Solved: Yahoo email unable to insert address from address book

Q: Solved: Yahoo email unable to insert address from address book

I have been unable to insert an address from my Yahoo email address book for some time now and I have decided to ask for help.

All I am doing is opening Yahoo mail and trying to compose a new email to send to someone who is already in my contacts. When I click "to:" or "insert address" my address book shows up. But when I place a check mark and try to "insert checked contacts" I go to this address on a blank page: http://us.mc1612.mail.yahoo.com/mc/kioskHandler

I see that this has been asked before but no one had replied and I can't find the answer doing a search.

Can anyone help?

I have Vista Home Premium 32 using Firefox. The version is the latest version of Firefox but this has happened in many previous versions of Firefox. (I was lazy [or in a hurry] and just typed in the address of the entity to which I was communicating as a work around.)

Preferred Solution: Solved: Yahoo email unable to insert address from address book

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Solved: Yahoo email unable to insert address from address book

Concerning my post above: I turned on my older XP computer and I had no problem with inserting an address from the Yahoo! address book.

I compared all my settings in both computers and noticed that I had different settings relating to how pop-ups are handled. XP reminded me that the address book takes the form of a pop-up. On my Vista I had pop-ups opening up (?) in a webpage. That is the page which came up blank. After I have corrected the settings, I no longer have a problem.

I am using Outlook 2003 and run Windows XP.

When I create a new message I begin typing the name of the recipient and I would like it to match up with an address I have in my Outlook contact list. However, it does not read from there. It only seems to look at addresses that I have already sent to in the past. How can I get it to read from the address book? If I click on "TO" or "CC" it brings up another window with a list of addresses from my contact list. From there I can have it pull from the list. I would like to be able to do it withot the extra step.

That is how autocomplete works, from used addresses stored in the NK2 file.

ProblemYAHOO address book pops "up" beneath the current window, when I click on "To:", while writing mail. I then have to click on its icon on the bottom bar to use it.BackgroundI've been using YAHOO for years. The address book has always popped up on top -- which makes perfect sense. The only reason to call it is to use it. Of course, you have to see it to use it.I just switched to IE 7 and have had trouble getting my pop-up management back where it should be. I reset settings in Pop-up Blocker (yes, I found that) ... then thought my google bar installation (also blocks pop-ups) might have been screwed up when IE 7 was installed (I didn't have to reinstall Google tool bar). But well .... kind of looks like maybe rebooting after resetting Pop-up Blocker did the trick for many of my problems; Right now except for one that I know of.

A:Yahoo Email Address Book Ie 7

I'm pretty sure that this is one of those things that is really easy if you know what the trick is. I think I fixed it once before, a few years ago. I simply set something somewhere or something. But I don't remember exactly.

I remember finding the answer using a google search. I got lucky and found it on the first page. All attempts to do the same thing this time have failed.

Some malware has, AGAIN, targeted Yahoo! address book.
SOME Yahoo mail users have discovered that some to all of their Yahoo contacts have received an email message from said Yahoo user.

Symantec's 2006 report of a similar problem.

I do not know how the current malware works, so I cannot provide advice as to that which you should / should not do, other than , certainly be cautious of any email message you receive from a Yahoo account, PARTICULARLY your own account.

Best of success.

In the past I've maintained my address book using the built-in Address Book utility that came with Windows. Once each year, I would import my Address Book (.WAB) file into Outlook 2003/XP. (I don't use Outlook for email.) Then I would use the Mail Merge feature in Word 2003/XP to make and print address labels on standard Avery label sheets to simplify address of my Christmas cards.

Since I'm now using Windows 7, and the familiar Address Book utility is no longer available, how can I print my address labels? I have both Windows Address Book (.WAB) and Comma-Separated Values (.CSV) files that contain my address book data. So, I guess I need to know two things:
Which program or utility (preferably free) can I use to print my address labels.
How do I import my address data into that program?

If it helps, I am already a user of Gmail and Google Drive. Thanks.

