Lenovo 3000 Y400 won't power on

Q: Lenovo 3000 Y400 won't power on

Hi, i have a old lenovo 3000 Y400 notenook. Bought it from malasyia and its around 7 years old. my laptop fell and it case broke, hinges broke. But it still worked perfectly fine. this was 2 years ago, i checked it after every few months and it still worked. but i bought new laptop and sort of packed it in a pizza box, as screen had no casing and lower body was damaged as well. 4-5 months ago i removed the laptop HDD and started using as external HDD. finally found 2nd hand body for my laptop, cheap price, so decided to get the laptop fixed. BTW i bought new charger and battery few months before the incident. and also everything was working fine before i took out the HDD as i booted the device and checked. But now it won't boot. it shows power light, but as soon as i press power on button power indicator light turns off and it comes back on after few seconds. i have tried without battery, removed all possible connectors and its just abre minimum like motherboard, RAM, HDD and power switch panel to turn on power. Still same, on motherboard i can see few more lights, 3 led lights that turn on and then off in few secods span. Could it be because of dust? or something esle? because i really doesn't make sense to sped money on repairing it, because getting the 2nd hand body is the last viable option after that its better to buy 2nd hand laptop then spend money on it as it would cost me the same amount. any suggestion or help would be appreciated. i will make a samll video of those 3 lights on the motherboard that turns on for a second day after tomorrow and post the link here.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

my Lenovo Y400 is facing a problem. The battery is charging, but when unplug the power cord, the laptop lose all power and off. i thought battery problem but after replaced, it is still the same.Seems like the laptop just won't draw power from battery. i suspect i overheated parts of my laptop, since the left speaker which is near the heat exhaust not sounding well. The power plug point is also at the top left side, i wonder will it have anything to do with not getting power from battery?or are there other possible cause?

I have this 3000 N100 laptop for over a year now with no problems (except the lousy battery which died in 6 months and I'm running on A/C since then). Last week I started laptop and this shutdown problem started appearing. System would start normally and then would suddenly power itself in 2/3 minutes (most of the times, but sometimes in runs for 2-4 hours before shutting itself down)I checked the fan and processor. Nothing is heating up.I changed processor. Even then it'd go down.I have made the fan DIRECT (always ON) but the system still shuts down.I tried hmonitor but it only reads HDD temprature which is 36-40C - I guess very normal. Now I wonder where the problem may lie. Is it motherboard? What part of board might be getting heat? Or is it actually heat? Or do I need to get certain parts (capacitor, I/C or something) on Motherboard replaced? Any help? Comments? Suggestions?

A:Lenovo 3000 N100 random automatically power off (complete shut down)

I have been having this same issue the past couple days. I power my Lenovo laptop up.. it will boot into Windows XP.. then after 2-3 minutes - it will shut down. If I try to boot up again, the same process repeats. It is running on A/C now and still does this ... could it be a battery issue still? This would be the third battery that I purchase for the laptop since I bought it new. Thanks...

Hey Community, So I sent my laptop to the depot before my warranty expired to fix one of the hinges that supports the screen broke off. After receiving the laptop, I have had connection issues with my wireless. When I'm plug directly to the ethernet, no problem. The connection was spotty with wifi, but it came and went, didn't think too much of a problem.  Now, when i'm running off battery only, I cannot connect. I tried resetting, but to no avail. Strangely, when i'm plugged in via adapter for power, I can connect without any issue.   The problem is when I'm remote and using battery power, I can't connect at all.  Anyone experience this problem? Lenovo won't take back the unit since it's past my warranty period now. It's a minor inconvenience having to sit next to an outlet any time I need to connect via wifi.

Hi everyone, Im new to this forum, and I'm using this as a possibility to find a solution to my prblem which i've had for almost 3 weeks and I have not been able to repair, maybe someone from here with way more experience and knowledge than me can help me... Now to the Problem. Basically what I have been experiencing is:1. My computer does not connect to a wifi network (regardelss of the network).2. If it connects it can disconnect randomly and connection don't las too long.3. Succesfull connections depend on the position of my laptop. To be more specific: the closer I am to the modem the better the signal and the speed, but if I take one or 2 steps back the connection speed and signal decreases a lot, to the point that maybe within 10 to 15 steps from the modem it disconnects and the only way to connect again is to stand and connect where the modem is.4. Connection is very unstable.5. I have other devices connected to this networks and the connection and devices work perfectly fine.6. when the pc tries to connect, the wirelss signal drops to 0 and the comes back after it fails to connect. Possible solutions I have tried:1. reset IP adress.2. reset modem.3. resintalled drivers manually after deletion in device administration.4. changed the wireless card for a new one (compatible ill paste the specifics)5. checked for viruses and malware with rkill, ultraadwarekill, tdsskiller, adwcleaner, etc...6. did a scan with Lenovo companion software and failed to pass the... Hey guys, so I have ran into a problem during the past couple of days. I bought a Lenovo Y400 laptop around last May, and have played many games (ex: Diablo III, Starcraft II, Bioshock, The Witcher II, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare) at very high graphics settings without any lag.

