Preferred Solution: Blue screen appears when playing videos with win 7

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

My Toshiba laptop windows7 64bit (Model name: satelitte C660-249 Part No.: PSC1GE) always gets a blue screen when playing i'm playing movies or when watching video's on youtube.
I have already reinstalled my Laptop by booting Windows. In Factory
I also have all the latest Adobe installed on it and even installed the latest video drivers from the AMD website.

I'm sick of it.

Yours Sincerely,
Parel Singh

A:Laptop is getting blue screen playing videos

A stop 0xED is not anything related to the issue being revealed in the third screenshot.

As per the third screenshot, it is a GPU/display driver issue, and to debug it, we need the information as per the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

But the screenshots of the BSOD indicates to an unmountable boot volume. Usually users cannot use the computer normally after that BSOD, but it appears that you can? So you need to post a screenshot of your disc management window.
Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image

After seeing those info, we may proceed with the issue.

Here are my specs.. I5-750..8 GB Ram..Windows 7 64 Bit..Radeon 5850 1 GB Ram...
I do not have any trouble playing 3D Games..Play hours of Black Ops/Bad Company 2 with no issues. I am getting crashes when playing Youtube videos..Blue Screen of death..dramatic..sometimes the video just stops..However, it has totally crashed my system a couple of times..The system had to do a "dump" I wish I had time to get the error code...I will take a cell phone pic of it next time it happens..I will be prepared..
I don't have any problems with any other kind of videos i.e. DVDs or HD Video files.

Is there a software fix for this? Or does the card have to be RMAed?
I only got it two weeks ago. Any assistance is appreciated..

Welcome to Seven Forums
If you would please take the time to fill in your system specs here

It will make it easier for members to just check the My System Specs in the lower left hand corner of every post instead of having to go to the first one.
You can use one of these programs to find them all |MG| HWiNFO32 3.65 Download or Speccy - Download

Next you'll need to use this tutorial to post your dump files so the BSOD team can better serve you.
http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

You can also run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

And Run a hardware Diagnostic (memory and Hard drive)by following this link Hardware Diagnostic !! ? Captain Debugger

Unfortunately I'm not all that familiar with ATI/AMD cards so I don't know all the options available in Catalyst Control Center. stormy13 would be a member to contact about that he's very good with ATI cards among other things.

Dear Administrators,

I am facing a peculiar problem. A couple of days ago, I was listening to some old youtube playlists on my Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop that I had created long back. Suddenly, the screen went blue and displayed the message - fatal hardware error; contact manufacturer. It did not allow me to do anything else.

Luckily, I forced a re-boot and was able to view my desktop again. But, I am really scared after this experience. My hunch is that there might be some viruses or malwares that might be the source of such problems. Or it could be that I have some fixable problem in playing media files on a continuous basis.

I would like you to advise me to get my machine checked for probable causes of such messages. I want to follow your recommended steps.

Thanks,
Zooroopa

A:Blue Screen indicating fatal hardware error on playing youtube videos

Hello, Zooroopa.

It's more likely this is/was a hardware issue or a possible driver conflict which has already been resolved, but for malware removal assistance, which is what this forum is for, we would need to see analysis logs as indicated in the sticky topic at the top of this forum.

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help

After running through all the steps, please post the requested logs.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within three days this thread will be closed.

As the title states, I receive blue screens when playing a game or watching movies, or even watching videos on youtube.

I've had this problem for about a year, which is when I got the computer, and had people try to help me fix it before on the sevenforums, but their response was that the reason I was getting them was because apparently I had a pirated windows 7. I made sure to fix that and upgraded to windows 8, but the blue screens have followed me over to the new system and seem to be occurring more frequently than usual.

ntoskrnl.exe seems to be the one causing all the issues, with strings like;

BAD_POOL_CALLER
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL

As far as I know, all of my drivers are up to date.

A:Blue Screens when either playing games or streaming videos

Remove spdt.sys using its utility. Disable Nvidia Streaming Kernel service within services.msc. Enable Driver Verifier: Driver Verifier - BSOD related - Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 & Vista - Sysnative Forums
Run Memtest86+ for eight passes: RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Help Forums
and since there are GPU symptoms run FurMark Stress Test: Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark - Windows 7 Help Forums
Set the temperature alarm to go off at 90 degrees. Watch for artifacts on the screen. If you see any anomalies stop the test. Keep an eye on the temperatures, be very carefull as this can damage your video card.
Run for cca 30 minutes.
Fill in your system specs.

A BSoD issue...

