I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Sorry I can't answer your question, but this post piqued my interest. I use the Logitech 620 touch mouse on a Windows 7 box at work. I find a little touchy and has to tweaked. But I haven't tried the 620 on Windows 8. Because I'm always looking for the perfect mouse, I think I might just pick up the 400 tonight and let you know.

To go with their new shiny operating system MS are launching their touch mouse.
You will be able to buy this at the bargain price of $79.99!!!!

Somehow I do not feel tempted to replace my 10year old 5 button mouse that has the paint worn off but still works perfectly. This cost the enormous sum Of ?4.50 call it $7; media keyboard ?6 ($9)

A:M$ touch mouse $49.99 keyboard $79.99!!

I've got a lot of old Ms hardware that I still use. They're pretty solid.

I'm really WTF on the price though. I can get a decent mechanical keyboard for less, and that will be significantly better in typing quality.

Hi guys,
I've just installed win8 on my media PC, I'm really happy with it for the most part, it's not worse then win7, there are some small but helpful changes to wmc. Metro looks great on the tv. There is just one problem, when I click on text boxes in metro apps with the mouse I don't get a keyboard as you would if you touched the text box. This is particularly annoying as I don't have a keyboard in my lounge room, and it seems that there is a whole new interface that would be perfect on the tv that I can't use very effectively I know you can launch osk.exe from the desktop and then switch to metro and it will stay on top but it's not really a very smooth solution. So i suspect there is a reg hack that I can implement that will cause the mouse to launch the touch keyboard in metro - is there? can someone tell me what it is? or any other solutions that would enable me to effectively use the metro interface with only a mouse input would be great. If this can't be done I really do think it's a massive oversight from Microsoft! There is a good interface that is unusable without a keyboard or touch. If i was to buy a new touch mouse would that do the trick or is it going to behave like a mouse in this respect?

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Hi, I'm new here and I really need some help with my laptop.
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400, running Windows XP Media Center Edition (I've had the laptop for almost 3 years) and recently I've been having problems with my wireless mouse, the laptop's keyboard and touch pad.
Recently (since last Tuesday) whenever I use my laptop's keyboard it lags very badly. It sometimes doesn't pick up letters and to type anything without missing letters I have to hold down a letter for a few seconds. Also my laptop's touch pad lags very badly as well. And lastly my wireless mouse lags, nowhere near as bad as the touch pad (a short pause every 2-3 seconds), but it's enough to be annoying, but the wireless keyboard is absolutely fine.

I've already done a few things, I've checked to see if any processes are using a lot of the CPU (none are), there's no unusual processes running either, I ran a virus scan and it found nothing, I ran chkdsk (/p and /r, neither found anything), and I replaced the ntoskrnl.exe file in my system32 folder (I was randomly getting errors saying that it was corrupt or missing when I turned on my laptop, but I think that fixed it), I've also plugged in a wired mouse in to my laptop and got the same lag as the wireless one.

Can anyone help me with this? I really need help

Thanks

A:Wireless mouse lag and laptop keyboard and touch pad lag

Can't anyone help me?

Here's a little update.
The lag with the wireless mouse is gone, but the lag with everything else is still there.
I had to repair my windows install because I was randomly getting an error at start up saying that windows couldn't start because the ntoskrnl.exe file was missing or corrupted. Then it would only come up with a screen asking if I wanted to start safe mode, start windows normally, etc.
It came up with the ntoskrnl.exe error came up again after the repair, but it can start up now.
Please, someone help.

Hi
My MS Arc Touch Mouse stopped working. A friend of mine who has the same mouse had lost his mouse's nanoreceiver and he had given his (almost new) mouse to me couple of years back (kept without batteries).
Now I'm left with one Arc Touch Mouse and one nanoreceiver v1.0. Is there any way I can pair the two? I tried to install Intellipoint and do something with it, but without luck. I'm using a Windows 10 laptop.

My Lenovo U410 Touch recently got damaged - the hinge broke causing the touch screen to **bleep**.I was told that a repair was not feasible as none of the repair shops near me were able to source the parts needed.I therefore bought a new laptop. However, there is a lot of data on the old laptop that I want to access, including sorting out the licensing of MS Office (by uninstalling from the old one).I cannot do anything about it as the old machine is completely unusable as due to the touch screen being cracked, it seems to think it is constantly being touched in multiple places on the screen. This means that I cannot access the laptop to copy the data or uninstall Office. Anyone know any way around this that doesn't involve taking it to a repair shop to "recover" my data. Cheers

hi Hersh,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

First do a Power Drain
     (If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
                  If not
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

I have an Acer Aspire M computer with a touch screen that runs Windows 8.1. I was having issues with the touch screen, so I went to download the drivers from the Acer website. However, when I restarted my computer to complete the installation, it wouldn't allow me to use either the mouse, touch screen, or keyboard.
Normally, after loading, a personalized picture will appear on the screen, displaying the time, connectibility, and strength of the network. The user is then supposed to swipe up, click on, or press space to move the picture, at which point the login screen appears. My computer loads normally when starting, but won't allow me to use the mouse, touch screen, or keyboard to move the picture out of the way, so I cannot access the login screen.
I have already contacted the Acer company support and attempted to use the battery reset pinhole, but to no avail. Is there anything I can do, besides a factory reset or using it as a cat bed?