A couple days ago, I turned my computer on and started trying to play Starcraft II, but was met by extreme lag and choppiness. Even when I turned the graphics settings from Extreme down to the lowest possible settings, the game still did not run smoothly and was quite laggy.

I hadn't used my computer for a couple days prior to the FPS problem, so there were no installations or anything that could have potentially caused the problem.

Today I cleaned my fan with compressed air, but that didn't seem to do anything. I also ran a full system scan with Bitdefender Internet Security 2014, but no viruses were found.

Around the same time I experienced the FPS drops I also noticed that my computer was quite a bit noisier than usual, but was blowing room temperature air and did not seem to be overheating.

I have no idea what this problem could be, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi.I have Lenovo Y400 with Windows 10 updage, since I've been upgraded from Windows 7. Currently I have problems with external usb 3.0 hdd because of lack of Intel chipset drivers for C216 chipset Intel HM76 motherboard. External usb hdd occasionally fails to be regonized by system and doesn't work until I uplug it and plut it again.According to Intel's community they don't support this motherboard as it is shipped as OEM for laptop manufacturers, so I'm asking my question here. Is Lenovo Y400 model already obsolete and we won't get Windows 10 upgrade with drivers ugraded?

Hi all!

This is my first time posting here, and I tried to look through some of the past threads but none of them were quite like the problem I've been having. Here are the specs for my laptop which was purchased just earlier this month, first off:

The problem I've been having is this: Lately, for the past 2-3 days or so, my wifi adapter would suddenly die-- meaning I can't connect to my home router or anyone else's, and when I try to use Windows' "Troubleshoot problems" feature, it would always get stuck at either "looking for problems with connectivity" or "resetting your wifi adapter". When I try to go into the advance settings to manually disable/enable my wifi adapter for myself, it would never actually work. When I try to click on the icon in the system tray, nothing would happen and it wouldn't pop up with the list of available networks like usual.

At this point, the only thing I can do is restart or shut down my laptop, but sometimes even that doesn't go throu... Read more

Hey folks! Thanks for checking out my post, I've looked online, but couldn't find a solution, so I thought I'd make my own post. Some details: This laptop is an HP DV6-3064 ca. It was purchased refurbished about a year ago, and has had almost no problems to this point. I was at a friend's house using my laptop, and everything was working fine. Shut down, packed it up, took it home, pulled it out, pushed the power button, and nothing. I didn't leave it in the sun, or bump it on anything. Just brought it home and it wouldn't turn on, with no warning signs or anything. Now I looked into power issues and I can guarantee my battery as well as the AC adapter are perfectly fine. I also tried the hard reset but still get nothing. The light by the DC jack does not turn on when I plug it in. Now, I'm relatively tech-savvy, and since my laptop was no longer under warrantee I figured I'd check it out for myself. (Don't really have the resources to take it to a repair shop). The DC jack looked like it might have had some wear on it, so I ordered a new one from a reputable seller on eBay, replaced the old one, and nothing changed. I'm completely at a loss here. Weird thing is, when I have the laptop opened, and plugged in, I can feel the motherboard heat up a bit. Not sure if it's supposed to do that, but I know there is power going to it, even though the DC jack light still does not light up. If anybody has any insight, PLEASE let me know, and if you need any more info... A:HP DV6-3000 Getting NO power. No response from power button ...

