Correct password for windows 7 Home Premium not working anymore?

Q: Correct password for windows 7 Home Premium not working anymore?

A couple of weeks ago the correct password for my PC stopped working and I have no idea why. I have tried many times the correct password (oh trust me it is not a matter of caplocks) and it does not work. I have alot of files on the PC that i really need (pics of vacations, Uni files, music etc).
My laptop is a HP Pavilion g6-2235tx
I dont know if this would be helpful but, whenever I go into the login window the window that appears when you hold down shift for too long appears.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Preferred Solution: Correct password for windows 7 Home Premium not working anymore?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After today's update, I cannot go past the screen with my account tile.  Normally, there is a box under the tile for me to enter a password.  The box is not there.  When I click on the tile (either right or left click), I am returned to
the same screen.  I have restarted the computer several times, including once in safe mode (by clicking F8), to no avail.

I am trying to remove my password on my pc but it is not allowing me to do so.  I keep on getting a message saying "Windows cannot remove the password. Password and/or account policies require the account to have a password."  I do

A:Can't Remove Password on Windows 7 Home Premium

Hi,

How did you remove the password in Windows 7? Could you provide the detailed steps for us?

Please try to go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts, click Manager User Accounts; in the users list, select the particular user which you want
to remove password, and try to reset the password with a blank password to check if it can work.

Hope it helps.

How do you know he gains access to the computer? If you are sure he knows the password, perhaps he is using a keylogger.

You could, of course, ask him; unless there is some sort of sibling rivalry.

Hi Everyone, Really hope someone can help me as im going bald from tearing my hair out.

My laptop has died, but as i have virtually everything saved on an external hard drive I thought I could just use my daughters laptop until I get chance to go out and get myself a replacement.

My daughters laptop has me as an admin, and my daughter as a user, mainly so I could have parental controls on it. I've not had need to use hers in ages. I wanted to install the wireless printer on her laptop so I could print out my work, but when it asked me for administrator password, and when i entered it and it said it had expired, then I started to have problems.

I've searched online and tried all the solutions i've come across so far (changing date back, trying to run as admin and changing passwords to unlimited, turn off password required etc etc etc), but at every stage it asks me for the password, however, as the password has expired, it wont accept what I enter. So at the moment I currently have two defunct laptops....mine that is totally kapput and my daughters which, although working perfectly, it not much use as I cant print anything, alter her status to admin, or open a new user account!

If anyone can give me any help whatsoever, bearing in mind that im not totally computer literate so need basic instructions, i'll be sooooo grateful!

Many thanks, in advance,
Sam

A:Windows 7 Home Premium Adminstrator Password Expiry

Hello Sam, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Changing the password for the account should stop the warning message.User Account Password - Change
Afterwards, you could disable password expiration if you like. Since the computer has Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it, you'll need to use OPTION TWO below instead.Password Expiration - Enable or Disable
Hope this helps for now,

Hello.
My friend has a laptop with Windows 7 home premium and forgot the admin password. When:
- I switched to safe mode it also asked me for password
- couldn't switch to command panel because it also ask for admin pass
- in windows xp there could be ctr +alt +del and i could type administrator and login but in windows 7 it does not work.
Cannot reset the password in any way, is there any way to reset the password without re-installing the new windows?

Why not just logon as the standard user?

From the Desktop, if you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, you do get the option to change the password.....of course you need to know what the old password was in the first place.

Hi,

I have 2 computers which both run Win7 Home Premium.

When I need to copy something from one PC to another, I'm accessing the other pc using the old method: \\computername\c$. This works perfectly fine for me and I don't plan to change my working method.
I do have one big problem though; The passwords for accessing network shares are cached on the PC. So you only have to enter the password once, and you're clear to access the share for forever (even after a reboot).

