YOGA 3 PRO: not turning on "blinking keyboard"

Q: YOGA 3 PRO: not turning on "blinking keyboard"

Hi! I got this laptop december 2014, it worked nice until one day it decided not to turn on, instead of this, the laptop shows sleep-mode behaviour (blinking keyboard, black screen) but without waking up. It initiates randomly, key-combination doesn't work, nor pushing windows key. Additionally, if I turn off by pressing the power button and try to turn on again, it keeps to be in sleeping mode. If is turned off again and the one key recovery is pushed, nothing happens, same sleep-mode reaction. I contacted technnical assistance in Spain, they were really kind and quick taking the call. As suggested I restored the system to fabric condicions (when I got my laptop turned on and through the windows 8.1 menu restoring to initial configuration option). It seemed to solve the problem but just for few re-starts. After using the computer about 10 times (I mean, turning off and turning on the laptop), the same problem appeared. I called again technnical assistance, today they are picking up my laptop at home because I'm still warranty covered, I hope to get my 1600? laptop working well again soon. Just wanted to share this situation with other lenovo users who can be in the same situation. In my case, I'm not using this laptop as a primary computer, that's maybe why it took so long to detect/appear this problem. I already tested updating bios, drivers, energy configuration... Nothing worked up to date. I found another person having the same issue (http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/836232-yoga-3-pro-screen-blank-keyboard-flashing-power-light-f... however I hope to have a better end than she had. I'll keep you updated about this situation.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

It sounds like a hardware failure to me. Though not comforting to you, this is the first report of this type of failure I've seen and the 3 pro has been out quite a while. I hope you get a favorable resolution!

My lenovo yoga 2 pro laptop used to work perfectly. I have installed an update from Norton anti virus and shut it down. After that it doesn't turn on but the keyboard lights are blinking. I have tried to reset it by press and holding the start button for 30 seconds and reset button for 30 seconds but none of them did work. If someone had a similar experience please let me know if there is any easy fix for this issue before I take it to the service center.

Good afternoon: My Yoga 2 Pro is unable to wake from sleep -- the power button, power light and backlit keyboard are flashing -- but there is no response to any button. From my research here on the forums and elsewhere it seems as if Lenovo representatives have confirmed that Lenovo shipping defective motherboards on Yoga 2 Pro with early 8gb models. I'm out of warranty now (about 7 [email protected]) and need to know my options: just want to confirm that Lenovo will not take any responsibility despite shipping an item with a known defect. When I called Lenovo support they said no go. I also would like to know the correct updated part number were I to order the motherboard (i7, 8gb) ends in 4988? Suffice to say, despite its flaws, I thought the y2pro was a good laptop, Lenovo customer support has been less so. Sincerely,

Good Question!!! I am 2 months out of warranty and are experiencing the same problem! When will Lenovo take some responsibility for this well known problem with the yoga 2 pro?? I would be keen to know the correct replacement motherboard and how to obtain it in Thailand??

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop (out of warranty) that until recently had been absolutely fine. A few days ago, Windows updated using automatic update. Then, it seemed to crash upon opening Chrome or Edge, and was able to be rebooted only when the screen was flexed at a certain angle. Now, the laptop seems to be caught in some kind of hibernation or sleep loop. The screen won't come on at all, and there is no access to BIOS or safe mode using function keys or a recovery USB. Novo button does nothing. The keyboard flashes on and off (with no capslock recognition), and despite adjusting the screen angle, I can't get it out of the loop. My feeling is still that it's stuck in a weird sleep mode or power setting loop, and that it's not a hardware or motherboard issue. But I can't get it out of the loop. Any ideas would be appreciated; I've looked at posts about similar issues but I'm stuck. Thanks, Rick

My Yoga 3 Pro won't wake up from sleep / hibernation, the only sign of activity is the keyboard lights just blinking, AGAIN! :-(. This is a common problem with Yoga 2 13 models I have learnt, not only from various boards, but also my self, when I returned a yoga 2 13 after 5 days, and got the Yoga 3 Pro model. The laptop is now only 6 months old. I experienced the same wake up problems 3 weeks ago with my 3 Pro, and the shop here in Copenhagen sent it back to service. When I got it back 4 days ago, the service team had just changed "Cinch Audio" and updated the BIOS. It seems like they never really fixed the real problem. Two days ago the computer again had problems to wake up, and now it seems to be frozen in this blinking mode. I I have tried hard reboot (holding the power button for ca 20 secs), but it won't solve the problem. Has anyone experienced the same problem, and any durable solutions to it? If it stays like this, I'll hand it in, try to get it reimbursed and I will gladly buy another computer, but not from Lenovo anymore.

