Touchpad on my Lenovo u330 touch is not working properly.

Q: Touchpad on my Lenovo u330 touch is not working properly.

The hinges on my computer were askew, so I sent my computer to the service center. After 3 weeks, they returned my computer to me and told me that the top "chassi" and the bottom cover have been replaced. Not sure what they meant, because the people that fixed my computer were not there at the store to explain it to me, but I'm assuming that it's the top and bottom cover of my computer. I was told that the hardware and the software are still intact, because they didn't have to alter anything during the reparation of my computer. The first thing I noticed when I started using my computer again is that it is very slow. It makes that "thinking" clicking sound all the time, even when I'm not using the computer (No programs/files open, long after the computer's startup). The system was VERY slow. It was laggy and irresponsive most of the time. I deleted multiple useless files and download new antivirus software to make sure that my computer is clean. The computer is no longer laggy, but the "thinking" sound is still there (it's there all the time). The second thing I noticed is how my touchpad didn't respond to my click. I can move the cursor around perfectly fine, but I cannot click. Neither with a tap on the touchpad nor with an actual click on the touchpad. The touchpad registers my touch, but not my click :/ Does this have anything to do with the aforementioned hardware/software/harddrive/drivers? (My computer terminology is terrible, sorry). Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, I bought this laptop December 2015 and to my surprise with a very mild usage the hinge has broken about 20 days ago. It is my only laptop and I also work part-time on this. I am really discomforted now. The hinge was always dodgy as it would rock a little but I gave it the benefit of doubt as this happens with quite a lot of laptops but I never imagined that being such a costly laptop, something like this would happen to my laptop. I contacted Lenovo and the assistant said that he will look into the issue and will email me a copy of the issue, but that never happened. I wonder why. I am not sure what else to do than raise a query here. Thanks,Renovatio66

Hi - new to the forum but I see others have had this problem.  The laptop has suddenly developed this fault (left hand side of the screen/hinge coming away).  We  have had the laptop just over two years (John Lewis purchase so we are over the warranty perioid).  I am trying to find out if it can be repaired and who I should take it or send it to. Have approached local computer company (independent) and a company at this website http://www.lenovorepairer.co.uk/ to see if either can do it and how much it would cost.  Has anyone asked Lenovo directly to do repair and can it be done? There seems to be a general fault which others have experienced and commented on - our laptop has been used very carefully so really disappointed with this fault.  I doubt I would get any joy from complaining to Lenovo but is it worth a try?Any comments and experiences welcome.

Dear Lenovo Team, I have the same hinge problem with a lot of users already reported here. I have purchased my Lenovo u330 touch notebook in 2014 July in Turkey and it's still under warranty. I've never dropper or caused any other physical damage on the notebook. The left hinge was broken off during the normal usage (by opening the lid). Last week i've sent the notebook to the Lenovo Service Center here in Istanbul, Turkey but they are requesting 300$ for recover, even it's under  the regular warranty. According to the Service Center, it's a user fault. Please help me to understand how it can be a user fault? I though notebooks are designed for mobile usage and they have lids for opening and closing up. If opening a lid is a user fault then i'd expect to see "Use with only open lid, do not touch the lid never ever!" warning in the user manual. My warranty will be expired in a month and i'm still hoping some help on this. Many thanks.

Hi there, Nmparmar          -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Can you try to:
Make sure you use the original 65W 20V/3.25A or 90W 20V4.5A AC adapter that came with the unit.

Plug the AC adapter in another wall outlet in your house (preferrably another side of the house) - if this works, the original wall outlet that you used before when you got the issue may not be properly grounded.

Perform a power drain by:a turning the PC OFF. Remove the battery & AC adapter then hold the power button for 30secs. When done, reinsert the AC adapter and battery then boot into the BIOS by pressing F2. When inside the BIOS, press F9 to reset default settings and press F10 to save and exit.

Update the Touchpad Driver below:

Synaptics Touchpad Driver

Update us how it goes.

