Compatible Graphic Card for Windows 10 Upgrade

Q: Compatible Graphic Card for Windows 10 Upgrade

Hello, I would like to upgrade my computer to Windows 10. Unfortunately, the system test says that the graphics card is not compatible, therefore, I can't upgrade. I have the Nvidia Geforce 6150SE Nforce430. Are there any cards out there that would be compatible with my system and Windows 10? If not, is there a workaround that would allow me to upgrade to Windows 10? Thank you!

Preferred Solution: Compatible Graphic Card for Windows 10 Upgrade

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have an old computer i upgraded it from windows xp too Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit. It says my graphics isnt compatible with windows 7, and my screen look pretty big. So I need any recomendations on what kind of graphics card i should get.

Motherboard: PC Chips M870 V2.0
Graphics car i have: Nvidia standard VGA graphics adapter

A:Graphic Card Compatible With Windows 7 Old Computer!

You'll need to beef up the GFX card and increase the amount of RAM installed

FYI - that mobo has an AGP 8X slot for GFX purposes..

PS: there's a manual available for download here:

it will tell you what the board's specs are, and what type of upgrades you can
make in terms of GFX and RAM - you'll need to ensure that you install stuff that's
compatible with the motherboard's design - so read carefully..

Here's a list of requirements in order to get Windows 7 running smoothly:

I tried to intsll various drivers for VGA but was unsuccesful. Please either tell me an option to intsll VGA drivers on the sytem or advice me a really cheap Windows 7 Ultimate (x86) compatible graphic card that I can get in Ireland or online.
I have free PCI slot on my PC. I read something about AGP slot on internet for cards but I am not aware of them.

My computer currently is running a nvidia geforce gt 220 DDR3 using a PCI-E 2.0 x 16. How would I know what kind of graphic card would work in my computer? Do I just need to find one that uses a PCI-E 2.0x16 slot or do I have to find one that uses that slot and is DDR3. I want to put a Nvidia GTS 450 or a Nvidia GTX 460.

My computer specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2500Mhz
window vista 64bit
650 continuous power supply
8gig DDR2 ram

A:Compatible graphic card

The memory type is not going to affect installation as it
is controlled by the video card itself.
You should have no problems using those cards as
long as there is room in your case.
Some cards are fairly long.
Just check the dimensions first.

Hi, I've been trying to find out everywhere to see if my graphics card is capable of Windows 7. I'm having a real hard time. My card is Intel 945 Mobile Family.

My brother installed Windows 7 and his card was outdated so now everything is "blurry" and not nice looking. He couldn't downgrade so he bought a Mac. So yeah, I'd try it out on my computer if I could fork out 1k to get a new computer, but I simply can't.

The windows update advisor says that my graphics adapter isn't "supported" with Windows Aero. The requirements state that it needs 128MB, which I believe I have 256.

It's getting annoying that the Windows Advisor says that it's not supported, yet Best Buy is selling my same exact computer with Windows 7 with the same graphics card. I'm conflicted; I don't want to mess up my computer, yet I want Windows 7.

Hi guys,

HIS Hightech H155HMF256EDDE1LN-R Radeon X1550 512MB(256MB on board) 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x1 Low Profile Video Card - Retail

For my Dell Dimension 3100 Desktop. IT has one PCI-E x1 slot.

However, after i set up and install all the required software and driver. My monitor shows a black screen.

Does it mean that my desktop is not compatible to my newly bought graphic card?

Stupid question, but did you switch the monitor cable from the onboard graphics to the card?

Hello everyone,
My father bought a computer with a Nvidia Quadro K1200 graphic card.
The problem is that he already had a Dell UP2715K monitor (a 5k 10-bit colour depth monitor), and the K1200 does not support a 5K resolution (as I saw here), and I had some problems with it (here I did ask for help in the Dell forum).
He likes to edit photos, so he would use the computer only to edit photos and, eventually, surf the web.
Now I'm searching for an alternative graphic card with 10-bit colour depth and 5k resolution support.
I saw that the AMD RX 480 supports 5K resolution and even 10-bit colour depth, but I'm not sure about it and I don't know if it would be a valid alternative.
(If possible he would not like to spend too much)
Excuse me if I was unclear or there are mistakes in the post since English is not my primary language.

