WWW server failing to start

Q: WWW server failing to start

The WWW, FTP and Mail servives are all failing to start with the error "the data area passed to a system call is too small". The only additional software is SQL Server 2000. Running IIS 5.0 and Windows Service Pack 2 and SQL Server Service Pack 2.

Preferred Solution: WWW server failing to start

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Seagate 400GB External Harddrive connected to my server via USB. I have a folder on it that I have set to "Share". At seemingly random times it just stops and a message appears on the server saying the HD was removed without being stopped. So I remove the share feature of the folder and add it again. Then it works again.

I am wondering if it is too many people connected on a device using a USB. Or if there is some reason why you should not use an external HD as a share folder?

The power is plugged into the battery backup so it is not a brownout/powerout.

Any ideas?

A:External HD as File Server failing

I've seen other people posting about difficulties in using a USB external drive with sharing. I've done it without issue, but yours doesn't seem to be an isolated case.

I don't know from what you've said what the problem could be.

Man, I've done it now.

My machine is really screwed up now. My network connections are now non-existent (can't access my backups now). This WISPTIS.exe seems to be hogging my system (contant CPU utilization). System restore, laplink, hardware manager are all non-responsive. Even the set of window placeholders at the bottom of the taskbar have disappeared (although alt-tab seems works). Even safe mode doesn't seem to make it possible to address this stuff.

Any suggestions out there? Without network access, I can't easily backup my most recent file changes, which I had not done over the last few days.

I tried to install SQL Server 2000 and just couldn't get it to work right so I tried to uninstall. It didn't seem to completely uninstall so I then used system restore to go back to a much earlier time. That's when the problems started.

Last week I installed Win Server 2003 in our small office network,

This morning, one of the XP PC's failed to connect to the Server

even though it now connects to the server, it wont connect to the

About 10 seconds after turning on computer I get an error message saying the computer will restart because the DCOM server launcher fails. It says it's authorized by nt authority. I know how to stop it from shutting down with shutdown -a.
If I let it reboot after it counts down, it boots up fine. Another issue seemingly connected is that I lose internet connectability after a certain amount of time when it is on.
I'm fairly certain it's a virus, or at least I'm hoping it is, because that woudl be the simplest solution (and hopefully somewhat easy to fix). Here's my HJT log. Please offer me any help you can.

I've got about 40 Senor Point of Sale tablets running Windows 7. They work just fine, but are failing to take Windows Update for Service Pack 1 (KB97632). The POS software is soon going to need this update in order for it to continue working.

I've deleted the Windows Update cache (SoftwareDistribution >> SoftwareDistribution.old) and nothing changed.

I've downloaded the update .exe and after it ran, nothing changed.

Check for Windows Updates only shows the SP1 update when I click to search online for updates, for what it's worth.

After the update has failed, I get error code 800736b3.

Apparently the billion and two solutions other people have aren't solutions for me.

Please help me!

I have an Acer Aspire 5742 6824 with Window 7 on it.
Lately it's been having problems with starting up. A white dash will appear in the top left part of the screen and then the big Acer symbol will show up (Like usual) Then it will suddenly shut down. The shut down is only for a moment before it roars to life again and repeats the same process. I have no idea how long it would do it if I left it, but it just keep repeating. I have no idea how I'm stopping it either. I tried holding the power button, but that doesn't seem to work at all. Often I end up just clicking random buttons on my keyboard until it finally continues the start-up like normal. I then restart my computer.
How do I fix this problem?

A:Failing to start up

Can you boot into the Advanced Boot Options?
Immediately after pressing the power button start tapping the F8 key.  You will see a image similar to the one below.

Use the up or down key to navigate to Disable automatic restart on system failure and press Enter.
With the automatic restart disabled you should receive blue screen with a ***STOP: error similar to the one in the image below.

Copy the error exactly and include it in your next post.
If you are unable to boot into normal mode, go back to the Advanced Boot Options and click on Safe Mode with Networking.

Hi guys I'm having this error the "boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible ...oxc000000e"
Basically what is happening is the past week or 2 I have been getting the BSOD kernel data inpage error at random times during gaming. After some research I downloaded crystal disk info and found my HD is running at a peak of 66 celsius!
Well now at random it decides to not even start up and I now have the boot manager failure.
I have Taken my hd out and put it into my girlfriends Hp Touchsmart 310 and after running my system restore disk everything booted up fine so I've made the assumption my Hd is still alive but why is this happening? Is my Mobo acting up? I couldn't boot her Hd in my pc either. I'm confused at this point and have no experience prior to this type of problem. Also I figured this was the best place to post this, if not please move it thank you all

Note: I do not have my windows disk that's why I made my own off my girlfriends pc.

