I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Unknown thinkpad bios support and processor upgrade support needed

Welcome to the forum!

Your model is a ThinkPad Edge 15

ThinkPad Edge 15 0319-2AG
i3-370M(2.4GHz), 4GB RAM, 500GB 5400rpm HD, 15.6in 1366x768 LCD, Intel HD Graphics, CDRW/DVDRW, 802.11bgn wireless, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Camera, 6c Li-Ion, Win7 Pro 64

You can get the drivers from the EOL page: https://download.lenovo.com/eol/index.html

Hi Dell
My PC Dell Aurora R4 won't update properly due to it not being on the list of windows 10  creator supported drivers PC from dell. Does anyone one know if dell is going to correct this matter.
This is urgent as this leaves me as a customer vulnerable, due to the W10 System of queuing downloads and there is a security one that is waiting.
I have checked directly with Microsoft Technicians and they confirm this is the issue "No Driver support for Aurora R4 Listed, W10  Creators edition. I have just sent a thinkpad back for repair for the first time in over 20 years of owning  Thinkpad.  I have had 8 thinkpad  series laptops in my time as well as a few desktops and now lenovo phones. I am absolutely horrified with the diabolical Thinkpad support. This is meant to be business level support. I feel like I am phoning up Curry's.  Laptop sent back with hard disk in it and I am being told now that it "turned up without a hard disk in it". Now undercurrent of me lying. Original problem had not been assessed and I still don't have my laptop back after 3 weeks. Customer service agents just tell you anything they want to get you off the phone. I suppose all things come to an end but my loyalty to the Thinkpad brand is probably over now.  I am sure I am not the first. Has anyone else come across this?

Oh, yes. I'm going through something similar over the last few weeks. Here is my thread on it.Been updating it every week. All I ever get is blown off no matter who I talk to. Good luck getting your situation resolved. I'm guessing it was sent to their depot in Tennessee?

Well, I can't really say it's a MAJOR problem as there is no threat to the system or anything, it's just one of them annoying little things. Yesterday, I updated my BIOS to F.43 after being prompted by HP support assistant. Update went successful, loaded back up laptop, and the update is STILL showing as not installed on the HP support assistant. Configuration: 1x Intel Optane Memory Module - 32GB M.2 2280 80m1x M.2 42mm to M.2 extension adapter Problem: Tried installing memory module in P52s chassis, chassis only supports up to 42mm M.2 add-in cards. Purchased aftermarket 42mm to ribbon cable extension adapter to fit the module into the chassis. Attempted to install Intel Optane Memory driver from Lenovo, the Intel Rapid Storage technology application did not report the prescence of the Optane module after the fact. Uninstalled Lenovo provided software, installed Optane software directly from Intel, Intel installer noted that my BIOS does not support Intel Optane Memory. Question: Will Lenovo continue to update the BIOS and will I forseeably have support for the module at some point in the future? What would be the avenue to escalate this issue if it is not currently on their roadmap?

HPSA is the only "one-click" way to do it. Otherwise you have to do what you did and go through and manually compare your installed drivers to the latest on the driver page for your model and OS.

I added a Seagate 18gb drive to my Compaq Presario (9660) but bios supports only up to 8gb. I contacted Compaq TS through web and inquired about flashing bios to increase capacity. They recommended Sofpaq SP9847 so I reviewed descriptive text for that fix. It had no reference to disk support. I inquired again if this fix addressed my problem and received from Compaq "upgrading the BIOS would give you the best chance of increasing the system’s capacity.....". They don't know ! Their 1st-level support doesn't know how to find out ! They support their hardware and customers with this kind of nonsense !! Can anyone help ?? THANKS..............bk

Hi there people,

I'm wandering if there's a possibility of upgrading the i5 3230m that's currently in my Satellite Pro C850-1H8.

Looking at the options available on the socket FCPGA988 and the Intel HM70 chipset there seems to be a variety of the i7's available for use.

Does the laptop support CPUs with a greater max TDP than 35w?
Also does the bios support any of the CPU upgrade options?

