Neither IE nor IEtab in firefox displays pages, firefox alone works

Q: Neither IE nor IEtab in firefox displays pages, firefox alone works

Please help!

Neither IE nor IEtab in firefox will display pages, but firefox alone works fine. I want to access a firefox incompatible site and get the following error:

The instruction at "0x1002d7db" referenced memory at "0x1002d7db". The memory could not be "read".

When I debug, I get a text file that begins as follows (whole file is too long):

Preferred Solution: Neither IE nor IEtab in firefox displays pages, firefox alone works

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Neither IE nor IEtab in firefox displays pages, firefox alone works

Um,thanks for that. Why isn`t IE working seems to be the question.

Try running some antispyware scans in safe mode. The official info here - http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic30213.html

Resetting web settings - Tools>Internet Options>Programs. Click: Reset Web
Settings - (uncheck box for homepage) - Click Yes.

Or reinstall IE - http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_ie_reinstall.htm

For the past two days My Yahoo page which was beautifully displayed in my favorite colors, columns, etc. has been changed to a black and white sheet of typed paper look. Appearance controls at the top of the page no longer work. Mail page looks like a dot matrix computer print-out, B&W also.

Most web pages are now displayed stripped of their colors and beautiful layouts. Again, these look like a typed page, rather than an artful web page.

I used add/remove and uninstalled. Deleted everything I could find on Mozilla or Firefox and downloaded a new version of Firefox 3.5.2...nothing changed.

Any help?

It's possible your color setting just got changed.

If you go into Tools > Options, click on the 'Content' tab.
There is a Font and Colors section, with a button on the right that says Colors on it.

At the bottom it says:
'Allow pages to choose their own colors instead of my selections above.'
If that's not checked, check it, then your pages should go back to normal.

I have no problem accessing web pages with Firefox; it works very well without issues so far.

IE7 started giving sporadic problems with certain web pages about a week ago and it got progressively worse until it now displays "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" on all pages. Also, MalwareBytes displays "Update failed. Make sure you are connected to the internet . . ."

Windows firewall is turned off. We're running Norton Antivirus and I cannot find anything about how to temporarily disable it. I cannot figure out which version it is; but, I suspect 2007. We are not using any kind of "Internet Security", just Antivirus.

IE must work. Many of the sites we use for business will not work with Firefox.

A reinstalled my Win 7 64bit OS a month ago. Since then I've found some web pages do not display the contents of buttons and banners. This happens whether I'm using Firefox or Win IE. I've updated both browsers, updated Flash, and updated Adobe reader.
Tech support from each browser said, "It ain't us".
Here is what I mean:

I contacted the website for this page (an edX course) and they couldn't replicate it; said it was a browser or system problem.
I have experienced this problem on other websites, including the main gmail site.
I think I've screwed up a setting in Windows 7 when I was reinstalling it. Whatever I did or didn't do, is interfering with both browsers (and who knows what else). I've got no clue.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hey guys. So all of a sudden my Google Chrome stopped working. I mean I was using it fine then five minutes later it kept giving "error 102 connection refused" instantly as if it wasn't even attempting to load anything. I can browse the web in Firefox but even then I can't do anything regarding secure sites. Also I'm completely unable to update or install any software that requires a connection despite my connection obviously working (since I'm posting this).

Chrome seems to work in safe mode with networking but AVG is still unable to install as it keeps saying I require an internet connection. Also my laptop which uses the same connection appears to work perfectly. I'd like to think it was a Chrome only issue but I'm unable to view https pages or update software regardless of what browser I'm using. Really baffled and frustrated

Using XP and SP3.

I've tried the following:

- Checking hosts file
- Winsock fix
- Releasing/renewing IP
- Malware etc scans
- Rootkit scans
- Disabling any firewall/antivirus while making sure Chrome is a trusted app
- Ensuring that the browser settings are set to automatically detect instead of connect via a proxy
- Router is not blocking anything
- Uninstalling/reinstalling Chrome

Here's a HijackThis log if it helps:

Hi there,

I like to think I'm quite technical but this problem has me stumped.

