I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Unsure of error

This may be as simple as changing a setting under My Computer.
Please view attached...

(right-click 'my computer', under the 'advanced' tab, select "settings" under 'startup and recovery' and review settings.

Hope this helps

I keep getting a display driver error and then the computer crashes with the BSOD. It happens quite often but I can't get the error message.

I checked my display drivers and according to the device manager, the drivers are up to date. I believe I have a AMD Radeon HD 7570

I don't know what information to give someone, but please help.

Can you be a bit more specific? Do you get any popup balloon from system trey like this one?

Anyway, the issue is definitely display related. A stop 0x116 is display/graphics failure. And the display driver is not up to date. It is on June 2012.

Update it, but not to the latest. Uninstall your installed latest version of the display driver.

Hey there ive been getting BSOD for awhile since i built my PC and have been trying to fix it myself, at first i thought it was the RAM so i manually tried to do the timings to what the manufacturer said to put them at, was a tad unsure on all the other settings in the menu..

Thinking it could be the graphics card now though I have uninstalled and re-installed all drivers and still no help.

Hi Heaty.

A stop 0x124 is supposed to be a hardware issue, mainly, but some other things are included in its scope, sometimes.

Dont overclock.

Code:
CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz"
MaxSpeed: 3500
CurrentSpeed: 3510
As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.

Was working on a PC where the user logged in using Juno. A few days ago she no longer could get her e-mails or get on the internet. It was giving a script bugging error message. I looked at her IE settings and they appear to be correct. I also attempted to call Juno and they wanted the customer to PAY $1.95 a minute for support of their product. She did have the original installation disk and upon removing and readding it to her O/S, she is now able to connect to the server and get her mail. Still, when attempting to get on the WWW, she gets page cannot be displayed (no more script error message, but not online either). I also checked her dial-up connections (she is using a AC97 Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP) and they were correct and the modem dials fine (obviously as she can send and receive e-mails again).

She has a HP (Compaq) Mobile AMD Sempron laptop with a 3300 Processor 159 GHz and 384 MB of RAM.

Is there anything that I am missing, any tips, or should I tell the person to punt Juno and use another ISP?

Thanks,
Marc Roben

I do not know what it means or how to fix it. Any ideas would be grateful. I had to do a repair of XP, due to viruses and the message has been coming since. People keep telling me to run scans - done them, clean; go into safe mode - do not want to do anything without assistance, in case I do something wrong. I do not know what to do.

I am getting BSOD while surfing the internet. I don't know what might be causing it as I haven't installed any software recently or made any significant changes to my laptop. I have attached the dump files as I've read on another thread. Could anyone please provide advice on this issue?

A:BSOD while using internet, unsure error

Your dumps blame the RapportPG.sys and RapportCerberus32_43926.sys drivers used by software from Trusteer Rapport Security.

You should either upgrade or remove this program.

Your McAfee security software was also involved, it's a known cause of BSODs. Replace it with MSE.

Code:

My microphone, as of last night, as started producing a "buzzing" noise to its listeners. I can't hear it unless I go into recording devices and click "listen to this device". It's a constant buzz, as long as my mic is enabled (I do a lot of push-to-talk in video games). I've tried another headset with the same result. I updated my video card (GTX 960) with no change. Restarted the computer of course, as well. Just trying to see how to diagnose the exact issue before I go buying a new computer case or something. Thanks in advance.

windows 7 ultimate, service pack 1
Pentium dual core cpu
T4300 @ 2.10GHz x2
RAM 8.00GB
64bit OS

and my avg pc tune up software brought this to my attention! it gives me no option to update, install or roll back the driver and cant seem to find much info on the web about it other than the few steps ive tried i.e; Microsoft fix-it (didn't work), uninstalling the driver (made it disappeared altogether without the choice to reinstall, also lost the ability to connect to the internet obviously), also tried a program called "RestoreTCPIPProtocolDriverWindows7" (not sure what it did as it opened a CMD window and quickly disappeared) and finally i tried the winsock method (also did nothing)

 pc pic.jpg   108.26KB

the reason i suspected malware is that i recently used "mall-ware bytes" and found a few things that avg had missed!
also everytime windows starts up a quick command pops up with the MCE icon and quickly disapears (might not be related but has only started doing it recently)

hope the infomation helps and will be happy to provide more! also sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum but this is my first post here
many thanks in advance

A:tcp/ip error 24 potential malware issue but unsure

Okay so you currently cannot connect to the internet and you possibly uninstalled your network driver and you may have malware.