Let me try to explain this; with the yoga screen rotated so the screen is 90 degrees to the body but the keyboard facing down (essentially the mirror to a normal laptop), the keyboard/touchpad are staying on. I have to rotate it so it is only about 45 degrees from being in full tablet mode before it shuts off. I've owned it for a week and it was at least shutting off in reverse laptop roatation until tonight. This sucks because I can't sit it on my lap without my leggs screwing with the mouse pad. Any ideas?

A:Yoga 13, keyboard not turning off until almost fully folded

I'm having the exact same issue.  I have the latest touchpad drivers released a few days ago, as well. Sometimes it seems the keyboard/touchpad disabler function does not work correctly.  When it doesn't work correctly, like above, it will only disable the keyboard/touchpad once within 45 degrees of being in complete tablet mode.

Is there any way to do this? its driving the insane...it gives me more mistakes because I just want to type--I don't want to have to jump up to the screen during a word to pick a number, and it also makes typing word/number combinations almost impossible. If I make a mistake and backspace to edit a word, it treats it as a new word. Simply put, I have a very high WPM and can correct myself and while this feature may help a lot of people it's just not for me. When I try to change it in settings though the settings only seem to be for the onscreen keyboard. I would probably like to then off auto-correct as well.

A:laptop sudenly turning off and LED blinking

Is there another LED that shows when power is connected?

If so, is it on when you plug the power cord in?

If you do have such an indicator, and it does not light up (steady) when you have the AC cord plugged in, you might have a faulty power input.

I have an HP ProBook 455 G1 that won't start / boot. All of a sudden, the light next to the power cable was blinking white.  The laptop wouldn't turn on - no lights, no display, no fan activity.   I have tried the recommended hard reset solution already where everything is disconnected, including the battery, and the power button is held for 40 seconds.  This solution does not solve the problem I'm experiencing with this laptop. I've been troubleshooting it for a few days have had no luck. Through reading fourms, some people had similar issue and solved it by disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard. I have tried this and still no luck. I have changed out the following; Memory, Harddrive, Charger, Battery.  Still no luck. If you know anything that I could try or anything that would help, please let me know. Many thanks

So three weeks ago, I was working on my Yoga 3 14" and popped to get a drink, I came back and the screen was blank, I assumed it had gone to sleep, so hit a key to wake it up. Nothing! The laptop was plugged in, so I know it hadn't run out of charge. After sheer panic, I contacted Lenovo, who told me that my warranty was out by a month, and that I could send it to them to diagnose, and they would tell me how much to fix, then it was up to me if they did or not.One I wouldn't be happy about not having my laptop for a couple of weeks minimum, but also it had all my private information on.I turned to good old google, and stumbled across this forum, and somebody with the same problem.Their solution was to unscrew the back case of the laptop (as mentioned above, my warranty was already out), remove the battery cable, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect the battery cable.I did this, and low and behold it worked. Fantastic!Only for it to happen twice more that week, and approx twice a week since. Then yesterday my brother contacts me saying his laptop has died, just won't turn on. His is the Yoga 2 Pro, I told him to bring it to mine, and I would try what I had to do to mine, to his, low and behold, the same solution worked. Seeing as I wasn't the first person to have this issue, and I'm guessing others have used the solution but not commented, this is obviously a fault with the Yoga range. I'm hoping that Lenovo can address this issue, as I fe... Hi, I have a Yoga 2 Pro and started out to lost power suddenly after I disconnect the AC. This never happen before. So everytime I unplug the power, it shutdown. I tried turning it on without the AC in by using only battery and no luck powering it back on. The only time I will have power is the AC have to be plugged in the whole time. I checked the status power light on the side and is ALWAYS blinking orange/red when the AC is plugged in. It is not solid white as previous in the past. I did change out the battery to a new one as well as a different AC adapter with no luck. Problem still occurs. I believe nothing is wrong with the battery as its says charging and at 100%. I don't know what to do at this point because I cannot use my Yoga anywhere without an outlet available.

I'm experiencing a very annoying blinking/flickering of the built-in 4K display.Have a look at this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdd4UICu_T4On the movie it isn't nearly as bad as in reality. The flickering is only visible with a blue, dark gray or purple color background. White, red or black is fine. The issue appears to be independent of the OS - the same can be observed in Linux or even in the BIOS.It all started after I attached a second screen (FullHD 24 inch using Thunderbold->HDMI adapter) in Windows 10 (latest Intel display drivers as of January 26, 2018).Just after connecting the external display the laptop screen went gibberish but the external display worked fine. After disconnecting the screen and restarting the computer the blinking started. It looks like a problem with the refresh rate. The laptop display behaves like an old CRT display with a low refresh rate I found this procedure https://support.lenovo.com/pl/en/solutions/ht500364 in another thread and followed it but unfortunately it didn't help.  The computer is almost brand new (bought in December, top version i7-8550U, 16GB RAM, 1TB NVMe, 4K UHD display). Any help appreciated.

