Lenovo Flex 5 - 1570 (Type 80XB) Missing HID compliant touch screen driver

Q: Lenovo Flex 5 - 1570 (Type 80XB) Missing HID compliant touch screen driver

Got this notebook two days ago and tried to use the tablet mode. I realized that the touch screen wasn't working and went to check the device manager only to find out that the HID compliant touch screen driver is missing. While checking, I noticed that Wacom device driver also could not start as well (Code 10). Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? I really would like to use the tablet mode of this laptop instead of having to return it due to the touch screen not working.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I recently purchased the Flex 5-1570 80XB from Costco. When trying to register it on the Lenovo site, as well as the support site, I am told to that the serial number is not valid or to "enter a right serial number" . I tried to find a phone number to call Lenovo, but did not have any luck.

Hello, I just bought this laptop and updated it. Came with a pen and everything, was excited.Touchscreen did not work what so ever. Nor does the pen. Called tech support and they said I had no software warrentey and gave me a pitch on why I should buy it. Regardless, did not help. HID compliant touch screen driver is nonexistant, and I'm assuming that's because of the Windows 10 Update, but I can't be sure. Can someone help?

After an update from Windows 8 to Windows 10, my touch screen stopped working.  Clearly this is a very common problem that has afflicted countless Windows users who did the same thing.  Does HP have a solution for reinstalling HID- Compliant Touch Screen driver?  There's tons of reported fixes on the Internet but the few that looked reasonably safe to me, haven't worked and "HID - Complaint Touch Screen" is no where to be found in Device Manager as it used to be. On a side note, I have another identical HP notebook that survived the upgrade and works fine. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.  TIA

So last night I came home from dinner and my laptop was on the floor. It's fallen off my bed before so I didn't think much of it until I turned it on and it didn't respond to my touch. After some investigation, everything that has to do with the touch screen is gone. There are no setting on the laptop for the touch screen and there is no way to calibrate the screen. I'd like to try and avoid factory resetting the laptop as I do not have a way to backup my system right now. (My family member who helped me with this in the past lives in another state now) I also noticed that the computer itself didn't pick up the serial number... I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my problem but it was very off that the setting said the serial number was invalid. I called the support line (the only one I could find was the premium line, what happened to the old one???) and they wont do anything unless I sign up for their monthly package or pay $130 (plus tax I'm sure) to let them remote control my laptop. I've had bad experienced with this and so I'm not going to allow them to do this. Is there any way to download a driver or something that would fix this problem? I have full access to my computer (besides what lenovo has blocked me out of automatically) so let me know if there is something I could look at and show you for more information. I've tried to search for this topic and couldn't find anything related to this. Thanks for the help.Kass.

There is screen image on the screen even after it has beenclosed or minimized- Ghost effect.(Not sure about terminology).External monitor works fine with HDMI.2 years old laptop. No more warranty. I have opened my laptop, unplugged the lcd screen and lcd cable and replugged everything back together hoping it was a lcd inverter or backlight problem. But nothing changed. The cable looked fine without any damage, and the screen looked fine from the inside. Please suggest if is a problem is with lcd cable or lcd digitzer or  something I do not know. I don't see the point of taking the laptop to repair and getting charged 250-300$ where as I can get a decent new laptop for 350-450$. The two HID compliant touchscreen devices were not working on my Thinkpad X1 Yoga - investigation showed that they were not connected to the hardware. So, I uninstalled both devices - thinking that Windows would fix this at the next update. No dice. 1) How do I reinstall the HID compliant touchscreen devices?2) How then do I enable them so they are connected to the hardware? Thanks! -Scot

A:HID-compliant touch screen device missing

Hi friendsStep 1. The first, you need to check if your Touchscreen has been disabled or the drivers need to be installedStep 2. In Device Manager, check the Compliant Touch screen settingsStep 3. Type in Device Manager in the search box, press enterStep 4. when it appears as an option then click Device Manager. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.Step 5. Now Device manager window will appear.Step 6. Scroll down to HID and expand tree by clicking on arrow head to the left of HID. If there is a red cross next to the entry, right click on it and select the enable option.