IE7 will not display any web pages. When I run IE7 I get the message "IE cannot display the webpage".

I've ran the "Diagnose Connection problems" link and IE7 reports that my internet connection is working. IT IS! I can run Skype, Email, online games etc. so it's def not the connection.

FIRE FOX WORKS! I installed Fire Fox which displays websites no problem - FireFox worked immediately after it was installed.

I have a second PC on the same desk which works fine. IE7, Skype, VNC etc. so its not my router.

I noticed the problem shortly after doing a Windows update which installed several new files (27Mb worth). I've tried going back to SIX different restore points but got a message saying "Could not restore to that point" each time.

Even though I quite like FireFox I HATE to be beaten. Here's what I've tried:

1) I downloaded the 14.7Mb "IE7-WindowsXp-x86-enu.exe" and installed it. IE7 still did not show any web pages.

2) I then installed the update for IE7 (KB928089). No difference.

PS: I ALWAYS reboot after installing ANY app, patch or update etc.

3) I ran WinSockXPFix (before I installed FireFox) but that did not fix IE7.

4) I've ran IE7 with all Add-Ons DISABLED. That did not make any difference.

5) I've done a "Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Reset..." but - yes, you guessed it - that... Read more

Also, I cannot set my home page to www.Google.com. It insists on defaulting to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=74005. However if I click the home page icon it tries to load www.google.com and says "IE cannot display the webpage".

I think the message "The address is not valid" is very relevant rather than it just always showing "IE cannot display the webpage".

Hello everybody.
I'm no computer noob, and most computer problems I've encountered I've been able to solve myself or with information from the Internet.

However, this one leaves me no choice but to humbly ask your help, since I've lost any clue on how to figure it out.

Here's The problem:
For a few months now, ineternet Explorer is not showing any pages.
Whatever page I ask it to show, it shows the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" page instead.
I click "Diagnose Connection Problems", and it finds no connection problems.
The strangest part here, is that Firefox, and any other online programs work perfectly, with no problems at all.

I'm running Windows Vista Basic with Internet Explorer 7.0.6.16575. I'm not sure it's the latest version, but can't check for updates, since the update checker is IE-based, and doesn't work on firefox.

I have Kaspersky Internet Security installed and fully updated on my computer. Made a full scan and found nothing. Tryed turning off firewall, to see maybe it is causing the problem, but no success. IE still showing no signs of life.
I have tried restoring IE settings to default, but it didn't help either.
I have tried playing with the network setting, but nothing worked either.
I've tried connecting through other wireless networks, but nothing ever works.
IE can't even connect to my router.

I've run a DSS scan, and there's nothing there I can see.

Hi,

I appear to be having trouble with my firefox browser.

My operating system is Windows 8.1. I have an Acer Aspire V3-772G which I bought some 18 months ago.

System details:

Processor: Intel® Core i7-4202MQ 2.2GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz
Installed Memory (RAM) 16.00 GB DDR3 L Memory
System  type: 64-bit Operating, x64- based processor

A few days ago my firefox browser, which for no apparent reason at all, just seemed to slow to a stupendously very slow loading of pages. I had recently just been working on an issue in which I posted a thread regarding whether there was a possible virus/malware after google chrome terminated with the following message from Hitman Pro Alert:

Attack Intercepted
'Google Chrome 49' has been terminated to prevent execution of malicious code. Please check your computer for malware and software updates

As it happened, it appeared to be because of a conflict somewhere in the Google Chrome, Trusteer Rapport and Hitman Pro Alert combination, and so the only way was to change the settings on Hitman Pro Alert as advised and shown in my thread:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/611273/possible-virus-or-malaware/

However, there was no malware or virus detected by my own Avast or Malwareware bytes tools, and the tools used as instructed in the thread also showed my system to have none. Also, google chrome works fine, and my computer has not slowed in any way. My fir... Read more

I suppose the title says it all, my computer has some sort of infection where every search in google in both firefox and internet explorer redirect the searches to random pages. Additionally, typing in certain addresses simply won't load where I know the page should work, such as certain links on microsoft.com. Furthermore, I have enabled Automatic Updates and it tells me that it is not enabled even though it clearly is in the settings and going to the update page through internet explorer simply does not work. I have read through various other forums here at bleepingcomputer.com and followed their instructions but nothing has fixed the problem so I figured I'd post as well and start fresh. A huge thanks in advance to whomever is able to help me out. So, where do I begin?