Is there anyway to disable password caching? In other words: is there a way to always ask for a password? I've Googled for the solution but all I came across where some solutions which concerned using policy rules in the registry, but since I only have Home Home Premium I can't do that. Also, the passwords do not seem to be stored/cleared from >control userpasswords2>advanced>password management.

Thanks in advance.

edit: I've got a temporary workaround. If anyone has a more elegant/better solution, please don't hesitate to post it.

-run rundll32.exe keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr
-click add
-enter pc name, enter correct username, enter WRONG password.

This way your PC always tries to connect to the other PC using a wrong password and therefore eventually always asks for the correct password (which than can be entered manually).

A:Fresh install Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit, password lockout, no BIOS

Why would you password your BIOS and then not know the password? You must have known if you'd go to that extent that it is not recoverable because it is used mainly by companies to foil thieves.

You'll need to contact the PC maker to have them help you because we have no idea what your true relation is to the PC and they have ways of confirming this.

I'm assuming you know for sure by now this is a BIOS password and not a Windows password that keeps coming up when you try to Clean Install Windows 7 because you're not booting the installation media correctly? How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD

Hello guys

I have a problem with my new laptop since Monday.

The laptop was working perfectly since bought just before Christmas. On Monday explorer was very slow and I couldn't close it through Task Manager so I restart the laptop manually and since then windows didn't want to start. It was stopping on the user login page, however the log in option was not showing. The disk light was switched off after few minutes. So I put in recovery disk, however it was unable to recover. It was doing exactly the same thing as before.

Then I used the windows installation disk. Started with recovering but didn't work and then with installation.

During installation following error was shown:

The file or directory D:\Users is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdisk utility.

Then followed when pressed OK with error code: 0x80070570.

When turning on the laptop without the CD, the message saying that the device is not connected to my computer.
File: \Boot\BCD
status: 0xc00000e9

But I think this message is showing because in the advance options I changed in BOOT to star with CD not with hard drive.

Can you please tell me how to perform Chkdisk?

And the steps I should follow to ensure that everything will be fine and I will be able to use this laptop again.

Really appreciate your help.

After that Boot Into the Disk and then Attempt a Startup Repair if that Fails then please open Command Prompt and enter the Following:

Code:

Also, everytime I launch the PC, I get a popup which states: "Desktop window manager stopped working and was closed".
Here's what I tried to do so far:
-I updated my GPU drivers
-I tried to restart the desktop window manager in services.msc
-Troubleshooting in the personalize window
-In preferences I chose the system to adjust for best apperance
-I used the sfc /scannow command in cmd, after the scan it said that it detected broken files but was unable to fix them all, I added the log as a .rar attachment.

Recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 HP 64 Bit. Microphone was working fine before I upgraded the OS. Also I've noticed my previously working IDT Audio Control Panel is now missing, tried to re-install but to no avail. Currently in the Device Manager, the Audio Device is High Definition Audio Device. Also, under Sound, Recording, Microphone is not plugged in. I have already checked 'Show disconnected/disabled devices'. My speakers are working fine, just the microphone. It is plugged into the 3.5mm pink jack, I do not have any front microphone jacks. Have also tried to update the drivers but no changes.

I suppose installing an Audio Device Manager and identifying the devices according to the ports will work, but none of these audio managers like RealTek or IDT work for me, which I am not sure why.

Motherboard: Intel D946GZIS

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The IDT (previously called SigmaTel) drivers are needed. The Windows installed HD Audio Codec are a basic function driver and will provide sound, but depending on the hardware sound chip may not provide all functions.

Here is the IDT driver from the Intel downloads. Install this and see if fixes the problems.

Ok so it is a small thing but I was wondering if anyone could help.

Everytime I am searching around on the internet and find a video that would normally play in windows media player (only inside of Internet Explorer) I get a connection failure saying there is something wrong with my connection. No video ever comes up. But here is the kicker.... If I right click the link and go save as and download it I can play it in Windows media player. Any ideas on why in Windows Vista I can't play videos inside Internet Explorer itself and why I have to download the video instead. And I am not talking about huge videos either just small clips like film previews or something of that nature.

