Problem with corrupt files which clearly are not corrupt

Q: Problem with corrupt files which clearly are not corrupt

This is going to be a long winded, very experimental thread so here goes.
This is about 3 computers in question, I have 8.
One is an AMD athlon 2800+ 2.1Ghz with Inno3d 7600gs 512mb with 2gb ram.
The other 2 are Intel celeron (D) 3.46 ghz with 2gb 533mhz ram and 9400GT 1GB ram exactly the same pc's.
All running the same Windows XP PRO SP2.
I am trying to extract an RAR archive file using winrar on one computer with GTA San Andreas Ultimate 2008 from the OED.
This has worked before on this particular computer.
If you know who The OED is then you know what I mean.
Anyway, it works fine on the AMD and *one* of the Intels.
On one of the intels when I try and extract the archive, it says many files are corrupt.
Yet I have deleted all traces, and transfered again using a Toshiba flash drive.
And everytime I extract them it says they are corrupt.
remember this game has worked on this same computer before.
What is saying they are corrupt?
It works on the exact same pc in the next room.
I think my son has put some software on there which I have deleted.
Which may have put some hidden DRM type of virus that is trying to stop me using copied cracked programs.
It is not a firewall or anti virus problem I can assure you so do not even go there.Remember both PC's the same, identical, with everything.
Any ideas or questions?

Preferred Solution: Problem with corrupt files which clearly are not corrupt

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've been using the free Cobian Backup for about a year, with no problems. My backup procedure is to make full backups every 2 weeks, with daily incremental backups.

My 400GB external HDD is beginning to fill up. I need to remove some of the older full backups. Of course, the problem is that an older file may be non-corrupt, whereas a newer "copy" of the same file may have become corrupt.

I recently found another free tool, "Duplicate Cleaner". This file searches for duplicate files that can be identical in name, time, MD5 or any selected combination of these. I'm planning to use Duplicate Cleaner to remove duplicate files from my HDD.

So here is my question.

Is it possible for a corrupt file to show the same MD5 hash as an identical non-corrupt file? Or does the corruption produce a different MD5?

If the hashes are the same, then of course there is a danger that Duplicate Cleaner (or any tool) could delete the non-corrupt file and leave the corrupt file.

(Note that this thread is related to "MD5", rather than "Software".)

Somehow I have corrupt CAB files on my PC, which won't allow me to use Windows Update to get SP2 or other fixes, and it won't let me run Live Update on Norton, nor will it let me download items due to an error that says signature cannot be verified or something. Then a corrupt file error message comes up. Any thoughts? Will re-installing Windows XP fix it? Anything I try to download gives me the same corrupt file error having something to due with signature verification, then when I click run, I get that corrupt file error as the download tries to finish. I used a program called RegCure a few times, but hopefully that didn't screw things up. I went back and undid those changes. PLEASE HELP!!

A:Corrupt CAB Files Problem

The mods of this forum do suggest not using any registry cleaners, so regcure could have caused the issue. First things first:
Click start, run, type cmd, type sfc /scannow
Have your xp cd ready in case it asks for it. If that doesn't fix it post back. You can do a repair without completely re-installing windows, so don't go that route yet.

Hello, i got a few problems lately with some files and i fear it might be some corruption in the windows system from older virus or something and have no idea how to fix it.

For example in a zip file i got something called "header corurpt" or when trying to play a game i get "the archon directory within the current user's home directory is corrupt or the home directory is unwrittable" which i also got in another game during instalation.

Is there any way to can search for corruption errors? Because i cant format the pc since i have left the windows xp cd at my older house in greece because my parents use it too plus i have a small problem getting all the drivers for everything. Is there any solution or program that searches for corruptions and restores them?Or restores them manually

A:Problem with corrupt files or directory?

first do a scan disk.

Run type cmd in the command prompt type in

then type in "Y" for yes then reboot
this will take some time have some coffee and sit back.

Old virus?

I would go here to the link in my signature Virus, Spyware, malware help and tell them or mention old virus and your problem. They will give you instructions. I can not help you with virus here.

Good luck.

