Q: Skype doesn't save password


I've recently changed my Skype password to something as v$*irFvKN9jl but everytime when I start Skype I have to login by entering my username and password, can I make it automatic because searching for the password in LastPass is a bit annoying.

Preferred Solution: Skype doesn't save password

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

An issue with Outlook 2007 in combination with my Microsoft Exchange e-mail account was that it couldn't remember the password and I had to enter it every time I started Outlook. This was solved by adding a credential through 'control user passwords2', a workaround which can be found on several sites.

However, this doesn't seem to work anymore using Outlook 2010 with Windows 7. Or at least it seems to work different, but I can't get it to work. Outlook itself creates a generic credential in the form of MS.Outlook:<USERNAME>@<EXCHANGESERVER>:PUT, but on another website I found the form MS.Outlook:<E-MAILADDRESS>@<EXCHANGESERVER>:PUT
It also creates two Windows credentials, one with the username also as server and one with the correct exchange server, username and password.
What should I add to make Outlook remember my password?

I also tried some other workarounds for previous versions of Outlook, but they all didn't work. I tried these:

I try itself, it's ferry simpel. Open Outlook 2010.
Than comming the dialoog box whit your nickname and password.
Delete your nickname and password. So that is blank. Than click the "Remember password". And click on the "Save"button. And close Outlook 2010.
Than open Outlook 2010 again. Than is not show more the dialoog box.

Hi all, I'm sorry to be making another thread about Skype, but this site seems to be the best place for me to get help. The Skype official support forum really sucks.

Anyway, I just wanted to know how I can backup all of the chat messages I've sent to my friends on Skype and see the history of everything I've sent them such as the photos I've sent to them as well as the "instant messaging text".

So I thought I'd give Skype a go last night. Called a friend and while the picture was fine he couldn't hear me. I couldn't hear him either but I'm sure that something on his side as my laptop plays music just fine. Anyone have a checklist of sorts that I can use to trouble shoot my sound/mic problems?

so, I have just tried to sign in to skype, but I keep getting the notification: password incorrect. Even after going through the motions of requesting a new password, this message comes up. I have even uninstalled/reinstalled skype, just to make sure I have

I changed password for my Skype account reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed today and after all I spend some time to find out that this operation also changed password for my [email protected] account. I can now log in using [email protected] account only with

Recently put together a PC for a friend at work based on XFX GeForce8200 Motherboard, Phenon 9500 Quad, XFX 9600 GSO Video, 8 gigs memory and Vista x64 (Home Premium).

System worked fine, all the current updates before it left work. The only thing I did not test was the playback of a DVD. Now, a few weeks later, when he puts any DVD movie in the drive (Lite-On Sata DVD Burner w/ lightscribe) it will not auto-start movie.

If he manually goes to Media Player and selects the DVD drive, he is getting a skype I/O error and the system locks up. Skype was loaded after the build by the owner. He reports that the skype did work.

I've done some searching for this error with no luck...not sure what to think, especially since I don't have the system here to troubleshoot at this time (he is hoping that I get lucky enough to find some help with this and he can fix it at home).

I would really appreciate any suggestions as this one is "way new" to me...

I got my hands on the system today and thought I'd share what I found, just to share and possibly save someone else some time if they see something similar.

Went to start the system and it wouldn't. Did a restore and on investigating the "repairs" found that the registry was corrupted. After the restore, I did a scan w/ Malwaraebytes and found that the system was infected.

Did a clean, rescanned and checked out everything...

All is good with the system now...

Hi,I have B50-80 80LT laptop. Several weeks ago its built-in camera stopped working on skype and since that time I couldn't manage to make it work again. Later I installed 'Lenovo Settings' application from the Windows store and on that application camera works without problem but on the skype it doesn't work anymore. I deleted and installed the skype and camera drivers again but it didn't work. I think the reason camera stopped working is windows 10 or skype update at that time because I remember they were updated themselves before camera stopped working. ?This is the situation when I open up the camera on skype. It shows loading always. I will be appreciated if you help me.Thank you.