A:No touch, mouse, or keyboard input after computer reset

using it as a cat bed

Probably best.

You could uninstall those drivers, looks like you will need to do it from outside windows.

You would need a decent winpe., which you probably don't have, nigh on impossible to make one given your situation.

System restore to just before the problem may do the job.

Try that and see.

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly on my Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc off or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started but all drivers and everything is up to date. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver and had to  show hidden divices in order to find it. I cannot enable it and when i check in the properties the following message displays: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I have no idea on how to connect or how it got disconnected. I come from a similar thread but did not solve my problem. I have been researching this for hours and have not found and answer. Help please!

Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. I had no luck trying driver versions 7.3.3.12, 7.3.4.8 and 7.3.4.13. I would really appreciate your help since this issue makes working in the tablet position... Read more

Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga is connected to a large display through ThenkPad docking station.  Its lid is closed.   During my work, from time to time I see random touch clicks on my screen, and random opening of menus.  It is clear that the touch screen is active although the lid is closed.  When I open the lid, and still connected just to the 2nd display (large screen) display the phenomena stops.  Worth noting is that although only the 2nd display shows an image, the laptop touch screen is still sensetive to touch.  This is I guess why the random touches show up on the screen -- it feels the keyboard not fingers. I expect the touch screen to be disabled while the lid is closed or when projecting only to the 2nd screen.  The solution of opening the lid while connected to the docking station is not acceptable.  Lenovo's local support suggestion to disable touch for the Yoga is also not acceptable -- people purchase Yoga to get Touch.   A solution please! Yaron

Hi @frostygirl13, and thank you for your post.Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. My understanding of your post is that you are dealing with two issues, one, the projector lamp is on, when you expect it to be off, and two, the touch mat is not working for you. I am happy to give you a hand with this. For the first issue with the projector, I found the following post, with suggestions from forum experts @DavidPK and @WyreNut:  Sprout Projector.  This may be difficult to do based on your second issue. For the second issue with the touch mat, I would first make sure that you have all of your drivers up to date, and make sure you have the latest update for Sprout Workspace installed. You can use the HP Support Assistant, to check for updates. Please let me know how that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

My husbands ASUS touch screen laptop-keyboards are not working. I know it has windows 8. Core i3 intel inside. Like I said it is a touchscreen and neither the hardware keyboard or touch screen keyboard will do any thing (well it is like the computer understands i am doing something with the keyboard, but not typing. Ex. i will type and the curser line will do nothing but suddenly go like an italicized line. The mouse works and the touch screen works but I cannot type anything. I have wiggled the keys thinking maybe something is stuck but no help. also I have restored it to its factory settings thinking maybe he accidentally set some keyboard sleep command or something. We are both not smart at this, and again it is not my computer, he has it for work, so who knows what he did to it. But yeah, after restore it still wouldn't work and now I am stuck at the registration "getting started" windows and I cannot bypass them....or don't know how to without being about to type. The last it worked he said he cleaned it with pressurized air, so I don't know if that was too much for the keys...if he actually blew dirt into it, or what strange thing could have happened...but the fact that both touch screen and actual keyboard aren't working I am left stumped. I hope I gave enough information on the computer. It has that surface windows...he normally just uses the desk top mode. Ok thank you for any advice.

I have an HP Envy M7-J120DX-17.3" laptop running Windows 8.1. I've had this machine for about 8 months now and have loved it.

Over the last while now I've had an issue where I suddenly lose control of the mouse - the cursor starts jumping all over opening random things. I get the grey circles as when one touches the screen except they're popping up all over the place. I'll immediately shut everything down. When I reboot it doesn't show itself right off but eventually it returns.

I've attached a couple of images of the laptop screen so you could see what I'm dealing with - I've circled in red the "touches" that I could catch with my camera. The shots are of my desktop screen - the "touches" bounce around like fireworks going off but don't hit anything as they're more concentrated in the middle of the screen. If my Windows 8.1 screen was up, everyone of those "touches" that happened to hit a tile would open it. When on the internet it's a nightmare because bookmarks, links etc all can randomly be touched and opened. I had to drag the virus scan shown off to the side so it wouldn't get messed up during it's run.

I've had a lot of help from NASDAQ over in the Malware Log forums and we've run a bunch of scans but to no avail (the link is attached below):

A:Touch Screen / Mouse out of Control

Hi Krooz,

I'm not an expert on this, but it seems similar to a problem that I've had with my Surface Pro 3.  If you live in a humid area, use evaporative cooling (swamp coolers), or accidentally leave the laptop in the bathroom while taking a hot shower,  moisture can get between the LCD and Digitizer assembly and create these "ghost touches" you are experiencing.  As you have mentioned the touches appear to be concentrated in the center line.  This could also be cause if you carry the laptop around by hand (like a book) and the pressure and friction (and sometimes sweat) from your arm can affect the screen.