Hi all.
I have a DELL Dimension XPS 420 that's failing to start up.
It gets to the second screen, ie past the first that has the dell logo and options of f2 and f12.
On the second screen, it tells me that my RAID-0 setup is normal and that both hdds are working. Extensive diagnostics detected no problems and i have tried unplugging and replugging my two dvd drives and two hdds. Not too confident about pulling anything else out, never built my own machine before. It has successfully booted once since the error first appeared and I have no idea why. I assumed something had fixed the problem and it was gone, but it returned after one restart and I can't get it to start up once again.
I am absolutely at a loss for how to deal with this. Any help would be appreciated.

I was turning my computer on, when it just shutdown 3 seconds later. Like its making its progress then shutdown...Also the power button was a little pushed in farther than usual dont know if that has anything to do with it. Anyways it took me roughly 5 tries before the computer would start. Does this have anything to do with computer dieing? or maybe power supply isn't giving required power at start?

A:Computer is failing to start.

It could be the ps, system instability, hard drive issues, lots of things. Lets start with the power button. What do you mean it was pushed in further than usual? If it is getting stuck I can see it being in a powerdown loop.

As probably many of you, I got asked to do updates last week or so, and I didn't switch off my computer since then as I've been reading here and there that there were problems occuring.

The thing is I thought of doing a backup before anything happens and today, a power cut occured, and it won't pass through the blue screen saying "Update failed, cancelling changes, don't switch off the computer".

I'm running Windows 7 Premium family edition. Has any of you experencied the same thing ? And if so, is there any way to get my files back ? I have too many important things to lose, any help would be gladly appreciated.

It seems some others are having a similar problem but thought I had to start my own post?

Yesterday and this morning my pc refuses to boot initially. Sometimes it goes to the POST and stops there, sometimes to the windows 7 screen and stops there. I managed to start in safe mode but the only thing odd in there was 'C: was ok, A: (floppy) ok, D: was renamed 'F' and E: was ok (I have a TSSTcorp DVD drive and a Lite-On lightscribe drive).

Also, after the first few attempts to start, the recovery window opened and tried to repair and even gave the option to system restore but to no avail (on the reboot it froze again). I did notice on the top of the 'repair' window it said 'Windows 7 on 'D:' drive, which I thought was odd because obviously my operating system is on 'C:'!!

Eventually (and I hadn't done anything) my pc started up and now I have 'C:' 'A:' ' E:'........no D or F? At one point I did insert my W7 disk hoping to boot from it but on the black screen it said 'CD, no boot mgr found'. But thinking about that, if I had put it in the drive that now doesn't exist, that could have been the cause of that problem.

Sometimes the drawer seems tempremental on my TSSTcorp drive (the one that doesn't show up now), could this drive be causing the startup problem with my computer?? I can disconnect it but not sure if this would have anything to do with it.

There's not a whole bunch of options if the system won't boot to windows.
First off, if you can see the file - back them up to external media (a USB drive of some sort is usually the easiest way).

Then try (in this order):
- Startup repair
- System Restore
- DISM/SFC.EXE (I can't recall if these will run from the Command Prompt)
- Refresh
- Reset (wipes everything out!)

A:Failing to start after overheating

Please post the make and model. I would recommend dusting out the computer to prevent another over heat. Heat is a computers enemy. Have you tried booting to safe mode?
Generally you can get to safe mode by tapping F8 many times after powering on the machine, this will bring up the boot menu options. Use your arrow keys to highlight safe mode with networking. From there you can try a restore point etc.

Yesterday, I ran into some problems with my Adobe products, Photoshop, After Effects, etc. wherein the program would begin to load, the splash screen would appear, but the program would give the "x has stopped working" error message and close down. It would always occur when the splash screen showed "Initializing", near the end of the load. I ended up uninstalling CS6, installing the trial for their 2015 product, CC, and this showed the same problem. I contacted adobe and they were less than helpful.

I noticed that there were some other programs not opening. Namely a few games, and Blizzards Battle.net client. Again, a loading splash screen would appear, and during loading it would close down, except without an error message this time.

