Preferred Solution: Need Asus Bios Flash utility

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello SF members.

Note : I dont know where to put this topic. If you know better , move it.

I already asked some questions here, some members helped me a lot but I need help again.

In one topic I asked how to Overclock. I learned it , and know more about it.
But now my problems is my BIOS. I dont know how to use it. That isnt classic....
I dont have to edit time or HDD slave, not to do anything harder !

My BIOS is same as http://images.anandtech.com/doci/4499/ASUS%20BIOS%201%20-%20EZ%20Main.png

My motherboard is ASUS P8H61-M LX2 and it have latest ASUS BIOS (EFI BIOS Utility- EZ mode , I attached one link here to see).

My questions are :
1. Can I back normal BIOS like one old ?
2. How to use that ? Is there any tutorial for this ?

That is all for now.
Thanks in advance.

A:How to use ASUS EFI Bios Utility - EZ Mode ?

Did you read your MB manual. It has a section on the Bios that explains all the options. If you click on the Advanced Mode it will look a lot like the old bios with lots of options.

I am trying to update the BIOS and went here to use their update utility:

ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P5Q-E

However, the software Afudos BIOS update tool V2.36 will not load (3rd item of the above web page's list)!?!?

What do I do now? Any other BIOS update utility compatible to the Asus P5Q-E?

I am having these problems: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...ing-start.html

A:Asus P5Q-E motherboard bios update utility software won't install?

You could have a corrupt file. I would down load a new copy and try it.

Here is a link to Asus for your board.

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P5Q-E

If that doesn't work here is a link to an engineering ver of AFUDOS that may work.

Afudos Engineering - Download

Try those out as the first attempt. The engineering ver will let you downgrade if you need to.

Because of UEFI PXE boot issues, I see we need to update/flash bios. I can either flash currently running system, or create a flash usb drive for other units. My question is - is it possible and supported, that I would create one USB drive for multiple models, so that drive would contain multiple bios roms and hardware unit could select appropriate one? Or do I need to create unique usb flash drive per a model?

A:ThinkPad BIOS Flash Update Utility - T460

Hello Judith,
Select the ThinkPad BIOS update option.  BIOS updates do happen from time to time.  Some users choose to not update, but from the readme it appears that the latest update includes a security fix - so it's probably a good idea.
Once in a great while a BIOS update goes awry and causes serious problems.  I've never had that happen but YMMV.

So I told her to look at the BIOS setting and it only recognise the Optical Disc Drive of

Is there anything I can do? I tried opening the desktop case and see everything is loose, but everything was still in tact.

A:Hard Disk Drive not found in ASUS UEFI BIOS Utility - EZ Mode

Try reinstalling the driver, changing cables. If it can't be recognized then boot the maker's diagnostics DOS CD scan to test it - Seatools if there isn't one - or Partition Wizard bootable CD surface scan. If these won't see it you can slave it to another PC to try Disk Check or see if it will see it. If not then I'd replace it.

Do a Clean Reinstall on the replacement drive from tutorial in my signature below if you want it perfect.

Friends I'm pretty sure I have used Dell's flash util under Windows 7 previously with no issues. But today I'm trying to run their BIOS update A11 for an Optiplex GX620 and it fails under my normal [admin priv.] account, under the Administrator account, under the Administrator account "Run As Administrator". It will load, give the "ok to proceed" but when it tries to config to run at Boot time, it fails.

This system has Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit

Anyone have a cure for this disease?

A:Dell Opti GX620 Bios Flash utility under Win7 Ultimate?

One of two ways,

1. If you have a floppy drive,

Drivers and Downloads

and follow the instructions under "Run the BIOS update utility from DOS environment (Non-Windows users)".

2. If the above isn't available (no floppy drive) and if you have a spare hard drive (or even a second drive with a small partition will do in a pinch), install XP on it (don't need to worry about updates or anything, only going to need it long enough to run the bios update) and then run the bios update from there. If you do decide to go this route make sure to disconnect the drive with Windows 7 on it (and any other drives) so you don't mess up the 7 install, and end up with a broken bootloader.

One of the reasons that I have not flashed the bios is because, no matter how many times I read it, their instructions never seem clear to me. I may be making a mountain out of a mole hill, but I want to be confident that I know what I'm doing. The confusion is on some fairly minor points...They go into detail about creating a floppy and placing the afudos.exe, which is the bios utility, on the floppy, but they never say that the same should be done for the bios itself. Therefore, I don't know whether to put both on the same floppy, or on separate floppies. The instructions also speak of using EZflash, lower on the page, put it isn't clear if this is part of afudos or something else. Here is their instructions, if someone will decipher it for me:

Hey, I hope someone can help me with this problem. I got new RAM in my computer no problems. Then, I got inspired to run Nvidia NTune to optimize my system. It started running, then the system hung up. No way to unhang.

