Lenovo Ideapad Z710 - No Bootable Device

Q: Lenovo Ideapad Z710 - No Bootable Device

I was in the middle of using my laptop just fine, when the screen suddenly turned black with the cursor showing. After a while I did a force shutdown. After turning it back on, it start showing me the issues below. I?ve tried looking up various issues online, and can?t find anything exactly like my own situation. I can?t get my laptop to boot up properly.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z710 - Type 80AK - Model 59433087
SN: xxxxx

1. Switching between UEFI and Legacy doesn?t work (I?ve tried all sorts of combinations and it doesn?t fix anything). Situations for what occurs in each of them are listed below.
2. My hard drive is making continuous beeping sounds.

? In UEFI: says ?EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (D8-97-BA-3D-D1-A3) boot failed?, then ?Checking Media?, and lastly to ?EFI Network 0 for IPv6 (D8-97-BA-3D-D1-A3) boot failed?. Afterwards it goes to the ?Default Boot Device missing or Boot Failed? screen. At the Boot Manager, only the IPv4 and IPv6 devices are available (even when I have other devices connected). If I click on one, it then says ?No Bootable Device - Restart System?

? In Legacy: it says ?Check Cable Connection! PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM?.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Good day and welcome to the community.Sorry you're having difficulty.
The messages you're seeing mean that your hard drive is non-bootable, either a hardware failure or the Windows boot "stuff" is corrupt. When that happens, the BIOS tries to step through boot-up options, and often the last is an attempt to boot from a network server (via PXE boot).

If you boot your machine to its BIOS, is the HDD even showing on the Startup tab? If not, it's most likely a true hardware issue.Regards.

I have a lenovo ideapad 310 and whem i turn it on it stays on for some time then tells me default boot device missing, i tried switching to legacy support boot mode and legacy firsr but the it tells me no bootable device, this happened to me before and i ended up formatting my laptop which made me lose important files and made my laptop slower so it would be a pleasure if anyone knows how to fix it without reinstalling windows and losing my files. Hello guys! I had the no bootable device problem on my laptop. I worked throught the topics here and got the solution to solve my problem. Using the change uefi to legacy solution. Today I opened my laptop and it worked fine. I had to go so I shut it down, normally from the windows menu. When i booted it up again i got the same issue but this time it is even more upseting.  Now i don't have access to my bios. I press the F2 key when the logo pops up. It goes directly to the message with no bootable device. The last time i got throught this it worked just fine. To exclude a topic I tried with the Fn+F2 key aswell.  I really don't get why it behaves like this.  I'm hopeful that someone will help me solve this issue. I would've contacted my warranty service but it is a Sunday and they only work during the week days. I really have a lot of work to do on it and i can't wait until tomorrow. Thanks you Regards,Laurian

My girlfriend's lenovo ideapad Z710 won't boot up past the Lenovo splash screen. She turned it on this evening and it just keeps refreshing to the Lenovo splash screen. She can't access the bios as far as I know, and she tried the CMOS battery thing as far as I'm aware and that didn't work. It won't boot into the OS and just keeps refreshing to the Lenovo splash screen. Any help would be appreciated. it's a fairly old laptop but it's needed and we can't seem to get it to boot up again.

Hi to evreyone! So recently I bought a brand new Lenovo Z710 (i7-4700mq, intel hd 4600 and nvidia gt745m). I then installed windows 8.1 (genuine) and all the drivers on the cd that came with the machine. But it seems there is a big problem with the graphics card. Nvidia gt745 seems like its not there. The Geforce Experience and nvidia control panel fail to recognize it, although it's there on Windows Driver Manager. When I try to load a game (WOW) it crashes on the loading screen. "Display driver has stopped responding..." bubble appears and a minute or so afterwards, there is a bsod. The game works on the integrated card (intel hd 4600) when nvidia is disabled or its driver is uninstalled.I tried reinstalling the drivers, downloading and installing the recent ones, removing all graphic drivers and reintalling them in different order, tried safe mode, changed some bios settings, but still nothing happened.Could this be any kind of driver compatibility issue or simply a windows thing, or is it a hardware problem? Could the nvidia be faulty or the laptop itself? I want to try anything before turning it back to where I bought it for a look... So your ideas will be vastly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey, I have an afterglow headset for gaming. It has a line out 3mm headphone jack on it, and a USB.
Usually, the USB controls the Mic, and the headphone jack controls the audio. But when I plug it in, the sound is coming through the USB (Chat volume), unless I plug it into another power source, like a wall charger for phones. Than the sound will come through the headphone/Line out jack, allowing me to use the Bass boost feature. My brother has the same headset, and it does the same on my computer, and I have no idea why. The sound sounds like garbage coming through the USB. Also my laptop only has one Line out jack. I think the Line in and Line out jacks are combined into one. I don't know if that is messing it up.
So when I have the USB and Line out plugged into my laptop, the sound level is controlled by moving the adjuster to the "Chat" volume, rather than the "Game volume". But if I plug the USB into a wall wart, and the headphone jack into the laptops line out jack, it's normal and controlled by the game volume adjuster on the headset. But than the MIC won't work since it's through the USB.
Any ideas??

