I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey all, I had JUST bought this computer (YOGA 730 15.6'') and I skipped the fingerprint setup when initially setting up everything. I then went back to try and set it up, but the bar never loads as if it is setting up the fingerprint.  Everything is up to date according to lenovo vantage app, so I am just at a loss. Any help??

I've been using Yoga 720 15 about a week and Synaptics fingerprint sensor worked well. Recently I tried to use it to log in, but there was no sign of Windows Hello working. I tried to look up in settings, but it says that Hello is not supporting on this device. Device manager, however, shows that sensor is fine, no exclamation points or something indicating a problem. I tried to update fingerprint driver, but no use Has anyone faced the same problem?

I've been having trouble with the fingerprint sensor on my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga laptop (type 20FR) for the last week. It is now completely unresponsive after working just fine for months. In device manager it says "This device cannot start (Code 10)." I've tried disabling/enabling the device form device manager, uninstalling/re-installing the drivers, and wiping stored fingerprints from the BIOS settings. After wiping the fingerprints from BIOS settings and re-programming the fingerprint sensor from the Windows Hello settings menu, it worked for a day, but then the issue with the finger print sensor crashing returned. What do I do?

Something is weird with the fingerprint sensor. When it works, it works instantly and recognizes my fingerprint right away, no matter which part of the finger I use. The problem is that it's *constantly* forgetting my finger. It'll work fine, then I'll close my laptop and come back in a little bit and it doesn't work at all...fails three times and have to use my PIN. Once that happens it doesn't work again, at all, until I re-enroll my fingerprint at which time it works perfectly again for some time. I end up having to re-enroll once or twice a day. Lenovo Vantage pulled in a new version of the driver package today but it didn't help...the issue just happened again. Anyone know what the cause might be?

Hi there, I recently got myself a ThinkPag X1 Yoga as a work laptop after previously owning several other ThinkPads. I had the laptop set up by an IT colleague who installed the latest version Windows 10 Enterprise on it. I am having some troubles getting my fingerprint set up now though. Whenever I go the the setup and Windows prompts me to place my finger on the reader, the system crashes with the following messages as soon as I place my finger on the reader:  The system clearly recognizes the fingerprint reader as I get to that stage, and also because the error message only appears as soon as I place my finger on the fingerprint reader. I checked the driver and it's the latest one (6.0.19.1105). I also re-installed the driver but this didn't solve anything either. Could anyone help me with this issue?

I have two week old X1 Yoga (20FQ) and the fingerprint sensor seems to work very unstable. It worked fine for a while and and suddenly in Windows 10 login it didn't work at all. It seems to read multiple times as when I put my finger close to sensor it immediately gives "Too many failed attempts" message and asks to login with PIN-code. I removed the device and re-installed the latest drivers from Lenovo support page and it worked again for two days. And now again I cannot login using fingerprint sensor. As the issue was resolved for couple of days with reinstalling the device, it might not be a HW-issue. Is there any good diagnostic tools available or is there a place to change the sensitivity of the sensor? Many thanks in advance for all the help!

Randomly the sensor just stopped working and in the sign-in options, fingerprint isn't even an option. Windows hello says it is not available on this device. The biometrics was hidden in device manager and I uninstalled it. Downloaded the drivers from the lenovo support site and restarted, which did not work. Now the biometrics isn't even showing in the device manager. Any suggestions? My experience with Lenovo has been a mixed-bag...by far the best thinkpad I've owned and it was working great until it randomly starts dropping wifi connections and now the fingerprint reader. I don't understand how things just stop working all of a sudden. I make sure to keep the system updated - are there bad updates out there?