I guess we need to get your internet working so you can head over to the " am I infected ? " section of the forum and have the malware pros help you.

Have you tried going to the samsung website and downloading/installing the current network drivers?  That would be my first thing to try.  Do you connect to the internet via wired or wireless connection?  There are two separate drivers that I saw.  One for wired and one for wireless.

We use Desktop Central to manage our windows updates. I've come across a new error that I have not seen all year. They are telling me it's a Microsoft error and they have no information on it.
I have a couple of Windows 7 machines that have the following error on multiple updates.
An attempt was made to create more links on a file than the file system supports.

Of the machines having this issue, they're not all the same KB. Using one of the machines as example, it's having this issue with 3 updates.
2019-10 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4519976)

2019-09 Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4516033)

2019-08 Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4512486)

Seems like the standard Windows Updates fix's aren't working. Software distribution folder rename, fixit tools, etc. I'm not see this on any of our Windows 10 machines.
Any idea how to go about resolving this? Reimaging is way at the bottom of the list due to these machines being at remote sites.

I apologize for the poor title, i will try to give a better explanation of the issue.

Initially the issue started 3-4 months ago, at which time i was using Windows 7. Around the same time one of my 2 CPU fans stopped working but because my temperature wasn't going above 50 degree celsius i was hesitant to replace any part so i kind of just ignored the issue because every test i ran at the time came back as everything is fine and the only log i could find was Kernel-Power "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."; which doesn't tell me much because i was forced into manually restarting my pc. Around January of 2015, i upgraded the OS to Windows 8.1 but the issue persisted. A week ago my CPU fan died and i replaced it with the EVO Hyper 212 as well as installed a new SSD drive (samsung pro 850).

The issue is hard to explain because it isn't a BSOD with a message to contribute. The timing seems random and not linked to when the pc is under stress (gaming). Sometimes it can happen right after booting, other times it won't happen for hours and sometimes it can happen several times in a very short time period.

Now for the issue itself. I have two monitors, each monitor will pick a random color from the rgb scale and take on that color for the entire screen. Monitor one might be blue and monitor two might be pink, moving the mouse or using the keyboard ... Read more

So this problem basically centers around my computer I use at work, I'll try to provide as much info as possible.

I work on a HP Pavilion Elite HPE with Windows 7.

Basically, the problems began one day after a storm and when I turned the computer on the next day, it said "Preparing your desktop" which is something that never popped up before.

Most of my desktop short cuts were gone and it was like all my data was scrambled, the internet always cuts out and in, but that's something I need to talk to my boss about.

Internet Explorer used to be able to download files, but now it does nothing. Luckily, I have FireFox but there is still trouble.

I can download files without a hitch, but I can only use them from the browser itself. I can't find the downloads as desktop icons or even in the "Downloads" folder. However, I can see them if I click "Open" in a program like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. Even using the Windows Explorer only shows a few things I've downloaded.... Read more

I suggest you post a HijackThis log for examination. The HJT Team will take you through the fix, step by step. You should not try to fix anything with HJT, unless you have been properly trained in it's use.HJT is a tool used to locate "problems".The removal of these "problems" is sometimes much more involved, than just having HJT fix it.The improper use of HJT could also cause damage to your system. You shouldn't make any changes to your system, until your log has been verified as clean.Any changes you make, could skew the results of the HJT log.If, after your log has been cleaned, your still having these problems, post them into the proper forum, and we'll take it from there. It'll be easier to diagnose your problem, if we don't have to compete with the infection, you may have. I'm not really sure just where this should be discussed.
Here's the issue. a week ago I suddenly became unable to get a site to open for me. the site is Slotomania.yahoo.com
yahoo redirects me to the "new" location which then redirects me to "playerio.yahoo.com" which causes me to get
this message " page can not be displayed" check the address playerio.yahoo.com, when I do that the address has nothing
to do with yahoo games. I'm at a loss as to what to do or where to go. I've contacted Yahoo, to no avail, I've contacted Playtika(they are the 3rd party involved here) also to no avail. Others I know are not having this problem, it seems to be unique to some of us but not all.
Also would like to add, this problem is not an IE problem as I get the same thing when I use Chrome and Mozilla Fire Fox.

Hey all, i'm having trouble accessing the url addnewfriends.com and thought it might be something running which shouldn't be. Everything else seems fine but a friend told me on their site that it says the reason I can't run this program is because of my connection. But my connection is 100% fine and working, otherwise I wouldn't be able to post this.