Hi All, Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I'd really appreciate some help from anyone with getting the USB ports on my Lenovo S20 Touch  to work properly. My ipod can connect to my USB ports and the laptop will instantly recognise it and it will show up.  However, whenever I try connecting my digital camera to the laptop via any of the USB ports, it doesn't acknowledge that anything is connected and there's no way for me to load it up. I'd really apprecaiate some help with this asap as I need to transfer some photos from the camera onto my laptop fairly urgently. Thanks very much for looking and for your help. Cheers Steve

I bought an IdeaPad U330 Touch a few months ago, I always noticed it had a pretty bad WiFi reception and overall functionality, the connection drops quite often at 4 or less bars of signal, I tried fixing this by toggling max performance on the power options, this did not work.I tried installing the most recent drivers and all the official supported software, as well as the most recent intel wireless drivers, neither of which made things better.Performance was equally poor on Linux, clarifying that the issue is not with the software, but the hardware. I recently thought about upgrading the wireless card, which I wouldn't have to do if Lenovo would employ care in choosing the hardware that goes into their products, but apparently that's simply asking too much. The card I chose was an Intel 7260ac dual band 5ghz, which is literally the upgraded version of the card I currently have in my laptop. To my surprise that card is not supported. In fact, no 5ghz card is supported on this laptop. This is because of Lenovo policy to only whitelist a few(4) cards, if you try to run your laptop with a non whitelisted card, it won't even boot up, you get a "Unautherized card, please power off and remove it" message.Oh and by the way, my laptop package did not come with a list of the supported parts, I had to find the official list online on the technical manual, which apparently does not come with the laptop itself. So I'm left wi... Hi Sight I was wondering if you managed to find a solution as I'm dealing with the same issue. Thanks for mentioning the technical documentation, without this I would have had no clue where to start. So these are the 4 supported cards that you mentioned: WLAN WiFi 2x2 BGN+BT4.0 Intel 7260BN 2x2BN+BT PCIE HMC WLAN (U330/U330 Touch/U430/U430 Touch) 20200412 NWLAN Intel Wifi 2x2 BGN(tech ready) Intel 2200N MOW M PCIE NB HMC WLAN (U330/U330 Tpuch) 20200048WLAN Non-Intel Wifi 2x2 ABGN+BT 4.0 combo Cbt BCM943228HMB 2x2ABGN+BT4.0 HMC WLAN (U330/ U330 Touch/U430/U430 Touch) 20200221 NWLAN Liteon WB222 2x2ABGN+BT4.0 HMC WLAN (U330/U330 Touch/U430/U430 Touch) 20200225 N You wrote that none of them support the 5ghz band, but is this really the case? I checked the last two and they might be ok. I'll do some more research and see if I can order one of them. Cheers

So I've had my Lenovo laptop for about a year now, I believe the warranty on it is expired now. I don't want to spend money on what I think is a simple repair. When I was trying to clear my storage I fell asleep and my laptop died, it didn't get to properly clear the storage and shut down. Now whenever I try to load up my laptop, this message appears  (If you can't read the picture; The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart installation.) When I click OK, it loads and then the same message appears again. It's an endless loop. I looked up different videos telling me to fix this, I should disassemble the laptop, take out the battery, and hold the power button down for about 30 seconds. I wouldn't mind trying this approach, but I can't find a disassembly video specifically for my laptop and I don't want to damage even further or beyond repair. If that's what I need to do, then getting help here with it would be great. Then I tried opening the boot menu, I did this by pressing FN and F12 when turning on the computer. I wanted to try and run a diagnostics test to try and see what was wrong, but it only gave me these options and couldn't figure out how. I pressed enter on both of these options to see if it would fix this issue, nothing happened as far as I could tell.  I moved on from that to the InsydeH20 Setup Ut... Read more

Touchpad on Lenovo Y510P has come to the point in which is useless at all. I bought the laptop from a friend of mine and he told me about the issue but I thought I was not going to use the touchpad as much so it was fine to me. It was working just fine with some lagging here and there, but now it us just useless. clicking, jumping, lagging all the time. I tried uninstalling and installing a new driver from lenovo and it ended up being a waste of time because it just made it worst. I tried downgrading From windows 10 to windows 8 and it didn't work either. Plus I also tried doing a fresh installation of the latest driver I found for Elan touchpad and it helped a little, but still there. I really just don't know what else should I do  I am currently running the latest version of Windows 10 Home 64bit, and since going back to windows 8 didn't help at all I just don't consider going back to it as an option anymore. Also I did notice that while reinstalling windows 10 the touchpad was working perfectly fine, and I believe so that it was because it was running with a generic driver windows might provided for it to be usefull during the installation. Thoughts?

