I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,I sent my Y700 for depot repair after it started malfunctioning, and they could not repair even after two weeks and hence approved my case for a refund. They said the refund will take a week and someone will get in touch. Now, it has been close to 4 weeks, no one has contacted. Everytime I contact the customer care , they mention the machine is in service center still and it needs to reach the warehouse before they can issue refund but they cannot answer why it is taking time. Now, they have closed the service ticket and expired the warranty of the product(still 2 months were left) and the case manager is not even replying to the emails.Should I consider taking legal action against lenovo ?I have all the case number and refund approval mails.

Bought my laptop one month ago and yesterday it black screened and is just a paperweight now. Lonovos only solution to selling defective computers is to repair them. What I couldn't get them to understand is that I don't want a broken and repaired laptop, that's not what I paid for. I paid for a no defective computer. You cant give me a broken machine that you band-aided for the same price as a new machine. I just want a replacement or my money back. I feel as if I'm getting screwed over big time here, and that's not how a company should do business. Don't sell me a lemon and then offer to fix it. I didn't want a lemon in the first place. I want what I paid for, a fully functional non defective machine. Lenovo refuses and is keeping the money. Lesson learned.

Hi guys.. On my Yoga 730, when i play any audio file, it plays instantly on normal speakers, but when i plug in a headphone to jack, when i play an audio file, it starts to play but, no sound on headphoe for a few seconds, then it comes... On headphone, starting of songs, in a few seconds, sound is not available, but after a few seconds, it will be able to hear. ?t seems as like it can't buffer. 1-2 seconds silence, then it will starts. I tried everything. Update my bios, chipset, windows, finally i reset complete pc. But no solution. On normal speakers play, and sencronized i hear, but on headphone, after a few seconds.  It seems about sound card driver, but it's better, updated, latest driver of realtek. And i have an external usb sound device. It works good. When i plug-in it to usb port, sounds come, good, instantle, no delay, completly senkronized... Please help me.

So, Alienware sent me a replacement M18 last week with better specs than my old one. I had this issue on the old one, but chalked it up to the other problems it had. This laptop has been in my hands since last Friday. The issue is, video play back of any kind, any browser and any app causes the entire system to hang. It forces me to do a hard reset every time. Everything else works perfectly. Absolutely no issues  with any video game. I thought it was maybe gfx related but nVidia said it wasn't and get with Alienware. Before I went to them, I thought I would try microsoft support techs... After remotely connecting they suggested a fresh install of the os. So now my pc has a completely fresh install of the os and still has the problem. The issue happened before and still remains after updating all drivers. I just finished talking to alienware support. They connected remotely, checked all the drivers, ran several diagnostic tools and said everything looked perfect. The tech suggested the cpu is spiking in temp and they would send someone to replace the heat sink. But the monitoring software he used shows the temps to be around 68C to 75C even when I recreate the issue and it hangs the last reading is normal. So I don't think their solution is correct. I'm attaching the Sysnative BSOD Dump + System File Collection App  and Administrative Events. In this info, I recreated the issue at 10:50am according to the computers clock. It just doesn't make sense that a brand... Read more