Thanks to whomever helps!

A:Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit gadget gallery is not working

Hi prabhath and Welcome

Firstly make sure the gadget platform is enabled in control panel\programs and features\windows features.

Also have a look here - Gadgets not Displaying Correctly in Windows 7 - Fix
Its not quite the same problem as yours but the reset may help.

Also this may be of help - Gadgets - Restore Default Gadgets

Hello friends!

I make a bunch of videos for YT, and ever so often, I want to make a quick video on WMM. Yesterday, I was working on a project (with a bunch of large files) when I split a clip. The first part of the clip turned black in the thumbnail section and wouldn't play in the preview. I've had this happen before, so I closed the program and reopened it but now the entire timeline was gray and neither the video would play in preview, nor the audio (an overlaid WAV) would play. So, I restarted my computer. Nothing. For 12 hours, NOTHING. So, today I decided to make sure I had all the correct updates and drivers, but when I downloaded my first update and tried to open the program it wouldn't let me and I got a new message:

"Sorry, Movie Maker can't start. Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements before trying to start the Movie Maker again, and then try to update the drivers for your video card if Movie Maker still doesn't start."

I had just updated all of the drivers, so I decided to uninstall and re-install the program. I remember an issue with this when I first downloaded it so I went on to this forum to be sure I was downloading the correct program but still NOTHING!

I am fairly computer savvy and am literally at a loss! I can edit my videos in a different program, but this particular video was about ten minutes from being complete, after working for about two hours and I would be pissed to have to start from scratch... Read more

Hi, My Win 7 PC has developed a number of issues recently, which may be related or coincidental. It began a week ago when I booted the comp and recieved a message telling me I may be the victim of counterfeit software, and that my copy of Windows may not be genuine (it is genuine).I've had the machine for over 10 months prior to this, with no such notification! I was able to 'activate' windows via control panel>system & security>system, and thought all was well..until my next reboot, when the comp was 'hanging' for several minutes on a black screen before the welcome/logon screen appeared, then again after logging on,until the desktop became visible. I also realised the was no audio, and the speaker icon was missing from the taskbar.Going into 'services' I could see that the plugandplay, audio endpoint builder and audio services were all stopped, even though they are all set to 'automatic' - once I started those services the audio worked fine, although with no speaker icon. I have to do this at every startup now, which is getting a bit irritating! Finally,I am no longer able to update my Avira AV - I receive a message 'access denied',although my other utilities such as Spybot and Malwarebytes all update correctly.I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling avira, but still cannot update. Any help or suggestions welcome! Thanks in advance.

A:Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit,slow boot up and audio service not working.

If tour AV program can't get updates you might be in the wrong forum. That is one sign of an infection trying to protect itself. I'm going to ask a moderator to move your message over to the Am I Infected forum so that you can get the trained help you need to determine the cause of your problem. AND they can solve it too!

Hi all

Done a fresh install of Vista Home Premium SP2 on an old Sony Vaio laptop.  After activation I just can't get Windows Update to download anything apart from the latest Windows Update Client There's no error message, just "checking for updates" constantly.   It's been running for over 24 hours now with no progress.

Considering this is a fresh install - any ideas?

Cheers!

UPDATE

For anyone that's interested the updates have now arrived after almost three full days of checking for updates.  It appears my new ISP gives piss poor connection speeds.

My internet is not working (IE, Firefox, Windows live Mail) but I can see other computers on my network and those other computers can connect with the internet.

Event viewer shows a list of critical errors: all showing as:
RpcServerUseProtseq:ncacn_ip_tcp error 1721

In addition, the events viewer also shows errors for Diagnostic Policy service terminating and and error called svchost.exe_MpsSvc.

In order to resolve the issue, I first did a restore to about 1 week ago, but that did not correct the problem. Now I am lost. Please help.