Hi Neramusis, welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of your Thinkpad?

The only idea that I have right now is why do you try to update the drivers of you computer, specially the Lenovo Power Management Driver.

This are my tips about updating drivers on the Thinkpad:

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers.

I know that this is "trial and error", but I think that updating the drivers may help with this issue.

Regards

Hello, I've had this laptop for a bit less than a year, so I believe the warranty is valid, but I'd like to know if there's anything I can do myself. I was using it plugged in although it had a full battery. I have an Anker power bank that was nearly out of battery, on which I was charging my phone. I thought it supported pass through charging but apparently it didn't, so my mistake. Upon connecting the bank (and the phone) to my laptop, the laptop immediately shut off and I could tell the lights in the room flashed very quickly. Since then (at writing this less than one day ago), the laptop will not power on. When connected to the wall the small charging light turns on and is white. The power button lights up for a couple of seconds before turning off again when pressed. Fans do not start, display does not turn on nor do the keyboard lights. I figured it may have overheated at first, but the bottom was not hot to the touch. There were no signs of smoke or smells indicating a bad electrical problem. I've tried pretty much just holding the power button for different amounts of time (10sec, 30sec, 1min) and nothing happens. I believe I've done something to the battery but I'd like to know what. Thank you.

The only way for me to stop the fans from running while the computer is in sleep mode is to manually power off the laptop. I am not sure why the fans just start to run even during sleep mode since this was not an issue previously.

Hi! I have a YOGA 720-13IKB (8th gen i7, Portuguese model) for about two weeks, so I'm still testing the machine.Yesterday I tried to AC charge it through USB 3.1 Type-C port (#3 in this picture from user manual, since it's a PowerDelivery port and can be used as a AC power adaptar jack, according to this. The thing is... As soon as I plugged the AC, battery status indicator started quickly blinking in amber (3x blinks). I left it for about 15-20min and it was still quickly blinking (the computer was turned off). According to this table, there's no status "Blinking quickly (amber)" while Charging, so I have no idea what it means. In any case, I believe it was charging the battery, because I left it with around 5% of charge before turning it off, and after those 15-20min it had more than 20% (it was slowly blinking white when I plugged the AC on the "normal" port, #1 in the first picture). So... My question is: Is this normal behaviour? Does the quickly blinking amber mean something bad? Quickly blinking usually isn't good, specially in amber, haha. Thanks & cheers! felgy

Hello everyone; Because of this problem, I had a notebook changed with the exact same one, for I'd had this problem since the first time I'd turned on the device, and I never solved the issue on that notebook, though I tried many advised solutions on these forums, youtube etc. However, this notebook have come with the same problem. At first time, it seemed like it occurred less than it did on the previous device, and I thought that maybe those solutions would work this time. But it has become more frequent when I have started to run some other applications. I have tried those solutions again; - I have disabled the battery saving modes on Intel Graphics,- I have disabled the adaptive brightness on power management settings,- I have done the BIOS update,- I have done the driver update (done it before but now I also have the problem of updating the driver since the latest update of Windows 10, I can never install a driver update now)- I have disabled the Windows Error Reporting Service and Problem Reports and Solutions Control Panel Support on System Configuration. Despite all these, the blinking never stopped!!! I have been absolutely mad after all these issues. I don't want to make another change of device. There has to be an absolute solution. Please give me a prompt reply. Thank you in advance. *Edited upon wrong usage of vocabulary, sorry..

Perhaps this has been discussed elsewhere in the forum, but the threads were written rather inscrutably and so I'll state my problem here and hope to receive some feedback.I have a two-month old Yoga 900. Tonight it would not wake up after I put it to sleep. The power light on the side blinked, but no amount of holding it would wake the thing. Also, the machine was plugged in whilst I tried to jostle it from slumber.I googled a solution which, thankfully, worked. Which was: unplug the thing, depress the power button for 10 secs., then plug in power cord and boot again. Aha, this magic trick worked. Nonetheless I feel compelled to ask WHAT KIND OF CRUMMY PC HAVE I BOUGHT THAT GOES INTO HIBERATION LIKE THIS??? And how can I avoid it from happening again. Never had an episode like this with any Dell, Samsung or Mac. Just this jolly two month old Lenovo which I thought was a decent machine until now.Feedback appreciated.