Hi,I purchase Lenovo flex 3 model last year online from lenovo site. Somehow in few months i started getting touch screen/cursor hanging problems in laptop. I called up customer care and try to resolve the issue. They suggested me to do factory reset and try once more.I did factory reset, but issue still persist.Next I debugged the issue with technician online and he asked me to send the machine to repairing center. After 3 weeks I received my machine again factory reset and problem of touchscreen didn't solved at all. Then I again called up technician and asked for refund on 8th December, somehow after multiple follow ups i got a call from CRM Crystal1 holeman and she still didn't agreed to refund and suggested me for another chance of repair. As I already told them that i am moving out of country on December27/28, I want everything to be solved by then. Some how looking at the parts unavailability and my stay in country, she agreed for refund. Thankful to her for that. Now she asked me to send the lenovo laptop to return center with shipping label lenovo had provided. It reached to Lenovo return center on Dec 16th. And same day she agreed to process the refund. She told me that it may take upto 3-5 business days to process the refund. Crystal1 responds very rarely and this looks annoying to me to get my answers.I am still trying to follow up with her to get transaction number to track how far has my refund being processed. Still waiting for my money in my acc... (posted in wrong place previously) In December, my laptop starting resetting itself (still in warranty). Its now May, and Lenovo are still refusing to give me a refund or a replacement. I feel I've been very understanding and patient at all the slow failed attempts to deal with the problem, but I'm completely fed up now. I'm a student, so having a reliable laptop is obviously really helpful, but I've spent many weeks of this year without a laptop whilst Lenovo have tried to repair it, and the rest of the time I've had a laptop that resets without warning which means I sometimes lose work even though I save my work regularly and back it up.  In January, it was sent to be repaired, they replaced the hard drive, but the problem still kept happening when it came back in February. In February, it was sent to be repaired again. They couldn't replicate the problem so claimed it was working fine (even though I had sent evidence that it wasn't fine, each reset left reports in the reliability monitor about bug report 124 and that it was a hardware error). So they sent it back unchanged after several weeks. Lenovo told me if the problem was still happening that they would refund or replace it.However, when I reported it still did happen, they said actually it was Lenovo's policy that there must be three failed repairs before they would do that.So in March I sent it off again to be repaired, this time they acknowledged again there was a fault, but they just repla... Hi, Does Zemana offer refunds and do they actually do it. I am very dissapointed with them and have approached them for a refund. I have to yet receive a reply.

A:Zemana Refund - Will they refund me? Where can I ask for my money back?

You can request a refund here: Order Detail Request Form

Where it says "Order Request Type", you can select "Refund Request"

Personally, my experience has always been good but security software behaves different with each computer. Whether or not you can receive a refund is probably a case by case basis in which only they can have a sure answer.

as you probably know my netbook has the GMS 500 AKA satan's mobile gpu. A few weeks ago i got pissed off enough to file a complaint with the BBB which set it to Intel. The complaint had the requirement of new drivers, replacement, or a refund.

They have accepted the refund for $347.

Problem is, I kinda like having a laptop, and this was and is the cheapest computer that has a bigger than 13" screen. However, I already have an office set up with a bigger screen eta so the size wouldn't bee that much of a problem, and I believe that for the amount of time I use it without my external screen/keyboard/etc, it may be fine as long as I can find a better netbook for the same price.

So, do you think I should accept the refund?

A:Should I refund my laptop?

Ideally I'd replace it with something with the ION, but the only one I can find is a HP mini in Costco for $500
Turns out the 950 and the 3150 both kick the 500's butt, so I may look at them.

Hey all, I'm having a dilemma.

TLDR: my new Acer Aspire E 15 laptop has a messed up screen, should I get a refund and either finance a MacBook or find a used MacBook, or try to repair the Acer?

In mid march I bought a new laptop - an Acer Aspire E 15 from Amazon. A couple weeks ago I opened it and there was a big black spot on the screen with white lines coming from it. The laptop hadn't been dropped or even moved, I don't know what caused it. But reviews on amazon said other people had the same problem a month or two after buying the laptop.

I contacted amazon and they said I can return it for a refund. I contacted the seller and they said I could send it to them for repair. However, I use my laptop for work and couldn't go that long without it for them to fix it. When I contacted Acer about the warranty, they said that since the black spot is "finger shaped" (??) it's not covered under warranty. But it is so large that it's a real problem when trying to work, or even just generally use it.

