Windows 7 installer does not detect the ssd

Q: Windows 7 installer does not detect the ssd

I have an ASROCK 890gx pro3 MB and GSkill Phoenix Pro 120 gb ssd. The BIOS screen shows the ssd. I have already installed a copy of Windows 7 to my samsung 2 tb HDD but also wanted it to be on the SSD as the primary boot option.I disconnected my HDD, changed the BIOS boot set up to AHCI and Windows installer would not show the ssd. Changed the boot set up to IDE and still no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Preferred Solution: Windows 7 installer does not detect the ssd

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 and Windows XP operating system. When I had trouble accessing the Internet, I decided to try reinstalling my SBC DSL software/drivers, etc. but was told by an SBC rep that it appeared to be a computer problem afte we tried doing the cmv command under "run". I entered in IPconfig on that black screen but it actually came up showing an IP that is NOT the one I have to use with my SBC DSL, which is We tried several things unsuccessfully. The SBC rep told me that I may need to install/reinstall an LAN device/function so my computer would detect my Ethernet and allow me to access the Internet again. (This is Greek to me and I fear spending $99 to what could be simple solution).

Is it possible to simply reinstall LAN accessories exclusively into the appropriate drivers or devices (which drivers or devices?) without having to reinstall all of my XP system it was originally equipped with and erase everything on my hard drive which would take forever to save, burn or reinstall?

This all happened after I purchased an online copy of ErrorKiller and AdWareAlert so I unistalled them. But I still can't access the Internet or get a connection. The first three lights on my DSL modem are a steady green and the far right blinks green, but the fourth light from left (displaying "Internet") is as dead as a doornail due to no Ethernet detection or (from what the SBC rep told me) a LAN connection.

Please help! I'm at work now... Read more

Hi jammintex

Since you've already removed the troublesome apps that might have caused the original problem, why not see if a System Restore will work for you?

Go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. You will want to restore the system to a restore point (there will be a calendar of days to choose from) that is before you installed the problem apps, but after you successfully installed and used your SBC software/hardware. A repair "sweet spot" that we want to get right.

There likely isn't anything wrong with your hardware, so just before you run the System Restore, try unplugging the power cord from the DSL modem. Leave it off until after the System Restore is complete.

After System Restore has completed, reboot your computer. If the reboot goes fine, wait a few minutes and then re-plug in the power to your DSL modem.

The System Restore should return your system to the correct drivers and correct software setup for your DSL -- so it has a good chance of succeeding. Re-setting the DSL modem can often clear any odd settings that can result from small surges, or slight overheating after being constantly "on" for so long. They are pretty hardy little appliances, so let's hope you're good to go.

Best of luck
. . . Gary

P.S. if you had any trouble uninstalling the two troublesome programs, I generally recommend CCleaner as a reasonable Registry Cleaner, when one is called for (http://www.download.com/CCle... Read more

Hi people!

I have a big problem.
The Win7 installer dont detect my RAID array!

NOTE: The BIOS step is OK (already configured to RAID).

I have tried to load my ATI SB600 RAID controller (vista x64 ones) inside the windows instalation program, but it doesnt accept any drivers! (assignature is missing)

So the question is.. Is there any compatible ATI SB600 RAID controller for windows 7?

Please help people, i wanna install windows 7 with my 2 BlackCaviars in RAID mode!

A:Installer dont detect my raid array

I'm sorry I can't directly help you, but your problem is opposite of what going on with my install. I reset and disabled my previous raid set up and tried to install. I wanted two separate drives. Nothing I did worked. I reconfigured raid and that was the only way I could install it. I have an asus p5wd2 premium mobo.

3. However, once I enter my reg key, Vista cannot detect a drive to install to.

5. I run Notepad.
6. Using the open feature of notepad, I can access the SATA drive and create/delete files and folders to it.
7. I can format the drive using the command prompt for vista.

I called Gigabyte and they are stumped. I've tried nearly every driver on the included CD and from the website. I've tried Native IDE, RAID (single drive array), Legacy IDE and SATA->AHCI modes. No joy. Vista just will not detect the drive.