A:Solved: Address Label Printing without Windows Address Book

Hi Jim,
Assuming you still have Microsoft Office (any version) you can use the Word mail merge feature and use your .csv file as your data source - no other programs necessary. What version of Office are you using?

A month ago our Yahoo mail account began emailing all our contacts in our address book. The emails were showing up in our sent items folder. We removed all our contacts from the Yahoo address book. We ran all the scans we could: Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, Hijack This, etc. as well as full scan on Norton without anything found. We recently created a new Yahoo mail account and added a few fake addresses to our contact list to see if anything popped back as undeliverable -- nothing did for weeks. At that point we felt that the new account was probably safe and copied all our previous contacts into the new account. Yikes, today it began trying to send emails to 20+ people again (I only saw them because they wound up in our drafts folder somehow). Please help, I think this computer has a hidden virus or bot or malware. Any help greatly appreciated.

A:Hacked Yahoo Mail account address book

On 12/20, I received an email from a co-worker with my first name in the subject, and the body that read, "hi Joe check this out http:// msn . msnbc . msnbc-news5 . com / jobs /" (spaced added to prevent recurrence). I had not heard from this person in a long time, so it was unusual to get this from them out of the blue. Second clue was the brevity of the email. I suspected it was spam so I inspected the link and mistakenly identified the domain as msnbc, a legitimate website. However, the real domain is the first string before the top level domain, ".com", and that is "msnbc-news5". Anyone could have registered that. I hovered my mouse over the link and checked the actual link in the browser frame to make sure that the link wasn't masked, and it was not. I then thought, I have the latest Chrome and McAfee SiteAdvisor, if there is malicious software, they will protect me, and I clicked the link. The destination website was a work from home scam, I thought it was not legitimate after all and immediately closed that browser tab. Without my knowledge the cross site script (XSS) started running, and from this point on my browser was sending 7 emails a minute to everyone in my contact list. This went on for 30 minutes. It was possibly shutdown when Yahoo started demanding human verification on each email. Or it may have been when I started receiving Failure Notices in my inbox as the script sent emails to bad email addresses. I checked my sent fol... Read more

My daughter wants to change her hotmail account to a yahoo email account. Is there a way she can transport her hotmail "contacts" into her yahoo email address book?

A:transport hotmail contacts to yahoo address book?

I don't know of an easier way, someone else might.

Start a new message, click the To: button.
Add all the Contacts to the To: window.
Select all the Contacts in the To: window and Cut them, Paste the Contacts in the body of the message.

The Contacts would then appear as:
[email protected],[email protected],[email protected] etc.

The Contacts can then be edited to appear on their own line by clicking Enter at each comma and removing the comma before sending the message so they look like this:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
Send the message to the new Yahoo account.

She might be able to use Quickbuilder for the Yahoo Address Book to add the addresses.
It did not work all that well for me.

I have looked it over several ways, and there just does not seem to be an easy way to share the Hotmail Contacts with another messaging program.
Hopefully, as I said earlier, someone else has a better way.

One day, a month ago, Norton was not updating properly. Upon the next boot-up windows would not start and I was forced to restart in safe mode with a system restore. This was successful but Norton Security Suite was still not updating properly.
Since then, on a few occasions, I have attempted to uninstall Norton without success thru the program uninstaler. Norton is unresponsive. I even got the Norton rep. to do a remote deletion of all registry files of Norton. But they all returned after the reboot of my PC because windows would not open and I had to start-up thru system restore.
Since then my yahoo email been hacked and spam sent to the contacts of my address book.
I know I got something but I don't know what.. Can anyone take a stab at what I might need to do?

My Great-Uncle has Windows 98se. He uses the newest Netscape and recently clean out his inbox using the Netscape email program. For one reason or another he had un-installed the email client and now he doesn't have any access to his emails or address book. I know nothing about Netscape because I haven't used it in like, years.

Is there anyway to obtain the emails or the address book from the Netscape email application after it is un-installed?