So now I have to decide whether to get it repaired or get a refund and buy a new laptop. I'm leaning toward the latter. I really want a MacBook and was approved for financing from Apple.
However, my friend made the point that computers are kind of like cars in that they depreciate in value after you buy them. So is it really worth getting a new MacBook and financing it? Or should I look into getting a used one for cheaper? If I get a us... Read more

I have purchased Dell 7378 13' Laptop (Refurbished) in December' 2016. Upon receiving the machine, I have initiated return and received authorization label and returned to Dell warehouse. Dell warehouse confirmed that Laptop was received by them on 7th Jan'2017 and informed me that refund will be credited in 30 to 45 days. This happened in January 2017 and this is June'2017. It's been already 6 months and I have not received my money back.

I have contacted customer support team multiple times (nearly 15 to 20 times) and every time they have told me that something is pending(they are never clear on what is pending)  from verification team, after each time, I have called order verification team to see if anything is pending on my order/account, but they have told that account is clear and there is no activity pending. And when I contact customer support team again upon order verification team confirmation, same story repeated. I have asked both the teams for escalation contacts and asked them for way to work together to resolve this, But I did not get any response or solution for this.

I really want to escalate this to higher level, My funds are being held by Dell even after returning laptop 6 months ago and without anything pending from me/customer. and I have spent lots of time on reaching customer support and order verification team without any result. This is really frustrating experience with Dell teams

I had this same problem a few months ago and got help through here (link)... now it seems that my computer is having problems again. I haven't downloaded anything lately, no obvious problems, the speed has been fine, I keep using firefox with no apparent changes to anything, so I don't know where the problem came from. I am currently using a wired secure connection that had no problem when I first hooked it up- it ran fine for a week before just stopping working. My laptop acknowledges that there is something trying to connect, but never makes it past 'identifying' which means I have no internet access from my laptop (currently on my desktop). Can anyone help please?

This is with reference to http://techguy.org/838279. I am experiencing the exact same symptoms on my Inspiron as described by Max on this thread - PF usage continues to go up to 6-7 GB on my 1GB RAM system, even after I have exited all programs, cleared browser cache, hibernated/woken-up (0 applications, minimal processes with selective MSConfig startup). This problem surfaced coinciding with two malwares:
1. Exploit:Java/CVE-2008-5353.JD
2. Trojan:Java/Selace.AA

Interestingly, Norton Security Suite could not detect these, but MS OneCare scanner did (but could not remove!). However, the MS Security Essentials was able to get rid of both these. But the PF problem did not go away. Even after I reformatted my C: and reinstalled XP SP3 using the Dell recovery disk, it still continues to climb up. Could this be a hardware issue?

I've never had this problem before - through 4 years of usage of this Inspiron.
I'd appreciate all advice here!

Thanks!

Hi,
This problem originated a few weeks after I contacted MSN b/c I had a difficult time signing in. They made me click different stuff, and default a bunch of stuff, and now here's the problem:
I can connect on line within 30 seconds, then MSN won't sign me in...it takes forever.
The check mail, and junk filter runs for at least 20 minutes.
When I open mail, it won't download quick that takes forever, and all it says is LOADING.
AND surfing the web, pages won't download, the PC is constantly thinking.....I have defragged, used WinDr. CWshredder, spy sweeper, cleaned all files..everything appears clean. I have Norton systemworks 2005, all okay.
I have a winows firewall, is there also a firewall with Norton, that could be running?
I DID not have any problems until I talked with MSN...In fact, I thought it was THEIR problem, not mine..
I not too good at this, please help.

Thank you.

Hey there again..

I've recently, in the last week, just formatted my computer.. And ever since I formatted, loading up to Windows takes twice to three times as long as it used to, and loading up MSN Messenger 7.0 also takes a painful amount of time.

This has only happened since we had 512kb Broadband installed via USB.. Could this be a potential problem? Every other program/app (IE/Outlook) loads up fine, apart from MSN and Windows load.

A:Delaying Loadup

I am going to assume when you got your highspeed internet you did not download any type of firewall, or antivirus. There was a recent study that showed an unprotected computer on the internet will be infected by more than 3 viruses in less than 10 minutes, even if you don't do anything.

solution:

Using a firewall will allow you to give/deny access for applications that want to go online. Please download a free one at ZoneAlarm.

