Flex 5 (15") 81CA spec sheet RAM data rate doesn't match parts spec

Q: Flex 5 (15") 81CA spec sheet RAM data rate doesn't match parts spec

So the Flex 5 (15") 81CA's spec sheet says it uses DDR4-2133 RAM, but the RAM in the machine I received is definitely DDR4-2400. That's good, but I'm just wondering what's going on here. With DDR4-2400 RAM installed, does it actually run at 2400 MHz or 2133 MHz? And if it runs at 2133 by default, is there a way to change that to 2400? Per Intel's official CPU specs the CPU and chipset should support 2400. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Flex 5 (15") 81CA spec sheet RAM data rate doesn't match parts spec

Hi jdrch,

Greetings.

The 81CA does run on 2400 MHz as shown in the general specification sheet, 16GB max / 2133MHz or 2400MHz DDR4, one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket.

Checking on the general category for Flex 5 1570 here shows 80XB models had the 2133MHz and the 81CA had 2400 MHz. The same goes in the parts lookup page using model numbers 81CA here.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Hello there everyone! A newbee in here and also not much a smart *** in the realm of tech so kindly bear with me!

I have recently upgraded to a new laptop of the following specs:

DELL Inspiron, i7, 16GB Ram, 1 Tb HDD, Win 10 (genuine)

from an older laptop with following specs:

HP Pavilion, i3, 4GB Ram, 320GB HDD, Originally Win 7, later updated to Win 10 (genuine)
(Used this bad boy for almost 7 years!)

I still used my older laptop for work purposes until the HDD in it died on me last week for some particular reason. I have a spare SSD (500 GB) that I am thinking to replace the damaged HDD with. Since I am new this, I have a couple of doubts that I hope you lot in here can help me with:

1) Can I clone the HDD in my new laptop to the spare SSD and install the SSD in my older laptop, given the major differences in specs?

2) If the answer to (1) is yes, is there a particular set of steps I need to follow in this case or do I just follow the steps of a basic cloning process?

3) Assuming I could do the above, would I have to reinstall Windows in the older laptop? I still do have the Windows 7 Home product key that was originally installed on my older laptop.

Also do suggest if you think I should avoid the all-in-all idea of cloning and just freshly install Windows on the SSD and later just copy the files I need from my new laptop.

Thanking you in advance to taking the time out to read my post and helping me out!

A:Copy HDD from high spec to SSD in a lower spec system?

You can't clone a 1TB hdd into a 500GB ssd due to size limitation.

It is also illegal to clone one Windows to be used on more than one computer.

You can just replace the dead hdd with your 500GB ssd now and install its original Windows 7 on it if you have the license.

You can pass the data between computer via a network or USB devices but the operation is not cloining. If you clone something it ends up with a mirror image of the original.

A ssd can be used in exactly the same way as a hard drive. It has nothing to do the high spec. In a higher spec PC things move just faster and the fast ssd is therefore put to a better use.

I just got a new laptop as a second computer. It has 1.8ghz processor and a gig of RAM. Everything is so stable, not one error yet. My Playstation emulator plays every game with full smoothing on with it's 32mb graphics card perfectly. DVD's are good quality. Task switching is smooth. Menus pop up instantly.

My PC is a disappointment. Unhappy with its performance from the word go, I upgraded its RAM to 2 gig. 256mb of that is eaten by what appears to be the most unstable graphics card in history. I have Vista on this one. I can't start the thing without an error or two appearing. It runs at a could crash any second state all the time, is constantly loading and more often than not has a display driver error. I need ReadyBoost to make it run at an acceptable state! The latest driver seem to fix one issue and break another (for instance I now have less display crashes but slow as anything graphics performance). It does work well for my music apps as its processor allows for lots of soft synths but its support for ASIO is awful. Do you reckon going down to XP will make it an impressive machine? As for DVD's, they are grainier than a bowl of shredded wheat!

A:Can anyone explain why my low spec laptop out performs my higher spec PC?

What are the exact specs of the PC, I would try a fresh vista install and start again...