PIII Intel 82845 motherboard PC with Win XP SP2.
I had previously installed Vista Pack (thus replacing the Logon UI interface, other start menu etc) However that was removed half a yr back. It didn't quite uninstall Logon Ui. However, that did not pose any problem, as the XP without traces of Vista Pack continue to Boot up (although Logon screen splashed Vista type Logon Ui)..

That was to prepare you for history of this XP installation.

then, few days back, I used a exhaustive program called TuneUp utilities for XP 2008 edition. Somehow, I got hooked into changing Display setting etc. No probs. However, on few tries of changes, I happened to remember I clicked on the Configuration option of , 'Switch to Default Windows XP Logon UI' or something that prompted that TuneUp wants to bypass the VistaLOGON Ui.

After that setup change, the XP goes to boot process. On appearance of Logon screen, which somehow, it still props up old Vista Ui logon, a BOSD appears. STO P error. "Your system has been shutdown to prevent damage to registry."

I tried all options in Safe Mode, F8 button. I also used the "Don't shutdown on bluescreen option" That's how I managed to note down the Registry thing.

It also prompts me to disable 'Shadowing' option of RAM in BIOS. Although I doubt, cause the XP was working fine without any bios change.

I do not hv any backup disk or a bootable XP disk. Though I am having a Win95 partition and can boot to... Read more

Can it be run from DOS bootup without HIMEM access. Basic DOS? Or is it recommended to boot up from XP bootable CD and run expand .exe to unpack LogonUI.ex_ or just copying internet dowloaded LogonUI.exe for SP2?

For the past couple of months my computer will randomly go to a blue screen which states:

A driver has overrun a stack-based buffer. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this machine.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such a caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, pres F8 to select Advances Startup Options, and then select safe mode.

my laptop (hp i7 2.4GHz,64 bit,4gb ram, amd radeon HD 7500/7600m sereies) has been freezing during video playback. The audio stutters or runs out of sync with the video, the video becomes grainy and jumping 3 or 4 seconds at a time. Just generally struggles to cope with the file. It varies as to how long this takes to kick in. Some times it's half way through a film, sometimes within a few seconds. Once it starts everything is painfully slow and I have to reboot. I've also noticed it takes much longer to reboot sometimes. It only starts though when I run video files, this is what seems to start it. Any help gratefully received.

Hi,All of a sudden a Blue screen opens every 5 minutes and my PC getting shut down within 3 secs since the screen appeared. I cannot read anything on the screen because of the 3 sec duration. But there is a countdown kinda thing on the screen to the right bottom, also it has so numbers like 0000001200, and some phrases like 'dumb'Can you please help to sort it out? I thought of using system restore, but unfortunately I didn't create one before. Please advise.OS: Windows 7Intel Core 2 DuoThanks a lot!

A:Blue Screen Appears - PC Gets Shut down

First can you get into Safe Mode at all ??Are you able to get any of the minidumps to examine? You may require a clean USB drive and a computer to transfer from -?If this can not be done from the problem computer, you may need to copy the Minidump folder to a flashdrive and then transfer to another working machine to zip them up and attach the zip file to a post. Please zip up the minidumps and attach the resultant zip file to your next reply so I can have a closer look. There's a chance I might get some more useful info from them.?Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump <<< folder?Click on the first minidump file to select it.?Hold down the <Shift> key, and click on the last minidump file to select all of the files.?Release the <Shift> key.?Now, right-click on any one of the selected files > Send to ... > Compressed (zipped) Folder. The zip file will be located in the same place (the Minidump folder).?Attach the zip file to your next reply. When you click on Add Reply, you will see the facility to attach a file just below the box where you type your message.Thank You -

Video card, memory, power supply, or cpu fan. Transcend memory has a big marketing push to create a "name", but is barely so-so in our experience. Check the latency and timings. You might want to run the free MemTest86 for four hours or 7 passes to rule out memory as an issue.
Then tell us about your video graphics. That is the most common area for trouble. Which card do you have? Is it PCI-E

For no specific reason (I don't do anything out of the ordinary to trigger it) the blue screen appears saying it needs to shut down my computer to prevent harm etc.

The error screen changes slightly each time, it always begins with
Stop: 0x0000008e (0xC0000005, 0x8059C18D, 0xF89F5CAC, 0x00000000)

The underlined is the error that keeps changing, but it always seems to end with CAC. Sometimes when it restarts a disk chack starts up for Drive D: but it never finds any probIems. I haven't added or installed anything different lately, so I have no idea why this all of a sudden decided to start happening. Any ideas?

Running Windows XP Service Pack 2

Edit - I just removed my external hard drive and it seems to last longer untill the blue screen appears, but it still comes. And still just as annoying.