The way I have dealt with this before was to fold a large towel several times and place on a flat surface,  Prop the laptop with the back of the lid flat on the towels.  Take a hairdryer and carefully heat the screen to soften the adhesive between the screen and digitizer.  Then take a clean dry folded hand towel and with firm, but GENTLE pressure wipe from the middle of the screen outward.  Much like removing air bubbles from under a sticker.  Depending on how much moisture is trapped in the screen this may not work.  If this does not fix the issue, you could always go into Human Interface Devices in Device Manager and disable the HID-compliant touch screen, and just use it as a standard laptop.

Hi,

I turned on my laptop this morning to find that the touch pad doesn't work. This wasn't really a problem as I generally use a plug-in mouse, however, upon restarting my computer again, my keyboard also doesn't work.

I'm running Vista 32 bit and I have no idea what to do.

Does this sound like a software problem or a hardware problem? Is it possible that I have a virus that is causing this?

Would my best solution be to re-install Vista?

I have everything backed up so I don't mind doing that, however, I don't know how. When I bought my laptop Vista was pre-installed so I don't have the CD.

I'd be very appreciative to any help you guys could offer!

Please excuse me as my knowledge on computers is very limited.
I just bought a Dell Inspiron second hand. The person who sold it to me has no knowledge or doesn't want to tell me what's wrong with it. A few minutes after you power it on and start using the touchpad it will sometimes glitch. The screen will go grey and there will be lines. If I stop using the touchpad for a few minutes it will go away. But it continues to do it randomly every few minutes.
I would really like to know what is wrong with it and how I fix it. I know that it has been dropped as there is a chip in the corner under the keypad.

I have a Samsung series 7 Slate, which works great and is really fast with Windows 8. But with one piece of software the touch screen doesn't work, the menu items will light up but nothing happens when you press them. If I use a mouse it works fine and as it should. I don't think it's the software because I also used it on a HP 500 Slate and the touchscreen worked fine on that.

If anyone has any ideas for a solution to this problem I would much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

A:Mouse works but touch screen doesn't!

There is a bit of a glitch when using older touchscreen hardware with windows 8.

Nearly all older touchscreen hardware is implemented as an mouse emulator. So when pressing on the screen it simulates a mouse click.

Windows 8 makes use of the touchscreen interface rather than the mouse interface for touchscreens, and the driver it installed for your touchscreen (if it installed one) may not be working too well with the hardware. If you install a driver separately for that touchscreen you may get back the mouse emulation for the touchscreen, but then some of the better options like gestures and sweep scrolling may not work well or at all in windows 8.

So what you really need is a touchscreen driver that is really a touchscreen driver (not a mouse emulator driver) for that model of touchscreen on your slate. If you know the touchscreen manufacturer you can maybe find a beta on their site for Windows 8? Find the touchscreen device in the hardware control panel and look up it's VID and PID to find the manufacturer if the driver page doesn;t already tell you. (There is a website somewhere that'll look up the VID/PID and tell you what the product and manufacturer is)

But.. may be slim chance. If not, try finding the normal windows 7 touchscreen drivers for it, that may help some, though not guarantee it'll be fully functional.

My wife's laptop was just upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After the upgrade neither the touchpad or the touch screen worked at all. I dug around and enabled the Elan Mouse in Controle panel. That allowed the touch pad to control the cursor but the mouse buttons still don't work.

I haven't even started on the touch screen but I would love any ideas.

A:can a touch screen work in dos

OK, if I read that right, you are missing the Windows 7 Boot Animation. I'm not sure if these links will help but its some place to start.
No windows 7 boot animation
No boot animation for Windows 7? [Archive] - My Digital Life Forums
Oh, thats not DOS, there is no DOS in Windows 7. There is a command shell that you can launch from Windows but its not DOS. The first text based screen you see during boot up is the BIOS POST screen and or your Video cards BIOS screen.

I have an HP ENVY TouchSmart, Windows 8.1 and 64-bit operating system and yesterday my touch screen was working fine, and today I turn on my laptop and it doesn't work at all. Keyboard works fine, mouse works fine. everything but the touchscreen. I thought it could be complications from a very recent update but It was updated on the 17th. Under my system information it says, "Pen and Touch: No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display". I don't know if that's unusual. I've restarted it, and tried steps to fix the problem like "calibrate my screen" but i can't seem to find the settings to it. In my Device Manager settings, I can't seem to find anything relating to touchscreen software, if there is any? I take good care of my laptop but I don't know the first thing about it. There is no damage to it.  When troubleshooting Hardware and Devices, "The driver for eGalaxTouch EXC7910-1037-11.01.01 is not installed."...Problems found: eGalaxTouch EXC7910-1037-11.01.01 doesn't have a driver-Not fixed. Hardware changes might not have been detected-Detected. I've checked if anything neds to be updated. I dont know what to do from here. Is there anything that I need to install?