I opened my one month old Lenovo Flex 5-1570 to see what is going on inside because what I read / see is confusing and have these questions (I?m aware that my actions may void the warranty): The maintenance manual say to first unplug the battery plug and then remove the battery but I can?t unplug it. The only place to pull the plug out is the wires and I don?t want to apply too much pressure doing so. I also tried to pry out the plug with no success. Perhaps the plug is locked and I wonder if on the attached picture the 2 small holes shown on the top of the plugs socket are the locks and maybe I should put something to press into these holes to release the plug. Anyone knows if the battery plug is locked? For the benefit of other users, as per attached picture (noticed I'm only allowed to post 1 picture only) the HDD includes the bracket required to install the HDD and there is no cable required. Looks like the new HDD just plugs in. Also the manual says to remove 2 screws to remove the HDD but there are 3 screws to remove.

I have two identical HP notebooks that went through the Windows 8.1 'update' to Windows 10.  Oh, how I wish I still had 8.1  :-) Anyway - one made the migration fine and on the other one, the Touch Screen quit working and hasn't worked since.  Going to Device Manager, the driver is gone unless you click to see 'hidden' in which case, it's there albeit grayed out and unusable. From what I've read on the Internet, this problem is almost chronic and lots of people have noted the same problem.  Hopefully HP and Microsoft find a solution soon and if I'd known I'd lose something like this, would have stayed with Windows 8.1. I've tried uninstalling the gray version, tried the HP assistant but didn't want to risk allowing some of the drivers to update, and a couple of other things I've seen on the net but so far, no luck.  I also tried a 3rd party driver from a thread I'd seen on the Lenovo site but it turned out not to be for Windows 10 and wouldn't run properly, have tried updating the drivers individually and manually but so far, nada.  HELP HP.  I'll pay for you to hook up to my computer and fix the problem - just show me the link and how much?  TIA

In just 2 days of laptop usage, the mouse pad has come out. The amazing service center in India (ticket no. HT014716010) said that the glue that held mousepad to the laptop "WASN'T STICKY ENOUGH" and added that they do not support this laptop as its "international warranty" is limited to US and China and I need to take it to your US service center to fix it. $619 laptop, 2 days, and it is nothing more than a junk box to me. Hello everyone. I must say that it is a lovely laptop but the touch screen issue is making me very upset. I called  Lenovo and Microsoft support and those people doesn't even have a bit of knowledge. Many incertain process and lot of doubts in them. But it can't be a hardware problem. I bought it 1 week ago and when I opened the factory sealed box the touch screen worked perfectly! And a few hours later would stop working. No pen and touch input available, no hid compliant touch screen in device manager. I read almost every thread about this complain in this forum. Tried everything without success. The laptop is 99% good.. But without the touch screen is like trash. Hope someone can understand and if there's a solution, please tell me and I beg you send me specifics links or specifics procedures, please don't tell me "go to support.lenovo.com"  or "do a system recovery or windows 10 update", etc. Thank you.

I have a yoga 700 and the  HID compliant touch screen driver is completely gone. From what I understand this is something that has been happening to people using Lenovo laptops/tablets in the last year. I'm sure the only fix is to be shown where to actually re-download the driver. I have gone into device manager and have searched though all of the possible drivers I could find manually. I'm really upset that my lenovo is no longer a touch screen, it's why I bought it to begin with. Does Lenovo actually have a driver it can give it's customers? It's been over a year and most people who have had this problem STILL have it. Please help.

I can manage to get into device manager and 1) disable HID-compliant devices (9) and HID compliant consumer control devices (2) and the touch bubbles go away. However if I reboot the bubbles come back as the system somehow auto fixes itself.
I'm not sure if its a default program installed or what so whatever suggestions or help you guys can offer would be awesome!

Hello, I have had my Lenovo Flex 4-1470 laptop for about half a year now, have always taken careful precaution when carrying it, etc. Recently, Upon touching the touchscreen on the right side and bottom of the screen, I am experiencing these "ghost" or "phantom" touches where I touch that part of the screen and it presses on a random part of the screen. The middle and left sides of the screen do not seem to be affected, however, the top of the screen seems to refuse to calibrate to my finger correctly despite calibrating the screen many times. I have updated the touchscreen driver to find that I already have the best and newest version so that cannot be my issue. I have seen that this was a common issue on the Yoga 3-14, and that there was a firmware fix to this... So far the only "fix" I have seen to this issue is disabling the touchscreen altogether, but I bought this laptop specifically for the touchscreen capabilities. I have not physically damaged the laptop, so I am curious on why this is happening.  Is there a firmware fix or something to that extent or will I have to send the laptop to Lenovo and get it repaired? Any Help would be appreciated --Kaitlyn

The greyed out entry represents a device not currently connected or not functioning.
Touchscreens are probably USB devices so you might check those.  My system uses a Input.inf file as the setup for the touchscreen, but I have a different system from yours.