Bannor,  The LED on the DC jack usually is an indicator of whether the AC adapter is working properly.  That light is on a different circuit and does not require a good system board.  If the light does not come on usually the adapter is bad. If you've already tested or replaced the adapter then the dc jack is the next step however when HP replaces this part in the repair depot they usually replace the entire board (with jack soldered on) at once.  You might consider replacing the entire board. Wes

Ok, so I had Vista up until yesterday when I reformatted my computer and loading XP on it. Everything is working fine except now I have no sound. There is no volume icon in the task bar and in the "Sounds and Audio Devices" it says "No Audio Device." I have an integrated sound card but I'm not sure what it is and I have tried downloading countless drivers to get this to work. In my device manager I have PCI Device, SM Bus Controller, and Ethernet Controller all under "Other Devices" with no drivers to match, don't know if these would conflict with my sound. And in the device manager it shows "Legacy Drivers" under my Sound tab. I have gone through the bias and made sure my audio was enabled so that is not the issue. I called my company's tech support and they couldn't offer any help except loading Vista again which I would rather not do.

Welcome to TSF....

Since you downgraded to Windows XP and what has to be done is to download all of the special drivers for the motherboard for windows xp. These are chipset, buss, network, video, audio and others and can be found on one of the several next places. The manufacturers web site for either the computer or the motherboard. Once these are downloaded you are to burn them to a CD-R disk and then install in the order I typed earlier.

On the Battery - I've had good luck and bad luck on buying batteries on eBay. Would I do it again? Yes. Would I go through with returning the battery if it failed as opposed to just eating the cost if it happened again? Yes. haha. That one was my bad but the people I dealt with were very considerate.

The downfalls - I've had a 'non-factory' battery purchased off of ebay work wonders for my Dell Inspiron 6400 but I bought one for my wife's Compaq CQ-60 and the battery connectors did not make good enough contact within the laptop. I could have sent it back but didn't and just bought an aftermarket one from Batteries Plus.

For your battery just do a quick search on eBay for 'battery' and your particular laptop brand & model to get a pricing idea.

The hard drive shouldn't be difficult if you wanted to replace it yourself however it would also involve you installing the operating system, finding all of the drivers for your system to run, etc. If that is something you are willing to do or you feel confident in doing I suggest it. I would use a good computer of a friends or relative's to acquire all of the drivers prior to taking this on yourself though. If you find it difficult to find (at least the major drivers like NIC, VGA, Sound) then I would probably suggest having a tech do it. It is no good to you to waste your time trying to fix it yourself and then taking it too a tech firm afterwards and then they take your money t... Read more

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Aside from the hardware manual, you may check the specific battery and ac charger intended to your machine here on the parts lookup page. Type in your serial number or machine number in the search box per product info and click on the commodity type for finer search.

I guess I posted in the wrong board, so I am posting my question. I bought a used Lenovo 3000 Y410 on eBay without noticing that it didn't come with an AC adapter. This laptop also doesn't have a battery. Which AC adapter do I need to buy?

A:Lenovo 3000 Y410 ac adapter

Hi nyc10036,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Aside from the hardware manual, you may check the specific battery and ac charger intended to your machine here on the parts lookup page. Type in your serial number or machine number in the search box per product info and click on the commodity type for finer search.
Hope this helps answer your query.

For the past 3 days, once/day, my Lenovo 3000 N200 shuts off by itself in the middle of use. It gives no warning signs and simply shuts off. I have also noticed over the past several months that the computer will only last a few minutes without being plugged in despite a full battery charge. Am not sure if this is related or not but I have had the computer plugged in every time it has shut off inexplicably. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and what I need to check into?

A:Lenovo 3000 N200 shuts off by itself

Some more details: I am usually multi-tasking when this happens and the fan seems very active at the time it shuts off. Could the computer think it is overheating for some reason and how can I check this? It does not feel particularly warm anywhere.

Can someone help me solve these problems, especially the usb. I been using alot of flash cards and i can't connect them to transfer files.....

A:Nothing but problems with Lenovo n100 3000

You should go to the Lenovo Driver Matrix, to download and install all drivers listed, using the text explanations exactly.
When done properly, your Lenovo 0768-A49 will work just fine.
As a shortcut, you can install the Systems update 3.14 by your model:
· H100
· J100
· J105
· J110
· J115
· J200
· J200p
· J205
· K100
· Q100
· S200
· S205
. C200
· N100
· N200
· V100
· V200
· Y100
Or you can connect to the Lenovo site and let their system tell you what you need and install it for you.
Basically, you need the Chipset most importantly, being sure your BIOS is up to date.
The Matrix will show you exactly what you need... it can be as many as 35 download installs, depending on your exact model.
Or you can buy the Lenovo WXP Professional disk set by telephone for less than $50 including shipping.