A:Searching for a UP2715K compatible graphic card

For what model system?  It would need to be a fairly new system with a very strong power supply to run a card that can drive a 5K monitor.

A:Compatible graphic card for HP Pavilion Slimline 400-020l

Hi, You need an UEFI enabled, low profile, low wattage graphics card with a full size bracket.  Sometimes graphics cards are shipped with both brackets.  Your PC only has a 270 watt power supply so your pickins will be limited. I have seen some cards that might work but the graphics card manufacturer's all recommend a bigger power supply. A higher wattage Slimline power supply from Athena might work in your PC. You can use GPU-Z to determine the performance (memory bandwidth) as a place to start from when looking for a graphics card.

I see several threads looking for XPS 8500  video card upgrades that can be used with the stock 460w PSU or upgraded PSU.   However, in upgrading the GPU for this machine, there are some cards that will not be compatible and will result in a black screen.    Even with a proper video card install, an adequate and/or upgraded power supply , the video card fans will be working, but there will be no video.   The problem lies in the BIOS for the XPS 8500 motherboard not recognizing the video card and this is a known issue that has carried over from the XPS 8300 to the current XPS 8500.
There have been vidoe BIOS upgrades from some card makers to correct this problem for certain cards, but there are a lot of legacy cards that won't work.  Safest bet would be to use a newer card with the PCI 3.0 spec.
In the sticky in this forum a link to the current Dell drivers shows the following video cards that are supported with drivers for Windows 8:

A:XPS 8500 compatible graphic card installations and avoiding video BIOS issues

I just installed a GTX 970 into my Dell XPS 8500 with out issues on the first try.
These were the parts:

Updated my XPS 8500 Motherboard Bios to version "A12" while waiting for my parts to arrive
EVGA NVIDIA GTX 970 Superclocked Graphics Card (EVGA 04G-2974-KR)
EVGA SuperNOVA 750B1 750W Power Supply (PSU) (110-B1-0750-VR)

Note, that I choose the "Back Blower" version of the card rather than the double fan ATX 2.0 version.  That's because the case design of the XPS 8500 doesn't have "Great" circulation.   The "Reference" style  (Solid video card shell with a single fan -- that draws air in from the case in... and vents out the back of the PC) is better suited to the XPS.
Putting a new Powersupply into a Dell XPS 8500 is a bit of a trick.   All ATX Power Supplies have about the same Height and width  (150mm or 5.09" wide)  and (86mm or 3.38" high).    The problem is the Depth.   How deep into your PC can it reach  (extending towards the back side of your CD/DVD).   Don't forget, you have that tiny sunken  USB/Headphone jack thing midway:
I did some measurements, and realized that the MAX PSU depth that would work would be about 165mm or about 6.5".     That's tricky because I wanted a 750w plus power supply, and its REALLY, REALLY hard to find a good power supply under with less than (180mm / 7.09&... Read more

A:Graphic Card Upgrade

There is probably no point buying parts for this Unit as the cost effective point is mute. Although I have seen new PCI graphics cards for sale (about $30AUS) there is argument that this is not any better than on board graphics in an old\second-hand laptop. Also there is the restriction of your RAM memory not being capable of much out-put, this would be a better place to make a noticeable difference to your problem although again this is probably not worth the spend.
You can in the meantime download and play some DOS Games like Doom here

If you can find then any more it is s toss up between a HD 3850 and HD 4670, with the edge to the HD 4670 if for no other reason than it uses less power than the HD 3850. Doubt you can find a 3850 anywhere anymore and the 4670 is becoming rare as well (Newegg for example doesn't have them any more). If you decide to go for one check any local shops or try ebay.

