I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm looking to purchase computer for my university bound son. I have found a Toshiba

To this uneducated brain, it looks like a fair computer.
Its' sale price is $450.00 Cdn dollars.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

A:toshiba sattelite laptop

It comes with a Celeron processor which is older and slower technology. Not what I would spend my money on for a student going off to college for the next 4 years. It also looks like it comes with Vista Basic which the school isn't likely to even support. Definitely not recommended.

You'll need to spend more money to get a decent system.

First, I am a computer novice. I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite laptop. It's about 1 year old.

Twice recently when I have properly shut down the computer (start, shut down) and went to turn it on the next day the computer was dead. Someone tells me it's called "extended hibernation", but I do not know. The far left blue light (indicates it is receiving power via the AC adapter) stays on and that's it. Each time I removed the battery for about 10 minutes, placed it back in and it started up. My thinking is that the computer really should not be doing this to me.

Any thoughts as to the problem and how to permanetly repair it?

A:Toshiba Sattelite Laptop Help Needed

bp: (I don't have a laptop so I have to do this from memory).
You're right, the computer should not be doing this to you.
I don't know about "extended hibernation", never heard about it.
But just in case there is somthing to it, you can turn off hibernation altogether.
Click Start>Control Panel.>Power options.
In Power Options Properties there are two Power Schemes, one for AC and the other for Battery.
Set both Schemes to turn off Monitor after (your preference) minutes.
Turn off Hard discs=Never. System Standby=Never.
Turn off Hibernation in both Schemes.

There may or not be a Hibernation tab, if there is, turn off Hibernation there.
Now, the machine never goes into Stand By or Hibernation.

On the Advanced tab, When I close the lid (or something) select Shut down.

Now you will have to shut down properly every time, but if you forget, closing the lid will do it for you.

Good Luck.

Hi everyone.
I recently bought a new Dell laptop last month.
It's model is the Inspiron 3437 and it's running on Windows 8.1.
The problem I have with it is that I can't turn on the Wi-Fi, this issue has been here since I bought the laptop. The only way I am able to access the internet is via cable, but this makes having a laptop really inconvenient as I intend to use it for reporting purposes.
The laptop had Ubuntu installed but I got it replaced with Windows 8.1.
I tried downloading the proper drivers for it, and the was only one that failed to install, which would be the Dell Wireless 1705 802.11b/g/n, BT4.0+HS Driver, as shown below.
Driver won't install No Wi-Fi Driver Can't detect any wireless networks whatsoever.

I tried installing it but when I do, it runs and in the middle of installing it, it just exits.
The manual states that the Wi-Fi could be turned on if you press the Fn Key + F2 at the same time, but this does nothing as I don't have a driver yet, but what can I do? I can't seem to install the proper driver for this laptop.
I already sought help from Dell's support community but I haven't received a single answer for weeks.
Please help me find a solution for this problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to post the log after the failure of the installation of the driver.
Here it is, it's quite long so please bare with me:

I've ran some programs in compatibility mode and it seems to have fixed most of my blue screen issues, but I still get the blue screen of death maybe once every two days; I'm new here so I'm not really sure where to begin. Also as I I have another account on my laptop named John, and it keeps coming back after I delete it. This isn't really a big problem I guess, but it's odd. Help!  My new HP ProBook 450 g1 I recently purchased has a BIOS password, put on there from two owners ago, and I have no way of recovering even who owned the laptop at that time to begin with, nor any way to remove the BIOS password, either.   I'm really at a turning point with this laptop, if I can't end up cracking the BIOS, I don't think I want to keep this laptop any longer, and will likely have to sell it.  From what I know about MOST computers, is that there is almost ALWAYS a way to get around a BIOS password, be it one thing or another...  I would like to know what my options are as far as recovering the password, or removing it, or what all can be done about this issue?

