Intel Modem keeps reinstalling itself

Q: Intel Modem keeps reinstalling itself

Hi,
I am not sure if the should have gone in the Drivers/Hardware section or not, so I posted to the general section.
Also, this isn't really a problem confined to Windows 10, it occured with Windows 7 as well. But here goes.
I have an ASUS PQ5Pro motherboard with an onboard Intel 536EP modem. This modem (driver) has given me problems for several years (BSOD's). If I disable the modem in device manager, everything is fine. I have even "removed" the modem through the device manager, but somehow, it keeps re-enabling itself after a while. Does anyone know how I can disable it for good without taking a pair of pliers to the damn MB???

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a usr 56k pci fax modem running on an azura system with a 400mhz intel celeron processor and win98se. When my system crashed a few weeks ago I got my windows up and running again, but it wouldn't recognize my modem since it isn't plugged into a com port (actually it reads 'com port 5'). My question is: how do I reinstall my modem, or, where can I go to get these instructions... since I know that I will eventually have to reinstall windows again and I don't want to pay a tech to do it for me. TIA... Bil

A:reinstalling pci modem...

To install a 3COM modem you just need the driver disk that came with it. It should be a CD. If it is newer, you run the pre-install from the CD and it copies all the files to your hard drive. Then, in Device Manager, you remove the modem, and reboot. Windows then installs it correctly.

If you don't have the driver disk, you can download the needed drivers from their website.

You didn't say which model you had, but that link takes you to their main page.

Hello,

I have windows XP on a dell dimension 4700 series desktop. Today we had to reinstall XP.

My problem is I cannot reinstall the drivers and utilities disk (for reinstalling v.9x 56k Data/ Faz Modem Software for Microsoft Windows). It takes me straight to page called modem helper and asks me to select a language.

When I select a language the error 63 no internal modem pops up and tells me to shut down my computer.

I have an external modem (a Westell VersaLink Model 327W). It works fine, I am using my laptop right now.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I then proceeded to start to install preferred browsers, antivirus, etc. when I realized I couldn't get online. So I tried to install PROWinx64.exe, but I then received an error saying: "cannot install drivers. no intel(R) adapters are present in this computer " so now I am clueless. I have attached a DxDiag.txt and I have ran msinfo32 and in problem drivers there is Ethernet, Network and PCI Simple Communications Controller.

Hi all, my windows 10 stopped working, when starting a blue screen appears stating REGISTRY_ERROR. I already had the spring update installed, but it worked fine already for a full day, so I don't believe that it is associated with the error. The windows partition is encrypted with bitlocker. What I've tried so far:- Restoring to previous windows installation or previos safe points via windows boot medium -> fails with a generic error message- Recovering from an Acronis backup -> doesn't work fails with write errors, backup file is valid- Reinstalling Windows -> I cannot select the bitlocker drive to reinstall windows, I tried deleting the partition, this results in error 0x80070017 (and something about crc check)- chkdsk in console from windows boot medium after entering bitlocker recovery key -> No errors found- sfc /scannow in console from windows boot medium after entering bitlocker recovery key -> No integrity errors found- Deleting partitions with gparted -> Fails with input/output write error message- Lenovo System Diagnostics tool and checked the SSD for errors -> No errors found, however it only does a read test I assume that the SSD is gone bad without warning..., however when using the command line from the windows boot medium I can still access the disk and the files appear to be still readable. Now my questions:Is there any bootable tool where I can check if my ssd is defect?Do I need to change some... A:Intel(r) 537 Modem On Xp Pro?

The new inexpensive modems (especially PCtel but intel and all the others are that way now too) tend to be easily damaged by any stray voltage on the phone line and end up crapping out easily without some type of protection on the line. (pctel are usually about 6month modems)

It is possible though that you just have a driver or configuration issue. Have you installed a new internet program like AOL? (aol can mess things up in my experience)

I would test the modem in another system, install the driver and see if it has the same behavior, if not time to update drivers.