Since you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan. If you don't have one installed but would like to have one for the future download a free one at Grisoft. Install it and make sure to check for updates.

download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go here to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Hello,
I have been having a problem for quite some time and can't seem to be able to figure out what is causing it. My Dell Inspiron Laptop had crashed which forced me to do a format and re installation of the OS. This issue has been there right from the reinstall which makes it even more strange as few 3rd party applications were loaded at that time. I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP3.
When I boot up my computer and check the task manager the PF usage is at about 330-350 MB and continues to climb until it is at 4-5GB which is when I start getting VM warnings and have no choice but to shutdown the computer and start again. Another problem is that I cannot properly shutdown the computer, well, it takes about 10-15 minutes for the PC to gracefully shutdown, usually I need to force it. I presume this issue has something to do with that. I set my registry not to clear the page file at shutdown but this did not help, I don't have APM (Advanced Power Management)
Below is what I have already done to try and resolve the problem but have not had much in the way of luck.

Deleted the page file and reset it to system managed size. Also created user set min/max values.
Looking at the TaskManager no VM or MEM draining programs seem to be running. All seems normal.
Since this problem had started soon after a format/reinstall there was no need to remove 3rd party applications since there were very few.
Ran chkdsk /r /f, page file defrag, system defrag, cleanup... Read more

A:Windows XP PF Usage Climbs Indefinitely

The PF in TaskManager is really Commit Charge NOT Page File usage.

So, if this number continues to get larger, one of your active apps is continuing to allocate more and more memory.

From TaskManager, Processes tab, click on the column header VM Size to sort the Virtual memory allocation in descending sequence.

Now, what app is at the top.

BTW this symptom is frequently seen with a Malware infection. Have you done a recent scan?

Hey, so I started to have some trouble with my external hard drive a few days ago, it wasnt showing up in my computer. I tried the basic troubleshooting options of switching ports/ cables...nothing. The device shows up in device manager as a disk drive as well as a usb mass storage device, however does not appear in the disk management utility. tried to uninstall the hardware itself from the device manager and it just hangs on the uninstaller indefinitely. When I checked out the process manager, it seemed like the error was somewhere within the device manager thread in the mmc.exe process chain. Isn't any third party software I dont think, I tried the uninstall with a cleanboot and in safe mode. Please help, really need to be able to use this harddrive on this pc. Thanks in advance.

I need help!!!
Up until September my PC downloaded and installed Windows 10 updates for months and months with no problem. Since then every time I get an update when the systems tries to restart it shuts down then restarts and I get the Blue windows symbol for a few seconds then the screen turns black with a rotating symbol at the bottom indicating it is installing the update.
However it just sits and sits and sits at that screen and never goes any further. I have waited up to an hour.
I have to manually turn off the PC, 10 second rule, unplug my mouse USB then reboot.
The updates are then installed and the sign in screen appears. I then reinsert my USB and everything works fine until the next update.
Since I can?t get to the sign in screen I can?t start in safe mode.
I have checked the drivers for all my USB devices and they are supposedly up to date.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mouse.
I have checked the display adapter and the only one I have installed is the Intel HD Graphics and you can?t uninstall it.
Nothing has worked!!!!!!!

I'm unsure if this is the correct forum, but:

Occasionally my computer will (and I know this is an unfavorable term) completely freeze. I say freeze because the audio coming out of my speakers loops on the sample that it froze on (I think anyway, it's almost like a buzzing, except it repeats the sample).
It does it completely randomly, restarts don't seem to affect how often it occurs.
Open programs seem to increase the chance but do not dictate for certain when it'll happen. I've come home to it doing it before, god knows for how long.
Seems like if something is graphically intense it increases the chance. I changed out the video card yesterday, but it has done it today once.