Hello dear community! The fingerprint reader of my Yoga 460 is not working properly. When I try to set up my fingerprint in Windows Hello it wants me to swipe my finger at least 20 times while the reader is flashing green and orange in irregular intervals. It looks like when a fingerprint is not identified as correct.I already tried different fingers and cleaned the device. I also tried to install the driver provided on the support page but I think Windows always installs the driver from Windows update as it is considered the latest driver.I am using the latest version of Windows 10 and the name of the device in the device manager is "Synaptics FP Sensors (WBF) (PID=0017)". Thanks for your help! Michael

Now the Windows Hello says that my device doesn't support that feature. In the device manager it indicates that the Windows can't load the driver (Code 31?). Hi, I think about purchasing this notebook: Yoga 730-15IWL ( 81JS000FGE ), Core i7-8565U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 3840x2160Specs:https://gzhls.at/blob/ldb/d/d/b/1/1b63925a9be3e8b134838cdefcf95ea559e8.pdf In the specs it says, that is has 8GB RAM soldered to the board and one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket. Can I simply purchase 16GB SO-DIMM RAM and put that into the laptop and will it then utilize 24 GB RAM?Has anyone yet tried this and confirm that it works with 24GB RAM? I know that in the specs it says 16 GB maximum RAM. But I think I've read somewhere that 24 GB would also be possible. Can anyone confirm this? And what about the warranty? If I need to send in the laptop I would remove the extra 16 GB RAM and that's not a problem concerning warrenty? Any hints are highly appreciated.Regards, jimbo

A:RAM Upgrade for Lenovo Yoga 730-15IWL ( 81JS000FGE )

I'm not 100% sure but "Ram soldered" usually means that the ram module is directly soldered onto the motherboard. So RAM would not be upgradable at all.

Hi, I have the Lenovo Yoga 720 15 IKB 80X7 (4K display), since many days ago, I'm currently posting this on 7-20-2017, the fingerprint of my laptop stopped working so now In the windows hello sign in menu it shows a message in which it says "Windows Hello is not available on this device", the fingerprint option doesn't appear there anymore. When I check the issue on the "update device drivers menu" an exclamation mark appears next to the synaptics drivers WBDI, in the section of biometric devices. When I click on it to see more information it appears this message: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31){Operation Failed}The requested operation was unsuccessful." I show you in the picture the information I get in the driver tab. I do not have the option to roll back the driver so I can't make it work again. I checked and it is the last driver available so far but it doesn't work. By the way I have the same exclamation mark and the same message of error in the driver "system interface foundation driver", code 31..., is there any link with it?I've already re installed windows twice through the option "reset this pc" from the configuration menu, one without deleting my files and the other removing all, but I still had the same issue with the fingerprint reader since the beginning of the new start, it didn't work. Does anybody have the same issue and a solution? Thanks in advance

On or in the metal hinge of my new lenovo yoga 730-15IWL laptop there are some white spot/marks. See attached photo with flash. I can't get them off with a cleaning cloth or rubbing with my finger. You can clearly see them when I put a direct light on it. Without a direct light shining on it it's harder to see. You can't feel the spots with your finger, the surface is just as smooth as the rest of the hinge. I noticed them as soon as I removed the plastic around the hinge. What is this? How can I get rid of these ugly white spots? It is an expensive laptop so I would not expect this.

I'd like to report a bug with the Rotation Sensor, which I believe is handled by HID Sensor Collection V2 The rotation sensor will not detect auto-rotation after a total shutdown. The only way to get it to work again is for the laptop to enter Sleep Mode, then upon waking up the laptop, it will re-enable the rotation detection. I believe this is some kind of bug with the ACPI system regarding the sensor. System Specifications:Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 20175OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit version 1709, Build 16299.371 (Fresh Install) HID Sensors Collection V2 Hardware ID's:HID\VID_2047&PID_0855&REV_1141HID\VID_2047&PID_0855HID\VID_2047&UP:0020_U:0001HID_DEVICE_UP:0020_U:0001HID_DEVICE Driver Provider: Microsoft .inf name: SensorsHidClassDriver.inf

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:
https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht503655

