Pirates of the Caribbean Mod

Q: Pirates of the Caribbean Mod

I've just installed Pirates of the Caribbean and i'm trying to install a mod for it but in order to that you need to run a .bat file which copies/ammends the required files. The only problem is that in vista every file it tries to copy/change it just says access denied. Anybody got any clues how to get around this?

Preferred Solution: Pirates of the Caribbean Mod

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Two options come to mind for this situation.

When running the .bat file, run it in a command prompt window as an administrator.

You could also try to take ownership of the folder it's trying to run in. (if you need help with that let me know)

I hope this helps.

Can anybody help? I have just purchased Pirates of the caribbean for the pc, however it will not load, the game will get as far as loading the storm engine to 100% but then I get a black screen as if the game is loading properly but the after a few seconds it just resets to desktop. I have only once seen an error message but like a fool I did not write it down. However the message was complaining about a "debugger" and suggested that I shut this down and try again. As a result I have installed and run the game with my antivirus and Firewall turned off I have also turned off the sript debugger in IE6 but to no avail I would really appreciate any help that someone would be kind enough to give.

My system spec is:
Windows xp sp2
Pentium 4 ht 3.2

Try right clicking the shortcut for the game, select properties and click on the Compatibility tab and run the game in Windows XP mode and see if that helps. You should also check the developers website for a patch to update it unless you've already done that.

Did you already create a character? If you have not, that would be a problem if you were trying to access yours.

Hi guys, I just installed Pirates of the Caribbean on my computer, the original one from 2003 (Bethesda Softworks), and need some help starting it. Everything installs and loads well, but as soon as I click 'New Game', the game just shuts down, if you like, cancelling all processes. I'm not sure why this could be happening, I know that it's not Windows XP that is the problem because the computers that I played the game on before were also running XP.

Could someone tell me how to attach my DxDiag file so that you guys can see everything about my computer in detail? Also, if there is anything else you require, please just say. This is my first post on these forums, so please tell me if I have broken any rules

I have just installed a game called pirates of the caribbean on my netbook. now it is not a gamemade after the movies, but it came out in 2003. Its an rpg developed by akella and bethesda software. However seeing as I do not have a cd drive i made a CD image out of the two Cd's and just mounted them with daemon tools. I installed, and it loaded just fine. All the way to the game menu. I clicked on new game, and it began to load. However after 10 seconds or so the game stops working and a windows error screen comes up saying that engine.exe has stopped working. I look at the details and it says that the cause is the "sea.dll module". So i removed the file from the game directory, an it loaded just fine. However the problem is now, that there is no sea, no water. because i removed the file it did not load. So the towns and the people will load just fine. the ships load fine. Everything. the graphics are good too. But the sea wont load, its just black. also when u complete the first level, and sail from one island to another, it does it again. same error. except I dont know what the cause was the second time around.
Oh and also, i did some browsing on the matter, a lot of people in forums said to get a crack for the game. Now I have a completely legal version of the game, but they said it helped fix the error. So I got one offline. it was .dll file that you insert into the directory. I replaced it with the original. still nothing changed. so i out the original ba... Read more

Hi there. I love Sid Meier's Pirates! It has to rank up there as one of the greatest games of all time. Sadly, I cannot get it to work on my computer.

It loads the installation screen, it asks me to register (I don't), and goes through the installation process. But when I start it in regular or safe modes, all that happens is a black screen with a spinning ship's wheel in the middle. It never advances on.

I've tried compatibility modes, but I can't seem to find one that works.

I hope someone can help me out here... I love this game, I have since it came out in '87! A lot of high school study time burned away on it.

So why Win 8 and not Win 7???

Hey All:
My Grandson's Dell (Old POS) was loaded with A Dell OEM XP Pro over the original Dell XP Home. This box was given to him. He didn't do it. Someone who thought they knew (but didn't understand!) tried to "upgrade" to Pro. It won't validate and says he may be a victim of piracy (Duh!). So, I can go to the recovery and revert back to factory but is there a way to bring back his user state? It's backed up ( 3hours w/ redo). Can I restore his user settings, saved games and programs to the recovered OS? I'm trying to teach him the right way to do things but poverty bends scruples. I have USMT and AIK and am A+ Certified but never tried to reinstate a boy's games and settings after using the recovery partition. I'm looking for a more modern box but until then, this one will have to suffice.

A:XP Pro loaded over Home (not by me) Pirates!

My understanding of the purpose and design of any recovery mechanism implemented by the system manufacturer...is that it restores the system to the time period first connected/used.
As for as restoring anything from the illegal install...that might not be too wise, even fi such were possible.  If whatever is on there...was not backed up...or no install media exists...I would have to wonder at how it was obtained, with a bent toward being suspicious of software illegally obtained via torrenting or some other mechanism.  Of course, the major risk (which many don't seem to recognize) with software/games obtained thusly...is the risk of malware.

Ex-Kazaaer wants to turn pirates into paying customers!

Here's how it works, as described by the Sydney Morning Herald. Azaak is meant for ISP-level deployment, and will intercept attempts at Internet piracy. Anyone who attempts to search for nasty, evil, pirated software, movies, or music will instead be presented with an opportunity to legally buy access to that same content. The ISP gets a cut of the revenue (assuming our would-be Jack Sparrow ponies up the cash), the new customer has legal software, piracy has been averted, and everyone goes home happy.

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users this summer, but Microsoft is also extending its offer to software pirates. "We are upgrading all qualified PCs, genuine and non-genuine, to Windows 10," says Terry Myerson, Microsoft?s Windows chief, in an interview with Reuters. The move means that thousands, perhaps millions, of machines will get a free copy of Windows 10 even if a license has not been properly acquired. "Anyone with a qualified device can upgrade to Windows 10, including those with pirated copies of Windows," says a Microsoft spokesperson in a statement to The Verge. "We believe customers over time will realize the value of properly licensing Windows and we will make it easy for them to move to legitimate copies."

A:Pirates upgrading to Windows 10 won't get a free valid license

I've never understood where exactly MS stands on piracy. When I was younger and poorer I would pirate windows and it always surprised me just HOW EASY it was to do. Not only that, but features like getting updates from MS themselves was trouble free and all you had to do was run an "activator" that literally took 2 seconds. I've pirated games with more aggressive DRM and those cost 1/3 the price. With assassins creed 2 that I had to set up a fake activation server on my computer so the game could run and I still couldn't receive updates. Hell, I didn't even pirate AS2, just EA's activation servers kept crashes so I had to crack it just to play a game I paid for.

On one hand people who pirate windows want to use windows software, so I can understand the soft stance MS might carry. At the same time if they were serious about piracy it should be easy to thwart their efforts by not allowing them easy access to updates.

A new phishing scam targeting online pirates is much broader than initially thought, with Internet providers all over the world being bombarded with fake copyright infringement notices and settlement demands. The scammers are pretending to represent various rightsholders, including HBO.

Scammers have found a way to exploit copyright infringement notices for their own profit.

Posing as a well-known anti-piracy monitoring outfit representing major movie and TV companies, they?re sending numerous takedown notices to Internet providers.

We first noticed the phishing scam last month when a Cox subscriber was targeted, but at the time it was unclear how significant it was.