What state is your laptop on when the touchpad issue occurred? This happens on my fujitsu laptop when charger is plugged in. After a quick googling, found out that I just had to put the "brick" part of the charger to a good distance away from my laptop. Worked wonders! Issue usually happens with replacement chargers (due to voltage or ampere incompatibility).

Not sure though if this was your case.

No idea if this is hardware or software, but I'm trying this first.

I have an Inspiron 1525 laptop running Vista. My touchpad stopped working for some random reason a couple days ago except for the buttons. It might have started working again a while ago, but I just noticed 2 hours or so again that it was working, except for 2 things: I can't do that... uhhh... dunno what it's called, where you click the two buttons together and it does what clicking the mouse wheel on a normal mouse would do... and I can't scroll. The thing on my taskbar that tells me where my finger is on the touchpad has disappeared, as well.

A:Touchpad not working properly

Touchpads are usually proprietary pieces of hardware that have drivers supplied by the manufacturers. Check your device manager and settings in Control Panel (it may be under the Mouse settings) to be sure everything is all right there.

You might also go to the manufacturer's web site to check on a driver, and maybe an update to it. You could always reinstall it, anyway.

A:Lenovo G570 beeps constantly on start up - keyboard and touchpad don't work properly

Shanuka,
Welcome to the forum!

Would you turn off the system and restart and see if you can go into BIOS?   If you get the constant beep on startup and are unable to press F2 (I believe it is F2) to enter BIOS, then it sounds like you may have a stuck key on the keyboard, or the cable for the trackpad or keyboard is not fully connected to the systemboard, OR the internal cables are pinched.   If this is the case, then I think you probably need to contact Lenovo service for help as it is likely a hardware issue.

If you are able to go into BIOS, are you able to move around in there?  You could try reloading BIOS defaults and reboot.  If everything works in BIOS and the problem is only in Windows, then it could be a driver / setting (less likely), but you could try to open mouse in the control panel and check settings.

But just based on the symptoms, it really sounds like either the touchpad or keyboard has a stuck key or is acting as if one is stuck due to the bad cable connection or a short.

Mark

Hi I have a Samsung RV510 laptop and I have a problem with the elan touchpad. It can scroll up and down but I when I click or tap on anything it doesn't do anything. I am using a USB plug in mouse but I am working on an university assignment and I need the USB portal to save my work on an USB key. Before Christmas I had the same problem and I went into the tech support in uni and he said that I had set the left click button to right click function or something like that and he went into control panel and mouse to resolve the problem. He fixed it by doing something in Mouse under Control Panel but I just can't remember what and by the way I have the setting where the elan touchpad is disabled when an USB plug in mouse is inserted. I really need help today if you can ! I have tried to adjust the settings of the touchpad in Mouse in Control Panel but even switching the buttons does not do anything to solve the problem. Sometimes when I start the laptop the touchpad works fine but an indication that is going wrong is when I am scrolling the screen with the touchpad the pop up that appears on screen when one right click appears by itself and keeps appearing whenever on the screen I move the touchpad mouse. After that the tap to click as well as left and right click buttons fail to work at all and I do not know if this is a software problem or is it a hardware problem as I said I encountered this problem already and now it's returned. Thanks

I bought the PC in July 2015 and it had to be returned to HP 3 times! Firstly the hard drive failed in autumn 2015 and was replaced. The keyboard was failing in june 2016 and was replaced. The touchpad was not working properly in July 2016 and was replaced. It is now conveniently for HP out of warranty after more than 1 year and is worse than ever. The cursor is constantly not responding to the touchpad touch and constantly disappears, it also jumps around the screen. The touchpad was replaced in July 2016 and still doesn't work. Occasionally the touchscreen will fail to respond to touch.