I changed the compatibility option so the modem would run in the new PC. I've downloaded it from CNET (the 64bit version) and can't get it to install. I'm sure I'm leaving out some specifics. All I can blame it on anymore is Intel or my own ineptness. And for the 'client', I'd rather blame it on intel. It's like this: My girlfriend wants me to install a regular 56k modem as opposed to the DSL modem on the family computer because the need for the internet is no longer there. So, I head on over, and they decide they just want it formatted. So, I backup their files, and clean the computer out. I install Windows ME after deleting 95. I'll pause here to give you system specs. It's a Pentium 3 about 333MHz, with a voodoo3 and a generic soundcard. It's got somewhere around 64MB of RAM, which I'm guessing is pc100 or slower. CD-ROM drive, 8 gig hard-drive, a typical dated computer. The problem is, when I put in this new modem, Windows Dial-Up Manager does not seem to notice it's a modem. It installs in Device manager, but whenever you open Dial-Up Networking, is tells you you need a modem, and offers to help you install. After which, it adds another copy to device manager, and still doesn't recognize it. The modem has run on other machines(albeit AMD Machines) and the motherboard is new. I've tried three different modems, all of them 'proven'. I'm stumped. Nothing should be able to be holding anything erroneuos to be clogging up Dial-Up. One important Detail: The modem didn't work before or after I wiped the disk.

A:It's gotta be Intel! (modem problems)

Well we know it's not a PIII at that speed, it could only be a PII, and it's most likely running on a 66FSB so that is probaby the speed of the RAM. Without knowing the motherboard model we don't know if it's even an Intel chipset. Have you tried it in a different slot? Using the modem properties in Control Panel have you run the modem diagnostics? Does it show up in Device Manager as working properly?

I'm using an Intel 536EP V.92 56K modem (I know, an el cheapo), and for the life of me I can't get a connection faster than 26400bps. It's set to max out at 115200, as usual. I really don't think it's the line (I actually got the 115K connection once or twice with a different computer/modem--yes, I realize that's not possible, but it sure seemed that fast!) I've tried all I can think to try, and all I've read to try, such as init strings, etc. I'm using MSN, so I would assume they support v.92. I tried a couple of different access numbers. I tried disabling v.92 and just using v.90. I......oh, I don't know. Other than not being cheap, any suggestions?

A:Slow Connections With Intel 536EP Modem

Hi SonOfThunder... welcome to TSG.<BR><BR>You should have the modem port speed at 57600. I'm attempting to create a home wireless network. Hardware: Dell Dimension 8100, 3COM 10/100 network card, Qwest DSL web connection through an internal Intel Pro 2200 modem, Microsoft ME, etc.

My problem is that the Intel Pro 2200 does not have an RJ45 connector on the card, only an RJ11. All access point-type devices that I've seen require an ethernet connection. Can I use my network card to "redirect" my Internet connection from the Intel modem to the 3COM network card (which contains an ethernet port), and connect to an access point device???

Qwest tells me to buy the Actionec 1520 as the workaround...

Hey guys. I working with a Dell 4300, with a new professionally installed Intel V92 Ham Data Fax Voice and I'm running Windows XP. When I got the PC back, everything was running smoothly. No problems. But then my modem started tripping out. I can't stay connected to the internet for more than a minute. I swear. The data stops transmitting if the connection is idle for a couple of seconds and then it disconnects. Constantly having to disconnect and reconnect twice every 5 minutes is annoying. I've tried updating the driver to the one they say is current (driver version 4.47.2.0, dated 6th June 2002), but I get the same result. I'll post a log if it necessary. I really need help. I have a Dell XPS 15 (9550) that I received last week from Dell with a random screen flickering issue.
It is based on evalue order code: <ADMIN NOTE: Order number removed per privacy policy>
It is the 6th Gen Core i7, 16GB RAM, 15.6" FHD 1080p display (not 4k), 512GB SSD, 84WHr Battery, Intel 530 Graphics AND NVIDIA 960M

