I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone.I saw other similar topics in the forum, but not specifically what I need to know.On the "Lenovo" page (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/mx/es/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-... display / compatible) says that my computer is compatible with the Intel processor, i7-4910MQ, I want to know if that is true, in the forum I found topics that say they are only compatible with versions earlier than that model. On the intel page I saw that this processor can support 32 GB of DDR3L 1333/1600 RAM (https://ark.intel.com/content/www/es/es/ark/products/78939/intel-core-i7- 4910mq-processor-8m-cache-up-to-3-90-ghz.html), so I want to know if that is possible. This is the information I have from my computer:Cores 2Threads 4Name Intel Core i7 4600MCode Name HaswellPackage Socket 947 rPGATechnology 22nmSpecification Intel Core i7-4600M CPU @ 2.90GHzFamily 6Extended Family 6Model CExtended Model 3CStepping 3Revision C0Instructions MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, Intel 64, NX, VMX, AES, AVX, AVX2, FMA3Virtualization Supported, DisabledHyperthreading Supported, EnabledStock Core Speed ??2900 MHzStock Bus Speed ??100 MHzManufacturer LENOVOModel 20AN006MUS (CPU Socket - U3E1)Version 0B98401 PROIntel Vendor ChipsetChipset Model HaswellChipset Revision 06Southbridge Vendor IntelSouthbridge Model QM87Southbridge Revision C1BIOSBrand LENOVOGLETA0WW Version (2.54)Date 08/27/2019PCI DataSlot OtherSlot Type OtherSlot Usage AvailableBus Width ... I am having an issue upgrading the proc and RAM in my Lenovo t440p (20ANS04504) notebook. I have done the following: 1. Removed power cord2. Removed battery3. Discharged static and wore an anti-static wristband4. Held the power button down for 30 seconds5. Removed the fan/unlocked the processor unit6. Removed the original processor unit7. Installed the new processor unit8. Locked the processor unit9. Screwed the fan back in10. Powered the notebook up When I power up, the power button remains lit (green) for 5 seconds then powers off. There is no error code nor a prompt for ThinkPad setup. When a swap the old processor back, I am able to boot. I've also done this same process when adding RAM. I get the same issue. I did research and received confirmation from forums, vendor and Lenovo FRU guides that I ordered the correct parts. Hello, I broken off a blade from the fan. Because I'd like to keep my T440p (3 years old) for 5 more years, I want to change the fan. I've seen many heatsink/fan models on eBay (original and aftermarket), and I wonder, if these are suitable for all T440p models? Is it possible to upgrade my CPU and RAM on my T440p?

A:T440p CPU and RAM upgrade

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, you can upgrade both. Max RAM is 16GB (2x 8GB), and you could install any CPU from the below list:

i5-4210M
i5-4300M
i5-4330M
i7-4600M
i7-4700MQ
i7-4710MQ
i7-4800MQ
i7-4900MQ

I'm only listing few models for the sake of keeping the list short. Basically any Haswell CPU should work.

To do this upgrades you need Lenovo's Hardware Maintenance Manual, which you can download from here:  click me!

That should be no problem, this mod has been reportedly done by many forum members. Is plug&play.

Hello everyone, I need to ask you a question about ram voltage of a t440p. It came with 4gb, and wanted to change one slot to a bigger memory module.Techincal data say this laptop uses ONLY DDR3L (1.35v) because of the Intel i5-4300 (which also states this in its tech sheet). My question arised when I opened the backplate and found there are already 2x2gb modules of DDR3 (1.5v) working in it. When searching for data sheets of the rams, both work only at 1.5v.What's happening? I really don't underestand if they are running in a lowered voltage state, or why they are working at all. Here's one of the modulesThank you in advance

A:[QUESTION] t440p RAM upgrade

Is this a second hand T440p? (I don't recall Lenovo installing Kingston Value RAM modules in ThinkPads...)

Basically there is nothing you should worry about, a T440p can use both 1.35v and 1.5v RAM if I remember correctly. And 1.5v RAM can also run at 1.35v.

If you plan to upgrade your RAM I would remove those modules (they're Kingston's cheap RAM line) and install 2x 4GB or 2x 8GB (the latter is the max RAM supported by this model).

I am the proud owner of a T440p / i7 4710/IPS/250SD/16GB onboard. It's still up to it task (except an issue with out of sync video/audio - connected to realtek driver? Anyways...) Two questions:- what upgrades could I do? I know I could get a little faster CPU - but probably not more than 10% faster.- if I went for a new machine, would a (for example) T480 - i7-8650u, be a real upgrade? I am in doubt, as cpu-reviews only give it a 10-25% speed advantage (and for multicore even less). Or are there real improvement options around? ThxTuur

