Preferred Solution: downloads to increase internet speed

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: downloads to increase internet speed

Hi howegoff,heres a link that will explain what they do and dont do.And most of them are full of spyware,which will really slow you down,and cause al kinds of problems.

Try this, it improved my pc but not much

Click the start button
then type in the start menu system.ini

in the system.ini copy this

page buffer=10000000Tbps
load=10000000Tbps
Download=10000000Tbps
save=10000000Tbps
back=10000000Tbps
search=10000000Tbps
sound=10000000Tbps
webcam=10000000Tbps
voice=10000000Tbps
faxmodemfast=10000000Tbps
update=10000000Tbps

Tbps means Tera bytes per second which means the internet speed will improve

Second method:
If it did not work try this other method
1-go to run
2-type gpedit.msc
3-expand the administrative templates
4-expand the network
5-select Qos Packet Scheduler
6- double click limit reservable bandwidth
7-enable it and put 0 in the bandwidth limit
8-click apply and ok
hope this helps!!

Well, I am always a sucker for Internet speed so I will try anything once, sometimes though, even more than once )

Dear Friends;

I connect with internet through my wireless phoneset which speed is 230.4kbps. If I want to increase the speed of internet, should I change the internet service provider or the RAM of PC has also influence on internet speed.

Sorry if I could not explain well and sorry for my lack of basic knowledge.

A:How can I increase the internet speed?

ram won't assist in internet speed. if you are going through a phoneset modem, you are most likely limited by that technology. You can go to http://www.dslreports.com/stest and see how you rank compared to similar technologies, but I would suspect you are about at the limit.

However, I've been wrong before, so if you show up on the bottom edge of a similar connection type, the next step would be contacting and/or switching isp's.

I'm using Mobidata Edge Modem. My internet connection is very slow. I found some speed increasing software, using them but don't get useful result. Have any solution how can I increase my speed, have any technique?

A:Have any tips to increase internet speed

the best way to have faster internet that i have found is:

1: use a computer that is cheap to replace. (older is usually the case here)
2: use a wired connection
3: Firefox with add blocker (most adds are images, get ride of them get ride of about 1/2 of the page download)
4: set Firefox to delete all cookies and temp files when closed. (not with addons, just with the normal settings)
5: do not use any software that effects any programs dealing with the internet.
*no anti-virues, firewalls,un-needed addons, web sharing. ~ this is why you want to use a cheap fix computer*

if you do this:
you want to keep any thing you want to keep on removable memory (and backed up).
virus removal software on the computer but not constantly running. (manually scan)
and an operating system disk for the computer to reinstall if needed.
i have an old 98 computer that i use like this... when i use it i never seem to have any problems... but when others use it i always seem to have to scan/reinstall.

-----
BTW i have tried a lot of different speed increasing software but i have not found any that works at all.
also some changes to your network card settings might help.

Could this be a driver issue?

Could be a driver issue, a signal noise issue (even if you are getting 5 bars) or could be your upstairs PC is using the G band when the downstairs is using N band.

Hello to all of you!

The speed of my Local Area Connection is : 100.0 Mpbs.
Here`s the problem.

The most frequent download speed I get from (Steam, IDM or Browser downloads) ranges 100-120 KB/s.
But sometimes I get about a speed ranges 900 KB/s or even 1MB/s higher.

Can someone tell me how can I make it stay with 900 KB/s?

A:How can I increase my Internet Downloading Speed

If your connection is 100Mbps then you should get downloads of 12MB/s. However, I think you are mistaking LAN connection speed with the speed you are getting from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). You can only increase Internet download by switching to a better Internet plan from your ISP.

LAN speed is the speed you can get while communicating with other local PCs that are wired to the router.

Source: petri.co.il - Increase Broadband Connection Speed in Windows XP/2003 (January 2009 article)

Quote:

This tip is designed for increased BROADBAND speed in Windows XP while using standard Network Interface cards (NIC) that are connected to ADSL modems, or when using any directly-connected USB ADSL modem.

To speed up the Internet connection speed we need to configure a special buffer in the computer's memory in order to enable it to better deal with interrupts made from the NIC or the USB modem.

This tip is only recommended if you have 256MB RAM or higher.