A:Firefox displays blank page

I'add what seems to be the effect of a self-regenerating beast:

I installed OPERA browser and made it default. After a while started to do what Firefox did - blank page for anything.
I installed Firefox again - not as default broser - an it is working. During installation, Kasperskty detected virus activity, but a mesage that it cannot delete some fle appeared.

So, now I have: OPERA as default, FIREFOX and IE. OPERA keeps redirecting to a blank page, but the other two (not default browsers) work...

Any help, please?

This has been quite a frustrating problem. These forums are crippled in Firefox for me, since the "New Thread" and "Post a Reply" buttons are missing. Not just the text or the links, but the actual orange graphic as well. It's like they don't exist. In IE, everything appears. I can't think of a setting that's causing this. I turned off Norton Internet Security with no results.

I did not suspect that this was a virus.  But while Google-ing for a solution I came across a post here that resoved the issue. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/511425/virus-scan-failed-in-chrome/

Based on Chrome support forums suggestions:
1. Even though IE and FireFox can download files I have tried to disable the scanning of download.  via a registry change under MS\policy key.
2. Disable Anti-virus
3. Renaming AVG8.dlls and rebooting.
4. Running Malware AntiBytes
5. Uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome.

My futile attempts to clean the machine:
1. I have tried to disable any toolbars (AVGSafeSearch)
2. Uninstall all AntiVirus appliactions.  I found traces of AVG8, AVG9, Advast, and AVG2104.
3. When that failed I loaded MS Security Essentials
4.  Check for multiple firewalls running
5. Installed new copies of IE and Chrome
6. Ran windows update, just to be up to date.
7. Ran SFC /Scannow
8. Ran SuperAntiSpyware
9. Ran Spybot S&D
10. Ran TDSSLiller
11. Ran HitManPro 3.7

The registry has strange random numeric entries that I believe came from a virus.  I am in over my head and need the help of a professional volunteer.

Nasdaq in thread http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/541399/chrome-reports-virus-scan-failed-on-all-downloads-ie-works-firefox-works helped me remove all the viruses and malware, but I still can’t download with Chrome with the virus scanning turned on.  Nasdaq also believes that there is a problem with ‘Security Center” because FSS.exe run as Administrator cannot report on multiple security features.  The last FSS.log will be posted shortly.

Is it possible to get Chrome to download and scan these downloads?  Or will I need to reimage this machine?

A:Chrome reports Virus Scan Failed on all downloads, IE works FireFox Works

The fact that Internet Explorer and Firefox aren't exhibiting this problems makes me suspicious of Google Chrome being corrupt.

I would try uninstalling Chrome in the Control panel under Programs and Features.

I would then type regedit in the Search programs and files box and press Enter.

When the registry opens click on Edit and then click on Find.

In the find search box type Chrome and then click on Find next.

This should show up as highlighted in blue, right click on this and choose delete.

Do the same with Google Chrome.

Now download Chrome and install it and see if the problem still persists.

Warning:  Do not make any other changes other than those I've suggested.  A wrong change in the registry can result in your computer being unresponsive.

Edit:  I will not download anything to my computer unless I know exactly what it contains.