I'm in a similar situation as this guy:
http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/1008546-how-replace-vista-full-windows.html

except when I boot up my disk, I only get to the 2nd step:

2) Progress Bar:
The next screen is a more graphical progress bar indicating Windows 7 is still working in the background.

it wont go past this screen.

The same thing happens when I boot it up normally(without the disk for windows 7 home premium), only with the disk in it has the windows 7 rather than the vista look.

Does anyone know what is causing this problem?

Hi,
You've got this thread started too http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/1008564-laptop-hangs-loading-bar-screen.html

Is that one now solved too? You've marked this one solved, could you explain how you solved it in case others need to solve the same problem sometime in the future?

Thanks

Hi ,

I have encrypted my external harddrive but unfortunately encryption was not 100% completed ,  but I was use that data with password to unlock drive . but now  when I am trying to unlock with correct password its showing incorrrect password also
I lost recovery key too . Please help me get my data .

Thanks
Swatantra

A:Bitlocker Password not working even its correct

Hello Swatantra,
Did you disconnect the external hard drive when the encryption stopped?
You can?t find the recovery key?
Based on my test, if I encrypt the partition E: , the recovery key will be created automatically just after the encryption starts.
Please confirm that you have lost the recovery key.
If you have the recovery key, please take a look at the following article to use the recovery password to restore the external hard drive.

Greetings Tech Support Guy, The computer I wish to purchase has Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled, with a ticket to purchase an upgrade To Windows 7 Home Premium.
As I wish to use Windows 7 immediately (without bothering with Vista Home Premium) can you please advise, in detail, how I can delete Vista completely and install Windows 7 with minimum fuss.
All help greatly appreciated,
With Best Regards
Outofthedarkness

A:Replacing Vista Home Premium with Windows 7 Home Premium

When you get the Vista DVD, boot from it and choose Custom "advanced" installation. Then highlight the partition you want to put 7 on (preferably the Vista partition) then click "delete" (be careful which partition you choose) once the old Vista partition is deleted, be sure the new unallocated partition is highlighted and hit next to continue installing 7. Here is a screenshot, your partition structure may be slightly different.

Hello, so I've just found an old laptop I've had hoarded with windows 8 on it. Everything on it is super outdated, and I noticed it had my account on it which was basically my Microsoft account. I tried to sign in, but it says it's incorrect. I know my
password, and I've changed it over the years, but since the laptop is so old, it wants me to put in the last password I used to sign in on it. Problem is that I had so any password changed and I cannot remember what password I used. It will not let me use
my new password, because it says it's incorrect. Any way to fix this?

Hey guys,

I want to upgrade my OS from Vista Home Premium to 7 Home Premium and I have the Anytime upgrade DVD (provided at the time when I bought my laptop which came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium). Since this is the first time I will ever try to upgrade my OS and I will be paying for it (lol) I wanted to clear a few doubts before I went about it. My current OS is a Deutsch (German) version. I want my new OS to be in English. So my question is -

Will the upgrade process provide me with the option to choose an installation language?

I researched a bit about language packs and if I'm not very wrong, Multiple language packs work only for Business and Ultimate versions but not for Basic and Home premium. Third party language packs like Vistalizator has been reported to work fine but Microsoft doesn't recommend it and some users have reported to have problems where it pops the message " your windows is not genuine".

So should I do an upgrade or just do a clean install with an original Windows 7 Home Premium DVD?

A:Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade

Welcome
I am not sure about the answer regarding the language pack, but I am sure about the upgrade or the clean install. Do the clean install. A clean install is always preferred over an upgrade. With an upgrade all the old problems that may exist with the OS are just carried to the new installation.
Upgrades often fail, either because of third party software that is not compatible, or malicious software that breaks in the new install.
There are some members that back up their stuff and do a clean install on a regular basis to have the OS run smoothly as the first day. Trust me go with the clean install and enjoy your new OS