If you lose your skype password. Skype Tech support is worse than useless. There has been an ongoing problem that they won't acknowledge where the password recovery email either takes 8-24 hours to arrive (and it expires in 6 hours) Or it never comes at all. If you manage to get a live chat with a human they will use the exact same recovery method, You can plead, beg, cry and scream and they will refuse to send you an immediate email "For your Protection". Bizarrely, any other email from the Skype.com domain usually arrives instantly. Which suggests to me that yes, my email is in fact set up correctly and is not blocking emails from Skype.  I've witnessed this with multiple people and multiple Skype Accounts. We can't *all* be doing it wrong.
There are several utilities on the web, but I'm not sure what I can trust. The free ones that I've found stink of malware. I'm supposed to download a special tool to enable the download? WTF!? I don't think so!
I'm willing to pay for a utility provided it's Portable.
I already have 4 people waiting for a solution to this in addition to myself. I consider myself an experienced computer tech and I'm considered a miracle worker by people in my neighborhood, but this is a nut that I just can't crack.

I am trying to instal skype in the new ipad but wasn´t able to.
I thought I had forgotten my password and asked for a new one.
Each time they send the password token I do all I can to type, copy+paste, enter link etc to enter skype, to no avail!
Now I have invalidated my connection to skype on my pc and still I cannot access a new passwrod. keeps saying the "code" used ( the one sent by skype to my email) is invalid!
Now what!

I'm a new Skype user (Skype Portable) and the only way I can get Skype to remember my password is to not sign out but use the Quit Skype option when right-clicking the taskbar entry. I found this by doing a global search.

Doing this leaves me signed in to Skype (Task Manager shows the two Skype entries), so I'm wondering if this could be a problem, security wise.

Also, if anyone does know of a way to get Skype to actually remember the password, maybe adding a line to an ini file (appinfo.ini ?) I'd sure like to know.

My mother-in-law was here recently helping my family with the birth of our new child.  After three weeks of using our computer, she suddenly wasn't able to sign into Skype.  Her password had been changed.  Then as we tried to reset the password we discovered her email address had been deleted.  She had just accessed and used her email the day before.  Her information was definitely stolen and I feel it was probably logged while using our computer.  The reason is that prior to her arrival my wife and I have noticed many pop-ups, especially when using Google Chrome.  Since we are living in China and I tire of being unable to access several websites, I had attempted to download a VPN browser software that a friend was using, and it was free of spyware/malware.  But in my haste, I downloaded and installed the software from a location that I am sure had spyware/malware software attached..  so now, I beg, please, help!

Every time I click a link to be opened with an external software, its asks me if it wants to use a certain program. It asks for it every time, even tough i check "always open these types of links with the associated app". Is there anyway to save my preference?

When I log in to any page that requires a password, I usually click "yes" to saving my password in IE 7. However, when I return to the page, it doesn't remember it. This happens on every site, e.g eBay or my email, or anything. I've reset the settings, but no change. If I click "remember me" on some sites, it will remember the username or e-mail, but not the password.

I've got an older laptop which I've updated to IE 7 on there, but I don't have the same problem :S. What do I do? Is this a problem with the laptop or IE 7? And I think I'm having the same problem with Live Messenger, where it doesn't remember my log in ID after I shut down. Are the two related?

Hi,I use internet explorer 9 and just recently it stopped saving my browsing history. The amount of disk space is set to 250 mb and is set to save for 30 days. I know the "delete browsing on exit" box is unchecked as well. I've tried deleting my old history, cookies, and temporary internet files but my history still isn't saving! When I uncheck "enable protected mode" in my security settings my browsing history starts to save again. Is there a way to get my browsing history to save without unchecking "enable protected mode"? Hi tim.
If this is only a problem in word, with word\office closed, locate and delete the "normal.dot" file. When you launch word, it will create a new one.
Make sure you have "Show Hidden Files and Folders" selected via Tools>Folder Options>View tab in explorer as the file is hidden by default. If it doesn't work, it's probably an add-in causing the problem.

When Vista Ultimate is shut down, all input is lost including changes, additions to the Desktop. Should I do a re-install (original disc, no service pacs), or another solution? Maybe go onwards with W7 ($$$) - if W7, should I do upgrade or clean install - re-format HD? If W7 and clean install, can I use upgrade package (is it actually a 'full' package) and use previous Vista disc as reference (insert disc when asked as in some previous versions)?

I am using Windows 7 and many times I change settings in saved remote desktop connections and they will not update. For instance I change the connection ip address and save as and overwrite the profile. I go back and edit and the old ip is there. Such a simple task and yet windows cannot save the information. Anyone have this problem?