My config is HP G6 1075 SA with W7 Home Premium 64 bit pre-installed. It was working well until last week when I decided to install Debian Linux. I am no N00B to Linux and have installed it probably 100s of times. Debian installed and booted well but Windows BSODed with an error 0x0000225 cannot access drive. I formatted C and attempted to reinstall Windows 7 but it is unable to detect the HDD. I accept terms of license and move on to the point of choosing disks but nothing shows up. (There is an option to choose drivers. Where do I locate them? The HP website isn't helpful and I can't even find my product let aside the drivers)

I have already tried :
1. Partitioning an NTFS file system in Debian. Doesnt show.
2. Deleting a partition in Debian and attempt to see the free space in W7 Installer. Didn't work.
3. Try to do the BIOS setting thing (Change SATA option from AHCI to compatible or something). I could find no such setting in BIOS. The BIOS was severely limited with only option of switching on fan.

What do I do ?
The chipset is Intel HM55 if that helps and harddrive is SATA 5400 rpm 500GB.

I know I have windows installer installed, as Flashplayer and adobe installed it. Is it harmful, my brother is raising a lot of heck about it. I read the other old forum logs for windows installer and it does not see to be a problem. He also said that he has a program from windows called Trusted Installer. Checked back forum logs, nothing on trusted installer. I ran a search of my computer with no results. He said it stopped him from downloading SAS. He did a clean install and now it downloads and he cannot find no trusted installer on it. Is there such a thing as a trusted installer? Its only supposed to be in vista as he says. Curious about it as I cannot find nothing on my computer for trusted installer, windows installer yes, other NO.

Hello all. I really need your help. I've tried to open a downloaded file - TinyWallInstaller.msi - , but without success. I've learned that Windows blocks opening this and many other file extension types because it rates them as "high risk" or "invalid" with the pop-up : " Publisher Could Not Be Verified". I also came across a simple tutorial that does unblock this, but it doesn't apply to Vista Home Prem. - my O.S. So, that said, I'm looking for a good workaround that will enable me to unblock and open this neat firewall program. My experience is somewhat limited - would hope to avoid command prompt and registry editing if possible. However, at this point I'm willing to try just about anything! Please help!!!

Hello! Registered because I really need help.

My Compaq laptop (Vista) was working just fine last night, connected to my home wireless network all right and all. Today morning my laptop couldn't detect my home wireless network at all, but it could still detect a bunch of other networks from the neighbours. My iPhone can detect my network with no problems, my desktop computer is wired up to the router, works fine too. It's a D-Link DIR-655. This has happened before but usually gets solved when I reboot (switching off and on) my router. I've tried that, tried restarting my computer too, no use. Haven't tried anything beyond that because I'm an idiot with computers.

Can anyone help me please? Thank you.

Yesterday, my computer randomly started screwing up. There is no longer any sound for ANYTHING, and I've tried all the solutions posted on the net which claims to fix "no active mixer device" error message which i am getting when i try to access volume control. At this time, the CD rom was working perfectly.

After hours, i just left it and went to sleep. And then the sound worked again the next morning. But suddenly, the computer restarts itself. When it comes back on, there is no longer sound.

Now, when i try to just reformat the computer, my CD-Rom will not even work properly, it isn't the actual fault of the CD, but it just won't detect ANYTHING. Not even things that worked the night before.

So now i can't refromat, can't get any sound, can't read any CDs, and randomly the computer restarts itself when the sound starts working, and shows blue screen sometimes just as the computer restarts itself so i can't even read what it says..... like less than a second of blue screen.

NOTE: NO changes were made to anything before these problems started taking place. Nod32 can't detect any viruses either.

My system was running Windows XP Professional, SP2 without a hitch up until about 2 months ago. Then it just stopped detecting the disks. I went into every screen and venue that I could find and everything that is suppose to be checked is checked. It does not recognize any disk in any drive. All of the drivers are current and the system shows no problems in any areas. As a matter of fact, it runs great. I just can't use any of my drives!

I was told that a recent Norton update had changed the settings and I should uninstall Norton and reinstall Windows XP. I was also told that a virus disables the auto detect feature. I have run several full system virus scans and have found one virus which was quarantined. But I can't find anyone who can help me to restore the autodetect feature.

Sure could use some help. Thanks.

I have just learned that a virus called the LSAS virus may be the problem. Norton Anti-virus does not have this virus listed. Is anyone familiar with this virus?

But when i go to connect the laptop to the laptop to the desktop homegroup all i see on top is "There is currently no homegroup on the network."
if i try to create the homegroup on the laptop i cannot find it in the desktop as well.
i was hoping that someone here can help me troubleshoot this issue.
thanks. mike,

here are the things i have tried so far.