Hi all
so I saw this topic : My Blue Screen problem and i thought i had a similar problem but still couldnt solve it. I have vista ultimate 64bit.
so since yesterday im having blue screen all the times, in the begining i could log into windows but after a few seconds/minutes the bs appeared. I don't have any new hardware installed and any new software, but i did know that my NOD32 antivirus has auto updates, i tried to cancel the autostart of NOD in msconfig, restarted but still it appeared so i knew it's something with this. (note that till I uninstall the nod I couldnt enter safe mode- windows loaded the files but never entered safe mode), after a few tries i could uninstall NOD from windows (it turned into bs by the end of the uninstalling) after this I could enter safe mode, so i deleted the remaining folder of NOD thinking that was the problem.
then, i booted up windows normally, then after a few minutes again a bluescreen. i then enter safe mode again and tried system restore to 4/12, after that i couldnt log into windows, always bs, i tried every windows option after pressing F8 before windows start but still i get the windows loading screen then turns into bs.
maybe i did a mistake doing the system restore because it restored it to a point when the NOD still exist then the problem returned...i dont know.
i also tried my windows cd to do a repair and vista recovery cd I downloaded, on both cases I booted from the cd, i got the "windows loading files" screen ... Read more

For years now I have had this problem. Th is morning I had spent some considerable time creating multiple slideshows. While DVD PixPlay was processing the slideshows prior to burning them (which takes hours) I was preparing a cover for the DVD box. This also took time. Without warning the screen went blue and I was informed that Windows was repairing some problem. This only took a matter of seconds then the computer rebooted and I lost all my work. This happens every so often. Why? My computer is quite old. I use Windows 8.

Hi,

My computer has been working fine for months, this last week it has been on for a few days as it runs as the server in my house with the adsl coming into it. Last night I turned the comp off to attach my parellel port zip drive, when I turned it back on windows xp boots upto the point of the scrolling bar then the screen flashes up blue and the computer resets.

when it tries to boot again it gives me the option of normal, last known good config or safe mode. Normal and last known good config result in the same blue screen and safe mode hangs when loading mup.sys

The blue screen isn;t up long enough to find out whats happened. The computer POSTs fine and I can still access the hard drive if I use a win 98 floppy boot disk.

Its really starting to get annoying as I have some serious deadlines this week and a lot of important info on the comp. Why does this happen just before I decide to back stuff onto CD and not after....??

My system is a duron 1300
256mb ddr
forgotton the motherboard make
onboard sound, vga and network
40gb harddrive
cdrw drive

any help is welcomed

A:winXP won't boot, blue screen appears

Try running the repair off your original Windows CD. Boot from the CD & run the set-up XP, select your XP partition, select R to repair let it do it?s stuff it should get you going.

If as you say you can boot from a windows 98 disk, can you see your data if so you must be running a Fat32 partition not an NTFS partition. if this is correct it may be an idea to copy off any important data first.

I have given my sister my old Averatec laptop that has Windows XP on it. While she is using it, eventually a blue screen appears, which is the precursor to it restarting suddenly. It happens so fast that we cannot read what the blue screen says. After it starts back up, we get a microsoft report saying a serious error has occured. This might not help, but I'll list it just in case. The error signature is:

BCCode: 7f BCP1: 00000000 BCP2: 00000000 BCP3: 00000000
BCP4: 00000000 OSVer: 5_1_2600 SP: 2_0 Product 768_1

And the error report contents list the two files:

\Temp\WERa375.dir00\Mini112407-06.dmp
\Temp\WERa375.dir00\sysdata.xml

I don't know if this is related or not, but the laptop has lately not been able to run on battery either. It will only run when plugged in. If unplugged, it shuts down immediately.

Is this a virus? If so, is there any hope without reformatting? I accidentally uninstalled the program that contained the OS files when I first got the computer.

We greatly appreciate any help!

hi friends :when I turn on computer a blue screen appears!! why??? what should I do?

A:when I turn on computer a blue screen appears!!

Lets see if Safe Mode works:

Booting into Safe Mode Win 8/10

1. Start your computer
2. When it starts booting, force shut-down

Keep doing this until you see this screen

Now, let it finish, and if it says it is unable to repair your computer, like this:

Click Advanced Options > Start-Up Settings > Restart
When this screen comes up, press f5 to go to Safe Mode

Let us know if you can go to Safe Mode without any problems

Hey guys,

My computer is randomly doing some wierd crashings and nothing I do seems to sort it out so I have backed up all my files on an external and decided to rebuild. Unfortunately my computer is being an *** in this field too, for when I insert the windows install disk and wait for the "Starting up Windows" caption at the bottom, it comes up with a blue screen of death(which is incredibly infuriating by the way). The blue screen itself says that I should CHKDSK /F and a code: 0x0000007B. I have run a "chkdsk" but the /F seems to elude me. I would prefer to do this in the quickest and simplest way possible but im not sure whether deleting the C drive and starting from there will solve the problem.