Cheers, Nick

A:Satellite Pro C850-1H8 - BIOS CPU upgrade support

In this forum you can find different threads about the CPU upgrade theme.
I found this one:

Paolo and Macius posted some information about the CPU upgrade situation.
As you can read in other thread, the CPU upgrade isn?t supported. Upgrades can be done at your own risk and nobody could say if CPU supported by chipset would be supported by BIOS.
Test it if you want but this is your own risk.

The case is pretty similar to a M92p.    I see on the back the connectivity is a bit less.    Good news is that the 3.2 GHz i5 is new enough to have Win 10 support (since it's a model with Ivy Bridge and not the earlier Sandy Bridge models.)

Dear Lenovo, I have recently purchased Y710 Cube 15-ISH with H170 that support Kaby Lake CPUs (according to Intel's ARK), but requires just a BIOS upgrade. Since it was available only with i5-6400 here, I want now to upgrade to i7. So I want to ask when we can expect upgrade of BIOS on Y710, so I can upgrade my CPU to Kaby Lake i7, which is basically same price as 6th gen but faster. Other mainboard suppliers already provided their customers such updates. Best regards,Adam Strzelecki

Agreed, it would be useful if the Support search included a link to older model (EOL) support that it doesn't find directly.  I wouldn't call it an error, but it's not a very convenient or informative design
This isn't specific to the X200x models.  Legacy/older models are on the EOL site (if they aren't showing up in Support search):

Does the Thinkpad P51s support the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock? I have the Thinkpad P51s with stock Windows 10 Pro and updated to latest drivers and Windows version and installed the latest Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock drivers. Attaching the Thunderbolt 3 Dock to the P51s as described in documentation, it charges the notebook, however, noting attached to the dock is recognized. I've tested with attaching USB flash drives, headphones, Ethernet, HDMI, and DP, but nothing is recognized nor are any warnings/errors displayed in Windows. While the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock is listed as being compatible with the P51s and T570, the notebook order page does not list the Thunderbolt 3 Dock in any of the accessories lists. Lenovo Sales also confirmed that the Thunderbolt 3 Dock is fully compatible with the P51s.  However, I needed to purchase the Thunderbolt 3 Dock separately from the notebook order. What's going on? Has anybody successfully used the P51s or the T570 with the Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Dock? Or is this something I need to wait for full support via a future BIOS/driver update? Or perhaps my Thunderbolt 3 Dock is defective? Thanks,Boris

1. Open Performance Infomation and Tools (Right click my computer and select "properties" Click on Windows Experience Index)

2. Click "View and Print detailed performance and system Information".
3. In the System section, you can see what type of operating system you're currently running under System type, and whether or not you can run a 64-bit version of Windows under 64-bit capable. (If your computer is already running a 64-bit version of Windows, you won't see the 64-bit capable listing.)

I know this has been asked before, but the information is kind of outdated. I was given a ThinkCentre A61 and replaced the original CPU with an Athlon 64 X2 5000+ "Brisbane" and want to get as much out of this thing as I can.
The max CPU currently listed as being supported is an Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 89w "Windsor", but one of the BIOS updates shows that this board supports AM2+ and there was a fix for triple core processors, so I know the info is outdated. In another post elsewhere someone has dropped in an AM3 Phenom II X4 945, which ran fine.
Does anyone know what type of Phenom/Phenom II, Athlon II AM2+/AM3 CPU's will actually work on this motherboard? Will 125w processors work? Help!!

Well, I answered my own question. In case anyone wants to know, as long as you have the latest BIOS for the ThinkCentre A61, any Phenom/Athlon II X2, X3, or X4 AM3 processors 95 Watts and under work fine. It shows as "Unknown Processor" in the BIOS and Windows, but CPU-Z reports the correct chip and has no issues.

For Memory, I already added a 2 GB one : http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3281625&CatId=3409
But I bought another, currently though, they did not have the same 2gb so I got a I GB :http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2485590&CatId=1654 Will these two work together,I noticed they had different CAS Latencies.