You might want to see if you can create a shortcut for the Remote Desktop program and then make the mods to it and then use
the save as option to another name so that the next time you click on that shortcut, it should be as you changed it.

In my power options I have my own setting.
It's very simple it basically just says to never put the computer to sleep and to never turn off the display.
Despite this the monitor is always turned of after a while.

An employee is trying to "save as" an Excel file and it won't work, he clicks save as and tries to select the folder and he said it "blanks out" on him. He was able to save the file under a different name in the same folder. He is doing that now and then will attempt to move it. He's using Windows XP Home and Excel 2003.

Hello, IE 8 USED to store all my login credentials for all my favorite websites. Then one day, it simply stopped. Every time I log in I have to put in my user name and password. It then promts me to "save my password" and of course I say yes. Then if I close the browser and reopen it it's like I have never been to the site. I have set all my Internet Options to the lowest possible setting and allowed everything under the sun to be stored (not forever, im not stupid but to see if it would work). It doesn't. I'm ready to scream. All I want is the damn browser to remember my login info because I have about 10 sites I visit each day and having to type my user name and password every single time is driving me crazy! Please oh please someone email me a solution!

PS I have reinstalled IE8 three times. The odd thing is it remember my facebook and youtube info but not myspace, N4G, yahoo, msn, or any other sites.

I use firefox, which has been fine, but after I got my new pc, I cannot save the password for techspot... This means I have to log on every time. I have ticked the "remember me" box and also selected remember password when I was prompted. The password is in my saved passwords list but for some reason just won't log on automatically.

Are you running any application that deletes your cookies? I.E Ccleaner etc.

We have a Belkin N wireless router set up in our apartment. and We have 4 laptops...one is a mac, one is a Toshiba, one is an IBM and mine is an HP G60 with Windows Vista. All the laptops except for mine, can connect to the network and the internet with no problems at all. And when we first set up the connection, mine was working fine as well. We have always had the router set up with a WPA encryption key, but we recently changed the key and that is when the problems started.

After we initially made the change I was able to connect, but it said that I was in "local only" mode and I could not get on the internet. We messed around with the router and reset everything and I was once again able to connect without a problem, as were all the other laptops in the apartment. However, the next day, I started up my laptop and I was not connect to the internet again. This time It didn't even put me in "local only", it just didn't connect at all. I checked the security settings for our network and it seems that the original key that we used is still saved (the original code was 11 characters and the new is 16). All the other laptops are still connected without any issues. No matter how many times I put the new key in and hit "ok" it refuses to save the new key.

Have you tried switching off the modem and router then switching on just the modem wait to settle , then the router - wait to settle - then the PCs

What firewall do you or have you ever had on the PC - HP normally come with Norton Security Suite which has a limited subscription time , norton has caused issues like this, even when un-installed from Add/Remove programs
can you disable all firewalls and re-try

lets try and get the PC working when connected by cable

go into safemode with networking and see if that works
Keep tapping F8 as the pc starts - should see a menu with safemode with networking
see if you can connect now

also try reseting tcp/ip

When I type ina password for a webpage, I'm often asked if IE should save the ID/password. I click yes. However, the password doesn't seem to save. I have to retype it everytime I log in somewhere or try to post on certain forums (I know, I know. Life's rough). I figure I must have some settings wrong. Any ideas?

PS- I installed PopThis! and it works great. However, I can no longer access a certain area of a site I visit because (I think) my computer sees it as a popup. Is there a way to temporarily (sp?) disable it?

I have to use Internet Explorer to get to my work e-mail using MicroSoft Outlook Web Acess. (For some reason AOL can't find the address). Anyway, before we changed servers when I went to the site: the pop-up box would ask for my user name and passwordand at the bottom of the pop-up there would be an option to save the password and user name. Hey guys,

I'm in the midst of implementing Win7 Professional in a high school. Currently I'm running a Win2k3 R2 active directory where each machine has its own login. I created my cloned image and replicated it to several student computers to test. For some reason on only 1 of the machines it won't save any domain user's profile information to the hard drive in the user folder. Anybody have any idea why this is? Thanks.