So, I read more about NTune - I discover it says you should have fairly recent BIOS. I don't - my current BIOS is probably almost 3 yrs old.

So, I plan to flash my BIOS: in DOS (from startup boot disk), with AWDFLASH.exe, and what I believe is a recent A8N-SLI BIOS, 1805.BIN, and I rename it like the instructions say, to what I believe should be the correct name: "A8NSLI-B.BIN."

AWDFLASH.exe proceeds to back up old BIOS, and then goes to look for the BIOS, as named: I get some message about the BIOS being wrong.

What am I doing wrong? Is the name of the BIOS file not supposed to be in CAPS? Is ".BIN" not supposed to be in caps?

I have searched around on the interwebs for some ideas (Techspot, Anandtech, Tomshardware, etc.) , and basically find: 1. BIOS flash for A8N-SLI Deluxe either goes smoothly, or people have lots of problems; 2. various conflicting instructions; 3. Asus does not seem to be supporting this decent MB anymore.

Help - any ideas? My comp is in the profile, AMD 3800 x2, Win XP, except that I have gone to 2GB (1 gb x 2 pc3200 OCZ ram (install was perfect), up from 512 x 2 of Kingston ValueRAM. THX!!

I am looking at ASUS' support, and am planning to flash my BIOS to an updated version, as I have exhausted all other attempts at stabilizing my system.

Asus H 170 Pro is the Motherboard and I thought that is a good idea to update the bios (after that I've realised that was not)
I've copied the Bios update file (H170-PRO-ASUS-1803.cap) to a 4GB flash FAT32 and hit update. After the progress bar rich the end, I restarted following the bios update dialog.
At this point, all I have it's a black screen with the USB flash plugged in or If I remove the flash, I can access the UEFI but there is a single option: " to finnish BIOS update you have to select the same BIOS file (.cap file) again to continue updating the BIOS. "; sounds good enough but If I hit OK and choose via Storage devices option EZ doesn't see the flash.
I've read about the size of the flash and I've shrinked in cmd to 400MB formated again to FAT32 and after that I've copied the .cap file.
Unfortunately, the same result, the flash is not available using any of the USB mobo's ports.
Anyway, there is no SSD/HDD/optical drive plugged in.
Not so sure about the indicated File Path: fs0:\ where it is more exactly and if matter.
The stick should be bootable?
There is a second option using the internet but I don't have wifi and if I plug the Ethernet cable first I have to communicate the MAC to the provider (which is not possible as far as I know at this phase) in order to make it available.
Any advice? I appreciate it!

One of my XMS2 sticks failed, so I took the stick out, went into BIOS and loaded default settings. I pressed F10 and saved settings. My computer abruptly shut off and turned back on to go to "boot block" My BIOS got corrupted for no apparent reason. It asked to be fed a CD or USB drive, so I went to my laptop, downloaded the M4A785M BIOS and renamed it, quick formatted the flash drive to NTFS, and put it in the machine. The machine read the flash drive, erased, programmed, and told me to reboot to get system back. Now nothing, just a blank screen, no POST. All fans and lights, the hard drive turns on. I have replaced both sticks with a cheap 2GB PNy stick confirmed working. RAM is not the issue.

I am guessing that something quite wrong was done in 2.20 (and it persists into 2.21). There was no such errant behavior with 2.19, as I've confirmed by reinstalling 2.19.  Works perfectly and boots promptly and the BIOS Setup utility works lickity-split with 2.19, just like it always has.  But with the install of 2.20 the behavior changed drastically.
Looking at the README for BIOS 2.20 this definitely seems like the culprit:
[Problem fixes]- Fixed an issue where fan might rotated with max speed due to not reading CPU   temperature correctly.- Fixed an issue where system might not boot to OS when attached an external monitor   and its USB3 devices.- Fixed an issue where network boot might happened at reboot after resume from suspend   by Wake On LAN.
At first I thought I had blown the BIOS update, since my screen was simply black for what seemed like 1-2 minutes after displaying the Lenovo logo and "press ENTER to interrupt" message.  I pressed ENTER repeatedly but nothing happened, for a long time.  Eventually, the hard drive activity LED on the P70 started flashing, and seemingly almost 2 minutes later, the machine came to life and boot process continued normally.
Then, once I entered the BIOS, I used the right-arrow key to navigate through the tabs.  No problem until I got to the Security tab and then pressed right-arrow one more time to navigate into the Boot tab... and it hung!  Didn't go ri... Read more