I can't believe I made such a stupid choice. I was resizing my partition (G: drive) on my second hard drive, which I mainly use as storage. It's a 400 GB partition. After the computer restarted and began resizing the partition, I realized that I didn't want to wait for it because it'd obviously take 6-10 hours. When I chose cancel, it was done moving about 26 GB of data and a message came up saying that the data "might" become corrupt. I thought that I could risk that. I'm an impatient person and I didn't want to wait for so long. So, I canceled it and restarted my computer. When it reached windows, my desktop was missing (G:/desktop). Obviously, almost everything on my G: drive was corrupt, but not only that, the 26 GB of files was missing, which I found intact in a hidden folder. They were obviously just moved to a different folder.

I tried running chkdsk, and when I restarted my computer, it said something like "repairing orphaned files", and it took about 2 hours for it to finish. I guess it was rebuilding the index or something. But that still didn't fix the corrupt files. Note: I can access the drive just fine.

The files are there, but when I click on them, they appear to be corrupt. The hard drive is the same size as before. Is there a program that can repair the corrupt files? I don't want to get getdataback for NTFS. I know it's an excellent program, but it costs a lot of money.

I'm having the weirdest problem with Vista. After saving image files (tried as jpegs and bmps so far) from any application (Adobe CS2, Canon DPP), I move the images across the LAN to a shared folder on an XP Pro machine. When I reboot the XP Pro machine, the images appear corrupt - no embedded preview on some of them and none of them will open. Weirdly, if copy the folder out of the shared directory and onto the desktop of the XP Pro machine and then reboot, those files appear to remain undamaged. Existing images in the shared directory also appear unaffected.

I've duplicated this problem copying files to a 2nd XP Pro machine, so the issue would appear to originate with the Vista box. I can't see why it only manifests after a reboot of the XP Pro machine though. All the PCs appear to be free from viruses and/or malware. I'm totally puzzled by this one.

This problem only seems to manifest if I copy the files across from within Vista. For example:

Files saved in shared directory X in Vista. Log into Vista box and copy to shared directory Y on XP Pro box. Files appear corrupt after reboot of XP Pro box.

Files saved in shared directory X in Vista. Log into XP Pro box and copy from shared directory X on Vista box into shared directory Y on XP Pro box. Files retain integrity. So the origin and destination directories remain the same, and only the machine performing the operation changes. When it's the Vista machine, the files are somehow corrupted.

I have a big one and its confusing the life out of me.

About two weeks ago my Itunes said my ipod was corrupted and needs to be restored and then it does so and says it is still corrupted upon rebooting the Ipod... this cycle can go on forever. I also noticed that my disc drive will spin a disc but when I open it in My Computer it simply shows it as empty. Upon system boot into Windows a Nero message box would say something about some problems with Upper or Lower Drives or something like that so I uninstalled Nero completely.

I uninstalled everything to do with apple and itunes/ipod as well with a 3rd party uninstaller and tried cleaning out my Registry of all left overs.

Antivirus scans show nothing

Upon reinstalling itunes - still had my playlists and songs... meaning it did not fully uninstall. great. Also same problem with the ipod. What makes me think this is a problem with my PC and not apple software/ipod is that the ipod is only seen as a removable disk in My Computer, normally it identifies as IPOD.

I restored my pc to a date way before the problems started. nothing changed.

I tried to do a repair install of windows but it said it was missing some files like framdit.ttf which is a font so i said to skip but then it said it was missing fs.rec.sys so i didn't go any further bcuz that sounded serious. (althought this might be because i have tinyxp installed so it doesn't have a lot of the files)

After i canceled that and rebooted, i lost my di... Read more

I've recently upgraded my windows 7 to windows 10 enterprise. I have onedrive account with files synced to cloud, before upgrading i've backed up onedrive files locally in my computer. Some of those files can't be opened after upgrade, formats include
.docx and .xlsx and .png. Most of these files were in direct onedrive main/root folder rather than in subfolders. As i can see those images in subfolders can be opened but not doc and excel files.

How can i view those files again, why have they become corrupt, what could I do in future to prevent these problems

Hi - hope you can help with my pc.

Have been putting up with the error message "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" message for a while now.

When Googling the error message I came across your excellent site - hope you can help sort this out.