I was given an 'old' Dell laptop (Celeron, 600Mhz, 256MB RAM, 20GB HDD, NIC card, floppy disk drive) as well as the reinstallation CD that has XP Pro on it. I've got two roadblocks that I can't seem to get around:
1) The logon is password protected. This laptop was used by a company where each employee logged onto a network. I have the username and password, but, since I'm not connected to that network, it does no good. The computer can't authenticate the password and I don't have access to the network.
2) The laptop came with a floppy drive, not a CD drive.

Here are my questions:
1. Is there any way possible to get to the C: prompt to reformat the HD? I am able to get into the boot order setup. Once the HD is reformatted,
2. How can I get the reinstallation done without a CD drive? I've already thought about (and actually copied the CD to) a USB thumb drive, but the boot order doesn't give an option to boot from a USB.
3. Is it worth the $10 - $20 to get a CD drive for this laptop off of eBay?

My Dell Studio XPS 16 motherboard failed but I was able to get the hard drive out of my computer and connected to my desktop using a case that makes it act as an external hard drive.

I now am trying to copy the old files from the Dell hard drive to my new computer's hard drive but some of the folders are password protected and didn't copy with the rest of the old C drive.

Clicking on some of these folder brings up a dialog box informing me I do not have privilege to see those files and I canceled out of the dialog box as I was worried I might accidentally erase the folder if I did not unlock it properly. Both computers were most recently running Windows 7 though the old Dell laptop originally came installed with Windows Vista.

What are the steps for recovering these files?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi name is Lori and I am trying to get in to my toshiba laptop, however, it needs a password and I do not know it. I've tried setting it back to factory settings and when I hold down the zero and turn on the laptop it still goes to where I have to enter a password. I have tried the f11 key the esc key and just about every key to restart the computer and go to the factory settings, but nomatter what I do it still goes to the password screen. I would like to mention though, that where it says password (for me to enter) there is a black bar across it and I dont know why that is there. It just looks weird to me.

The laptop in question is a toshiba satellite laptop model # a10-S169.

Recently my friend who is a computer newbie somehow enabled, or somebody maliciously enabled a bios password or a user-id password that I believe to be unique toshiba satelite laptops. (I may be incorrect on this but I think the toshiba satellite laptops have a unique function referred to as user-id password. if anyone is familar please specify)

I was curious, if anyone had additional information on this model such as the name of bios and if obtaining a "backdoor password" for the bios would be a possible method of gaining access to computer. I've tried common passwords as "Toshiba" which is said to bypass common password functions based upon Toshiba mechanisms.

Again; does anyone know the name of the bios for this model laptop?

(I have the documentation for laptop however it is relatively vague in terms of the specific name of bios or any help options. also; it mentions the user-id password utility however does not specify how to bypass, or a backdoor password, or any other additional information.)

I realize that I may be able to unplug bios battery, or alter the jumper switches to reset the bios information however I would prefer solving this without altering any hardware components.

I would appreciate any assistance.

two week ago, my father bought this old acer laptop from someone who needed money. I just found out that the PC perfomer installed inside says it has 118 errors and its the at the ''Mauvais'' stage in french. Yes my laptop is in french.

The laptop is an Acer laptop who has these stickers on it saying "Intel Atom Inside" "Designated for Microsoft Windows XP" "energy star". On two of the corners of the laptop is imprinted Aspire one.

What Im looking for is for the laptop to be just as if I just bought it from the store, erasing most of the stuff without actually deleting some of the important stuff (like Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, Paint and similar programs).

I don't own any usb drives (except a really small one that is about two gigs) or any disc drive thing.

I dont have much experience in computers nor can have contact with a tech savvy at the moment so please explain to me deeply what to do.

Also, I did not browse the site. So I do not know if a topic like this was already made. Or if this is a the right place but yea.

help anyone?

The older Aspire Ones are unlikely to have drivers to let them run on Win 7 and XP's end of life is 04/08/2014. I had two Acer Aspire Ones and both were garbage (as were the Acer desktop, keyboard and mouse I had). Personally, I don't feel it's worth messing with. Hopefully, your father can get his money back.