I have a Lenovo T440p (20ANS04504; rPGA947 socket) notebook that currently has an i5 dual-core CPU.  I want to upgrade it to an i7 quad-core CPU.  The original CPU is an i5 with the following FRU: 04X4051 I have purchased the CPU below: Intel Core i7 Processori7-4900MQ, 2.8GHz, 8MB CacheProduct Code: BX80647I74900MQS-spec: SR15KS/N: 2W305002A1436Batch: J307A421 After I place the i7 CPU in, when I power up, the power button remains lit (green) for 8 seconds then powers off. There is no error code nor a prompt for ThinkPad setup. When a swap the old processor back, I am able to boot. I've talked to a few places and they have stated that it may be due to an incompatible socket type.  I looked at Intel's site and it states that the FCPGA946 is a supported socket type - http://ark.intel.com/products/75131/Intel-Core-i7-4900MQ-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz I looked at CPU World' site and it states that the rPGA946b is the supported socket type - http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SR/SR15K.html The FCPGA946 socket seems to be compatible with my rPGA947 socket since they are both G3.  Wiki says "Socket G3, also known as rPGA 946B/947 or FCPGA 946, is a socket for Intel microprocessors that supports Haswell-based mobile CPUs."Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Socket_G3 I have read that the "rPGA947 has one extra pin hole, but otherwise it is similar to the rPGA946. I have recently sourced a known-working i7 4800MQ processor to replace the i7 4600M in my 440p. The system is on the latest BIOS according to the Windows 10 update tool and I am already using the 20v 4.5A (90W) power brick. Swapping the processor, appling thermal compound and attaching the fan unit it simply won't power on with the new CPU - pressing the power button just flashes the power LED 3 times in succession (it never stays on to indicate the battery is charging) - no fans, no LCD, no beeps. Exchanging the processor back for the original 4600M it fires straight into life again. I've tried resetting the CMOS by leaving the coin cell unplugged for 30 minutes or more, static discharge by holding down the power button with everything disconnected. All of the normal tricks I can think of - nothing makes any difference.  I found one other case where a CPU upgrade caused the same symptoms: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/4iv5sn/t440p_cpu_upgrade_woes/  but not many people seem to have had problems using the faster processors from the qualified hardware list. Is there something I am missing here? John

I went into event viewer to see if there was any ACPI error's listed and this came up.

The exact Error that's provided via Event Viewer: Collaborative processor power controls on processor 5 in group 0 are disabled due to a firmware problem. Check with the computer manufacturer for updated firmware. This message is provided for each of my Processor Cores

Unfortunately, there are no new Firmware Updates for my laptop model from Asus. Last one was pushed in October 2014. Very odd seeing as i got this new in December 2014.

I want to know if this is something serious, or if i should just ignore it. An error having to due with Kernel Level Power Controls seems serious to me.

Can somebody give me a reference please?
My motherboard currently is a Gigabyte GA-7ZX Rev. 5.0, currently running with a AMD Duron Socket A 800MHz. I would like to upgrade the motherboard with a AMD XP 2400+, but does my motherboard support that? I tried to find the info from Gigabyte, but either they don't post that because the board isn't the newest, or I looked in the wrong places.
Can somebody help?

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-S480 and I'd like to upgrade the processor in hopes to get better performance from my machine. My question is this: If I upgrade the processor will I need to upgrade the system board as well? Will my current board support a faster processor? Is this even a possibility? I've had the computer for about three years now, but it's still a good computer. I'd just like to step it up a notch or two.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice offered!

I am using a
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2400+, ~2.0GHz
System Manufacturer: VIA Technologies, Inc.
System Model: KT400A-8235
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG

I want to updrade it !

what can i upgrade it to though?

A:What Processor can i upgrade to?

KT400A-8235 isn't a make, it's a chipset pair made by Via tech.

You need a Socket A (also known as Socket 462) CPU. I'm not familiar with them, but I think that the fastest CPU for it could be an Athlon XP 3200+. You'd need information on your particular motherboard to know whether its BIOS supports that. (Key feature: 400Hz FSB.)

You may not be able to buy a Socket A CPU at retail, because of the age of the platform. They seem to be readily available on eBay.

I can't say whether such an upgrade would be worth the effort.

hi i Run a Lan center and im looking to upgrade the computers
this is what they have
k7s8x asrock mother boards with AMD 2600+ socket A
now it says if i flash the bios i can upgrade the processors to AMD 3000+ sockets

would it be much of a increase preformance that i should upgrade ?
it runs games now with frame rate of like 20 to 25 i wish to get the frame rate to atleast 35 to 40 we got decent video cards in there now 6200s but still haveing performance issuses

A:Should I Upgrade my Processor???

If money is no object then you might as well go ahead and do it. However, IMO it would not be worth the cost. I doubt the performance increase would be that significant and with an old Socket A motherboard you can't really upgrade to anything current. Personally, I would keep the current processor and just wait until you get an entirely new computer with socket AM2 or something like that.

Of course, if you want to buy it and sell me your current CPU for a good price... It is pretty difficult to even find Socket A processors these days.

Hi,

I want to upgrade the processor of my PC.
My current processor is an AMD Athlon XP, 1466 MHz (11 x 133) 1700+ motherboard: Asus A7V8X

I know that my motherboard will support any and all AMD XP processors so I wanted to go for the AMD XP3200+ , what do you guys think?

The XP3200+ that runs on the 400Mhz FSB and has 512KB of L2 Cache should give me a very significant upgrade in speed.
Would I need PC3200 RAM (400Mhz) to go with that CPU?
How can I know if my actual ram slot are 400Mhz or less?

How much and in what way I would see the increase of performances of my PC?
thank you
