Compatible Graphic Card for Windows 10 Upgrade

Q: Compatible Graphic Card for Windows 10 Upgrade

Hello, I would like to upgrade my computer to Windows 10. Unfortunately, the system test says that the graphics card is not compatible, therefore, I can't upgrade. I have the Nvidia Geforce 6150SE Nforce430. Are there any cards out there that would be compatible with my system and Windows 10? If not, is there a workaround that would allow me to upgrade to Windows 10? Thank you!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have an old computer i upgraded it from windows xp too Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit. It says my graphics isnt compatible with windows 7, and my screen look pretty big. So I need any recomendations on what kind of graphics card i should get.

A:Graphic Card Compatible With Windows 7 Old Computer!

You'll need to beef up the GFX card and increase the amount of RAM installed

FYI - that mobo has an AGP 8X slot for GFX purposes..

PS: there's a manual available for download here:
PCCHIPS Web Site

it will tell you what the board's specs are, and what type of upgrades you can
make in terms of GFX and RAM - you'll need to ensure that you install stuff that's
compatible with the motherboard's design - so read carefully..

Here's a list of requirements in order to get Windows 7 running smoothly:

My computer currently is running a nvidia geforce gt 220 DDR3 using a PCI-E 2.0 x 16. How would I know what kind of graphic card would work in my computer? Do I just need to find one that uses a PCI-E 2.0x16 slot or do I have to find one that uses that slot and is DDR3. I want to put a Nvidia GTS 450 or a Nvidia GTX 460.

My computer specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2500Mhz
window vista 64bit
650 continuous power supply
8gig DDR2 ram

A:Compatible graphic card

The memory type is not going to affect installation as it
is controlled by the video card itself.
You should have no problems using those cards as
long as there is room in your case.
Some cards are fairly long.
Just check the dimensions first.

Hi, I've been trying to find out everywhere to see if my graphics card is capable of Windows 7. I'm having a real hard time. My card is Intel 945 Mobile Family.

My brother installed Windows 7 and his card was outdated so now everything is "blurry" and not nice looking. He couldn't downgrade so he bought a Mac. So yeah, I'd try it out on my computer if I could fork out 1k to get a new computer, but I simply can't.

The windows update advisor says that my graphics adapter isn't "supported" with Windows Aero. The requirements state that it needs 128MB, which I believe I have 256.

It's getting annoying that the Windows Advisor says that it's not supported, yet Best Buy is selling my same exact computer with Windows 7 with the same graphics card. I'm conflicted; I don't want to mess up my computer, yet I want Windows 7.

Hello everyone,
My father bought a computer with a Nvidia Quadro K1200 graphic card.
The problem is that he already had a Dell UP2715K monitor (a 5k 10-bit colour depth monitor), and the K1200 does not support a 5K resolution (as I saw here), and I had some problems with it (here I did ask for help in the Dell forum).
He likes to edit photos, so he would use the computer only to edit photos and, eventually, surf the web.
Now I'm searching for an alternative graphic card with 10-bit colour depth and 5k resolution support.
I saw that the AMD RX 480 supports 5K resolution and even 10-bit colour depth, but I'm not sure about it and I don't know if it would be a valid alternative.
(If possible he would not like to spend too much)
Excuse me if I was unclear or there are mistakes in the post since English is not my primary language.

A:Searching for a UP2715K compatible graphic card

For what model system?  It would need to be a fairly new system with a very strong power supply to run a card that can drive a 5K monitor.

Hi, You need an UEFI enabled, low profile, low wattage graphics card with a full size bracket.  Sometimes graphics cards are shipped with both brackets.  Your PC only has a 270 watt power supply so your pickins will be limited. I have seen some cards that might work but the graphics card manufacturer's all recommend a bigger power supply. A higher wattage Slimline power supply from Athena might work in your PC. You can use GPU-Z to determine the performance (memory bandwidth) as a place to start from when looking for a graphics card.