I saw a post about the XPS 13 with the intel display flickering being fixed with the new driver... I am running driver version 20.19.15.4300 for the Intel 530 and my screen is still constantly flickering  on my brand new XPS 9550.
Another Issue: I also noticed that in the Intel graphics properties config panel -> 3D -> Application Optimal Mode... this also causes issues with the start menu looking distorted and fuzzy, even making some of the white text look gray.  I disabled this to resolve that issue, but the screen still constantly flickers.
One thing I have done recently to mitigate the flickering is go into the NVIDIA driver control panel and set the NVIDIA card as the preferred graphics card, which works for most applications. As soon as the Intel card kicks back in the screen flickers... I have tried various drivers versions for this model off the Dell website without success. I am running Windows 10 Pro...  not sure if a newer driver is available and just not posted. For example the newest Laptop BIOS on the driver website ends in .3 while my pc came with .5 installed. A:Dell XPS 15 (9550) w/ Intel 530 / NVIDIA 960M - Intel Causing Screen Flickering

Another update... I was ready to give up as others have above when I found posts on the NotebookReviews forum mentioning this new Intel Driver:  downloadcenter.intel.com/.../Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-15-40-6th-Gen
It won't install through the executable, but if you follow the instructions here for a manual install: www.windowscentral.com/how-install-intel-beta-graphics-drivers-surface  they do work.  Incidentally that link is regarding the exact same flickering problem on the MS Surface Book Pro(very similar hardware).  I'm 3 days in to using these drivers and it appears to have resolved the problem.  This is the longest I've gone without flickering by a long shot.
Note on the Intel download site the first of the "Key Issues Fixed"...  "Display may flicker on 6th Generation Intel Core and related processors".
I also updated to the latest WiFi drivers from Dell's site at the same time, so I can't be 100% certain my issues were fixed by just the display drivers, or if it was the combination of the two.

Hello,

I bought a computer on eBay with 1 Gig of ram and an Intel Pentium D 805 2.66Ghz processor. It had an AsRock board and when I first attempted to use it which was about 6 weeks after I bout it, it seemed to overheat because it would just shut down and stop on me. At that point I decided to upgrade the board to an Intel D945PVS, once the new board arrived I was excited but cautious, I made sure to use an anti static wristband and I installed the Board/RAM/CPU/heat sink & fan/ e-GeForce 6200 Video card and the hard drives. But almost as soon as I plugged it in I heard a siren sound coming from the board and then the computer shut off. I have attempted a few times to restart it but it continues to follow the same pattern of sounding a siren and shutting down.

I’m not sure what to do at this point, I’ve contacted Intel customer support through their website but that was no help. I know that the Desktop Boards product guide state that the Siren sound is for CPU Overheat (on reboot) but I don’t know what I can do to correct the issue. I have purchased some new thermal CPU Heat Sink compound and thoroughly cleaned the old compound away and the fan is properly positioned and operating as it appears it should.

I did notice some slight discoloration on the CPU over some of the pins (sort of like a slight darkening). Can anyone share their ideas regarding what could be the reason for this?

Thanks,
Kimmy

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has been having the same issue.

My USB3 and USB2 are not working right after I install the Intel USB3 xhci Driver for Intel? 8/9 Series
version 3.0.1.41.

I have used the setup.exe to install the driver and the mouse/keyboard stopped working after the drivers are updated and I am not able to click the "Finish" button on the GUI to complete the installation.

Luckily that I was able to remote login to the PC to click the "Finish" button. After restart, the USB ports starts to work again.

A:USB port not working Intel USB3 xhci Driver for Intel® 8/9 Series

Welcome to SevenForums,

It is a little normal that during the process of updating the drivers, it does disconnect the devices plugged onto ports, to swap drivers and write the files in order the new drivers to work. It does remap the devices.

It is always better to uninstall previous USB 3.0 drivers and use a usb 2.0 port to control temporarily another mouse to finish the process and the reboot required. Could be Intel xHci or AsMedia XHci ones...same same.

A:Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Management Engine Interfa

Welcome,

I don't understand the question. Are you updating your machine? Do you want to reload it? Would you take a minute it fill out your system specs?

Thanks -WS

Intel Core i3-2330M + Intel HD Graphics 3000 = Black Screen
Hi,

first of all, my words of deep and sincere appreciation and thanks for this website. I use it, though only sporadically, for many, many years and always got very professional and useful help here!

Today I am inquiring about a problem that seems to be quite common and wide-spread, based on my own Internet searches: the bad combination of the Intel Core i3-2330M processor and the Intel HD Graphics 3000. During normal operations, my system works with that. But when using render software (POV-Ray) or attempting to play games, then I am getting that famous Black Screen. The laptop still continues to work, but I cannot see anything anymore. Only a restart helps, unfortunately. My online search did not reveal any solution, and having downloaded the "Intel Driver Update Utility", nothing new can be downloaded it seems.

I am speaking out here today about my problem with the hope, that someone here know a functioning solution. I need my system in order to create renders, that is my work. I just recently upgraded my system with that better processor, and it kills me now.

System Specs

Compaq Presario CQ57 Refurbished
Intel i3-2330M Processor
Intel HD Graphics 3000 (Driver)
16 GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium
17 GB free HDD space on C:\

Hi there, has anyone got access to the Intel Management Engine Menu (Intel AMT / MBEX) from the Lenovo T470s (Model 20HF004UGE)? The usual way by pressing crtl + p during the Lenovo logo doesn't work. If you press ctrl + P there?s a short message under the Lenovo logo saying that Intel Management Configuration is started, but nothing happens and then the normal boot process continues. We have already installed the latest version of the Intel Management Engine firmware via Lenovo System Update. Edit: I fixed it! (I was causing the problem myself but uninstalling the chip in the first place when i should have been disabling it instead)

Ok... I looked for about an hour and decided i would have to make a new thread for my specific problem... so sorry if im making my first post in an odd place

I recently installed a NVIDIA GeForce 5500 FX PCI 256MB DDR video card
followed directions as best i could, and disabled the Intel integrated graphics... but my PC insists on REinstalling the intel integrated graphics controller upon restart... It left me alone for awhile and i could run Counter Strike : Condition Zero moderately well (low frames after playing for over an hour) but after allowing my computer to update itself (while using IE to dowload firefox for a reinstall, IE randomly decided my home page was going to be the microsoft site for the day) and since then no matter what i do the computer insists on trying to reinstall the intel integrated graphics thing...

so my question is, how do I make this stop? how do i keep the computer from giving me the dreaded "found new hardware" bubble when im using a FAR superior (REAL) video card already?

is there something i do in the BIOS (i hope not, i dont like messing around in there) or on the motherboard itself?

i have some basic info about my comp in my signature but im going to use "PolSystemInfo" to find all my PC specs and just copy paste them below, I just hope its enough info to help so... Read more

A:NVIDIA GeForce 5500 FX-vs-Intel Integrated Graphics... please make intel go away!

Hmm that didn't happen to me when I put mines in. Did you install the NVIDIA drivers? Try disabling the onboard in the device manager. That?s what I did. There doesn?t seem to be an option to turn it off in the bios (my bios) maybe there is for you however. It isn?t too complicated. Just simply look for onboard graphics or integrated graphics controller or w/e and select disable, but first try disabling it in the device manager. It should be listed under display adapters -> properties -> disable this device.

You should upgrade to DX9.0c...

Is this a good mobo for business set up with a cedar millP4. How about a good brand of memory for this board. It says it will take 533 or 667 ,

Yes, an excellent, reliable board with conservative settings the take you to a operation few employees can screw up.
As for memory, standard brands: Crucial, Corsair, Infineon, or Kingston. If you are buying it yourself, www.zipzoomfly.com with free shipping. We have been in business for 21 years and have been luck enough to never have any of these four modules fail within the 3-year warranty period. All of these are guaranteed for life.