I've just got the Flex 3 1570, it's a refurbished unit. I was poking around in Disk Management and I see 6 partitions.  Recovery Partition (1GB)EFI System Partition (0.26GB)OEM Partition (1GB)Windows8_OS (C (891.97GB)LENOVO (N (25GB)Recovery Partition (12.21GB)The LENOVO partition is empty, so I really don't know what thats for. Actually, according to Disk Management they're all empty except for the C: partition of course. So it seems as though the system didn't even ship with the recovery image backed up. Is it safe to delete these partitions(particularly the LENOVO partition)?

A:Partitions on Flex 3 1570

I am tring to repartition my hardrive. Unfortunately the partitions I want to resize are separated by 'recovery partitions'. I don't know where these partitions came from. I think when the computer was bought I had the C: partition and the D: partition holding the Lenovo recovery stuff. I provided a screenshot of my current partition scheme, if someone from Lenovo could provide a screen shot of a 'factory-fresh' Flex 3 partition scheme so I can see what is necessary, I would be very grateful.  Thanks,Matt

Hello, I can't find what type of ram comes standard inside of my Lenovo Y50-70 4k UHD - no touch. I would like to upgrade and from what I have read it's best to stick with the same brands as whatever came in the machine. I'm by no means a hardware type of guy so I know very little when it comes to this other than I want to go from 8gb to 16gb. Also from my understanding the maximum supported RAM is 16gb right?

A:What type of RAM is OEM in my Lenovo Y50-70 4k UHD *not touch*

Hi maxshuty,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Yes, maximum RAM supported is 16GB.

Specifications declared from your hardware manual for this model :
DDR3L-1,600 MHz SODIMM Ũ 2 (max 16 GB)

You have 2 slots for the RAM so 2 pieces of 8 GB DDR3 L (low voltage) 1,600 MHz SODIMM would work best for your machine.

OEM certified RAM here on page 91 item 11 :

11 RAM, Hyn HMT41GS6AFR8A-PB DDR3L 1600 8GB Part Number: 11201301 11 RAM, SK HMT41GS6BFR8A-PB/RD 8GB DDR3L 1600 Part Number: 1120270711 RAM, M471B1G73DB0-YK0 25nm 8GB DDR3L 1600 Part Number: 1120208211 RAM, RMT3160ME68FAF-1600 8GB DDR3L 1600 Part Number: 1120245011 RAM, Mic MT16KTF1G64HZ-1G6E1 DDR3L 1600 8GB Part Number: 11201304

Page 46 of the manual describes the steps on replacing the memory.

Hope this helps answer your query.

In Aug. 2017 I bought a new Flex 5 from Office Depot. It sits on an end table next to my chair and is plugged into ac adapter all day. I use it on my lap for web browsing, and some open office spreadsheets. It does not ever get bounced around. 3 weeks after purchase, I come out in morning to find PC will not accept any input. Power on cycle ends up with PC going into diagnosis and repair, which it fails to do. After that it would never go past the initial screen. Office Depot said bad harddrive and gave another Flex 5. The 2nd Flex 5 ran for 3 weeks, and then it also failed. This time the PC got extremely slow, and after power on cycle, it to tried to recover but failed. However, this time it did go far enough to let me get tothe advanced troubleshooting. CHKDSK /F corrected errors on both the C: and D: partitions. The X: partition had errors too, but the partition is write protected and could not be fixed. I was able to use xcopy to retrieve all of my data from C drive to a flash drive. The harddrive seemed to work fine, but it failed trying to do a RESET with save data, and a full RESET. It seemed to be due to the X: errors. Once again Office Depot decided to give me a new Flex 5. My current Flex 5 has been running fine since early November, until it started running slower on Monday night, and Tuesday morning it quit. Once again it goes into diagnostics mode, then repair mode, and then says repair failed.  CHKDSK found and corrected errors on the C :... Read more