I have a Lenovo 3000 J desktop that wont boot. As a point of reference, I try to hit the F1 key as the manual suggest and the F12 key as many have suggested and get nothing but clicking. I am not able to see anything on the monitor although I do know that it is working as I can see the no signal message. The light on the DVD/CD drive does flash but seem to get hung there. I recognize this is an older unit and If ican get it booted up will save all files to a remote drive and replace. Any ideas or help is appreciated BB

A:Lenovo 3000 J Series won't boot

hi Braddburm,
Welcome to the Forums.
It looks like the onboard VGA port gave out. Try to:
1. Use a discrete graphics card to output your video (i.e. pci or low profile pci-e graphics card)
2. If option 1 is not possible and you're considering a replacement machine, you will need a 3.5 HDD sata enclosure to convert the internal HDD to an external HDD to read the data on the new replacement machine.
Best regards,

Hi.I've got some problems with my computer. 1. Due to some unexplainable reason, whenever I type something on the keyboard, all my USB ports stop working for the time I'm typing. When I stop typing it takes a few seconds to recognize the USB device currently attached and it starts working again.  2. Another problem is with my sound driver. It's kind of messed up. I can't hear any sounds from the speakers unless I've plugged in headphones. And while they're plugged in I can hear sound from both, the speakers and the headphones. At the moment I've disabled front panel jack detection and I can hear sound from the speakers without having to plug anything in, although when I do, I don't hear sound from the headphones, but still from the speakers. 3. I haven't been able to find any working drivers for my SD card reader. 4. The driver for the fingerprint reader does not work. The device manager shows that I have AuthenTec AES2501A installed but when going to Biometric devices in the control panel, it says that Windows didn't find any biometric devices. 5. I've been unable to get my bluetooth device to work. I've tried adding a new device and it can't find any, even when I have several working near the comupter. Also, trying to see all the devices I have connected to via Bluetooth, the window pops up and never stops loading. Without showing any devices. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. Lenovo 3000 N100 0689. I would appreciate some hel... Read more

I have just installed Windows 10 32-bit on this laptop. I am trying to locate the driver for the Fn keys specifically so that I can turn on the wifi with Fn+F5. Windows is telling that I need to physically turn on the wifi switch on the laptop, but as far as I can tell there isn't one and the only way to disable and enable the wifi.

Sorry to hear of your problem in locating the necessary drivers.  Due to the age of your laptop Lenovo has since moved the C200 downloads over to their legacy download library which can be found by using the link below.....

My friend's dell dimension won't turn on. Pushing the power button does nothing. The computer was working fine recently then there was a power outage around the time. It doesn't seem like the PSU because I had it plugged in with the case open and there was a glowing green light on the motherboard which disappeared upon unplugging the computer.

Now here is exactly what happens when pushing the power button. No fans and/or indicator of being on. Nothing, no harddrive etc.
It really makes me think it is the switch.

How would I go about fixin this.
Bear with me and do try to be quick as the hurricane tomorrow may not allow me to get back on for a week.

Thanx in advance very much

I am having a Lenovo 3000 Y410 notebook.  I had to format it because Windows had crashed. I decided to install Windows 8.1 32 bit Professional version on it.  I have managed to download the Windows Vista drivers for this model from https://download.lenovo.com/lenovo/content/ddfm/Y410.html and install them.  However, I am unable to install the "Lenovo Bluetooth Driver for Windows Vista (32-bit) - Lenovo 3000 Y410" driver sotware, as it says that the software is incomapible with the OS.  I am unable to get Bluetooth to work.  Can anyone at Lenovo help me please.

My laptop had screen flickering problem. I used to rectify same by slapping gently at top of it or by moving lid front and back. I was doing same and whole screen went off. When i went to repair shop he said motherboard issue is there 1500 rupees will be charged and asked to came in evening. He called me in afternoon and said your laptop has been rectified but display is too dim, when i installed FL (about 3-4 inches long strip which gives power to lcd) and it worked perfect and asked that 500 more will be charged for same. I said ok. When i went to shop it was working fine. I paid 2000 and took laptop home. When i opened it and started, i was shocked that there was no power in lcd, however laptop was working. I opened back cover of screen and tried touching FL connectors, nothing worked. I went back and told him, he installed new FL and again it did not work. He said lcd cable is faulty. He tried finding same and after few days said, it is not found. I took my laptop back along with 500 rupees for FL. Installed old FL again and ordered lcd cable online. Today, i installed cable on my own but lcd still not showing light, however laptop is working and shows too dim display. What is faulty???