The error message comes up every now and then when I try and get into windows explorer, either from the desktop shortcut, or from my documents.

The details in the error signature part of the message lists the following:
AppName: explorer.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512
ModName: explorer.exe
ModVer: 6.0.2900.5512
Offset: 00011900

When I click on the debug option all my icons on the desktop disappear momentarily, then re-appear.

I'm not sure if this could be down to Malware of some sort or perhaps a corrupt windows file somewhere.

I'm using Kaspersky Internet Suite 2009 (ver and Ashampoo Antispyware 2 Guard (ver 2.05) - both of which are updated regularly. Neither have shown anything untoward.

i just recently back up my files to an hd drive with help of win 7 back up wizard and now my question is how to restore back up files if the pc is no longer working because of corrupt files?? or BSOD or anything... please help.. i just want to be prepared in any outcome that may occur..

A:how to restore back uped files if the pc is no longer working because of corrupt files??

Well first of all, you don't want to restore your backup if your pc is no longer working. A backup only makes copies of your personal files, like documents, pictures, ect... You would want to use your Windows 7 CD/DVD to restore your system to factory specs, then you restore your backup (using the same Restore Wizard) to get all your personal stuff back.

Hope that answers your question.

I get a windows boot error 0xc000000e if I try to boot into safe mode or launch startup repair through through windows boot manager. I tried using a windows 7 recovery usb but startup repair says it cannot repair the problem automatically. Through the command line I ran chkdsk /f and /r multiple times, and now all the files verify and and there are no more bad cluster errors, but I still can't boot. I can get into f8 options but safe mode doesn't work nor does startup repair so I'm not sure what good that does. If I try to boot windows 7 normally, it hangs on the startup screen and the animation doesn't run.

I used partition wizard and it can explore the filesystem fine. It also says that the partition with windows 7 and all my data, is inactive. I tried setting it active using PW but it doesn't do anything. I also tried to fixmbr but it doesn't seem to make a difference either.

I ran an offline sfc scan and it said it found corrupt files but was unable to repair, which I would usually do a inplace upgrade but I can't boot. I'm running chkdsk /r again to see if I can atleast get into safe mode then do a repair install, and finally make a clone when my replacement hdd arrives. I have backups but since they were ran while the partition wasn't bootable I'm not sure if I can get it to boot on a new hdd anyway, which is why I want to make a clone while running windows 7.

I am not sure why I keep getting hdd inaccessible errors or why I'm unable to boot when every tool ... Read more

So every couple of months I seem to have a problem... Something acting a bit weird, or my whole computer is amazingly slow, etc..

So I usually go for chkdsk /f /r and sfc /scannow

Now when running sfc, I ALWAYS seem to have some corrupt files? Now all I really do is browse Facebook, YouTube, Netflix etc. And play games using steam. So why do they always get corrupt?

I'm suffering at the moment because the sfc command "can't fix some of them" and I've run dism restore health but still to no avail.
This is a real pain...

A:Why do my files keep getting corrupt?

Hi Tom! This could happen for variety of reasons. If repeating, then be prepare for some hardware problems.

When it started?
Describe your hardware.. and did you perform some temperature monitoring?
What does your SMART data for hard drive shows?
Is your (system) partition almost full?
Could also be some power issues.

First, if you can, make a backup of you essential files (if you didn't already), fill in you system data in profile and provide some more info..

Edit: look at your event viewer for last few hours after problems occurs. Critical events and warnings should give you some more info!

Corrupt how? Did you have a virus that 'encrypted' them? Is that why you posted in the malware removal section? Are you still infected?

But the basic answer is no, if a file is corrupt or encrypted moving it to another computer will not change that. Now there may be a way of getting a good copy of that file back though but you'd need to give us a lot more detail as to what happened and what version of Windows you have.

I can also move this to another section if you don't have a virus or ransomware affecting the computer.

Hi all;

I've been getting bluescreens every so often while on my computer(btw I run windows 7 64bit), always when I'm on a demanding online game but also maybe while I'm surfing the net (like a few seconds ago I got on while typing this up for the first time...) Anyway I know the cause is corrupted files. However when I attempt to use the command prompts file checker to sort the problem it searches the file and tells me:

Windows Resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

So I attempt to go down the standard root to find out which files are corrupted, once I add the appropriate info into command prompt this message appears:

FINDSTR: cannot open cannot

FINDSTR: cannot open repair

FINDSTR: cannot open member

FINDSTR: cannot open file

And when I search for the file sfcdetails.txt my computer inform's me it doesn't exist.