Hope somebody can help me, I'm really lost. :(

Before posting the log, please make sure you follow all the steps found in this topic: Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log <--link And I'll be happy to take a look at it for you. I also need to see a different type of log from Hijackthis: Run Hijackthis.Click on "Open the Misc Tools section".Next click on "Open uninstall manager".Press the button 'save list'. It will open a Notepad file.Place the content of that file here in your next reply. Thanks, for your patience.

I'm not entirely savvy with viruses, malware, or the like. I have Microsoft Security Essentials running all of the time and run malwarebytes periodically. However, my brother has recently gotten infected a couple of times. We run things on the same network and while my processes seem to not be showing anything that should raise any redflags, nor is MSE or Malwarebytes, I felt running Hijackthis still may be a good option because I'm likely to miss things others wouldn't. My log is fairly short so I'm suspecting or at least hoping that that is some good news. Anyway, any help would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who can analyze this and tell me the next step if there is one. When I logged into my computer this morning before anything else a popup for Antivirus8 came on. I had two choices, get genuine or continue. I hit continue, and then the computer restarted. I went into safemode, and ran antimalwarebytes' antimalware. Antivirus8 kept popping up, and I kept hitting the X and nothing else. Couldn't go online so called my sister to look it up online. She went to this www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus8.html and helped me to remove some files in my registry. Antivirus8 doesn't pop up anymore for me, but now explorer keeps giving me this page where the page is grey with a red box that says the request to the webpage had a problem and to either resend request or fix. I don't want to click on anything and make things worse. I'm re-running malwarebytes' and also Avast free edition. But I don't know what to do to fix explorer.

BTW, running Windows 7 64-bit. Mine is not the only account on this computer. This is my daughter's computer, and her account is password protected so I can't get into it. I wanted to post the screencap I took the explorer page I get, but explorer won't let me browse to any photo hosting site so I can post it and then add it here. I even had a hard time trying to get on here!

Any help would be more than appreciated. Thank you.

I went into safemode, and ran antimalwarebytes' antimalwareScanning with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware in safe or normal mode will work but removal functions are not as powerful in safe mode. Why? MBAM is designed to be at full power when malware is running so safe mode is not necessary when using it. In fact, MBAM loses some effectiveness for detection & removal when used in safe mode because the program includes a special driver which does not work in safe mode. Further, scanning in safe mode prevents some types of malware from running so it may be missed during the detection process. Additionally, there are various types of malware infections which target the safeboot keyset so booting into safe mode is not always possible. For optimal removal, normal mode is recommended so it does not limit the abilities of MBAM. Doing a safe mode scan should only be done when a regular mode scan fails or you cannot boot up normally. If that is the case, after completing a safe mode scan, reboot normally, update the database definitions through the program's interface (preferable method) and try rescanning again. After performing a new scan, click the Logs tab and copy/paste the contents of the new report in your next reply. Please download and scan with the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool from one of the links provided below and save it to your desktop.Link 1Link 2Be sure to print out and read the instructions provided in:How to Install Kaspersky Virus Removal ToolHow to use the Kaspe... Hello people, unfortunetly im back again.

New rig new problem. My rig is as follows.

EVGA 122-CK-NF63-TR LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA 640-P2-N825-AR GeForce 8800GTS Superclocked 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

Vista 64 bit home premium

I had a 600W silverstone psu in there from my last rig. The thing burned out, no biggie. So I purchased a Antec 850W truepower quattro.

Now I got the new psu installed and checked and rechecked all the cables and connectors. The computer started voila it was beautiful again. B/C of the psu burnout I decided to be a little bit more liberal with how often i shut the system off. I went out, came home and the computer had been off for around 6 hours. It started up again no issues. I was in the midst of playing some Medieval two total war kingdoms when outta no where *click* and off the rig goes. I waited a second rechecked all the connections and connectors and attempted to restart. All the fans in the rig started for 2 maybe 3 seconds and then stopped. I push the power button again and the computer starts but I get a black screen. Everything is running. The psu isnt even 3 days old and its alive and kicking, vid card is on... Read more

Well first I think this is a hardware issue, and should be in hardware.

Two high-end PSU's dying ? Seems unlikely you got two bad ones; I wonder if the motherboard isn't killing them off.