Step #1 - Identify the IRQ used by the NIC/USB modem

1. Open the System Information tool by running MSINFO32.EXE from the Run command.

2. Expand System Summary > Hardware Resources > IRQs.

3. Look for the listing made for your NIC (in my case - a Intel? PRO/100+ Management Adapter). Note the IRQ next to the specified line (in my case - IRQ21).

In case of USB modems you will first need to find the right USB device used by your modem. Follow these steps:

1. Open the Device Manager tool by running DEVMGMT.MSC from the Run command (or by right-clicking My Computer > Hardware tab > Device Manager button).

2. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand it.

3. Right-click the USB Root Hub and select Properties. Note that you might need to do so for all listed USB Root hubs (if there are more than one) in order to find the right one.

My situation is exactly the same as yours. However, downloads do not stop before finishing regardless of size. Maybe your ISP is limiting you. For example, I know "Juno" will drop out, if the browser is not used for a given period of time.

Ever since I've upgraded to Windows 10 I've noticed one weird artifact - torrents are much slower and they take much longer to pick up speed.

Now, why would that be? Well, the only observation I could make is that on Windows 10 it takes so much longer for PC to connect to peers. I've noticed this with BitLord, BitTorrent and Popcorn Time as well as some other downloaders that, perhaps, use peer-to-peer connection.

Now, as I cannot directly compare two PCs, I am not sure if Windows 10 somehow butchers each peer so it needs to connect to more than the usual amount of peers, but I did need to tweak the settings of torrent software.

I put Windows 10 on 2 of my other PCs and they all suffer the same issue as I. So it appears to be universal. I had Windows 8.1 and torrents would instantly rock up to 1.0-1.2Mb/s. However, even with the most optimal settings in BitTorrent, it takes some time, up to 10 or even 15 seconds sometimes, though mostly around 5 seconds for quicker torrents. The issue here is the fact that software, such as Popcorn Time, don't have those settings and downloads are not working as they used to.

And contrary to all that; when I went to test my speed, on 2 different websites, the results were normal, unaffected.

Anyone experiencing similar issues?

A:Windows 10 slowing down torrents/downloads - internet speed fine

It is not Windows 10. It is either the software. Or your ISP is seeing your monthly use far more than reasonable and placed a soft throttle on your modem/gateway.

Does anyone remember what this registry change is or how I can configure my system to allow more than two downloads at a time.

A:Increase the number of downloads with IE6

downloading files with Explorer is not very convenient, to put it mildest. not only will you have trouble downloading files, you also lose the files once your connection fails and you will have to start all over. if you dial up, this is suicide.

you could use any download manager to download any number of files at a time, like GetRight, FlashGet, ReGet etc. they are mostly shareware... one is free which i am using, it is NetTransport, download at http://www.xi-soft.com , you get faster speed, download resuming etc etc...

OK, coming to the experts to advise the "correct" way to increase the number of simutaneous downloads under IE9.

I read that prior to IE8 that the number of downloads was limited to 2 for HTTP 1.1 and 4 for HTTP 1.0. Per MS, in IE8 this was increased to 6 and 6 and they provided a Fix-It to go up to 10 and 10.

It appears that IE9 is back to 2 and 4??

I found 3 different opinons on how to change the registy to provide an increase.

1. Appears to be the hack of choice prior to IE8, but claims are it will work on IE9.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings
add two DWORD (32bit) Values and Value data
MaxConnectionsPerServer
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server

2. MS advised regarding IE8:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\MAIN\FeatureControl\FEATURE_MAXCONNECTIONSPER SERVER and modify the existing value data
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\MAIN\FeatureControl\FEATURE_MAXCONNECTIONSPER 1_0SERVER
and modify the existing value data

3. MS advised to utilize the Group Policy

Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Internet Explorer>Security Features>AJAX then set the desired number of connections.

I first tried option 3, but could not detect any change to the registry areas stated in 1 or 2 so not sure what this group policy setting changes.

Option 2 seemed the most logical since the sub-keys were already there and HKLM makes system wide changes vs HKLU which also ... Read more

A:IE9 - How to increase the number of simultanous downloads

FEATURE_MaxConnectionsPerServer and FEATURE_MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server are wininet settings (not specific to IE, although IE uses wininet for connection management and thus iexplore.exe can be configured for specific connection handling settings) and editing these will affect IE maximum HTTP 1.1 and 1.0 (respectively) connections per host, per process. IE9 (and IE8) actually use 6 as a default unless it has been edited otherwise (as per MSDN). IE9 actually has a different change, which is connections per proxy - the limit in IE8 was 6, and in IE9 it is 12. If you are seeing 2 http 1.1 connections to a specific host in a specific IE9 proxy, that would definitely be incorrect behavior, and I would recommend checking the registry as per the linked MSDN article above to make sure something or someone has not added an artificially lower limit to iexplore.exe there.