I am running windows vista 64-bit with firefox 32-bit. This is a reinstalled version of vista on a clean Dell Inspiron 1545 that was completely wiped and redone about a month ago.
Everytime I go to http://www.canadianfreestuff.com the website shows the old, cached version of the page; previously it was always from a particular date, (Oct.15) but has now moved forward to the Oct.17 page. (today is the 19th). Between those occurrences, I had done a windows update. The problem does not change whether I reboot my computer or not.
I have gone into about:config and made sure my setting for browser.cache.check_doc_frequency is at 1, so it SHOULD be checking for the updated page everytime I go to the site, but it does not. I have also overridden the cache allowances to 0, as according to http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries#Browser.
I have also set the Options->Advanced->Network tab to store maximum offline cache as 0MB.

Also before anyone asks, YES I have cleared the AppData temp files, the Windows temp files, and the History->Clear Recent Data->Everything->All Entries option. I have searched my harddrive numerous times for any leftover Mozilla, Firefox, Cache, Temp or any other sort of files like that and found no more, but there MUST be.

I have had this problem previously, before I had to get my hard drive replaced for being old and cranky, but I do not know how it was resolved. I have contacted the webmaster who reports no other conflicts.

Did you check what program the .pdf file is associated with? It may be Firefox is trying to open it.

Go to your Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types - now scroll down the list until you find PDF and make sure it is associated to the Prog you have for that type of file, Adobe Reader, Foxit etc. by clicking on it and it will show you 'Opens with'

If nothing is set, or if the wrong prog is selected click 'Change' and insert the correct prog.

I read Trojan.Vundo might be the reason, but I'm afraid to delete some of the files because of they're dll.

A:Certain Web Pages Won't Load In Firefox Or Ie

It is unwise to muck about in the registry unless you are very careful and completely sure of what you are doing. It would be best to do nothing, since you could very easily invalidate the data contained in the HJT log you have submitted and cause confusion.

A:Cant load web pages with Firefox or I.E.

One suspect is a non-Windows firewall or security suite mis-configured or corrupted. If the former the fix is to configure it for the desired access. If the latter the fix is to un-install it and run the Removal Tool if one is supplied.

Do the browsers work as desired in Safe Mode with Networking?

I also tried setting the homepage to Yahoo, but this never seems to stop loading - the loading page wheel just keeps spinning. I have Windows 7 - 64 bit for the OS and have MSE, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyWare and Spyware Blaster installed which I run every day (except Blaster which doesn't have a scanning feature). They don't find any issues, except SuperAntiSpyware which finds anywhere from 30 to 90 "threats" when I run it. What's the problem? Any "easy" fix?

I've been using Windows 7 since it came out, and up to a month or so ago, whenever a program opened a web page for me, it opened in Firefox, my preferred browser.

For the last few weeks -- possibly since I installed SP1 for Win7 --- web pages now open in IE rather than Firefox.

I'm not talking about htm files that I open myself from Windows Explorer. I have set both htm and html files to open in Firefox, and they do. And I have Firefox set to check that it's the primary browser, and IE set to NOT check.

So pages opened from Windows Explorer work right, but when a web page is opened by a program, e.g. I click on a url in a PDF document, or in a program's "About" screen, the web page opens in IE. And it's only been doing that for the last month or so.

Did SP1 change something? Can anyone tell me what register entry or option I need to set to change it back? Thank you.

A:How to get web pages to open with Firefox?

IMO, that is a choice you cannot make as, in the software it is pre-defined to open in Internet Explorer.

You may try,(CAUTION: i have'nt tried this!) to uninstalling Internet Explorer.

I have a computer that was having a problem with a ton of websites on internet explorer. I ran MB, adaware, combofix... I reset internet explorer and most sites are working now... I installed mozilla and almost no websites are working on it.I also updated the wireless adapter driver as well. I am not sure what the issue is and hoping to find some help here. Thank you very much in advance.

I am using a MacBook Pro. My firefox had randomly stopped loading pages. I am connected to wifi internet and can access pages on google chrome. What can I do?

A:FireFox not loading pages...

Not alot of info on this problem was given to better determine the problem.

But Firefox is not really a "Mission Critical program" have you tried just re-installing it yet?

Its possible a program setting is preventing it from accessing web pages or a bad addon.