I'm on Windows 7 Professional x64.
Intel i5-2400 3.1GHz
8GB memory
Foxconn Rattler P67 Mobo

I somewhat suspect mobo, since it's kind of a cheap one and had issues when I got it.

My computer the past few days has a serious hang time in that when I click something it takes many minutes, if it'll actually open, to open. Essentially, it running slow all of sudden to the point that I can't actually use the computer unless I restart several times. Sometimes though it will run really fast for a few minutes or so faster than usual like it come sin waves of fast and slow, though as the days go by this seems less so and it more just slow. This is the same for whether it is on the internet or not. I have removed temporary files, checked for unnecessary/too many programs, checked for too many start-up programs, still have plenty of memory, it was defragged, and Norton 360 didn't come up with any viruses. Yet I did have to remove norton because it had an error (8504,104) and when that happened I downloaded AVG and Malwarebytes b/c I wasn't too happy with norton which found a few threats that I removed but didn't solve the problem. Also my computer is a Toshiba L655 running Windows 7 64-bit. I hope this is detailed enough with all your looking for this isn't really my strong suit, but I believe it is infected somehow. Anyway thanks in advance.

Tried Safe mode? Your previous posts indicate several boot problems so I'm wondering if it's perhaps a general problem or only with a normal boot. You could also try with a new account to see if that's any different.

I had a similar problem once and it wasn't easy figuring out but in my case it turned out to be the desktop theme. Changing theme wasn't enough, I had to run a troubleshooter as well: Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects
%systemroot%\system32\msdt.exe -id AeroDiagnostic

Safe mode uses everything in very basic mode and with minimal load of programs/drivers, so try that if you haven't already. Plus a new account.

For the last few months my computer has been running slow. Sometimes when I click on a link or if I hit the back button, it takes a second for my computer to respond. Also, the typing sometimes slows down so that I have to wait for the letters to appear. I also noticed a drop in the noise level when the computer was working, so I replaced the psu with an antec 430 watt. This fixed the fan problem, however, my computer still runs erratically, especially after it has been on a while.

Any help?

Hi, and welcome to TSG

I assume you defrag regularly, if not, do so...

Also, go here, find a registry cleaner and clean the registry - that should help:

http://9337387.home.icq.com/main9.html (Franks windows 95/98 tips)

But if your machine only has this problem after it's been on for a while it could be an overheating problem.

Also, seeing as it's apparently come on gradually, it's unlikely to be spyware etc. but just to be on the safe side, run an anti-virus scan and download and run ad-aware, spybot search and destroy, CWShredder and spyware blaster:

For Spyware tools, some sites to download from are:

Hi my computer has been doing alot of crashing even tho i have formatted.... and a new hard drive (160gb) which it only says 130gb on windows xp.
Ive formatted my hard drive and installed windows on it, along with sp1 and sp2, and all the other stuff, like anti-virus, drivers.
But now, it takes ages to load programs up, and delays between moving the mouse and scrolling down webpages, like it's lagging, when opening programs sometimes they don't load then about 20 seconds later then load all at once if i opened loads at once. Lots of lag when not loading programs but just looking around, moving the mouse, typing, just lags and delays. And when shutting down the computer it stays on "Saving your settings" for like 1 min then shuts down the computer. windows sometimes crashes, programs not responding sometimes

I have no idea what's wrong

Hope you can help

Sorry if i couldn't explain well

It's very annoying especially when expecting something that it shows no mail. I go to gmail and there IS mail. It arrives on my Outlook about 30 minutes later. I Googled the problem and it said to empty some of your folders so I did that yesterday and still it's delaying my mail. Sometimes as long as a couple of hours. Anyone?????

Is there anyway to remove or delay these annoying tooltips when hovering over anything in windows 7?

They are seriously annoying and useless. I remember i had the same problem in win xp and never found a way to disable all of them. I was hoping this would change in win7 but seems like it didn't.