-in cmd.exe
-ipconfig /renew
-ipconfig /flushdns
-ipconfig /release

-turning off all computers after leaving the homegroup. turning on one computer creating the homegroup on that computer then trying to join on the other computer afterwards. (done for both computers)
-reset all network settings
-make sure ipv6 was enables on both computers
-renamed both computers
-reset modem and created a new ssid and password.
and thats about all i can remember.

Welcome to the forum sukle.

Can't really help with your problem but a few ideas while you wait for one of the experts to come along and help.

Is your phone completely up to date ? Do you have the 8.1 update on your phone ?

I only have the Lumia 520, I have no problems with this on my 8.1 Update 1 Asus Notebook, I've just plugged it in so of course it's charging, usually charge through the mains adapter so very rarely plug it into the computer as everything can be done from the phone.

Sorry I can't help but I'm sure someone will be along soon to help you out.

This HDD works, I have been using it as storage for a while in this machine and the reason im stalling windows on it is because my 80GB doesnt work any more, it is a 250GB SATA2 seagate, my 80 was a SATA.
Does anyone have an ideas?

I used to have both Windows 2000 and Windows XP installed on my pc but then later removed my Windows 2000 because I very rarely used it anymore. I then realized that the 2000 load was the main os where it stored the boot file(s), the file that tells it that there are 2 os on the system, and I need to know what I need to do for it to tell it to boot from Windows XP.

A:Won't detect windows xp

Go into BIOS setup menu and make sure your CDRom is first in line for boot. Shut down, then put your OS disk into the CDRom, when it boots up select the R (Repair) option and away you go. IT should fix any problem that you are encountering.

Hello, first post on these forums. I have a brand new rig I built recently and I've been a bit frustrated with this problem with my HDD. I have an SSD with Windows on my first SATA port, and an HDD on the second. My BIOS has no problem detecting the HDD, however it only shows up in Windows about half the time. When it doesn't show up I usually restart and it will appear. I have tried reseating the SATA cables numerous times. Everything in this PC is brand new, so I don't understand how it could be a failing drive/cable. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Could you post the Disk Management using your Snipping Tool. If you could post the one where it does show and one where it does not show, that might help. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

I have read a lot of threads about this already but none of them helped me.

So I have an Nvidia geforce GTX 260m that will not be detected by my computer after installing windows 7. As you can see from my dxdiag file it only detects a standard vga graphics adapter.
I have tried installing the files from nvidia website. Nothing doing... I get the same errors over again. "The Nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware" etc.

I have also attached the .inf file from the setup i am trying to download from. I should note that there is a lot of .inf files to choose from. I chose this one because other people seem to think it is important.

I have also tried to update the drivers via windows update and going into device manager and forcing it to update (by browsing and selecting the .inf file). I always seem to get the error "The driver selected by this device does not support this version of windows".

Please help!

Hi guys,

I have just recently decided to upgrade all my pc's at home to Windows 7 Home Premium. I have purchased a Windows Home 7 Premium Family pack that allows 3 installations on the one license. I have tried installing it on my pc running a legal copy of Windows XP Media Centre Edition and it cannot detect my hdd.

The PC itself is an Acer Aspire E500. I believe the motherboard running it is an ECS RC410-Mr (V1.0), has a Seagate Barracuda 250gb Sata Hdd and everything else is pretty much standard.

So here's what is happening. I have put the installation disk into the DVd-rom and booted up my pc. It loads all of the default files etc and goes into the standard process to select the install location. It doesn't detect a hdd.

So I figure at this point that i must have to load drivers for any on-board sata raid or something. Weird thing is i don't remember it having this option. I have looked into the bios to find if there is any low level Raid settings and there is no mention of it.

I have gone onto the ECS website to find drivers for such a thing and they do exist. I have put them onto a thumb drive and re-ran the installation. It detects the driver, I click load and it says it is not compatible. I have tried multiple sources of this driver and none of them work.

I have heard stories about having to do a bios update but I worry about this on 2 levels 1) the pc works fine and I dont want to risk killing it, 2) the bios updates dont say anything about a fix... Read more

A:Windows 7 cannot detect Hdd!?!?

What is the SATA controller setting in BIOS? Try AHCI, then IDE if necessary.

Remove all but 2gb of RAM to try install.