I see several threads looking for XPS 8500  video card upgrades that can be used with the stock 460w PSU or upgraded PSU.   However, in upgrading the GPU for this machine, there are some cards that will not be compatible and will result in a black screen.    Even with a proper video card install, an adequate and/or upgraded power supply , the video card fans will be working, but there will be no video.   The problem lies in the BIOS for the XPS 8500 motherboard not recognizing the video card and this is a known issue that has carried over from the XPS 8300 to the current XPS 8500.
There have been vidoe BIOS upgrades from some card makers to correct this problem for certain cards, but there are a lot of legacy cards that won't work.  Safest bet would be to use a newer card with the PCI 3.0 spec.
In the sticky in this forum a link to the current Dell drivers shows the following video cards that are supported with drivers for Windows 8:

A:XPS 8500 compatible graphic card installations and avoiding video BIOS issues

I just installed a GTX 970 into my Dell XPS 8500 with out issues on the first try.
These were the parts:

Updated my XPS 8500 Motherboard Bios to version "A12" while waiting for my parts to arrive
EVGA NVIDIA GTX 970 Superclocked Graphics Card (EVGA 04G-2974-KR)
EVGA SuperNOVA 750B1 750W Power Supply (PSU) (110-B1-0750-VR)

Note, that I choose the "Back Blower" version of the card rather than the double fan ATX 2.0 version.  That's because the case design of the XPS 8500 doesn't have "Great" circulation.   The "Reference" style  (Solid video card shell with a single fan -- that draws air in from the case in... and vents out the back of the PC) is better suited to the XPS.
Putting a new Powersupply into a Dell XPS 8500 is a bit of a trick.   All ATX Power Supplies have about the same Height and width  (150mm or 5.09" wide)  and (86mm or 3.38" high).    The problem is the Depth.   How deep into your PC can it reach  (extending towards the back side of your CD/DVD).   Don't forget, you have that tiny sunken  USB/Headphone jack thing midway:
I did some measurements, and realized that the MAX PSU depth that would work would be about 165mm or about 6.5".     That's tricky because I wanted a 750w plus power supply, and its REALLY, REALLY hard to find a good power supply under with less than (180mm / 7.09&... Read more

A:Graphic Card Upgrade Help

Hi: Since you are running W10 64 bit, I recommend you install 4 x 2 GB of PC2 6400 memory.  Your PC can handle 8 GB of system memory. See the Q965 chipset specs below...max memory size... http://ark.intel.com/products/27732 You cannot upgrade the power supply so you are limited to whatever cards may work within that constraint. Probably a nvidia GT 610 or an AMD Radeon HD 6450 would be as much as you should install. Make sure you get the conroe E6700 and not the wolfdale E6700. http://ark.intel.com/products/27251/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E6700-4M-Cache-2_66-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB Use this handy power supply calculator to see how much wattage power supply you need with your proposed upgrades. The basic tab should suffice. http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator There are no optional CPU coolers that I know of.  If there is no dust clogging the vents and heat sink fins, it is remotely possible that the thermal sensor in the processor is bad (it thinks the processor is too hot and then signals the cooling fan to rev up).

You're going to need a smaller card clearly -- and pay attention to the card's power requirements, as the power supply in these systems is low-capacity.

Your PC is a slimline PC . They are notorious for being the worst candidates for upgrades.   Your slimline PC was delivered with a 270 W PSU. Upgrading the PSU to 400 Watts is not a viable option. A PSU of 400 W or more that has six or 8 pin PCIe power connectors is a base requirement for gaming video cards   If you want to Game with a desktop PC and a Video card capable of supporting 3 three or more displays, then it is time to get a full sized desktop PC.

Are you running with BIOS set to "hybrid graphics" or "discrete graphics"?

Recognizing the impact on battery lifetime while running portable, I'd suggest using "discrete graphics" and installing the latest nVidia retail Quadro Series (notebook) driver rather than using the back-level driver provided in the Lenovo Optimus driver package (both Intel and NVidia) for the P50.

See if that improves your stability and performance results.

I wish to upgrade my graphic card to gt 710 2gb. Do I need to upgrade my power supply too? Does it work with my pc? What should I do?