I decided to download MalwareBytes, but this wouldn't load either. I tried downloading MalwareBytes Chameleon, to try and end any processes that might prevent MalwareBytes from opening. It did open, but failed to fix it. I rebooted in safe mode, and both Battle.net and MalwareBytes opened fine, however MalwareBytes didnt find any threats. (Edit: Photoshop also worked in safe mode)

I've got a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-1AF which wont start, it stopped working a few weeks ago and i tried startup repair and things and nothing seemed to work it just kept loading up a black screen with a cursor but nothing else. After a bit more research i discovered how to restore it to factory settings by holding the 0 key etc. when i tried this it got to 54% and then the screen just went black and now it wont start up. it just comes up with:

- windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

Info: the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

It also says insert your instalation disk but I didnt get one when i bought it.

What does this mean and how can i fix it? I tried the factory restore way and that just made it even worse.

Any help or advice would be highly appreciated

A:Satelite Pro L300-1AF is failing to start

> It also says insert your instalation disk but I didnt get one when i bought it.
That?s your first problem. This notebook model was delivered without recovery discs but preinstalled software that you can use to create recovery media. All this is clearly described in user?s manuals document.
Now your original Vista OS is gone. On this virtual way I cannot say for sure what the problem is but somehow I think the HDD is troublemaker.

What to do now? At first you need Windows installation disc for OS installation. Original Vista is not usable anymore so my advice for you is to obtain Win7 32bit installation disc and try to install it on your machine. Win7 is fully supported so there is no problem to install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities.

Set BIOS to default settings and try to install Win7. If the same problem occurs again and installation will be interrupted I?m afraid HDD is defective. If possible try to obtain other HDD for testing purposes.

You know you must play a bit with your machine now and find out what the problem is.

I'm having problems with my new computer, which I built it myself.

Basically, my computer fails so start-up sometimes (My motherboard produces a long beeep sound. GPU not running at all, but the rest of the components seems to be running - eg. USB, Ethernet etc).

Also, it will sometimes freeze while running some basic programs which are not really RAM or GPU demanding such as web browsers.

Finally, BSOD whenever I'm running some graphically intensive games (which theoretically, my computer should be able to handle.)

I've ran memtest86 for each of my ram and there were no signs of any ram defunct. Therefore, I'm speculating that the problem is either the GPU, CPU or the Motherboard itself. However, I'm not sure which one should I change. I've attached my 3 dump files, all of which seems to point to different sources of error.

Below is the specs of my computer:

Gigabyte H55M-USB3
Intel Core i3 CPU [email protected] GHz 3.06 GHz 4MB
4 GB DDR3 Ram (3.49 GB usable)
500 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive
450W Power Supply
Gigabyte GT 430 1GB PCI-E Graphic Card
Windows 7 Professional 32 bit OEM

By the way,

Intel Core i3 CPU 4 MB Cache [email protected] GHz 3.06 GHz

So is my processor running at 3.07 GHz or 3.06 GHz?

Please help me with this issue as the main objective of my new computer is to be able to run some new games which my old computer couldn't handle. With this issue, I couldn't even tell the difference... Read more

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:

I was doing the 5 steps stuff, I scanned with spybot search and destroy, and adaware which found some stuff and removed it, then I scanned with the online panda one, and it found some more spyware and a hackingtool/rootkit.

I know I just installed messenger plus before this happend, and I think think system mechanic, and ccleaner, I have uninstalled them since, after uninstalling messenger plus though the error was only Filedisk driver not loading, but now its all of them agian, I dunno anything about this stuff and its pretty frustrating -_-, could malware/spyware or the hacking tool thing stuff be the reason the start up drivers aren't loading? I dont have a windows xp CD, I know I use to to, but no idea where it would be now, my pc is kinda old, around 5 years or so, I can only be in safe mode now.

I recently upgraded my computer to windows 7, and with that came a full wipe (I was running XP before). Because of this, I need to redownload a lot of the programs I had before, but I've been running into a problem. The installers for programs all fail to start.

I can see them in the process menu of the task manager, but they get to a seemingly random memory usage and then just stops. the same program will always stop within about 5 K memory usage of where it stopped before. (ex. MapleStory always stops between 4713-4718, and another program always stopped at 1715-1720)

The only programs I can get to start are the ones I run from CDs. I did get google chrome downloaded and installed no problem.

I tried running in selective start up mode, but it didn't fix anything.

A major example of this is maplestory. I've tried multiple mirrors and the downloader from nexon but none work.

any help appreciated

I've had this issue a few days now and am trying to troubleshoot it. It's a Windows XP SP3 machine. A few days ago MSE stayed red on booting the PC. A restart fixed it. The next day it did this again and a restart did not fix it. I had Superantispyware installed as well and ran a full scan- 7 minutes into this scan MSE turns green. Full scan finds no malware anyway. Reboot and MSE works. This morning I ran the PC for an hour, things worked fine, shut down a bit then restarted and MSE failed to start. Reboot and still not working. Waited 10 minutes, it didn't come on, I had to uninstall MSE and reinstall the program, which now works.