I love my Satellite T110-107 but there are issues with the TouchPad.

1). The mouse cursor doesn't move at times. With this one I can get it to move by taking both hands away from the laptop for a moment.
2). The mouse cursor suddenly 'shoots' off to the right hand of the screen.

I've tried changing the touchpad sensitivity to both the minimum and the maximum levels, i've adjusted the 'Palm' sensitivity but nothing seems to help other than by making the sensitivity low which helps a little.

I've also noticed that when the laptop is on my lap, the problem is worse than if it's on a table.

I think that it's a problem with a build up of static on the case.

Any other ideas?.

Hi buddy,

I use Satellite T110 for months now and really and no problem. Everything runs great and I don?t have any problems. It?s really great notebook!!!

So it must be something wrong with yours or installation.
First of all I would recommend updating the touchpad driver. You can download it on the Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

After this you should test it again. Check also the touchpad settings again. There are a lot of settings to improve touchpad.

Hi, I have a strange problem with my inspiron Inspiron 15 (N5050). When I plugged in the AC charger, the touchpad / mouse does not work properly. Sometimes it moves and sometimes not eventhough I have moved and touched the touchpad. When I disconnect the AC charger, the touchpad works perfectly fine. Can anyone give me advise on this? thanks in advance

Hi suneel_zee.
Welcome to the Community,
Have you tried different power outlets? Does this happen in different locations(even outside you house/work)?
I would suggest you to release flea power. To release flea power disconnect AC adapter, remove battery, disconnect all external peripherals(USB devices),press and hold power button for 30 seconds.
Reconnect the battery and AC adapter.Check how touchpad responds with AC Adapter connected.
If the issue persists try a different AC adapter(may be borrow from some one who uses same watt Dell AC adapter).
Let me know how it goes.
Thank You

I purchased my Laptop 8 months ago with Windows 8.  Worked perfectly. Upgraded to Windows 10 after 1 week, and still worked perfectly for 7 months. Now the mouse and the touch screen does not work properly. If I hook up external mouse, it works perfectly.Tried to resolve with HP support, but after getting cut off on the support line 3 X finally talked to support who said it is a Windows 10 issue with their drivers, even though it worked perfectly on Windows 10 for 7 months.Told me it is not a hardware issue, even though it obviously is, works perfectly with an exteranl mouse, and that I would have to pay $100 for him to supoort looking at the OS Drivers.Should I do a wipe, re-install Windows 8, and then phone to get support since HP will not support any issues if you are running Windows 10?Thank you

Hi,

I am using Sony Vaio CS17G with W7 Pro x86. Mostly I use a USB Mouse with my notebook.

Lately, I have observed that the notebook's touchpad has been behaving erratic. At times;

1) Right click menu is opened when clicking left buttons or tapping on the pad.
2) Sometimes, it keeps selecting the files while simply moving around the toucpad.
3) Left & Right Buttons of the pad do not respond.

and so on. The problem looks to be of the drivers.

Should I simply unistall & re-install the Synaptics Pointing Driver for 32bit available here.

The short answer - yes

It certainly can't hurt to give it a go.
Get the download from the link you have posted ensuring that you
choose the Pro version for 32 bit if that is in fact what you are using
according to your spec info.

Use the download link located under the 4 step download and install instructions (download link not seen in provided image).

I would recommend downloading the driver, uninstalling the currently installed driver
through device manager and then without rebooting (so Windows does not get a chance to auto find hardware driver software) install the driver.

Uninstall current driver:
Start Button (Windows orb) -> Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Expand Mice and Pointing Devices -> Uninstall current touchpad driver -> install downloaded driver -> check in device manager that the device is functioning properly

Good luck

Do you use original Toshiba OS you got with your notebook?
I think it must be WXP Media Center Edition, right?