A:Wish to upgrade my graphic card

Your PC has a 300W power supply so theorotically, any card with 300W power supply requirement would work. However, any card that is not tested by HP would not be recommended. Any damage caused to the PC due to this would probably not be covered. A GeForce GTX 950 also has a power requirement of 350W power supply.http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-950/specifications However, a GeForce 1050 uses a 300W power supplyhttp://www.geforce.com/hardware/10series/geforce-gtx-1050 Remember, this is just information, not a recommendation. Any upgrade would be at your own risk.

A:Can I upgrade my graphic card?

Hi, No you can't upgrade to a different card and noway the GTX 750ti will fit to your laptop physically. Again, no you can't. Regards.

You can see my specs down below and so as said in the title, what do you think the best option would be?

Take in consideration that I mostly use my pc to play games like Dota 2 and csgo and other random steam games but the important fact is that I am eventually looking to play Overwatch and the new Battlefield which I think it would be too much for my gtx580 (overclocked 15%)

Budget 300? (~334$) max. 330-340 (~372$). Im searching to play such kind of games fluently but obviously not expecting to get a crazy amount of fps.

A:Upgrade graphic card or anything else

Here's the problem. The processor is an N3540 Pentium also known as a "Bay Trail" processor. These are lower end processors that are designed to be inexpensive. They are much less powerful than "normal" Intel processors like an i3 or i5. And then the motherboards are made all as one piece so there is no way to upgrade the processor. You could likely upgrade to 8 gigs of RAM but that is not really going to help the gaming performance much. So consider the laptop probably cost $300 or less and you can do Skype and email and internet. It is faster than a tablet, just not upgradeable in any meaningful way. They do run cool and have very good battery life.

Sorry, but there is no "graphics card" to replace on your laptop, because it is integrated/soldered onto the motherboard.

A:graphic card upgrade

even if you did upgrade your graphics card you will most definitely need to up the ram as well, 265mb is nothing for a gaming pc, i suggest you remove it and add 1G of ram to your machine as well as the gfx card.

a pc that old can only take 1.5G of ram and i think its an apg slot for your gfx card.

Could somebody please give me some advice,I would like to install a new graphics card and wondered what a compatible one would be for a GA-7VTX motherboard on a windows XP SP2 system. I know my system supports 4x mode & AGP 2.0 which is backwards compatible to 8x mode cards. I have at the moment a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400. Preferably I would still like an Nvidia graphics card, only with more memory and DVI connection.

For a value you could go with a 6200GT, not to expensive but surely a huge improvement over your current card
Something like this, just for your info, I just did a quick search and there are many more options and price ranges for this card

A:How do I upgrade (not buy new) graphic card?

Hi -

The question is almost a double negative, from what I know !!

To "upgrade a card", you can either hunt for a newer release of drivers, or beg / borrow / steal a newer card.

Since drivers are not usually upgraded on a regular basis, I would go another card ..........

My computer is quite old, I got it when I was in highschool and now I'm nearly a graduate student at university. I am an animation and arts major and the newer Adobe CC programs are giving me weird feedback on my computer when I work (a white block shows up in the middle of the screen when I draw at times), and maybe that can be attributed to the graphics card being too old.

Here is a screenshot of what occurs:
(if it's not because of the graphics card let me know)

My question is, is my system too old to get a graphics card update? If not, what sort of graphics card should I get? If so, then I suppose it's time for me to save up some money from work to buy a new desktop.

A:Can I Upgrade My Graphic Card ?

Hi: Unfortunately not. There are no graphics 'cards' in your notebook that can be removed and replaced like you can on a desktop PC. The GPU is a chip that is part of the motherboard, and the only way to upgrade the graphics would be to replace the entire motherboard with one listed in the service manual for your PC that has better graphics onboard. That would be very expensive and labor intensive to do.

I have hp ac603tu laptop with i5 6th generation with 4gb of ram. It have Intel graphics only. My question is Can I upgrade intel HD graphics with Nvidia or Amd graphics card.

A:Upgrade graphic card

Please identify your notebook with its complete product name or product number. At this point, you have only partially identified it. While logged into Windows, hold down the Fn key and tap the Esc key. That will open a system information Window. Post the product number here in your thread.