My question therefore is can anyone sort this problem out

Does anyone know of a good/compatiable/free corrupt file finder so I can sort the problem out that way as I can't seem to find anything.

Thank you all so much for any kind of help;

Hi pull,
I can't follow your link I'm afraid ... it could be because I'm coming in from a corporate firewall that could be blocking it by policy
It actually sounds to me like you might have been hit by ransomware: malicious software which encrypts your personal data files and then demands a ransom in Bitcoin to retrieve them.  Perhaps if I could see the attachment, that might help.  Hopefully someone else will chime in to add some value.
Do you have backups?
If not, then STOP USING THAT COMPUTER immediately and recover what you can, and then remove the ransomware.  See if you can find out which one it is, as there may be a decrypter available here.
It may not be ransomware, in which case you'd need to ascertain how your files got corrupted and what the extent of the damage is.
Here is a tutorial on how to use Puppy Linux to recover your data:

I performed a sfc /scannow to see if anything thing was wrong and it said that it found some corrupted files
but was unable to fix some of them, I looked in c:\windows\logs\cbs\.... and it was a huge log
When I checked the log I found it confusing but I think I made out that a few of the files that could not be fixed where called "hosts winsock inferstracture..... " or something along those lines.
I performed the scan again and then got the message "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations" and no log I think was generated.

Is this anything to worry about?, I looked on MS help and it said corrupt files were rare... well I seemed to have alot!
Were all the files fixed seeing as it could not find anything on the second scan?

Hi there, i currently have a family members pc over to fix but have ran into more problems than i was expecting, i could really do with some further expertise as i'm at a loss.

PC is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with SP1.

The original problem was the speaker icon in the tray had a red x and says 'The Audio service is not running' so no sound. I checked in the services section and the audio service is set to Automatic which i think is normal, when running the Windows trouble shooter it says "Problems found : One or more audio services isn't running" This lead me to the motherboards (ASUS) website to update the drivers, during installation it failed.

So i decided to run sfc /scannow which finished with the message "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log."

I've attached the log.

This is where i get lost to be honest, i think there are more serious problems than just the Audio device not working, i'd be very grateful for any help

When I first began using this machine, I installed Open Office and it worked well, until it began writing corrupt files and caused all sorts of problems. I removed OOO and ran SFC /scannow and somehow convinced chkdisk to work. I haven't had any corrupt file issues until today, when the folder c:\Dev-Cpp was completely corrupt. This is the folder containing my primary IDE, Bloodshed Dev C++, and everything was corrupted. Since I need Dev for almost everything I do, I reinstalled it in the directory c:\Dev-Cpp2. I don't think its the hard drive, I get the idea that Vista is corrupting these files somehow possibly due to a compatibility issue.

I have attached the results of the most recent sfc /scannow if it helps. I have read the tutorial, but I still cannot figure out how to repair some of the files. This time around, I have way more corrupt files than I did last time (I had 3-5 I believe).

I cannot have anymore failures on this mach... Read more

To skip straight to the point, I did a sfc /scannow and got a "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."

I've attached the log, which doesn't make much sense to me. If anyone can explain to me which files and/or if it's anything serious that I need to worry about and fix, plz let me know. Thanks.

A:Corrupt Files

Unless I missed something, the problem appears related to mingliu.ttc. This is the Traditional Chinese font. If you are using that one and have problems, you may need to do something, otherwise not. How to uninstall and install fonts is described in Windows Help and Support in Vista. It is not uncommon that SFS fail to fix things, but this does not necessarily means there is a real problem.

When I boot my computer I get a message saying that QuickTime is corrupt and unreadable. It tells me to run Chkdsk. I've seen many posts on this board about this specific error but none of the resolutions provided have helped me.

I have been able to find and run Chkdsk (via cmd & by right clicking on My Computer) but when I do it says that it cannot be run now because the disk is in use but it will run upon next boot. I've tried restarting and completely shutting down and cold booting but neither worked.