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop whose LCD screen has gone negative.I was wondering if it is the video card or the inverter board. The backlight still works as far as i can tell.Any ideas anyone!!!Thanks

A:Toshiba Sattelite

If the backlight is working it is not likely to be the Inverter. Have you tried connecting an external monitor to the laptop to see if the image is normal? If it is then it could be in the cable from the motherboard to the LCD, or the LCD itself is faulty. If the external monitor is displays the same as the Built in LCD then it is the video adapter which would require a new motherboard to repair.

A:Toshiba sattelite l755 64 bit notebook

I'm sorry, but I don't really understand what you want.
Here's what I got from your post so far.
- You have a Toshiba Sattelite l755 Laptop
- The Hard Drive is fell out? I'm not sure about that one.
- You want a new hard drive that supports DirectX 11 Capabilities?

A hard drive doesn't determine whether or not your laptop supports DirectX, it's your GPU.
If you have a dedicated GPU (NVidia Geforce Graphics or AMD Radeon Graphics), it will most likely support it by default.
Some newer integrated graphics can also do too.

Originally it has a pre-installed Win7 premium, I have formatted the laptop and tried to install Win7 ultimate but did not work, after headache I have temporally decided to install Win8.1, it worked well. I have tried again to install Win-7 64bit ultimate by booting and adjusting the Bois setting from csm to UEFi boot, booted fine and while win7 installation in progress no drivers were identified (you cannot see any drivers). As recommended I have copied SATA drivers to the USB and when tried to load them through the installation process it gives an error and not identified. Secondly, I have tried to install win 7 by logging onto the pre-installed win8.1, it went fine and copeid win7 files but after auto restart through win installation it gave the blue dead screen and failed. I have gone through these for many weeks and went through so many sites amongst is Toshiba sites and so many YouTube videos but no success. I would appreciate it very much if someone could suggest a solution.

A:Can not Install Win7 In Toshiba Sattelite

Hi fatmnafi Allow me to ask you simple questions first to make sure we get everything right.Where did you get the Windows 7 64-bit from? Also, which edition is it?What tool/program did you use to create a bootable USB with the Windows 7 .iso?Is your hard drive partitionned using a MBR or GPT partition table style?Do you have "Secure Boot" enabled in your BIOS?Also, I would give this thread on Toshiba's forum a read:https://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03F30002R01.htmSo if you have the CSM boot enabled, it's good. Now you need to disable the Secure Boot.

Hello to everyone -- anyone!
I have a 2 year old Toshiba Sattelite laptop A105-S4134. I updated the BIOS last week to Version 5.90 and since then my two front USB ports are not working (the ones in the back are working fine). In the device manager it lists 5 USB host controllers and 5 root hubs - all say working properly.
Any ideas on what to do? I hate to uninstall anything incase it stops them all from working!
Thanks for any assistance

A:Toshiba Sattelite USB ports not all working

As a guess, you need to enable Legacy USB (1.1) for the front USB ports.

Lately my Toshiba Sattelite A35-S159 hasn't been booting right. I press the button to turn it on, and it runs for about 5 seconds with nothing on the screen and then turns off. It keeps restarting itself and then turning off again. This process is ongoing until i remove the power source.

I'm running WXPsp2, 512mb RAM , 30g hard drive.

Hi all, now i gotta wierd problem with my laptop. Here is what i did that day with it.
It had Vista on it, i removed it and put XP because it runs (ran) a lot faster then.
I had some problems with network and things like that, fixed them all, installed LOADS of drivers, some games, spet whole day playing with it just to get everything work fine. Last thing i did was installind Directx 9.0c and when it asked me to reboot, i did (meanwhile accidentaly hit the table with my leg, it didnt got some big shock but what the hell). When booting up again it stops at Toshiba bla bla genious bla bla and i have F2 to go to BIOS and F12 to select what will i boot from. Blue bar comes to approx 75% and stops.
Next time i went to BIOS and there was no HDD listed, i tried to hear if HDD is spinning (working) and it did. WHAT SHOULD I DO?????
Thanks in advance...