A:Domain User Doesn't Save Locally

try first deleteing the machine account and deleteing all local copies of profiles. Them re-join the domain. Are these roaming profiles?

Sorry that I posted in wrong topic. Anyway, here we go again with dds file as well:Well, I got quite annoying problem, it started to happened some weeks ago and I can't remind myself I did anything special.The problem happens when I reboot or shut down my computer, when it relaunches my settings on hard drive C:\ doesn't save, neither my files. Hi everyone

i have just started using windows 8.1 on a new laptop and i am logged in as an administrator. i am trying to edit the hosts. txt file in


however i keep getting this message:

You don't have permission to save in this location.
Contact the administrator to obtain permission.
Would you like to save in the My Documents folder instead?

how can i alter the permissions level. i mean, i should be logged in as an administrator so why does the system think that i am not the administrtor and where can i go to alter it.

Right click and run notepad as administrator.

Also you want to be editing C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts not C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts.txt as the hosts file doesn't have a .txt extension. If you have a .txt on the end you want to rename it.

Running as an administrator allows you to adopt administrator authority by right clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator" - it doesn't automatically do it. The hosts file is owned by SYSTEM and I wouldn't change it.

After encrypting a drive with BitLocker, I tried to save the startup key to a couple of different USB drives.  The key simply will not save.  I can save the recovery password to any of those drives, but saving the key produces nothing.  Why might this be happening?

The problem came out of nowhere, I noticed my computer didn't animate when minimizing, opening, or closing a window. The "animate windows when minimizing and maximizing" option is enabled. When I restart my computer, it will still show that it is enabled when I bring up that window but it won't work unless I re-apply it. This has nothing to do with aero and my video card driver is up to date. I also noticed this after I recently installed new rams but I don't see how it could affect it. Any ideas on how to get it to stay working again? Thanks in advance!

Edit: It only happens on one user account for some reason. The other account has no problems with the animations at all.

I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 home ultimate 64 bit and I am pretty sure this problem started right away...

I have an NVIDIA GeForce 6800 with a dual monitor setup - HP LP2475w connected via DVI, and a Samsung Syncmaster connected via VGA.

The problem is that when the system has been idle long enough and the monitors are supposed to power off, about half the time (unpredictable), although the monitors go black, they don't turn off (the backlight is on and the power LEDs show they are on).

Both monitors show the same behavior at the same time (e.g. either both will power off correctly, or both will fail to power off), so the problem isn't monitor-specific.

Back when I had XP on this same setup, I didn't have this problem.

Anybody experiencing a similar issue or have any ideas what might be the problem here? I started with Windows standard drivers but them installed NVIDIA's drivers, but it made no difference.

A:Power save sometimes doesn't turn off monitors

I think I found the problem - it's the Google Photos Screensaver included with Picasa 3. If I don't use that screensaver, the problem never occurs.

I've had this issue in Windows 7 as well. No matter how many restore points I create manually, they completely disappear within a few days. It seems Windows 8/8.1 only saves 2 restore points, or even only one automatic one. Why does it not save the other restore points? I've done some googling and haven't found a solid answer. I'm also interested if anyone else has this problem.

A:Why doesn't Windows save restore points?

It depends on how much space is reserved for the restore points. The OS should be set to automatically make the restore points. Really the only time that Windows will create one, is if you are installing drivers, windows updates, software, or removing the same.

When i disable the "animate", "fade" and other features in the "performance options"(s. attachment), it works fine until i restart the PC. After reboot the "animate" etc. are checked again. this is the same with admin and user account. This PC has a fairly fresh install and i didn't do any crazy things.

Most of the items I uncheck stay unchecked. but these animate and fade ones (the most annoying since i want a snappy OS) always revert back.

any ideas how to resolve that? none of the W7 PCs i use have that problem, only my new one.

A:changing performance options doesn't save

I found out what the problem is and wanted to share the solution:
- it seems only the standard user accounts had this problem , the admin account would "save" the settings.
- I changed my "standards"accounts to admin accounts, adjusted the animation settings and reverted them back to "standard"accounts and they now keep the setting.

Some other hints I found while googling are (but i didn't actually follow those since I found above solution). Just in case above doesn't help someone:
- adjust registry (I looked, but it turned out the registry was set to not animate)
- restore (did, but didn't help)
- system repair (didn't do since one second before i did i found the above solution