This is my first post here, so hi to everyone.
I just got an ASUS X401a Notebook and I want to use a flash drive to boot from Linux.
I need to change the sequence in the BIOS so that the flash drive is first choice to boot from.
I have no problem accessing the BIOS utility, but it allows me to alter only some settings. Those in blue colored font I can change those in black font I cannot. What drive to boot from first is in black and not adjustable.
I used command line to work as admin and I also set up a password for admin in the BIOS to access the BIOS utility, but still no go; some things are allowed to be changed some aren't.

Any help is appreciated.

It's not really about overclocking, but power savings. I have not used it myself. You can certainly do without it, but if you are interested in seeing what effects lower energy usage settings have (if any) on performance in day to day use, you might be able to save some energy.

ASUS board, 1 year old, has the Asus Probe Utility for, among other things,
monitoring the fans, incl. the PS fan, the CPU fan, and one of my 3 case

All of a sudden, it says that the chassis (case) fan isn't running, and is
giving an audible "bonk" warning sound. But the fan IS running.

It's plugged in to the board.

What's wrong, can anything be done to fix this?

I hate to turn the utility off, but don't want to listen
to that bonking all the time, incl in the headphones.

A:ASUS Mo Utility Suddenly Doesn't Recognize Fan

the asus probe reports a fan problem when a fan is either running to slow or does not register at all (and therefore is considered stopped)

if the fan uses a 3-pin connector that goes into the motherboard, the yellow wire is ised to detect the fan's speed. you have to make sure that there is, at no point, a loose electrical connection, or one that is blocked by dust.

you can disable the alert in your bios, and probably in the asus probe utility as well.

Hi Seven Forums,

I have a problem with my Asus X52JK laptop.
Upon getting a new laptop and my sibling's laptop (conveniently) breaking down it was decided that I would give the X52 to her.

I backed up all of my personal files to an external HDD so no worries about retrieivng them. When I went to create the Recovery Discs through the utility mentioned in the title that all went smoothly and so I began the recovery process.

Booted from discs first and went through the moitons and when that was done I was expected the W7 installation screen however I was greeted with my old login screen with user account still there.

I repeated the process with the same result then decided to check the Recovery Utility and says partition does not exist yet I used MiniTool Partition Wizard and the partition is in fact there. I have tried to use EasyBCD to get around this but with no luck. I have spent roughly 2 days on this problem.

So is there a remedy for this or will I just have to download a Windows 7 ISO and install that?

I appreciate any help I can get.

Hello all, I am new to OC. I just wanted to see what my system could do. The motherboard has a built in OC utility in BIOS. Is there a utility for windows 7 that will prevent a Flash reader from installing. Recently, just for kicks, when a site DEMANDED that I install Adobe Flash I clicked for it to go ahead and install it. Interestingly, the installation failed. With that curiosity in mind I have tried it repeatedly over a period of weeks since then and, as always, it fails the installation.

No, I can't drop a puzzle like that. It's like an itch I have to scratch. And somewhere along the road it occurred to me that I may have installed a Flash block of some kind and just forgot about it, since it hasn't exactly been on my list of favorite software.

Interestingly, some outfits are getting away from Flash - using HTML5 or MP4 - while some are firing up to make Flash their centerpiece. ABC has apparently converted or is converting all their online TV show videos to Flash. As of the moment I can't find any place to watch the Castle show, a huge loss!!!!!

If not, uncheck the optional crap if you dont want it, download, save to desktop or wherever you desire, close your browser and run the installer and see how you go.