I have two Lenovo T470s that seem to have lost the ability to access any of the Intel vPro options following a bios update using the Lenovo update tool.  When going to the boot menu (F12) there is no Ctrl+P option any more. There is also no mention of Inter MBEX in the Bios menus. During the Lenovo boot screen, I can press Ctrl+P and it will say "launching ME configuration screen" and then it will go into Windows. Full Model Number 20HGS4DJ00CPU i7-6700UBIOS Version N1WET49W (1.28) 7/4/2018

The response of the system (no-boot with the Xeon CPU aboard) is your answer:  NO.  This system won't take that CPU.
Since the system won't boot with the Xeon CPU aboard, it matters not which OS you plan to run.

Hi!

I'm sorry for posting such a horrible mistake. I'll just break it down really easely and hope for someone to be kind enough to resque my stupid ***.

I just upgraded my OS from W7 to W10 doing a clean install and figured out I had to install a bunch of essential drivers all over again, so I though it would be a good idea to start out with my motherboard. My motherboard is a "P45 NEO-F", so I went over to it's support page (link) to download all of the latest drivers and utilities for that model. Then I saw the "BIOS" section, and thougt I should flash the BIOS first of all, for no reason. So I downloaded the "AMI BIOS 4.4", which was the latest one, extracted the files on to a USB-stick, booted the whole thing up, went to M-FLASH in BIOS, chose the "A7519IMS.440"-file on the stick, flashed the BIOS, rebooted and now I get a "bad checksum".

I didn't even take a backup of the old file from BIOS, because I couldn't even think of this not working. Bonus points for that!

So what do I do now, being the sorry sod that I am?

Hi all

Yes, that's about it really...

Advice in a previous thread (many thanks) has got me leaning towards Intel.

So sorry for the silly question, but are they excellent with AMDs too?

I have a X4 965 3.4 GHz and it's running great (for me anyway).

Many thanks to all who give advice/opinions.

Best

A:Intel SSDs - Configured for Intel CPUs or Excellent with AMDs too?

A hard drive is a hard drive. They are not "configured" for any one system or processor or computer. They operate on the SATA standard which all computer platforms comply with also (older drives operate on the PATA standard, but that is an old story!). A new hard drive will work perfectly fine in an Intel or AMD system, on Windows, MAC, Linux, and more.

This is not to be confused with formatting. A hard drive can be formatted specially for different operating systems. And typically new hard drives come preformatted NTFS for Windows. But that does not change the fact that the bare, unformatted drive can work in any system using the same connection standard (SATA, PATA, etc.)

Hope that helps.

Hi,
I have Dell E7470 and I'm considering a motherboard replacement. The board has i7 CPU with Dell Part # VNKRJ . I wanted to ask If the new board with i7 CPU 6050 and Intel Iris graphics 540 (Dell part # YDW8F) will fit on my laptop ?

In addition, If I purchased an i5 board (Dell part # 3GMP2) , will I be able to replace the CPU with the one that I currently have on the old motherboard and get an i7 board ? I'm asking because the i5 board is cheaper than the i7 board.

Thank you

A:Dell E7470 - is it possible to get the new Intel 6050 CPU with Intel Iris graphics ?

While the boards should interchange, bear in mind:
Whatever board you buy has a CPU soldered to it - the CPUs cannot be replaced separately from the mainboard;  they are not removeable.
If the system is in warranty, replacing the mainboard voids the warranty.

Their should be ( on the site where you found the update) information as to what issues it specifically addresses. Most of the time it is advisable to update chipset drivers. They control all the way everything your MB does, from the Ethernet to NB to Sb and ram communication. Where as a bios update should only be done if it specifically addresses issues you are experiencing, or new support for your CPU. This is of course my opinion. There'll be others I'm sure.Fabe

Go to Intel | Data Center Solutions, IOT, and PC Innovation Click on Support/Download Drivers and finally automatically find drivers. This will require installing a small Intel update utility. Run that and it will list any applicable Intel drivers for your PC.

That is what I do for the Intel CPU/Video drivers for my i7 3770 CPU.