Hi everyone, Not sure if this belongs here or not so if its in the wrong place then by all means please correct it for me

anyway I had my comp build just over a year ago but when it was built it was considered to be high end, im not sure if its still considered to be high spec anymore but its not performing the way it should. I dont really play lots of games so im not sure how long the problem has been around for but its been in place for at least a couple months thinking back. heres my specs:

Thermaltake 600W Power Supply
ASUS P5N32-SLI DELUXE Motherboard
Intel Conroe E6600 2.45Ghz CPU
RAM 2 x 1Gb Kingston PC5300 667MHz DDR2RAM

VGA eVGA GeForce 8800GTX 768Mb PCI-E VGA Card (169.25 driver)
Vista Premium
LG 194W 19" Wide LCD Monitor

Ive been getting really weird FPS drops during gameplay. CoD4 for example with start out at 90 but will settle down to 60~ sometimes and dip as low as 30~. Team Fort 2 does the same, but it will dip as low as 20-15fps

I just reformatted and all basic updates have been done. AVG also doesnt detect any viruses. I ran 3D mark Vantage (free trial run) and this is what I got.

http://service.futuremark.com/home.action?resultId=114165&resultType=19

I was gonna update the bios but i couldn't figure out how. If i don't find a solution by monday i'll be taking it back to the shop that built the comp and see if they can... Read more

Anyone like to venture an opinion about what a server in a small LAN of max 6 machines should contain that a decent or hi spec workstation does not have - other than perhaps a larged hard drive?
Any opinions most welcome!

A:Server spec v. hi spec workstation

Hi

I run a domain server, there are 2 hard wired PC's, 4 wireless laptops, and 1 media box.
Its spec is a HP XE310 with 1GHZ CPU and 256 meg of memory, it has been running for over 2 years and has never crashed or failed yet.
Over the time i have added HDD's upto 300GB in size.

I run azureus over night on it and it works fine.

I had a chat with someone on here who recommended Linux or Unix as a server, myself I run Windoze server 2000 but thats a personal choice.

I sincerely hope that the description below is fairly comprehendible.

I am constructing a table in excel of movies with the actors, actresses, director, etc. On the first sheet (named Movie Info), column 4 is an ever growing list of movies. Across row 8 is a list of actors, actresses, directors, etc. Across the row of the title and under the appropriate person who is in that movie I place a check mark (this check mark will eventually become a hyperlink to something like Wikipedia or IMDb). What I would like to do is manually enter the new title. To do this, I am inserting a new row at row 9, just below the people row. Then from something like IMDb, copy and paste a list of the important people on another sheet (sheet 4, named Dummy). At this point I have been trying to write a macro to "read" the person on the Dummy sheet, jump to the Movie Info sheet, find the appropriate person and place a check mark under that name, and when finished insert a new blank line in row 9, preparing for a new entry. This macro would also have to realize that if the person isn't found that it would have to be added at the end of the "people row". At this point I have 163 movies. That's not the problem. The problem is the people list is at column TZ and to scroll manually to find the appropriate person is tedious to say the least.

Can anyone help? I appreciate your thoughts.

Hi, my CPU is i7-8550u and my GPU is MX150. V2.05 of the BIOS (4qcn41ww) works well. However, the big issue is that the fan curve is so high that fans will spin 24/7, even on idle. The laptop is able to overclock/underclock in response to demand needs. Excellent, but too loud. I upgraded to V2.07, which definitely fixed the fan curve problem, especially when "Quiet Mode" is selected in the BIOS. HOWEVER, there is one extreme issue, the clock speed will be fixed to a single speed indefinitely until reboot. The clock speed is not able to dynamically change. This is terrible because it either is fixed to 0.4Ghz (EXTREMELY SLOW) or 1.8Ghz (still slow, bearable, but I shouldn't have to deal with this in my purchase). These clock speeds were provided by Windows Task Manager. The throttle starts at a random time, and doesn't end until the computer is rebooted. After dealing with V2.07, I've reverted to V2.05 (provided by a Lenovo Chat assistant). I'm back to loud fans, but a properly running device. This issue is not heat related, I don't think. I have a CPU temperature reading, and it throttles to 0.4Ghz even at 45C (which is idle). I've attempted to fix this problem, if it may be thermals, by applying an undervolt via Throttlestop. However, the issue persists regardless of it throttlestop is running or not. I've ran an Official Lenovo Hardware Scan, and my computer comes up clean. For a $1000 laptop, I'm really surprised at how shoddy o... Read more

A:new pc spec help.