I thought this might be malware but I had a scan done on this site ( http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...p;#entry1015729 ) and logs look clean. Running XP, Spybot Search and Destroy, and AvAst Antivirus... with Opera 9.62 and IE7 anytime I go to Yahoo mail and try to sign out, I can't. It brings me to www.yahoo.com, then if I click on their "mail icon" I am brought right back to my mailbox. Also, when I try to attach a file, when I click "attach" I am directed to www.yahoo.com and can never attach. Finally, when I click on "insert address" while composing mail, I am brought to the signin/password page. None of this happens with Gmail, none of this happens with these accounts on other computers. I think it is cookies/firewall? related but I am no expert. Can anyone help? Thanks!Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

On two separate occasions my Yahoo! Mail Address Book has been hijacked and spam was sent to all the contacts in the address book using my email address as the sender. Each time this happens I have to recreate my address book using the false email, as once the spam has been sent, my address book is empty. I have changed my Yahoo password and run all the preliminary fixes suggested at 'Preparation Guide for use before posting a HijackThis Log'. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm not really a computer techie kinda guy. I build racing cars for a living and this is driving me nuts...

I have two computers one with XP and the other with Windows 7 and run Explorer 8 on both and have this same problem with both and I login with administrator rights. I?m almost sure that it is an Explorer setting problem that changed due to Microsoft updates in the last month or so, I didn?t have this problem previously.

I use gmail as my email service and when I "compose a message" and click the to: link it does not open my contact list (address book). If I go to Explorer/tools/internet options/advanced/reset and reset to Explorer defaults and then restart Explorer my contact list will then open. The problem is solved until the PC?s are shut down and then powered on again the next day and have to go through the same process again.

Hi guys, my sis wants to know if she can block e-mails from anyone who is not in her address book. I thought it was possible but have been unable to find the solution (yet) but she only asked me an hour ago and I was busy at the time, so I thought where better to find the solution (if there is one)than here.
She is using Windows Xp and as it was preloaded on her machine I would say she has Outlook Express V.5 or above. Sorry can't say which version of outlook Express she has as she had to go out so I couldn't interrogate her anymore.

Help me out guys please, I'm the older brother so I have to know all (if you know what I mean) so I can get some peace.

My hard drive crashed and I have lost a bunch of email and address book contacts that were not backed up. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on a Quad-core machine with 8G of RAM. I am running Microsoft Office 2003 and I need to retrieve my email and contacts from Outlook. My hard drive is not completely dead. I can try to boot from it, however, it immediately goes into Repair System mode. I have tried numerous times to do a System Restore, but it never succeeds. I continually get the message that "Windows cannot repair this disk automatically". I have tried to boot from the DVD and repair the damaged files, but it just goes into the same Repair System mode, and I get the same message. I also received the following- Problem Signature: Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385 " 02: 6.1.7600.16385 " 03: unknown " 04: 21200766 " 05: AutoFailover " 06: 25 " 07: NoBootFailure OS Version: 6.1.7600. Locale ID: 1033 I also ran chkdsk /R from the command prompt, but it did not fix any boot problems. I can, however, connect the hard drive as a second drive in the unit (after installing Windows 7 Ultimate on another hard drive) and connect to it and read the data on the drive. I have been able to retrieve all of my data (files, pictures, music, videos, etc.) except for the Outlook data. When I click on Outlook on the damaged drive, I get a message about installing the program. Of course, the program is ... Read more

Last night I sent a message out to one of the Group lists I have set up in Outlook Express. It was a message intended for that one group, but apparently everyone in my Address Book rcvd. the message. I realized this when I started getting failed delivery messages from some addresses not on the intended list.

They came back in pairs from each failed delivery.

I have the 2004 edition of Norton AntiVirus on my computer so I hope a virus did not cause the problem. Another mystery is I received two emails at my work address with the two different subject lines that I had delivered the email with (I only sent one email to my office).

So somehow everyone on my Address book got a message that I only sent to rcpnts. of the one list. Anyone have any ideas how?