Your PC is a slimline PC . They are notorious for being the worst candidates for upgrades.   Your slimline PC was delivered with a 270 W PSU. Upgrading the PSU to 400 Watts is not a viable option. A PSU of 400 W or more that has six or 8 pin PCIe power connectors is a base requirement for gaming video cards   If you want to Game with a desktop PC and a Video card capable of supporting 3 three or more displays, then it is time to get a full sized desktop PC.

That's isn't an upgrade. The 8800gts and 9600GS are in the same performance bracket for GeForce cards... 8800gt/gts640 320/9600GT/GSO - all about the same.

You may see 0~5fps faster or slower depending on the game.

Its a pretty old Mobo with very limited CPU support. Save more money for a future upgrade in a year or so.

You have one of the rare 1% of laptops where that is a possibility. Here is your service manual: Manual The only other "certified" MXM video card which might be a slight upgrade is the AMD Firepro M4000 card, which would require that you buy the card and also a different fan and heatsink. See page 100 of the manual.  Also the difference between the K2000M and the Firepro M4000 is the former has 2gb ddr3 and the latter has 1gb ddr5. Not a huge improvement.  http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=1881&gid2=983&compare=firepro-m4000-vs-quadro-k2000m MXM video cards are upgradeable but the options are not as wide as on a desktop. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-690639-001-AMD-FirePro-M4000-Chelsea-XT-GL-1GB-GDDR5-LAPTOP-VIDEO-CARD-/2... Post back if you need help.

Hi: There are no removable graphics 'cards' in your notebook. The GPU is part of the system board and in order to upgrade the graphics, you would have to replace the entire system board with one listed in the service manual for your notebook that may have better graphics. This would be a very expensive and labor intensive project to undertake.

A:Wish to upgrade my graphic card

Your PC has a 300W power supply so theorotically, any card with 300W power supply requirement would work. However, any card that is not tested by HP would not be recommended. Any damage caused to the PC due to this would probably not be covered. A GeForce GTX 950 also has a power requirement of 350W power supply.http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-950/specifications However, a GeForce 1050 uses a 300W power supplyhttp://www.geforce.com/hardware/10series/geforce-gtx-1050 Remember, this is just information, not a recommendation. Any upgrade would be at your own risk.

I“m thinking about any GT or GTX mobile card. Is the upgrade method difficult? There is a Lenovo retailer near home that can make the operation without losing guarantee... Thanks & regards.

A:Z50-70 Graphic card upgrade

hi avasile,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Looking at page 28 and 75-76 of the hardware maintenance manual, the GPU on the Z50-70 is embedded on the motherboard and there's no port to accommodate an MXM (Mobile PCI Express Module) GPU.

What is the brand and specific model of the GTX 1050 Ti? Did you connect PCIe power connector(s) to the rear of the card before booting? After installing a great graphics card, although I don't know which brand and model you have, why did you lowball on the PSU and not install a decent brand?

It will fit. You don't need to use a low profile bracket. The original graphics card had a full size double wide slot bracket.

I have a Thinkpad P50 laptop workstation. I use to work with Photoshop and I had several crashes even with lowest performance settings. I'm wondering if it's related to my graphic card (Nvidia Quadro m1000m) and how I can bypass this problem. Do I need to upgrade some stuff?

Are you running with BIOS set to "hybrid graphics" or "discrete graphics"?
Recognizing the impact on battery lifetime while running portable, I'd suggest using "discrete graphics" and installing the latest nVidia retail Quadro Series (notebook) driver rather than using the back-level driver provided in the Lenovo Optimus driver package (both Intel and NVidia) for the P50.
See if that improves your stability and performance results.

even if you did upgrade your graphics card you will most definitely need to up the ram as well, 265mb is nothing for a gaming pc, i suggest you remove it and add 1G of ram to your machine as well as the gfx card.

a pc that old can only take 1.5G of ram and i think its an apg slot for your gfx card.