If you are set on using AMD, then it is pretty good. But, you will be limiting your upgrade path by using socket 939. This socket will be used for budget chips in the future. The current standard for AMD is the AM2 platform, which uses DDR2 instead of regular DDR. The mobos for AM2 are a bit more expensive, but DDR2 memory is a little cheaper than DDR. Also, the AM2 processors are cheaper than the 939's.

Another thing to think about is the new Conroe processors from Intel. The E6300 is faster than most of the AMD line and is less than the processor you selected. Again, the mobos are a bit more expensive, but you get better performance.

15" MATTE screen @ eg 1920x1080
i5 7th gen CPU

Ideally a supplementary graphics card (though maybe an Intel 620 would do - it's for video creation for web projects so needs decent video performance but not excessively so).
Weight/thickness unimportant. Mid-price budget
Can anyone point me towards a suitable machine, if one exists please. The Matte screen is the number one priority.

The problem I am having is that I do not know what brand my power supply is, and how many watts it is. I had it installed awhile ago by a computer store when my old PSU blew out, and they then installed a new PSU along with an auxilliary PSU. They said that my PSU is 1000W. I don't know if they meant 1000W all together, or my main PSU is 1000W. Can someone please suggest to me a way on how to find out what type and how many watts my PSU is. The label that is usually on the side of PSU's is not there. Is there something in the BIOS that can tell me information about my PSU? The reason I want to know all of this is because I want to see if my graphics card is receiving enough power, because of recent issues.

My auxilliary PSU is connected directly to my graphics card:

- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150205

My main PSU is connected to the rest of the components of my PC.

- Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Also, something that is a bit off topic but, for some reason my "Post Count" went from 500 to 200. Does anyone know why this may be?

A:Unsure About PSU Spec's

There is nothing that can tell you the specs of your PSU. The BIOS can tell you what voltages it is putting out but nothing more. You have to see the sticker.

Regarding post count, see here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic94429.html

This is an Acer Aspire 5003WMLi laptop I've installed Win7 on to see if the display would render correctly in which case we'd go ahead and upgrade the RAM. RAM sticks are expensive for this RAM so thought I'd try adding a gig stick to the 518mb which is on there now. Then if owner wants another gig stick he can fork out another $25+ at the time. It runs well enough already w/518 and renders fine with the XP Display driver in Compat Mode that 1500mb may be sufficient.

Crucial Memory Advisor says it's this RAM:

But it won't drill down any deeper than Aspire 5000 series even though there's tons of sub-models.

Trying to match the specs to get a better price for New RAM I find this near match by searching the model number: Rakuten.com - 1GB DDR PC2700 200 pin 333MHz SO-DIMM RAM Notebook Memory for Acer Aspire 5000, 5002, 5003, 5010, 5012, 5014, 5020, 5021, 5022, 5024, 5030, 5033, 5040, 5043, 5044

This one matches more exactly the full model extension for same price but is on eBay: 1GB RAM Memory 4 Acer Aspire 5002LMI 5002LMI XPP 5002WLMI 5003LM 5003WLMI | eBay

Problem is there is some confusion about spec'ing it as explained in http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=118895.0.

For that reason I thought I should have any RAM experts look at the CPUID to see if it can be determined that the problem described above with the density can be resolved so I can order in time for Monday morning shipping. ACERASPIRE-PC.txt

Last year I made a similar upgrade for a friend. It was a 512MB XP desktop and we added 1GB. That made a noticable difference. XP does well in 1.5GBs. We also reinstalled the XP and that gave it another push.

Now I gave her my HP desktop with 3GB and a much faster CPU, an Intel SSD and Windows 7 - she loves it.

About 6 months ago I purchased a really basic all in HP Pavillion machine , I replaced the 256 mem with a 512 I had but thats all. To start with it was ok but a 13 yr old girl is not bothered with anything.

There is now no spyware or virus but everything runs at a snail pace and cpu is normally showing 100%.

I have been 20mins trying to fins systen info and am losing the will to live I must say that I did kick the box in bad temper!

It has onboard everything and I am thinking about keeping the box and replacing the innards.

A:Low spec HP is killing me

Most computers like HP and Dell come loaded with alot of crap. All those icons on the desktop and programs in the start menu will slow down the system alot, especially if you have onboard video. Id go into Add/Remove programs and get rid of everything you dont use and disable anything you dont need in the start menu. Upgrading to a gig of RAM will help too. Hopefully you werent unlucky enough to get a 5400rpm hard drive.