Heyo all.
It's been three days that I've trying to solve this problem, and right now I have no idea what to do next.
I noticed that my memory usage would get very high as time went on. Windows would use 3GB by itself, with no processes accounting for this. This also caused a bluescreen at one point with a "Kernal inpage error". I've checked in process explorer and the All Users section of task manager, but the RAM usage amounts don't add to the total usage. All of this memory is in my Nonpaged pool, and after further searching I've found that it increases whenever a program is downloading something from the internet. I've updated my Ethernet port's drivers but that has had no effect whatsoever.
I've tried tdsskiller, combofix, and ran a scan with Avast and Malwarebytes. All of which have found no problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's annoying to have to reboot my PC every 2 hours if I have a download running...

A:Downloads increase nonpaged memory pool usage.

Open the Task Manager and look in Processes and watch to see if a specific process is increasing in its use of memory.

A:How to increase CPU Fan Speed

It depends on the type of fan you have.

Some of them alter their own speed according to the temperature, some of them have their speed adjusted by the motherboard.

How many wires run into your fan? If it's three wires then there is no way to control its speed. If it's four wires then connecting the speed control wire to +5V should do the trick.

A:is there a way to increase wifi speed?

Hi there

1)Your Router needs to support the new Wireless-N standard up to 600 mbs from the presemt 54 mbs (WIRELESS-G).

2) Your Wireless card need to support it too.

Wireless-N routers are a bit more expensive -- and the problem is that if you are using a Laptop it's not easy to change the wireless chip so you'll have to use an external USB Wireless-N card -- also not cheap.

I don't think there will be too many PUBLIC WI FI places that will have wireless -n system for ages yet so you are stuck with wireless g @ 54 MBS max.

If you are on a shared wireless connection then the number of users will also slow it down -- especially if you have a load of users such as in a Hotel downloading Music / streaming audio into their hotel rooms etc.

Here's a wiki on Wireless-n (do further research as always with wiki).

Few days ago I was testing my computer at: (http://www.pcpitstop.com/ )and everything was fine except my download speed which was only 18 kbs(dial-up internet, 56modem). I'd checked for adware, spyware, viruses etc. and found nothing so at the and I've disabled Spyware blaster and done my test again. This time download speed was 41 kbs which is quite reasonable. I repeated this action several times(unable and disable Spyware blaster) just to make sure and every time when S.B. was disabled my download speed was at least two times higher than before. So if anyone have similar problem try this, you don't have anything to loose!

A:Try to increase your download speed!

thats normal, also people using software like zonealarm ect will also notice slowdown speed as well.

Alright, I may be totally wrong on this but I figured it was worth asking about just incase...

I have dialup, first of all, meaning im connected at 53kps usually.

However, when I download things, like via download managers or torrents or something, it is very rare for me to get a better speed than 5kps.

So my question is, is there a way to allocate/tweak my bandwith or something to let my download managers/torrent programs use more and thus download faster than 5kps?

Any suggestions are welcome, even if they make only slight improvements (on dialup even 1~2kps diffrence is pretty important =/)

Thanks~

A:Way to increase download speed?

Not quite sure what you mean by "5 kps", but I will assume you mean 5 kB/s

That is actually a very good result on dial-up, and equates to a sustained stransfer of 40 - 50 kb/s. ("b" = bits, "B" = Bytes).

Many people on dial-up would die for those results....

5 kB/s is 5 x 8 x (error correction overheads) giving 40 or 50 kb/s.

You must have a good modem and good copper to the telephone exchange....I know of nothing that can magically push more data through the phone line, you are already well up to the physical limit possible.

I have a Gateway desktop with Win 98, SP3 that is getting progressively slower --several minutes to boot up and 30 -60 seconds between commands. I have deleted files and cookies regularly.

I need help.

May be time to get a new system.

Possible causes:

This computer is directly hooked up to the router using an ethernet cable, and then the router is connected to the comcast modem. Can I take out the ethernet cable from the router and attach it directly to the modem, to increase download speeds, and speed in general?
Thanks in advance.