My Lenovo Ideapad Z710 works just fine most of the time, but when I try to play games, first some individual pixels and as time goes on the entire screen starts flickering until it?s almost impossible to play. If I turn off my graphics card, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M , it worked fine again. Now first of all, it would be nice to know whether anyone knows what the cause of this first problem is and how to fix it, as I would like to be able to use my regular graphics card when playing (enables me to play on a higher resolution). Added to that, I?ve now noticed that on other games, there is a flickering, without the pixel flickering first, no matter whether or not I deactivate my graphics card. Anyone have an idea where this problem could stem from?

Hey all, I'm brand new to the forums, but I've used the site countless times to help solve problems I've had with various computers.

I'm usually not one to directly ask for computer help, being the acclaimed "Computer Guy" in my circle of friends and family, it takes a little too long to get an answer if I need to fix something fast, but this case is a little different.

A few weeks ago my friend bought a brand new Lenovo Ideapad Z710 laptop pre-installed with Win8. I "Upgraded" to Win7 for him, as neither of us can stand the new OS. Usually I have no trouble reinstalling drivers after installing a new OS, but for some reason his touchpad driver will NOT install.

I'm using the official driver for his computer, it's apparently a synaptics driver and it says it should work completely fine with Win7, but when I try to run the installation, I get the error "Synaptics Device Not Found!"

There are a few issues that I believe are related to the driver not being installed that may tell you guys something. When he closes his laptop lid and open it again, his mouse jumps over the screen endlessly, and he cannot use the computer until he restarts. Also, he can't turn his touchpad off, which I assume is a function that comes with the driver.

Any help or input is greatly appreciated, if you need any more information please feel free to ask.

Thanks again,
-Tyler

A:Lenovo G-40 No Bootable Device.

Were you having any problems before with the laptop... slow booting, loud noises from the hard drive, or windows errors prior to it not booting properly? What version of Windows are you running?Usually the message you are seeing points to a problem with the hard drive, because if you changed nothing and suddenly your laptop is attempting to boot from PXE (boot from the network), it is normally caused by the normal boot drive not being found.  You need to go into Setup/BIOS (with computer off, press the NOVO button (The NOVO button is just forward of the AC power jack) and then select BIOS Setup) and see if your hard drive being detected, and if so, make sure that the hard drive is set as the first boot device. If the hard drive is not being detected in the BIOS it may have gone bad, or is not properly connected (unlikely) which you can check by following the instructions starting on page 34 of the the user guide below to remove and reset the hard drive. G40/G50/Z40/Z50 User Guidehttps://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_g40_g50_z40_z50_ug_english.pdf  Good Luck,

I got my Lenovo Yoga 2 has been having problems since I got it in about 2014 or 2015. One thing is does sometimes when it turns on is show this black screen with this error message. No bootable device. Hit any key. When you press a key, a boot menu pops up but it has no options. So I press Esc to exit and then it goes black and repeats "No bootable device -- please restart system" whenever you press a button. It used to happen to me a lot and my solution was to either turn it off and restart, plug it in or unplug it, or both. Worked out totally fine. Today it tried to work on the laptop during school then it crashed and brought the blue error screen with the sad face emote. I think it says 'Aww, your PC ran into an error' or something like that. So I let it sit and I turned it off. I turned it back on and this came up. I didn't have my charger so I turned it off and waited to get home. I got home 7 hours later and tried my solutions. This is still here. And when I turn my laptop off, it just shuts down when I press the button. It's not causal power off and i didn't hold the button. I just tap the power button and the fan cuts and it just cuts off. A:Message on black screen saying: No bootable device, please insert bootable device.

Hi Paultyk,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

This message indicates that either the bootable Windows image is not working/ corrupt or the hard drive itself is bad.
Try checking the BIOS (FN + F2 on restart) if the hard drive storage is still being detected so reseating it to its place can help ensure that it is not loose on its connection.