I've also tried to Remove QuickTime but I receive an error telling me that it cannot be removed. I don't know what else to do. I've already had to run an Image Restore on my Vista machine only one month ago for other corrupt files. Please let me know how to fix this.

Can someone please help...my sfc command says it can't fix some files...but I don't know what files or how to fix them...looked at CBS.log but doesn't mean much to me.

Tried to attach CBS log but am getting this error:

CBS.log: Your file of 9.00 MB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 2.00 MB for this filetype.

could someone let me know how to upload log and check what files are 'Corrupt' and how to fix them...?

A:SFC Corrupt Files on CBS.Log ?

If you filter your file and send only the filtered items, that will help alot. Try opening CBS.log in Notepad, click Edit, Find and then enter "corrupt" in the search box. Cut'n'paste ONLY lines that meet this search criterion into a second file, and you should have something much smaller. That, you should be able to upload.

Hi, recently I've noticed that something has been happening with my laptop. When I turn on the computer and to the log in screen, it says Loginui.exe is corrupt or something like that. Although i am able to log in still, and use my laptop. When I log in and open programs, for example Google Chrome, i am able to navigate chrome normally, but a message continuously pops up saying chrome.exe is corrupt. I am also having problems with programs such as Java, Vuze, Windows live messenger, which i am completely unable to use. When i open windows live messenger i get msnmsgr.exe - application error ( The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000102). Click OK to close the application). For vuze i receive the message ( The JVM found at {0} is damaged, please re-install or define... etc) I have tried uninstalling and re-installing certain programs. I have also just rebooted my computer to get a fresh start. Can anyone help me out with this problem, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Try creating a new user account and see if that helps. It sounds as though your account is corrupt.

I was surfing the net looking for funny videos for my site. When i left one site i got that little yellow bubble popup in the right lower hand corner saying "firefox.exe C windows arialb.ttf is corrupt please run chkdsk". Then while going here, i got one saying

How do i run scandisk in XP, and does any1 know what could be going on. Theres no weird processes in taskmanager.

A:Corrupt Files

You can run CHKDSK as follows:
Open "My Computer"
Right click on "Local Disk [C:]"
Select "Properties"
Select the "Tools" tab
Select "Error checking"
It may or may not ask you to schedule this on the next bootup.

You may also wish to run the "SFC /SCANNOW" command in the "RUN" window. You will need your Windows XP CD for this.

OK , I had been searching around deleting certain things trying to rid my computer of anything to do with Reimager(supposed to be associated with microsoft . so anyways I ended up doing a system restore which didnt solve any issues . I ended up with a could not load  , corrupt or missing files . By the way I'm running windows 10 version 1607 . so the corrupt or missing file showed as CDPUser Svc_9c3dab . Error code 15100 . I've searched microsoft, windows, tecnet, and cant get an answer that I can understand . whatever this error is , its definitely effecting my PC .PC was super fast now it takes awhile to load a page or it wont load at all . I get messages saying page is not responding . Start up is slow . I have had windows 10 for over a year I believe and never had problems before . I don't know if its something I did or windows itself . I noticed in microsoft and windows forums that alot of people are having problems like mine but any answers I seen where just a little to complicated for me . when they wrote the book windows for Dummies they were thinking of me . Oh , by the way , Hello People . I hope someone can help me .Thank's alot Bob M.

I can usually fix most of my PC problems with just a simple google search but this one has me stumped. I keep getting corrupt files, like videos, mp3's, stuff like that. It's been happening for about a week now and I can't figure out why. When I first get the file it will play fine and then a couple of hours or so later it just shows that the file is 0:00 in length and everything is blank except the filesize which stays the same. I've ran a couple of different virus scanners and even ran an online one at bitdefender's website. I've ran Chkdsk on both my hard drives and everything checked out OK. It's not on just one hard drive, it seems to happen on both of them. It seems to only happen to video and audio files as far as I can tell. It's starting to get a little irritating lol. Any help with this would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help.