I've only installed a few games recently, all gog.com downloads. A week or so ago right before this began I switched XP to classic mode. While I doubt it's the cause, could the switch to classic mode have caused a conflict?

I uninstalled SAS in case it was suddenly conflicting though it hasn't before.

I did some Google searching and found a suggestion to make sure 3 services were set to automatic start- RPC Locator, BITS and Windows Installer. 2 of the 3 were set to manual, I changed them to automatic. I haven't had MSE fail to start again after several reboots.

So what's the problem? Did SAS suddenly conflict? Did changing themes to classic cause an issue? As unlikely as it sounds could the games be a problem(most bundle DOSbox with them)? I've 100% ruled out malware as this PC isn't used much and I only install trusted programs and even so I... Read more

I'll try and keep this to the point.

While attempting to fix an error with my RAM I reset my computers BIOS to the default values. After doing so, my computer fails to start. I realize I shouldn't have blindly reset my BIOS without any backup, but hey.

I've been attempting to reinstall Windows 7 from a USB flash drive, but whenever I try I get the error message "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" and get the option to find it on my machine. I googled this and it seems the problem is usually a bad install disk. I'm fairly sure the install I'm using is good.

I'm using Windows 7 64 bit and my motherboard is an ASUS M5A97 PRO running the ASUS UEFI BIOS Utility. Thankyou for taking the time to read this and I appreciate any help you're able to give.

A:[SOLVED] Windows 7 Failing to Start

Your USB flash drive may be missing some Windows files, you may need to rebuild it.
Boot into the Bios go to Boot Priority and make sure that USB is the First Boot Device. When you restart the computer, with the drive in, you should see the message. Press Any Key to Boot From USB, if the flash boots, and you start to load Windows but it fails, it is because there are files missing from the Windows Install, try rebuilding it again.

Hello and Happy New Year!I'm having a wee bit of trouble with my Windows XP system and I'm hoping this particular problem will be an easy one to solve. (My unit: Dell XPS 600)Beginning in early November my computer began crashing. When checking my 'Event Log' there is an ERROR log around this time (or leading up to each crash) that reads:Source: Service Control ManagerCategory: NoneEven ID: 7026Description: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: LbdnvraidTo make a long story sort of short, for the last two weeks I've been trying to research and troubleshoot the BSOD problems, which first lead me to a possible driver failure associated with my printer after sending the error report to Microsoft. I updated this and included many other "optional" updates to hardware and software. Soon after, I received new BSOD error messages, which led me to discover RAM failure using Microsoft Memory Diagnostics. I'm not certain that this problem was always the problem or was a result of the hardware/software driver failure the first BSOD screens pointed me to. I have since replaced both modules (going from 2 - 512modules to an upgrade of 2G). Now I currently do NOT have any BSOD problems (this is only day two) BUT now that I'm paying closer attention to the Event Log (because I'm not certain this fixed my bigger problem), I have noticed that the original ERROR is still occurring with each boot up.I'm concerned that ... A:System-start driver(s) failing to load

Lbd.sys is a Lavasoft Ad-Aware driver, while nvraid.sys is an nvidia raid driver.FWIW: If you adjust your viewing options, you can see the full file name, rather than just the first portion of it...as is reflected on your original post. Doing so makes it a lot easier to figure out what file is being referenced, since various types of files may possibly have the same initial portion of a given filename.http://www.fileinfo.com/help/windows-show-extensions.htmlThe error message either relates to installed drivers which need to be replaced...or they relate to items which have been removed from yur system but which have startup pointers. If Ad-Aware is currently installed...I suggest that you uninstall it...then reinstall it with a more current version from the Lavasoft website. If Ad-Aware is not currently installed...download/install AutoRuns for Windows - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx. Take a look at the Logon tab only.If you see anything on the list that relates to Ad-Aware or Lavasoft...disable it by removing the check mark. The nvraid.sys driver...are you running a RAID configuration?FWIW: I have an nVidia chipset on this system, but I don't have a nvraid.sys file installed and I don't use the RAID capability of the motherboard. So I would check the BIOS to see how yours is set up.LouisEdited to remove unintended comment.

I recently decided to remove one of my hard drives for use in another PC.