A friends asked me to build him a PC, the build I have no problem with, Im an IT field engineer. The speccing up of the kit itself is a problem, so hopefully you guys could give me a few pointers.

Budget is ?320

Needs:

Core 2 Duo CPU
2GB Ram
200GB or bigger HDD
then the usual ; Case, DVDRW, Graphics, Motherboard.

This unit will NOT be overclocked, needs to be 100% stable.

Intel DP965LT 965 ?70.50

Hi mate

Your specs seem really good but keep in mind that the E2xxx CPUs are not original C2Ds but "Pentium Dual Cores" based on Core architecture. Try the E4xxx series or the cheaper E6320 or E6420.

As for the card...What 40? Pounds,dollars,euros?

Hi

I'm currently choosing my new laptop, and I have a few questions :

1 - I won't be using it for games, however I will be editing photos and viewing DVDs and downloaded videos. Do I need a dedicated graphics card for these, or would an integrated one be fine ?

2 - Assuming the laptop is shipped with Vista, and bearing in mind the usage outlined above, would a memory of 1GB be sufficient, or is 2GB recommended ?

3 - I'll be getting an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Would I notice much difference between, say, a T5450 at 1.66GHz and a T7300 at 2.0GHz ? As I mentioned, I won't be using it for games.

I'm not limited by price, but I do want to make sure I don't over-spec the laptop and pay for stuff I don't need.

Many thanks.

Smart but remember, things change and you never know what demands new applications will make on your system. Also you may change your habits too requiring more storage or a faster processor.

- Can anyone foresee any problem using the following components together? This PC is primarily for heavy multitasking and aimed to be relatively silent.

- I'm opting for the 4850 instead of the usual £50 graphics card that I would normally buy, so that I can play most games on high settings.

- I am not to fussed about HD space on this PC - but I just don't want the HD to limit the overall performance of the PC.

- And is it me, or are the prices of components not dropping as fast as they used to?

A:Server Spec Help

You first need to tell us what kind of usage the servers get. Do you run client-server applications, large databases, file servers, application servers, what? What kind of servers do you now have, and what is the preceived bottleneck?

You may need to do something about the overall network configuration, performance issues aren't necessarily only the servers. You might want to describe the whole network topology to help us better understand the situation.

As far as I know i posses a :

- Intel (R) Pentium (R) CPU G3220 @ 3.00GHz

Since im bad with computers and I want to upgrade it as soon as possible, i came here to ask.
I have a budget of around 180 Swiss Francs ( 178USD as of 1.March.2017 )

- I'd online purchase whatever I get recommended here on digitec.ch ( Swiss Shop but its quicker )

Thanks already in advance!

Hi Looking at the M700 but not sure which spec?I'm a Mac user and the UK proces are now through the roof. I mainly use my iPhone and iPad Pro, I use a Sonology NAS to store all my media files and run my IP camearas. I'm thinking of moving back to a small windows machine for the odd time I want to create a word document or lightly edit a photograph etc the typw of things IOS can't do, manage files. Its main use will be to sync my content using iCloud for windows and access to itunes to manage my media which it played through an Apple TV. Memory I will upgrade to 8Gig minuim and will have windows on a 128Gig SSD. I'm just not sure which processor to go for the base config is currently a good price but I will spend more if required. Any advise from current owners to ensure I buy right first time?I assume I can swap out the processor if required or do faster processors get different cooling motherboard etc? Many Thanks Phil

I bought Spec ops and installed fine. Went to boot it up and two options, 3dfx or software. Tried 3dfx and it informed me I have no 3dfx compatible hardware which is true enough. Tried the other version and a .dll file was missing. I installed the dll file and now when I click to start, it goes black then crashes back to the desktop. Any idea how to get it working?

P.s I also tried 95/98 compatibility mode but that didn't work either.

In our HijackThis! forum, we have a guide for preparation for posting a Hijack log. Even if you don't post a log, it would be good to read through the list of scanners and programs recommended to be run first. Just running the scans may solve your problem. Keeping and using good antispyware programs and antivirus can save you a lot of grief.

Personnally, I don't recommend Dell as they tend to run hot, but this will do everything you say you want to do.

But many people like Dell - so it's really a matter of preference.