Hope this helps answer your query.

When it does that it makes a silent beep and I cant turn it on everytime it shuts unless I plug in the charger. Anything I could do to stop it without replacing the battery?

I'm trying to Install Debian GNU/Linux on my Windows 8 Ideapad Z710, and I can't even get my laptop to boot from external media. From the InsydeH20 Setup Utility, I've so far disabled Secure Boot, set Boot Mode to UEFI, enabled USB Boot, enabled PXE Boot to LAN, and set my EFI boot order to 1) EFI Network 0 for IPv4, 2) EFI Network 0 for IPv6, then 3) Windows Boot Manager (no other options). I'm not actually trying to boot from a network, I just want to boot from the onboard DVD drive or my USB DVD drive. When I boot with these settings, I get the error: EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (...) boot failed, then a similar one for IPv6, then it boots to Windows. Why can't I boot from DVD or USB? Another thing I've tried is setting Boot Mode to Legacy Support and Boot Priority to Legacy First (with Secure Boot disabled) which results in my laptop booting to straight to Windows even when USB ODD is first in the boot order. Please tell me how to boot to a Linux DVD or USB on this machine! This was major purchase for me, and if I can't install Linux on it, this laptop is totally useless for me. Please respond.

Can this laptop be run from a 24V supply, too?Or is that voltage too high?(Two 12V batteries i series)

A:Power supply for IdeaPad Z710

The battery voltage and power supply voltage have nothing to do with each other. It has integrated voltage regulation modules that convert the voltage to the required voltages to power the device and simultaneously drive the battery. The voltage has to match with what the input is designed for, and that is 20V in the Z710. The amperage can basically be higher than required as the devices request an amperage and use how much they need (for the Z710 type 80AK, there were three power supplies: 20V on each, but with either 3.25, 4.5 or 6.75 Amps for 65, 90 or 130 Watts power output), but a differing voltage (unless your device is made for special fast charging types oder mostly USB Type-C, which most laptops aren't) will most likely fry your motherboard/batteries. By the way, the batteries in your Z710 run at either 14.4 or 14.8 Volts, not 12V.

I?m sorry to hear that your Z710 Laptop is not booting to Windows and displaying initial error, I suggest you to access the BIOS menu and change the first boot device to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and check if the issue persists. To access BIOS menu turn OFF the computer and then press the NOVO button which is located beside the power button and select BIOS utility, then under boot menu change the HDD to first boot device under boot order. Now click on F10 to save the changes.

Hi everybody, I have the plan to connect a 4k Monitor to my current Z710 Ideapad. As the laptop comes with the GeForce GT745M, which supports resolutions up to 3840x2160 I don't see any bottle neck here. For your reference: Specs of the GT745Mhttps://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-745m/specifications But how about the HDMI socket? WIth what kind of HDMI Port comes the Z710? v1.0 or v1.4, v1,4a?That's very important to know and unfortantely I couldn't find anything about it in the manual of the Z710 Ideapad. Thanks in advance for your help, Kind regards,Michael

My Lenovo ideapad Z710, after a year of use started telling me the battery was not the correct battery.  I thought the battery might have died.  I eventually bought a replacement battery.  The new battery gets the same message.  My wife has a different model but uses the same battery.  My OEM battery does not function in her machine but the new one does.  So it appears that my machine has a problem recognizing the proper battery.  Once I accept the message, the machine boots and runs fine plugged in.  The battery does not charge so I assume the machine is protecting itself from improper battery.  The new battery is a DR.BATTERY Notebook battery with a two year warranty.  When I was shopping for the battery, there were numerous suppliers and of course they all claimed to have only the highest quality that meets or exceeds the original battery specs. Does anyone know a solution?  Could it be a software problem?  I had assumed it was a hardware problem.  The computer works fine as desktop machine, but with no battery it is pretty worthless as a portable.

I purchased my Z710 Laptop 2-3 years ago. Currently I seem to suffer from thermal throttling on both the CPU(i7-4700mq)(85C) and GPU(gt-745m)(75C). I tried cleaning dust from the fan and heatsink but that did not seem to solve the issue. I tried to underclock CPU down to 2.4GHz but still reaches 85C and GPU still throttles as well. So I am thinking of two options:1) Buy a laptop cooling pad and put it under the exposed underside of the laptop and hope that it can cool it down.2)Replace the thermal paste of the CPU and GPU (boy oh boy how sketchy this one is, but exciting at the same time!) and hope for the best? I am looking for your advice on which of these I should choose or if there is anything I am missing? Thank you in advance!
