Thinpad T431s don't detect wifi conectons

Q: Thinpad T431s don't detect wifi conectons

Hello. I have a ThinPad T431s , which does not detect any wireless network, even though the wireless adapter is active . To fix this, I have to connect to the network through the network cable after the connection is established proceed to disable the wireless adapter and turn again , then it detects the wireless networks . The big problem is that it is becoming very common this situation. What could be the reason for this? Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, Have you tried to update your WLAN driver? System Update is a good tool to detect drivers and helps you to update them:https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht080136 I would try that first and if it still has the problem, try to respond with: - Operativing system (x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit)) (See Control Panel -> System)- Product Number (P/N)

Hello allMy HP Pavillion cannot pick up my home wifi. It picks up my neighbours and other hotspot  wifi  perfectly. Every other device including other mobiles and laptops can pickup my wifi but it is just my laptop that can't. I don't know what to do. I have tried restarting my router, even took out wires and put them back in. Still no use. Why does every other device pickup my wifi but my laptop cannot?

'Hello, this is my first post here, so I am sorry if anything is confusing.

The reason why I signed up in this forum is s I can seek help fron those that might know more about computer than me, in order to solve my problem

A few days ago, my laptop was working perfectly fine. But then, I turned my computer off, the next day, everything started up as normal, with Windows 7 Home Premium still in the backgrounds when I am logging in but then, the network connecter won't automatically start. So I was left without internet for a bit. Whats more, I noticed that the taskbar, which was always semi-transparent before, is now white. As well as all the title bars of the programs that I open, turned into blue!

Is computer has always ran Windows 7 as far as I am aware, but e way the taskbar, and the title bars, are behaving, reminds me of windows xp.

I first tried to look up how to solve my wifi problem. I manually opened the network connecter in the control panel, and tried to "Connect to a network". But it didn't detect any wifi servers! Which is odd since I had always used the one my family used, and I am using wifi on that server at this moment!

When I tried to use troubleshoot on my "internet connections", it first showed me that the issue was "The Diagnostic Policy Service is not running" but then every other time I tried to troubleshoot again, it doesn't show any problems detected

And with the problem of the taskbar, I tried to search solution... Read more

has that resoved the issue or not
it maybe the signal is broadcasting on channel 12/13

can you connect the pc directly to the router with a cable and then
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file to the faulty PC and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

Hi - My laptop is not detecting any WiFi. Sometimes restarting solves the problem, sometimes not. Other devices are not having the same problem. In Device Manager, there are about nine device managers listed. The driver software is up to date for all of them. The problem used to be rare, but now it occurs more often than not. Any advice? Thanks.

Hi guys.
Hope someone can help me here as I am totally bamboozled.
I recently purchased a 2nd hand pc that works fine apart from not detecting my home WiFi.
I have a few laptops around the house, and have never had any problems until now.
What I cannot understand is that it detects all my neighbours and nearby available connections?
I,ve connected it via Ethernet direct to router and it works fine.
Any click by click, idiot-proof, advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Good morning. Betweent 2am and 3am this morning my laptop restarted. However when it booted back up I could not get on the internet. I checked my networks and no wifi was there. Now it wasn't like when you use airplane mode and you get the msg that networks cannot be detected. In my case that doesn't even exist. The computer is acting as if I could never get online via wifi. I can only get online using my ethernet cable which isnt ideal for me since I need to be on the go often. I checked my device manager and I see my ethernet and a few other adapters but not the one for wifi. I restarted my computer many times. I went to hp recovery and reinstalled my driver for the network card to no success. Sadly my warrenty had expired last month. I need all the help I can get.

Hi guys, I'm at a loss at what to do. I bought a Lenovo ideapad two months ago and it's been working fine. The other week, I turned it on and the wifi had just stopped working. It doesn't detect any wireless networks so there is absolutely no option for to connect. At first, I thought it was my wifi at home but my wifi connected to my mobile is working fine - I bought it into Starbucks to try and the same thing, no wifi networks detected. I feel like I've tried everything. I've double checked and yes the wifi is definitely on, airplane mode is off,  I've gone through device manager and reinstalled the network driver - still nothing. I also did a system reset and it's still not connecting to the wifi!  I've been having a look on google and it feels like every solution I read on forums isn't working!! Please has this happened to anyone else and any solutions? ThanksRuby

Hi,I'm currently using a Thinkpad T431s, which uses the Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics card. As it would appear, Lenovo comes up with their own drivers for this graphics card, but the last one they released was in March 2013. Meanwhile, Intel actually has one from May 2015. When I go to install the driver, there's a warning saying that it might not be compatible.I've been trying to get Overwatch to work, which many people have said the Intel HD Graphics 4000 card is good enough for, as long as you have the latest drivers. However, using the Lenovo drivers from 2013, I'm just constantly crashing. My computer more than exceeds the minimum requirements otherwise. Does anyone know if it's safe to just go ahead with the latest drivers, or would it be better to just stick with the outdated Lenovo drivers? Thanks in advance

Hello all, I have this J8B81PA#ACJ product named laptop, I had this wifi issue since I have been using the laptop but then I installed updated drivers on Win 8.1 and wifi issue was resolved. Later when upgraded to Win10, the issue began like Wifi signals disappear or suddenly my wifi network doesnt appear at all. After few days updating the drivers from MS resolved this. It has been quite a while and again this issue has begun, my wifi network doesnt appear even if I connect wifi adapter to it the network doesnt show up, whereas all my near by networks are available. I even tried resetting my wifi router to see if my Wifi router has some issues but the problem seems to be in laptop itself. Currently, I either need to use the internet by LAN or by USB/Bluetooth tethering from my Android mobile. Hereby, I look for a final solution to this recurring problem of Wifi. Kindly let me know inputs needed from my side.   Hoping for a help. Hiya TSG forums!