I'll repair the ones that will let me but as soon as i restart my computer they are gone again. Yahoo messenger for example will not allow me to repair, delete, or open the program at all. Symantic Antivirus is working however most times i right click anywhere a messege pops up saying that symantic must be configured and is waiting to be installed. I am also getting pop ups asking me to download software because my computer is infected. The other programs on my computer seem to be running fine. Oh one last thing, at each restart a message appears saying that ANTIVIRUS DAEMON has encountered an error and must close. I'm not overly computer savvy. I'm sharing this laptop (mine) with two people currently until theirs arrives here. I'm not a downloader or anything; I'm at school and they expel people for it. Anyways, here are the symptoms:

Lots of programs have the "not responding" problem and have to be closed, like Skype and my web browsers. The browser locks up from time to time. My CPU Usage stays up around like 40-60% usually, when it didn't.

I can't run the GMER scan as it ALWAYS gives me the blue screen of death. I have JUST the Attach.txt file zipped and attached.

I want to start with the fact that I haven't downloaded the DSS program that you guys recommend. This is because I have disconnected the two windows based computers from the internet so as to avoid further incursions while I am fixing them. I am currently using my mac laptop. I'm working on them one at a time. I have a Dell, that I don't use much anymore since I go to college and so am not near it very much; which I am working on first and so will call PC 1. The other is my younger brother's custom build which was infected first and will be harder to fix, I imagine; I'll call it PC 2.

Sometimes I surprise myself how long winded I can be. Regardless, my mother who is tech savy found out that the problem with PC 2 is a virus of some sort. I don't know the name. She was recommended to get three programs: HiJack This, Super AntiSpyware, and Malwarebytes. We start up the dell to use it to download the programs and it shows symptoms of infection from the same virus. As it turns out, my brother used my dell to finish an essay for school....and apparently some other stuff.

My mother and I then downloaded the three programs on the mac and put them on a thumb drive to be put on the PC's. This rounabout process is why I haven't gotten and used your DSS program. I can if you insist, but I won't be able to copy and paste the logs anyway. Especially since even if I do reconnect the PC's to the internet the virus prevents the use of... Read more

I can't seem to figure out what the problem is here. Everytime me or my dad go on-line, we usually recieve the same lousy message about an error that internet explorer caused and that we would have to send an error report. This usually happens on only a few websites. I'm unsure if it might be a web problem because my dad was trying to log on to the computer and the computer just shut off on him and he had to restart it. Two days ago I tried Ad-aware, Spyware, and I also ran a virus scan but with no luck. My dad also gets pop-ups and today I tried to run an online Symantec Security check but instead I was kicked off-line. I don't if it's a problem with the internet or not. Oh yeah. This occurs whenever I have two IE's open and usually I have to redial to make a connection.

I did clean out my system of temp files etc. I didn't download any of the free cleaners because I already have paid subscriptions to McAfee and Spyware Doc and Regisrty Mechanic; I hope that is ok. I did not put what type of infection problem I am having because I don't know if I am infected. I have run Hijackthis before and come up with quite a few finds but have always been afraid to delete anything because I am unsure what I am looking at. Hi! I'm not sure what's going on but my computer and internet access has suddenly become really slow. There hasn't been any error messages and have even called Verizon asking them about it. We ran through a series of tests and even shared computers and a few representatives insisted that my computer must have a virus.

Previously, everything was working normally and fine and this was rather sudden. Didn't download any new software so not sure if it might have happened while I was browsing through websites.

Can you please help and determine if it's my computer or an internet connection situation?

Thanks!

The problem I am having is that I do not know what brand my power supply is, and how many watts it is. I had it installed awhile ago by a computer store when my old PSU blew out, and they then installed a new PSU along with an auxilliary PSU. They said that my PSU is 1000W. I don't know if they meant 1000W all together, or my main PSU is 1000W. Can someone please suggest to me a way on how to find out what type and how many watts my PSU is. The label that is usually on the side of PSU's is not there. Is there something in the BIOS that can tell me information about my PSU? The reason I want to know all of this is because I want to see if my graphics card is receiving enough power, because of recent issues.

My auxilliary PSU is connected directly to my graphics card:

- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150205

My main PSU is connected to the rest of the components of my PC.

- Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Also, something that is a bit off topic but, for some reason my "Post Count" went from 500 to 200. Does anyone know why this may be?

A:Unsure About PSU Spec's

There is nothing that can tell you the specs of your PSU. The BIOS can tell you what voltages it is putting out but nothing more. You have to see the sticker.

Regarding post count, see here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic94429.html
