I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:router user and pass word

why do you not have the user name and password of the router - if its still default, it will be in the manual

otherwise you may need to reset to factory defaults - probably a button on the back, BUT BEFORE you do that make sure you know all the setups - if ADSL then you will need the username and password of your account with the ISP

If we are talking about the Windows logon and not the Dialup Networking log on.....

To eliminate the password dialog entirely, since you are the only user, try going to the Control Panel > Network applet and change your logon option from whatever it is (Client for Microsoft Networks or Family logon) to Windows logon.

When you reboot if you get a password prompt, just hit enter and that should be the last of it.

If necessary to a find Files for *.pwl and delete them all.

Don't go for a password. Use the PIN option That's just what you need and it's really a great thing as well.

Here's what I'm trying to do

in short: win7client is trying to access win7server without any user/pass prompt.

in details:
On my win7client, I have AutoUnattend.xml that has firstlogon.cmd stored in \\win7server\share\firstlogon.cmd. Previously, win7server was winxpserver. There were no login prompts. After migrating to win7server, things became rather difficult.

I have done the following:
1. "[o] Turn off password protected sharing"
2. net user Guest /active:yes (on both win7client and win7server for testing sakes)
3. tried various combination under "control panel\network and sharing center\advanced sharing settings" on both win7client and win7server

I can log in as guest on win7server, by entering "Guest". Closest I get to what I need accomplished is entering ' net use \\win7server /user:Guest "" '. parameter /persistent:yes does not work in this case. I will need to script this to startup to do what I need. It is ugly and I have not tested and I don't like it. There has to be a better way.

I've considered using a powershell script to join win7server homegroup but I can't find any such scripts.

Any suggestions?

I've got an smc Barricade smcwbr14s-n4 router from my cable provider. It was the primary wireless router for cable security system, they "upraded" to a netgear N wireless. They told us in training that we (customers/employees) would never be able to log into the router to find the encryption key in order to use it for wireless; however, I logged into the Netgear w/ the default : admin, password, and got the key and have 2 devices on this wireless network. Sometime since I installed it, the alarm company (I assume) logged into this device and changed the login user/password, so that I can't access it again to get the key off it, although they didn't change the key, my 2 devices are still connected.

My issue: I have this Barricade sitting in a box, I have a 3rd cable modem at my house, and wanted to use this SMC as an additional wireless network. I can't log into it to change any settings; I'm locked out. The default according to the manufacturer is : admin, smcadmin; which does not work. Is there any other way to log into this thing? I have factory defaulted it w/ the reset button held for 1 min 3 or 4 times, and this does nothing for me. I really don't want this thing bricked here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

All,
I received a solution from "jimmy The Hand" which enables me to update the source of the linking file on an everday basis.

My question was related to a new linked source excel sheet everyday for my master target excel sheet and the naming convention for the source is "mmddyy_source.xls" so for
25th July 2007 - 072507_source.xls
26th July 2007 - 072607_source.xls
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Solution Code was:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Dim Rng As Range, c As Range, NewDate As String
Dim WS As Worksheet, Pos As Long

Set WS = ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Sheet1")
Set Rng = WS.Range("C1", WS.Range("C" & WS.Rows.Count).End(xlUp))
NewDate = Format(CStr(Date), "mmddyy")

For Each c In Rng.Cells
Pos = InStr(LCase(c.Formula), "_source.xls]sheet2")
If Pos > 0 Then
c.Formula = Replace(c.Formula, Mid(c.Formula, Pos - 6, 6), NewDate)
End If
Next
End Sub
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is it possible for me to have a text box - where the user inputs a date and can I pass the date to the function above? This way i dont need to worry about weekends and public holidays and gives the user the flexibility to run the script for a previous day also and not just the current.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Regards,
J

A:Pass Date value from user to function

Change the line NewDate = Format(CStr(Date), "mmddyy") to

NewDate = inputbox("Enter Date in MMDDYY format")

Another better option in my opinion is to designate an unused cell on the sheet to hold the date that the code will use. When the macro is run it would read from that cell to determine the date to use when updating the links.

Rollin

Hi there
The idea of passwords has got a bit ridiculous these days - and with the modern power of computers and decent algorithms some can be easily cracked.

Why can't we simply type in a sentence as a password - easier to remember - can type in a huge number of languages and much harder to crack.

The latest piece of rediculousness is that there's a client I'm doing a gig for - you get an automatic generated password - but it's so ridiculous and unmemoriable that you have to write it down in order to log on again !!!!

Biological ideas like thumbprints etc are no good anyway - the criminals would just cut your finger tip off or something.

With ATM's instead of a Pin number the machine could ask YOU a question based on your pass phrase such as "last football match attended - enter 1 if Liverpool, 2 if Man utd 3 if Chelsea" . The logic in the ATM could easily be modified to spit this out on the screen.

The whole password / logon sequence could be made DYNAMIC with questions and answers rendering successful hacking almost impossible -- certainly "Brute Force" attacks could be basically eliminated.

Cheers
jimbo

Hello All,

I got this Dell Latitude D610 running Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3, I cant log into it, when it boots up it trys to join a domain (no user specified).

I booted it in safe mode, and tried to log on locally but it does not accept Administrator w/ (blank pass).

I ran a password cracking utility called Ophcrack 3.3 from a live bootable disc. This did not show the Administrator user even being there, it did however show 6 accounts in total. Some of which I'm sure aren't accessible.

Accounts:

1)itsetup
2)help assistant
3)sysdn
4)tseug
5)Support_882833
6)ASP

Opcrack was not able to crack these passwords it displayed "not found". for the account tseug it showed the password being empty. So I tried to log on with the account tseug and a pop said "the account is currently disabled"

I was able to view the file system through the bootable live cd, there was 3 partitions and one was a windows partition and in it's Users Directory I could see several users
including the Administrator account.

So, if anyone could provide a workaround or a suggestion I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

*side note* the computer is from a old man that works next door to me, he uses it for work but complains that he cant do anything with it when he takes it home, he would like to go on the internet and use some programs at home.