Hello,I'm having trouble since I recieved my LENOVO ThinkPad Yoga 14 two months ago.It is on guarantee.I've noticed that the master fan keeps starting even if the computer is not working at full capacity. Sometimes, it starts right after windows as finished booting! And it's a brand new computer, Intel i7 CPU and 8GO of RAM!The fan keeps working then even if I'm only surfing on the internet or working on word. It's REALLY annoying. I feel like this is already an old computer by it's blowing. My old computer, a 5 years old Toshiba Satellite, doesn't blow so much.I've searched over the web and found that LENOVO had released a new UEFI Bios that was suposed to fix this problem. I've installed it and nothing changed! The fan kept on turning on for nothing else than a gmail home page.I've already asked about another problem on the ThinkPad Yoga 14. It's about a background noise on the built in speakers. Here's the link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Background-noise-on-ThinkPad-Yoga-14-bu...I'm not having a good experience with this Yoga 14. I was looking for professional quality and it is not.Can someone tell me if they have the same problems? What LENOVO is going to do about it?Thanks.Ludovic.

A:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - The Fan keeps on turning on eve...

Hi ludovicfd Can you please post the full model number of you machine and which Windows version are you using?. For example my TP Yoga 14 is "20DM008UUS" and I didn't experienced those issues.  I'm guessing that your machine fan is blowing too much and making huge noise. In my case I can feel more the hard drive noise than the fan, it is not like the HDD is "that loud", but when you are on a quiet enviroment you can feel it "scrattching". Do you want to try first updating any firmware / BIOS on your machine at the latest level ? After that another alternative will be to try to update the driver for the chipset and power. The basic thing for me is to try to update the drivers and firmware this way:- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Lenovo Companionand after that search manually for updates on the Lenovo Support site with your specific model number. Sorry, it is trial and error to see if a driver can fix your issue. If after updating the drivers, you think it is hardware issue you should try to contact Lenovo's Customer Support site Regards

ok so my yoga 3 is not responding at all. my first issue came when my cable was damaged there was a short in the cable and i would have to kink it to make it work one day it stopped working. i bought a new cable and now it wont turn on at all. I removed the back disconnected the battery held power button for one minute connected it back still nothing. I also ordered and replaced the charging port for the adapter. still nothing. what do you think could be a problem? could the battery be dead possibly? if it was dead shouldnt it hold a charge while connected to charger??

Hi guys, I had a Yoga Pro 2 but I got it replaced by Lenovo under warranty because it was having some major major issues. They sent me a Yoga 900 and I am already noticing problems with its connection to my bluetooth mouse. I used this same bluetooth mouse on my Yoga Pro 2 and it always connected fine without any problems at all but with my Yoga 900 it seems that the mouse will be connected for 5 minutes max and then the Yoga 900 will no longer recognize the mouse. Any help is appreciated, this is very frustrating and I have had been having a lot of problems with Lenovo's devices. Their warranty is great but I am getting tired of so many problems for such expensive machines.

A:Lenovo Yoga 900 Bluetooth keeps turning off by its...

Similar problem here.  Yoga 900 just a couple of months old, and I decided to try a bluetooth mouse.  It connected and worked just fine for a couple of minutes and then stopped.  Windows still says the mouse is paired and connected, but it doesnt work.  Turn bluetooth off, turn mouse off, remove mouse from bluetooth devices, re pair mouse and it works for a couple of minutes and then stops.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  I'm hoping this is a Windows problem and not a Lenovo problem, but if anyone finds a solution I would love to hear it.

I got a yoga 710 a week ago. I've used another yoga before. When I flip the screen lid like a tablet, the screen turning off.If I do not open the lid exactly, it's ok, but when I turn it 360 degrees and touch to back cover, the screen turns off.I turn off the "in power options sleep mode when the lid cloused" in Windows. I installed Windows again and installed the latest version of BIOS. Result did not change, screen is still turning off.

Hi! I've got Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Silver (https://www.alza.cz/EN/lenovo-ideapad-yoga-13-silver-d375124.htm), and while I am quite content with the device, my keyboard stopped working. I was wondering whether any of you might know and suggest an online reseller (official or otherwise), where I could get hold of a replacement keyboard. Now, I suppose backlit keyboard versions of newer Yoga laptops will not work I guess, will they? From what I have read Yoga 13 Silver does not have the slot required for backlit, but aside that, will the keyboard function and will it fit (dimension-wise)? If so, what is the voltage and current required? Would soldering a small battery to the backlit cable be a good idea (I accept the fact that I wouldn't be able to regulate it)? Thank you in advance!ck

I bought Lenovo YOGA 51014IKB a while back and when I turn it on I need to wait for 15 minute to use it smoothly and the screen blinks and go black or negative picture from time to time and I don't know why  I send it to the company and told them the problem ..they changed the HD and told me there isn't a thing wrong with the screen that did not solve any of the problems above that did not solve any of the problems above and when I decided to send back again the screen got a crack on it ..it's superfacial and the touch and the display aren't affected but I worry that they will refuse to take it and say that the problem from the crack and not before  so my questions are : 1- what causes the slow startup and the blinking screen? 2- what are the solutions? 3- am I still covered by the warranty or not? and thank you