Finally one last question:
With this processor,motherboard, memory and:
120 GB Hard Drive

Basically all the components are compatible, as for the memory mixing it with different CAS can be negligible the computer will just runs them at the slowest latency. As for the system requirements for Grand Theft Auto IV:

I have just tried to install Windows 10 but got the error message that my processor doesn't support it.

It's on a very old Dell Dimension 3000 computer that I have been upgrading over time. One of the only things I haven't changed is the processor. However, I'm pretty sure it should be good enough to run it.

It is an Intel Pentium 4 Prescott 90nm Technology 2.80GHz

I did think that I needed to enable something in the bios for it to support NX, but I can't find a setting for it anywhere.

Does anyone know how I can fix it please?

What "upgrading over time" have you done to that desktop?

All the original hardware in it is too old and too slow to run Windows 10.

The Intel Pentium IV 2.80 GHz processor was introduced in early 2002, so it's about 13 years old.

It's a single-core model with a 533 MHz frontside bus speed.

It supports only 32-bit versions of Windows.

It's my guess you're trying to install a 64-bit version of Windows 10 in that desktop.

Why not just upgrade with the existing system? The only thing that cries out for replacement is the 40gig drive. You don't really need more than a gig for decent performance with Vista.

I think that my MOBO can support this processor, but I just wanted to check.

I currently have a Intel Core 2 Duo E660 2.4GHz, with 2GB DDR2 533MHz RAM (2x1GB).

I want to upgrade to an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 2.66GHz Quad Core CPU. According to the ASUS website, my computer can support Quad core.

- Support Intel® next generation 45nm Multi-core CPU
- Intel® Quad-Core

I also wondered how much is the maximum RAM my MOBO can support (can I put in 2GB sticks in or just 4x1GB).

- Dual-channel DDR2 800/667/533

All help greatly appriciated in question #1 or #2.

A:Will my MOBO support a new processor and differnet RAM?

generally it is better just to stick with 2 sticks of ram. So go with 2 x 2gb if you want 4gb. (This is overkill for most applications). 2gb should be plenty.

You should not have any CPU upgrade issues, but you may require a BIOS update. Read: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic75555.html

Multi-processor support - Windows XP Pro supports up to two microprocessors, while Home Edition supports only one.Click to expand...

Am I getting all of this wrong? Does it really mean that a dual core processor won't do crap when dealing with applications in Home, because it's not supported? Or are they talking about two actual processors connected into one computer?

One of my clients owns a Lenovo B590 laptop that requires some help.  This unit currently has an i3-2328M, which I believe has a 'problem'.. potential cache issue?  Dunno, but while it seems everything else is 'good', it certainly does not operate like an apparently identical unit on my shelf.  But he simply does not have the cash to invest in a newer computer at this time, despite my input to the contrary. This seems to be a little 'aged' to consider putting much cash into, IMHO, but since we're in here, if we need to replace the chip he'd like some better performance . So, in and effort to help him out, I've located an i7-3540M in a 'trashed' Dell system we took in not long ago which I'll give him a good price on ($75), and while this processor SEEMS to be compatible with the HM77 chipset in his B590, I thought I should post this here to see if I can get some input on a potential swap. Socket appears as the same (FCPGA988), and cooling system looks similar to that in the Dell (although I don't presume to think it will fit in his B590.. maybe I'm wrong..) .  Anything I'm not aware of in considering this? His unit shows the following info:Lenovo B590 Model WB10141999HM77 chipset8 GB DDR3 SDRAM Possible?

I have a Gateway Computer Model G6-350. It have a Intel MP440BX motherboard with PhonexBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0 (4M4PB0X1.15A.0033.P21) and Pentium II 350 Processor.

I want to know if this motherboard support Pentium III Processor Slot 1 at 500, 550 or 600 MHZ.

Thanks to anybody.

A:Processor Support for Intel 440BX Motherboard

That's a Gateway-specific motherboard, Intel have no information about it on their site. From looking at similar boards you should be able to run a P3-450 (Katmai, not Coppermine), which is what the Intel SE440BX goes up to. I'm assuming you have a very early 440BX board as it came with a P2-350, the first 100MHz FSB processor Intel released.