Try wiping the HD to get the cleanest possible slate. Make your XP Recovery Disks from Recov Partition as it will be disabled by Win7 install anyway. Then Boot DVD, press Shift F10 at first screen to open Command Line, type:
SELECT DISK # (for Windows 7 HD)
create partition primary
select partition 1
assign letter=c:

Please tell me how to get Windows XP Pro to auto-detect my drivers & utilities on my Dell computer like Linux has done during the installation-process?

So far, Windows XP Pro hasn't auto-detected any of those things (listed below), like Linux did almost immediately after I installed it on my Dell Laptop computer:

Ethernet controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
Network Controller
PCI Modem
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
ALSO: Please tell me if I downloaded drivers from that Dell computer onto a CD would that CD have to be a "data CD" in order for my computer to detect the drivers I have burned on the disc? or would that CD have to be a non-Data CD (example: "Bootable CD"), which runs the programs and installs the drivers automatically after it's inserted in the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM)?

A:Solved: Linux distros auto-detect drivers > So, why won't WinXP Pro auto-detect my dr

Form a company to write a Windows clone, and include the drivers for all the hardware.

You just need a data CD to transport the drivers, or even a USB FLASH disk...

A:Windows 7 will not detect my microphone.

Welcome to Seven Forums randomyoutubr. Some things to try.

Start> In search box type sound recorder> Enter

If no audio recording device is found, you will get this popup

If a device is detected, you will go to the Sound options

Click on the recording tab, does the microphone show and have a green check mark? If so, windows is seeing the microphone, and it is working. You can start a recording and save the file for playback.

If there is No green mark on microphone, right click on microphone and click on Enable. If there is no microphone in the list, right click on any blank space in the window and select Show disabled devices. If you now see the microphone, but do not see the green check mark on it, right click on it and click on Enable. You might also have to select microphone, and click on Set Default.

HI! i recently encountered a very strange problem with my windows Xp SP2,
and i have reformatted my computer seriousely for more than 30 times, and the same problem appears.

Firstly when you right click my computer and select properties, and on the general tab all the information under "computer" is gone (blank), and after a several minutes it will only show the Ram (which is 1 gigabyte for me).
When u run Dxdiag, the motherboard and bios inforamtion is marked N/A

Right after this occurs, the windows will not start up on the next time i turn my pc on. it will stop at the welcome screen for about 1 minute and then a blank desktop with no start menu or icons except for my wallpaper. I can only bring up the "task manger" and run programs and ect.

This has happened for the last 30 or so reformats, so i noticed that reformat is not the way.
i have also used ad-aware, regifix, norton, zone alarm and other softwares and none seems to help.
My PC runs fine for about 3 to 5 hours after a fresh reformat, but then the error will suddenly appears

i dont know if it is some new spyware or virus but it is very very annoying, everytime this occurs means i need to reformat since there is no other way to access to my desktop a second time after reboot.
This seems to occur after i have connect the pc to the net....but im not sure whether it is because of the net, because i use the net straight away after i reformat and reinstall all my softwares.

A:Windows XP Cannot detect Computer

Hi and Welcome to TSF

After you format the drive and install XP, are you installing all the neccesary drivers? Also after installing driver if SP2 is not incorporated on the cd you need to install this along with the other 45-50 updates.

Now after the fresh installation and important updates and drivers, how long will it run, with only these installed, before it starts acting like this?

It sounds like something your installing is pooching your system files

Just installed Windows 7. Runs like a charm, BUT when I reboot for the first time it comes back to the login screen with no keyboard. The keyboard lights are on, just wont detect it. Mouse works fine. Can login to the system with onscreen keyboard and everything else works fine. Tried new keyboards and ports. As soon as I unplug it and replug there are no lights on the keyboard at all. Tried uninstalling keyboard drivers and reinstalling but still no luck. Did 2 fresh installs of OS and same thing happens everytime. The keyboard works fine after the setup is complete, but once I reboot, no keyboard. Dell Tech support told me Windows 7 is not compatible with some USB keyboards. I think that is BS. Went out and bought a new Microsoft wireless keyboard that is made for Windows 7, still no dice.

I then installed Windows 7 32 bit, now everything works fine. Can reboot and keyboard works fine. This is OK for now, but I would really like to use all of my 4GB of RAM in 64 bit. I have a Intel Core 2 Quad, so 64 bit should work.

A:Windows 7 64 bit does not detect keyboard....

Try updating your chipset drivers on x64. It certainly sounds like a driver issue, doesn't it?