Hi,
for the last few weeks I have been having all sorts of unwanted pages on my firefox browser, as I work on websites building I use also opera, IE, safari etc. but the problem is only on firefox. I unfortunetaly went a few time on megaupload and it seems that it all began there... The pages are advertisements, usually pretty ugly and even sometimes with sounds. I tried a reinstallation of firefox without success. I use G data and superantispyware, I also ran malwarebytes, and I can't get rid of those pages. Could anyone help me?

I'm on Windows XP w/Service Pack 2 and Firefox 2.0.0.12.

Firefox takes too long load image heavy sites or load embedded videos. It has the potential to, but it acts like the process of loading a certain page stops another, or something. All I know is that when I go to an image-heavy site like IGN.com, FF takes forever to load, if it does at all. An embedded video I click "play" on will try to load but just keep trying until I give up.
This strange behavior started last week. I unplugged my router because I thought that was the problem. Things worked a little better, but not much. I know this is a firefox problem and not a general internet problem because Internet Explorer loads pages just fine. Even IE Tab pages within firefox load just fine. That's what gets me the most.

Firefox is my pal, and it used to only act like this if I had around 15 tabs open, each with heavy amounts of images to download (not "healthy", I know, but the awesomeness of certain sites will have a whole "pamphlet" open).

I know how to do a clean install if one is needed. What I don't know is if there's any way to save my extensions (and their settings) in case I need to start from scratch.

So, if anyone has advice, it would be appreciated.

Hi. I am having a problem loading pages in Firefox. It shows that the page is loading, but nothing loads. I am also having the same problem in Avant Browser (an IE-based browser). However, IE works fine...

This seems to have started after a recent Windows "Security" Update for Windows XP (KB912919). I tried uninstalling the update, to no avail... I can't seem to get any browser to work, except IE. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.

I have tried configuring my firewall (Norton). But that doesn't seem to work either.

Perhaps it is coincidence, but when I try to update MS Antispyware (beta 1.0) and SpywareBlaster they both stop responding...

Any ideas, so that I may return to the wonderful world of tabbed browsing?

A:Firefox won't load pages

So do you eventually get the "page cannot be displayed" error? And regardless of the page you request? Sounds like IE isn't wanting to share the internet connection. But I'm not sure how to tell you to check it in windows.

Suddenly, about two weeks ago Firefox 10 stopped loading web pages. The "connecting" circle keeps spinning and absolutely nothing happens. I love Firefox and have to say that this is one of the most bizarre computing frustrations I've ever experienced. I have Thunderbird email and may have found a temporary way around it: I right click on "Reload tab" on the website tab I'm trying to access. I have to do it several times for it to connect to the site. I uninstalled FF 10 and reinstalled 9 to see if the problem persisted: it does.
I actually had to use Internet Explorer (!) a few times to be able to access the various websites, and I downloaded Chrome as a temporary stop-gap measure in case FF doesn't work at all. Although I don't want to use any browser but Firefox, this malfunctioning is getting me down a lot; I might be going to Chrome permanently. What can be causing this vexing problem of web pages not loading? [I have Windows 7 Profession 32 bit SP1] Thanks for your ideas. ec

First thing to check is your firewall:

Firewalls - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

Next step:

Standard diagnostic - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

I can't open any web pages in IE 7 or Firefox. I can email, use messenger. but nothing with either browser. The error says "internet explorer cannot display the web page" and in Firefox I get a time out. I have run Ad-Aware, but I can't get it to connect to the Web Update option.

Any ideas?

A:Can't open pages in IE or FireFox

1. Ensure that all Internet Explorer windows are closed before continuing.
2. Click onto the "Start" button in the taskbar and then select "Run"
3. In the Run prompt type command and then click the "OK" button.
4. In the black command window that appears type each of the following lines (including spaces) and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard at the end of each line. Each file that gets reset should provide the message "DllRegisterServer in filename succeeded". Confirm this message before typing the next line of text.