I have got a ThinkCentre M83 SFF Pro Type 10AN-S02E00 that has been working for three years on the original BIOS from the year 2014, probably version FBKT74A or so. This week I moved to Windows 10 and decided to also update BIOS to the latest version, since FBKTB4A "added Win10 support" according to changes.txt, and also there has been important security fixes regarding Intel ME, so I downloaded the latest version FBKTCLA and run the update. The problem is, I know there are two parts in updating the BIOS on these systems (I also got an M93p Tiny), and in my case the first part (afudos.exe imagefb.rom /p /r) runs OK (erasing, updating and verifying main block), but the second part (afudos.exe imagefb.rom /defans /capsule /b /n /r /sp) fails right before erasing giving me15 - Error: Secure Flash function is not supported on this platformand after that no reboot and no second part of the update. After this my system boots OK and BIOS version is reported as FBKTCLA with BIOS date 11/17/2017, butboot block is FB72Aembedded controller is FBCT13ACPU microcode is 306C3_00000017 (08/16/2013)ME version is diagnostic tool is v. 02.09.09Intel VBIOS version 1030So I got the newest BIOS, VBIOS and newest UEFI diagnostic tool but still got old boot block (should be FBCLA), EC (should be FBCT32A), CPU microcode (should be 306C3_00000021 05/10/2016) and ME firmware (should be system works and I have no problems with my Windows 10 install, luckily th... In the aftermath of a severe virus attack a month ago, my computer was left with at least a corrupted User folder. Efforts to fix without great expense may have hurt rather than helped -- it's hard to know what did what.

Up until two days ago, I was dealing with three distinct boot processes, two partials and one normal (usually first boot in the morning). One of the partials featured no connection. The other succeeded in connecting, but failed with document data.

After a normal start, if for any reason the computer went to sleep or was turned off, it did not start normally for the rest of the day, except on rare occasions, seemingly random.

Two days ago, Windows began sending messages that Windows 7 has to be reinstalled. Once it carried out a search and fix process automatically. Thereafter, the message became, you may be the victim of illegitimate (or word like that) Windows software.

On a forum this morning, I came across steps for a do-it-yourself Toshiba Recovery process (without cd or usb) and started it. Everything went along well for about half an hour, moving from one thing to the next, occasionally restarting. But now the process appears to be frozen. For about 40 minutes now, the installation has been on Toshiba Flash Card Utility - 10/80.

I've followed the direction not to interrupt in any way. I don't really believe that it's still on course to complete the recovery successfully.

It's my guess that anything I might do will simply terminate the i... Read more

A:Online Recovery process is frozen at Flash Card Utility installation

There is an error in the background which you can cancel and continue the recovery.

Press ALT + TAB to view the error dialog, close it.

Hello guys.

I saw several of threads saying that, updating your BIOS in the Asus P8Z68-V PRO, would stabilize your system and have better effectivity and such things.

If you direct to this page (Link), and scroll down a little, choose Windows 7 64-bit (as it's my system), and click + on the BIOS utility.

Would it be the best idea? Is there any danger in doing it?

Best Regards,

A:Updating BIOS. With utility?

Stability has a lot to do with how your settings are. No BIOS update can stabilize your system if
it's being pushed to it's limits.

A BIOS update addresses certain issues and you should only update your BIOS,
if it addresses those issues.

With all that being said, having used an ASUS board, I would recommend ASUS Easy Flash 2.
Get a USB thumb drive and follow the ASUS instructions for updating the BIOS using Easy Flash 2, if you "must update".

I am trying to update the BIOS on my GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard. Going to the Gigabyte site, i downloaded the recommended @BIOS update utility. Since the internet does not have the necessary BIOS for my MB, I downloaded the identified BIOS and then tried to use the utility. I then got this error "Can not load ROM image from BIN file. Maybe BIN file size not match."

Not sure what to do now. Can anyone assist?

Here is the page for the @BIOS system.

A:Can't get @BIOS utility to work

First of all, why do you want to update the bios?
Next, your board uses Q-Flash; this is much more reliable than the windows based bios flash. I always recommend using qflash to flash the bios of a gigabyte board [when a bios update is required]

I downloaded the latest BIOS (Version:F.64 Rev.A ) update and ran the utility on windows 10. The machine's power was interrupted during startup . Ever since I have a blank screen with the capslock light flashing and the fan running heavily. The HP recovery partitions have all been wiped since it is a new install of windows. None of this would be a huge ordeal except that the hp recovery utility as described at this website http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833 does not load so I cannot create a USB device. Furthermore after redownloading the BIOS update and attempting to run the .exe directly it says the ROM.CAB is missing or corrupt. 1) Where is there a good version of the BIOS I need? I would be fine with an old version as long as the computer boots. 2) If BIOS is shot does this motherboard allow me to replace the BIOS chip? Thank you for your help in advance.

Hi everyone,

Is there such a utility that will back up current bios so I can restore at a later time if needed?

I don't need to flash the bios just back it up.

Thank you,

A:Bios Backup Utility

Some motherboards have the ability to backup their own bios, others do not... You can usually create a backup of the bios on a floppy using a Bios flash utility