Not sure where this one would fit. So I apologize if it is in the wrong place.have Windows XP SP 2. Lately I have been having a problem with a lot of corrupted CAB files. When I run Avast and it gives me a report page comes up with a list of corrupted files. I try to repair them but i get an error saying there was a problem trying to repair them. The only thing I notice is having slight problems with Firefox and slow shutdowns on puter (etc. programs don't shut down and I have to manually shut them down)
Any suggestions??

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Find the manufacturer of your hard drive and run their Hard Drive Diagnostics Utility. . Sounds like it could be a faulty hard drive

My friend uses Windows 7.  She has an 8GB generic USB flash drive formatted MS-DOS Fat32 with around 4GB of Word (.doc and .docx) and PDF (.pdf) files on it.  The drive mounts fine.  All of the files look OK.  They can be copied, renamed, etc.  But every single file, whether opened from the original flash drive or from a hard drive they've been copied to, says it is corrupt and cannot be opened.  I've tried opening from the flash drive and from a hard drive copy using Win 7 Pro, Win 10 Pro, OS X Yosemite and OS X El Capitan, with various versions of Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, Adobe Reader, and Adobe Acrobat.  Any thoughts?

A:All files are corrupt.

There are several possibilities as to the corruption. In lieu of all the ransomwares going around, that can be possible. I would check for any ransom notes or suspicious behavior on her computer - has she had any issues with files ON the computer?
Otherwise, if we can rule that out, there is always the chance of the flash drive having failed, causing corruption of files.
I would suggest trying recovery software such as Recuva to maybe see about any "former versions", or file repair tools (I don't recall the name of a reputable one specifically).
You can also try opening one of the .doc(x) files in Notepad - see if you can see some English in there somewhere, the rest is just formatting garbage (sometimes there is XML). I've also had some success in opening a PDF or Word document with 7Zip - seems bizarre, but a lot of files can be opened with it since they basically "archive" some assets in them.
If you are willing to upload a file to a third-party site for us to access, someone may be able to help you further.

When I scan with SFC, it turns up mfcuia32.dll and mfc30.dll (twice) as being corrupt. Does anyone know what these files are for? Thanks.

A:Corrupt Files

Hi Tipacanoe

First verify your system clock has the correct date.

You can check Microsoft's site DLL Help Database for any dll's you have a question about. Check the version number of the dll on your machine and click on the more information link to get an idea what installed the dll.

mfcuia32.dll ver is installed with several operating systems Win98SE being one, including Office 97 and a few other programs.
mfc30.dll ver is also installed with several operating systems.

You can point SFC to extract the dll's and replace them. If SFC still tells you they are corrupt and you are not experiencing any problems with your machine, click on the "update verification information" option.

For the mfc30.dll do a Find>Files or folders to see how many copies are on your system. Mine has only one copy and it is located in the C:\Windows\System folder. If you find more than one copy of this file check their version numbers and sizes against the DLL Help Database, rename the oldest one mfc30.old. If you experience problems, rename with the correct extension and rename the other file .old.

See this site for more information on how to make SFC work for you, instead of turning your hair grey!

I download music and never have problems with MP3 files when I use torrents but whenever I download music off of this free mixtape hosting website http://datpiff.com they are always corrupted, the website has a great reputation and a wide selection of music but they are just bad files or something...
They always play fine through my computer but refuse to play off my ipod after transfering. Also, whenver I load them through media programs, they are just recognized as blank names with their file size, they should be loaded like every other song displaying whatever the song name is and song length.
If anyone could look into this, that would be awesome, it's driving me crazy trying to figure out why they are just bad files. Or a quicker solution for anyone helping would be if you knew of anyway to uncorrupt an MP3 file, or if that's possible. I've googled it but don't exactly trust the websites offering so called "MP3 Repair Tools".
Thank you in advance to anyone who wants to help.

A:Corrupt MP3 Files

Could this be some form of digital rights protection ?  In other words you can play it on what you download it to, but not transfer it to another medium. One way to test this would be to copy a couple of these MP3s onto a memory stick and see if you can get them to play on another computer or transfer them to someone else's ipod. That would also eliminate the question of a problem with your ipod.
I could think of some ways around this problem, but that would get me into trouble with the moderators and I like this site !
Good luck,
Chris Cosgrove