A while ago my computer decided that it would just stop being able to connect to wireless access points. My laptop in the same room is able to find and connect to the modem, but my desktop with a Nano usb receiver (802.11n) can't even see it. My other usb receiver, a D-Link DWA 131 had a similar problem, which is why I bought the Nano. But my D-Link could at least SEE the modem, just not connect. Whenever I tried to connect, even though I was 100% sure the SSID and WPA2 pass were correct, It still couldn't connect. The DWA 131 worked fine on another pc. Anyone willing to help me run through what could be wrong? Connecting an ethernet cable to my desktop is not an option.

Help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I am stumped.

My building has a free wifi service. There are routers on each floor. My computer has built in wireless lan. It will recognize signals from those who have installed ATT's 2wire system, but not a single signal from and othe routers in the building. I am now using a usb wifi adapter which has detected all the signals. I have reinstalled the drivers and tried to connect the wireless lan but it has been unsuccessful. The windows connection software will not work. It seems strange to be able to detect the ATT connections but not any of the buildings signals.

Morning!

I was away for 5 days so switched off my router, modem etc at the mains.

When I returned my Vista laptop could not detect my Wi-Fi signal (was working before), but my iPod and XP netbook could.

I did a router hard reset and that seemed to solve the problem initially, but now when I change the SSID to anything but the default 'Belkin54g', the Vista system will not detect it. Okay, so it's not the biggest problem in the world as can just leave default SSID but does seem a little odd....

I removed all the saved connections settings, but that made no difference.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Sounds as though Vista has that Belkin name stuck in its mind somehow. If you press the Windows key and R together, you could type regedit in the Open box then run a search in the Edit>Find menu for Belkin54g and delete any entries but first, select Export from the File menu and note the name and location of the Registry backup file you're about to create.

Hi,
I just bought an Epson Workforce printer, model WF-3620.
I have a HP desktop that I bought last May. It came with
Windows 8 but I think I upgraded to Windows 10 & I'm not
sure where to find out what the current OS is.

The printer can be connected by wire, but no wire was supplied with it.
It can also be connected wirelessly. Since I don't have a network, the
Epson support said I could connect with direct wifi.

She walked me through the steps of setting up direct wifi on the printer.
Then she tried to take me to where that wifi would be detected & listed
by my computer. However, it seems that the computer does not detect
the printer's wifi. It is not listed. She told me that the problem is probably
with Windows & I need to contact Microsoft.

Well, I've looked through a number of Microsoft's support articles and
not found anything helpful, and I can't find how to contact Microsoft.

Does anyone here know what the problem might be & how to solve it?

Thanks.

The laptop was used 2 hours before the wifi adapter suddenly went "missing", as in no wifi driver is shown in the Device Manager list, and when I try to install the driver, the installation was unsuccessful due to absence of hardware.
Now, this laptop was bought 3 years ago, and this problem reoccurred a few times, each time it just magically fixed itself after a couple of days. The problem usually happens after having carried the computer outside during bus ride, so I'm guessing the hardware component somehow got shaken out of place?
What should I do now to fix the problem ASAP? Thank you!

Every time I restart or turn on my ASUS U36JC laptop (functioning on Windows 7) after shutting it down, I cannot connect to any WiFi networks because it tells me that no connections are available, when I am 100% positive that there ARE networks.

I temporarily address this issue by going to Start >> Device Manager >> Network Adapters >> Highlight "Atheros AR9002WB-1NG Wireless Network Adapter" >> Uninstall >> Scan for hardware changes (which reinstalls the adapter) >> Problem temporarily solved, but passwords for wireless connections I've previously connected to are wiped out.

This isn't solving the problem because every time I shut down my computer, the issue comes back when I turn it back on. I have tried to reinstall the WiFi driver from ASUS but to no avail.

I am a complete dummy when it comes to these hardware / software things. Could someone help? Thanks so much!

guys this one has me stumped cold. Dell Inspiron laptop, very clean software wise, had original mini-card [internal] which could not detect any wifi networks - known good wifi AP's. All the windows checked showed the device working properly but I finally replaced it with one of the better "n" cards out there. Same thing all over again. Put it right next to a working AP, cannot detect a thing. Antennae is hooked up properly.

If I plug a good WIFI stick into USB, it works immediately, no drama.

I have no idea what is preventing this from detecting anything. What should I be looking for?

A:WLAN Mini-card Good, but cannot detect WIFI ??

Hi zapp22,

It appears that the 'Wireless Card' is currently 'Disabled'; please check its status in 'BIOS' and 'enable' it if needed. To access 'BIOS' you may follow the steps listed below:
- Power off the laptop > Power it back on and at 'Dell splash screen', repeatedly tap 'F 2 key' (BIOS screen should appear) > Usually 'Dell Inspiron' laptops have a 'category' named 'Advanced' > Ensure that WLAN is enabled > 'Save Settings' and 'Exit'
(Note: BIOS setup may vary based on different laptop models)

If the wireless card still does not detect any networks in 'Windows', try tapping <Function><F2> or only <F2> if the previous key combination does not work. This is the 'radio control' for the 'Wireless Card' installed in the system.

Hope this helps. Do reply with the finding; would be glad to assist.