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Hi everyone, I'm experiencing a problem with my 2 days old Y2P. Every time I approach my right hand toward the screen, without even touching it, it goes black and the laptop goes to sleep mode (see the pictures attached for a better idea of the gesture). I have to press the keyboard to turn it on again. I figured that the system thinks that the screen was closed down and proceds with setting in place which was "sleep mode". I changed the setting of closing the laptop down to "do nothing", the problem is still there but instead of going to sleep mode the screen only goes dark and when a take of my hand the screen goes on again. I don't know where the proximity sensor is situated or if the detection of the closed laptop is made by the proximity which would a very stupid/cheap way to do that. Is anyone else having this issue? Are you guys at Lenovo aware of this issue and is there any fix on the way? Thank's to let me know if this issue software fixable or not so that I could return my laptop imediatly because it's very inconvegnant for a touch screen laptop. Thank's in advance for the answers ! In these positions the screen goes black and the laptop goes to sleep mode.

@Djalil97,My Y2P does not go into sleep mode if i were to do that. If your hand is not touching the screen does it sleep? Mine sleeps correctly. There is an app in Win that has an icon that shows 4 modes. Ensure that is enabled. You can confirm it on the "Desktop" then at the taskbar there is a small icon showing the modes as well. If you were to turn it into tablet mode, is there any prompt that you are in tablet mode? I realize it was having issues going into tablet mode when it was out of the box, then I went to the apps area and turn that mode thingy on and it has been fine ever since.

Hello, I had a fault in my Leovo X1 Yoga motherboard and got it replaced today.  After the new one was installed, the fingerprint reader stopped working correctly.  Specifically: 1. It shows up as working in Device Manager (I tried updating the driver, but it says the driver is already up to date).2. I can go into "windows hello" and go through the registration process.  However, once the fingerprint registration process is completed, windows hello doesn't update the status.  If I click on "set up" again, it starts all over as if I hadn't done it yet.3. On boot up, the fingerprint reader no longer activates.4. In rhe BIOS I confirmed that it is still set to use the fingerprint reader. The fact I can go through registration shows me that electrically, the reader is working fine. But that's the only thing that seems to make it work.  Any ideas are much appreciated! -Drew

So the "Suggested" options, as it may seems, supposed to use the light sensor and adjust the screen brightness corespondedly but instead it has the fixed brightness level, right in the middle between Darker and Brighter. It can never be the "Darker" or the "Brightest" as you may expect, it has always fixed value.  So my question is: Are there a way to make the light sensor actualy do the usefull job?

I have a brandnew Yoga 730 notebook. Stupidly, I spilt some coffee (with milk and sugar) over one side of it. I have noticed that the enter key end power button are not working well. So I want to clean under the keys. I have stripped the notebook as far as the keyboard and am looking at the back of the keyboard in the chassis. But I don't know how to go futher from this point. The keyboard seems to be conected. But not by screws I can undo. Anybody?

A:How do I remove the keyboard from a Yoga 730- 15iWL

First, usually (not always), liquids get into the electronics so that even if you get rid of the sticking, the unit is never reliable.  Coffee with sugar is a bad combination.  The coffee is acidic and the sugar is nearly impossible to completely remove.  I believe that if you sent it in for a paid-for repair, they would replace the entire top surface - keyboard and bezel.  Having said that, I have replaced the keyboards by themselves on very similar machines, but never a 730.  What I found was there were a very large number of very tiny screws that held the keyboard in from the back.  There were about 20 around the outside edge and a similar number scattered throughout the field.  I searched eBay for keyboard followed by my model and found a mixture of top assemblies and keyboards by themselves.  If you can get it apart, you can certainly try cleaning it, but I decided that I didn't want to take it apart twice so I replaced the keyboard

In order to find the driver you first would need to know what device is missing.  Have you seen or found anything thats not working on your device?  If not my next best suggestion is to use the lenovo recovery media at https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/lenovorecovery to get a a correct copy of windows for your device.  I would also call in to the support center if you have any warranty on your device.