Can you guys give me some advice on what to do here?

Thank you in advance

The problem seems to be caused by the following file setupdd.sys

This is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart you computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps.

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation ask you hardware or software manufacture for any windows up dates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press f8 to select advance startup options, and then select safe mode

I have had this happen to me in quite a few Pentiom III computers. The only way I could resolve it was to go int the BIOS and disable ROM shadowing. One PIII I loaded succesfully after putting an older PCI video card into it then putting the newer AGP video card back in after getting XP up and running with SP2.

Have you got this fixed yet ?.
If not, go to C > Windows > Minidump, zip up your files and upload them with your next post, you may need to copy them to your desktop first.

Hello, my windows 7 os laptop is giving me the blue screen and stating it must shut down. it gathers data, shuts down and will continue this loop unless I start in safe mode. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

A:Blue screen at start up, just after logo appears....

Hello PetrMcG,1.)  What was new right before the blue screens started (software, hardware, malware, error messages)?2.)  Via Safe Mode with Networking, please gather any minidump files that may be present:

Please create a new folder on your Desktop (suggestion: Minidumps)
Next, navigate to the the Windows Minidump folder.
C:\Windows\Minidump <==  this folder.

Note that the first 6 digits of each minidump file indicate the date ( 032913-10935-01.dmp).
Highlight the 10 most recent minidump files, then copy and paste them (don't drag) into the Desktop Minidumps folder.
Right mouse click on the Minidumps folder, and select Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder.
A Compressed (zipped) folder will now appear on the Desktop.

When you are ready to Reply,  click on .
Please attach the Compressed (zipped) folder to your next post by browsing to the location of the zipped Minidump folder.Note: The Bleeping Computer Forum has a 512K upload limit on file size.
To Manage Your Attachments (free up space), click on your username at top right of forum page | Select My Settings | click Manage Attachments | delete old attachments to make room for newer ones.

I am using media center 11 on a vista 64 system. When I play mp4 videos, strange things happen. When it is in full screen mode and the controls (volume, stop, start buttons) are displayed, everything works fine. When the controls hide, it looks like the video frame playing at that moment is captured. From that point on, the video alternates between correct video and the captured frame. It appeares like a flickering or flashing. If I move the mouse and the controls appear, the video goes back to normal. The sound is always correct.

Ok guys, I just performed a format on my desktop Pc.
I have installed correctly all the required drivers, my network works fine
and generally I don't have any problem.

Now, when I try to play a video file, I watch a green screen instead of the video.
I tried to play all the video file types(mpeg, avi, vob, mpeg-4...etc.) and no results..Only The Green Screen !
I have almost all the media players in my system(Windows Media Player, winamp, Quicktime, Realplayer, NeroShowtime..) and in all I have the Green Screen.
Audio works fine, I hear the music of the video but I watch green screen

What do you think is the problem in my situation ?
Thanks.

Hi

I think its a codec issue, you may have had the correct codecs before you reinstalled.

What codecs have you installed since you put the OS on, the most popular is Divx and Xvid, do a google on them to find the websites.

Hi, I am running Windows XP. I just removed an abundance of viruses and spyware from the machine. Before removal one problem was the desktop had become white and the options for backgrounds in the display properties window were greyed out.

I have used many spyware utilities to remove all (or what seems to be all) of the spyware / viruses. Including scanning the pc with Avast and Symantec. I've also deleted all the registry items listed in other forums, including the instance of wallpaper.

What is happenin now is when I boot up the machine the desktop background appears but then goes away and I get a plain blue screens with the icons. The background is a standard windows background. I am hijack this log file. Thanks for any help.

Hi, I'd be very grateful to you if you could help me fix my laptop.
In the middle of doing my work at the computer, the Windows XP keeps shutting down and I get this annoying blue screen background with white letters recommending among a several suggestions that I should try restarting my machine in Safe Mode and also consider removing some of my hardware or software that I have installed.
Having already removed some of the programs, this unfortunately hasn't prevented the Windows XP from its further continuous shutting down. First, it was shutting down every 1 to 2 hours, and now it's got even worse shutting down every 15 to 30 minutes on a regular basis.
My friend has asked me to reboot the system. But I don't want to lose all my software and files that I have all over my laptop, like in My Desktop, My Documents, Bookmarks, etc.
If I really have to reboot it, my question is How to save all my programs and files from losing or deletion?
Is there any other solution to this problem rather than rebooting the system?

Many thanks!!
