like it wasnt downloaded. what do i do?
i was downloading windows 7 and it came up asked me what HDD to download on it i told it which one then it downloaded windows 7. then it restarts and comes back up and wants me to select a HDD to download windows 7 on so i thought mabe it just derped the first time and so i
redownloaded it . I go to redownload it and it's already taken space for the old windows 7 meaning it obviously did something and i popes up with a msg telling me that there is already a version of windows installed on that HDD and if i continue it will take the old windows and put it in a file call windows.old . so i continued and i did this several times changing some settings in the bios every time hoping something would work. last night my uncle said that after i download it try switching my boot order so that my HDD with windows on it is first in stead of the optical drive with windows 7 boot disk. and that mabe it did download but it was kept going strait to the windows 7 disk instead of checking the HDD. so i tried and it but it did the same thing.

My new netbook has a built in camera that I'd like to use - however, there doesn't appear to be any on-board software to do so.

When the netbook was new the camera would show up in "My Computer" but now it doesn't - which I believe was caused by my disabling a number of services. The only other cause I can think of would be the removal of bloatware, but I tried to be very careful when doing this by researching everything first.

Anyway, the OEM tech support was no help at all (send it in? sure thing - NOT!). Device Manager shows the camera as functioning properly. Can I simply install an app to use it?

If so, can anyone recommend a good piece of freeware so I can use the camera's basic functions (taking pictures and video)?

Thanks Much

Hi,

I've a brand new Satellite P50-B-11V. After one day I detected a problem with the built camera and microphone. The camera works fine and the microphone too if the camera is not connected. Connecting the camera boost the microphone to maximum creating a terrible noise...So it's impossible to use camera and microphone together. Reducing the microphone boost to 0% does not solve the problem.

Is this an hardware problem? Does someone have this problem too? Drivers problem?

This is very annoying and disappointing, a day after the purchase this happens! This is not acceptable even more in a laptop which is not cheap.

Thanks

Hello Masters. I already upgraded my laptop so I could play Counter Strike: Source just like what you have told me on my previous post hehe

Now, I noticed that this laptop has a built-in camera. However, I checked add new scanner or camera device and was not able to locate this webcam. I checked Device Manager and seen something under 'Imaging Device' which is an HP Truevision HD. I was wondering if this is the build-in camera already? If it is, then how could I make it work? Do I need to install another program? I was trying to ask Google to no avail, unless I'm just quite noob with wholesome search techniques. Pardon me.

Or if it is not the HP Truevision, how could I know that this thing is still working or a display and needed to be ignored already? Moreover, I would like to thank you all in advance for checking this post and letting me know what to do. Sorry for this thing, just feeding my curiosity //humbly bows//

However swithing from the Logitec to Integrated yields the brown camera with the diagonal line across it.

I've recently been having some troubles with my built-in web cam. I have a Gateway LT series 1005u netbook with windows XP. When I first got it, the webcam worked just fine. I don't know what happened, but I didn't use it for a while and when I started using it again, it had some issues. If I made any sudden movements while using the webcam it would freeze, or if I moved the laptop/adjusted the moniter it would freeze, and I would have to refresh the internet browser I was using. Often times, it would display a striped pattern. I would restart the computer and then it would work fine. But just this evening, it didn't show up under the list of webcams, or my computer, but it showed on the Add/remove programs. I looked around for a bit and read somewhere that I should try uninstalling and re-installing the driver. I un-installed it but didn't realize I didn't know how to re-install it. Yeah, stupid. It still shows up on the add/remove programs page, though. I'm not sure how to get it working again.

hi there,
im having a problem with my vaio webcam.

most of times it doesnt work..
in the device manager it appears as "other drivers"
inside have two
1- 5U876 device
the device status says: The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

2- unknow device (this one appeared after i tryed to install another driver, not from vaio website)
this one says: No drivers are installed for this device.
ps: after installing this second driver, the next day the camera was working again after a long time. then stoped again.

and every time i try to install it says windows couldnt install, or say this driver is for windows vista, eventhough i took from the right place for my model and OS in vaio website.

however rarely the cam with apparently no reason starts to work again.
then in the devices manager it apear as "image devices" if im not wrong
with these drivers: \arcsoftksufilter.sys
\ksthunk.sys
\usbvideo.sys

i already sent my laptop to the assistance they said they changed the webcam but the problem still

i checked in the system information/components/problem devices and shows this 5U876 device USB\VID_05CA&PID_18FF\5&354E63ED&0&2 The drivers for this device are not installed.

i already installed original config many times, also uninstalled and intalled the driver many times

Hello Brain Trust, I just purchased a HP Envy laptop days ago and it has a built in Intel RealSense 3D Camera. The apps that come with the computer can't detect the 3D Camera at all. The device manager is telling me that it is functioning. I thought maybe there is a button or setting I am just missing to make this thing work. I can't tell. Or it could be something interal as the camera wasn't connected. the RealSense Training just says there is an issue connection with the camera and no error code or message is given past this point. I have been waiting for hours now to talk with HP Chat Support and the one time I got connected, I was quickly disconnected. So I figured I would try here. Since the computer is only days old. If there isn't an obvious easy fix; I am just going to return it. Thanks for any help or information you can send my way. Davey

Hi @ALMAdmin, Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I saw your post regarding the problems with the webcam not working for you. Here is an HP document Webcam Troubleshooting with some troubleshooting steps to try. If that link doesn't work then it is most likely a hardware issue, I would recommend calling HP regarding a repair.