Hi all, I have a ThinkPad S3 Yoga 14 (specific model number 20DNA00R00). Very happy with it, especially since I put an SSD in. Anyway, my kids are now interesting in using with and got talking about using the touchscreen with a style / pen (i.e. ThinkPad Pen Pro) I found this article https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/acc100178 It says, for the "ThinkPad S3 Yoga 14 (Type 20DN)"  that "Only supported models that are shipped with a notification flyer, stating that ?This system supports Active Pen.?" will work. I really cant recall if my system had the flyer. Does anyone know if there could be more detail anywhere? Its link finding a needle in a haystack.  Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

I've got a ThinkPad 460s that doesn't have have the option to select TPM 1.2 in the BIOS. We're planning on updating to TPM 2.0 and EUFI when we roll out Win10, which is in testing currently, but we need to use TPM 1.2 to support BitLocker on Win7 for now. We have other 460s that have the option to choose from Discreete TPM 1.2 or Intel PTT with TPM 2.0 but this one machine is missing the 1.2 option. How can we change this? Thanks, -Steve

Hello there, I have got a ThinkPad T550 (20CKA00ECD) with i5-5200U which should support AES-NI (http://ark.intel.com/products/85212/Intel-Core-i5-5200U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-2_70-GHz) However, when I look it up in HWiNFO, there is no AES-NI.? I've updated to the nearest BIOS version (1.15), but there are not any options to enable it. I wonder if the engineers of Lenovo could release a BIOS update so that the AES-NI function of CPU would not be wasted? The only change needs to be done is the value of 0x13c, and I think it won't take too long for the modifying. Thanks

Dear Gents As I have very bad experience with RAM upgrade on Carbon, T420 etc. I would like to check if Thinkpads above T440, T450 has such issue? Can anybody list which high spec Thinkpads do not have such constraint? Many thanks Best regards Andy

A:What Thinkpad support RAM extension above 8GB

The easiest way for you to find out the specifications of the models you are interested in would be to search for the Platform Specifications for the models you are looking for.     For instance, to find out the specifications for the T470, search Google for "T470 psref" and the search will return a result PSREF ThinkPad ThinkPad T470, which is a document that will give you all the details of the system you are looking for.    Most of new newer models seem to support 32 GB Cheers,

So, long story short, my computer is in on repair and they came and took it 10 days ago. Its been on repair before so im familiar with the process, however this time, the process have been different and it have made me worry. Last time i had it on repair i was given a number to track the repair process of my computer, this time they have not said a word since they came and took it..Making me worry if it have even arrived at the repair shop. I of course want to contact lenovo support about the matter to make sure everything is as its supposed to, and my computer isnt missing. However, for some reason the recive a call and the chat to a support agent online are missing, and in the email option the email wont send. So im unable to even contact them. Just wondering if there is any other way? or if others had their computers on repair without hearing a word from lenovo untill the computer arrived at your door again 14 weekdays later?

I have laptop ThinkPad x250 - Type 20CM003FRT (i7-5600U/ factory RAM - 8 GB). I've read:The notebok specification says that it is posible to install 16 GB module RAM to the laptop with the configuration as I have. I have BIOS 1.39 (UEFI 1.39/ECP 1.16)The Crucial's official site also says that you can upgrade your laptop and offers the particular model Crucial 16GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM (CT204864BF160B);Moreover, I've read a lot of messages here and on thinkpads.com. Many people have written that they have successfully installed 16 GB RAM to their laptops. Based on the above I've bought Crucial 16GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM (CT204864BF160B). However, when I've installed the module to the laptop it didn't start. After pressing power ON button it flashes keyboard backlight for a moment and mortal silence comes after. If I return its factory RAM (Hynix 8GB HMT41GS6BFR8A-PB) - it works fine. Which way should I dig?

Hello all, I am considering an upgrade on my T510 Thinkpad, but recently I am bit dissapointed, because I cannot find a Thinkpad who supports the newer M2 drives which are round 80mm long. I find the majority of the Thinkpads are supporting the ~40mm M2 SSDs. Is there a Thinkpad with M2, who can support the longer type of these drives? The targets are - T440, T540, T450, T550 and T460... Thank you for your time.