Ever since removal I have not been able to boot back into Windows, I just get a black screen with a flashing _ in the left hand top corner.

I have tried Startup Repair and also manually rebuilding the MBR.

The partition status when I have a look at it with Acronis Disk Director is also marked as Active, System and Boot.

I did notice at the bottom of the startup repair diagnosis and repair log that I have attached to this post that is says "Boot status indicates that the OS booted successfully."

It would be a great if someone could help me with this problem, it's really starting to drive me nuts now.

A:Start up failing after removal of second hard drive

As you removed your first HD Drive.

Boot up using the Startup Repair CD or Windows 7 DVD. (not the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disk) If you have a Netbook, you will need a CD/DVD drive.
NOTE: Make sure no USB drives are plugged in.
Do not use a USB Pendrive for Startup Repair.
startup repair disc-create

Do a Strartup Repair:

Note: You may need to do startup repair 3 to 4 times.

Hey there, lately my computer has been having these symtoms:

- Hanging while left on and not used
- Crashing Randomly, maybe 5 Minites into startup
- Failing to start with a black screen where i should reach the login screen but i dont
- Failing to start with the message "A Disk Read Error Has Occured"

The only way i have found around these problems, was taking the case off and disconnecting wires to the hard drive or the mother board and then putting them back in, even then i may have to restart it once or twice.

Please Assist

- Thankyou

it was working alright but suddenly just jamed, the curser could not move, led light could not blink. then i did a force shut down using a power button. after some second, tried to switch it on but to my suprise, pc never booted, it only starts( i could see LED lights, fun whirling but the screen could not light up) and then after about 10 sec, it turns off. i tried to intall a different RAM but but it did the same.

A:my laptop is failing to start, it shuts its self before boot...

Since it failed while running, it could have been a hardware failure.  It could be software, but since the screen does not come on, probably hardware.  Without the model number, not much better help can be given.  If it was me, I would try to get it to boot to a Linux Live CD to test if the hardware was indeed the problem.  Disconnect the hard drive or remove it, and then make the Linux CD on a working computer and then put it in the DVD/CD drive of this problem PC and try to boot to that.Since it came with Windows 8.1, it probably has UEIF BIOS.  Try tapping Esc or F10 as soon as try a start.  If that comes up, then change boot device to DVD/CD.

I'm running Windows XP 7 on a HP EliteBook 8440p laptopI installed three updates, including the latest Windows 7 Service Pack and now my computer will not start up again. The Startup Repair tool is detecting no errors. The system restore tool warns me that my diagnostic power is low and a restore can not be reversed. I ran a chk dsk and no errors were found and fixed there either. What can I do?

I am running Windows Vista (32-bit) and when I tried to open Google Chrome I got the message "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the Event Log for more information". When I tried to open the Event Viewer from the start menu nothing happened. I subsequently discovered that the start menu appeared to be locked or frozen, as I couldn't click on anything. In order to use the start menu again I logged off via Ctrl+Alt+Del and got a message that said there were "too many other files in use by 16-bit programs".

I've worked around the Chrome issue by downloading it again off another browser (without uninstalling) and it appears to be ok. But I had a similar issue when Windows Update wasn't working and programs weren't opening and the start menu was subsequently locking.

I'm assuming there's some broader issue with my system given the issues I'm having opening certain programs/services from the start menu and it then becoming locked/unusable.

Has anyone had the same issues and is there a solution?

Hey everyone...

My New Viao thats just 2 weeks old got the best of me. It currently has Vista business.

It all started when I was download a movie that required Via. I installed quick time and restarted the labtop. After logging in to desktop. i received "explorer has stopped working". i was not able to log on to my desktop from then on. when i would open the task manager to run explorer i would errors and i wasnt able to restart explorer.

i restarted the computer is safe mode with cmd. did a sfc scan.
it told me that it was 99% complete but it was not able to fix all the corrupted files. i then did a chkdsk scan, and re-did the sfc scan. same out come. i have the CBS log to see which files it couldn't fix.

Now every time i log on to desktop, everything starts failing,
"windows live mseeneger stopped working, "host process for windows services stopped working" , 'windows media player stopped working" my Internet explored disappeared and i get a "Iexplorer is not a valid win32 application". It cant install the drives when i insert a USB key. i even get the blue screen of death at times.

I did a system restore and it didnt help. i tried to repair windows through my vista cd, and it didnt detect anything ot repair. I'm really stumped on this. I do know that everything works in safe mode.

i have the file i got from System file checker, i didnt want to post it, theres alot of text!
