Q: Lenovo Flex 4 1580 Plugged in Not Charging

I have a Lenovo Flex 4 1580, I have enclosed a screen shot, it is "Plugged in and not charging" ? How do I fix this? I tried restoring to a recover point, a full system wipe and reinstalling windows, but so far nothing has worked. What do I do?

Could anyone please advise a solution: my Lenovo Flex 2-14 (Windows 8) is suddenly showing "plugged in, not charging" message. It is completely impossible to use it if it is not plugged in, as soon as you unplug it just goes dead. I have already tried the uninstall Microsoft AC Adapter way and it didn't help. Has anyone else had this exact issue? Thank you!

Hi, i bought my lenovo flex 3 14inch laptop in microsoft store in january 2016. i have my first problem just in 4 months i.e. my laptop didn't start after shutdown it went to hibernate mode and didn't wakeup. i have sent it to lenovo and got back after 15 days. later i came up with same issue in december 2016 and i didn't use my laptop upto january 2017 and upgraded my warranty to onsite repair for 1 more year because i lost hope on lenovo and i'm pertty much confidant that this laptop will not sustain for a month or 2 after this repair. The motherboard was replaced with a technician who doesn't know how to go to BIOS settings.Now i got a new issue i.e.  "plugged-in not charging problem". I thought it was new problem but later got to know that it is on going problem of all the flex 3 laptops. I tried different steps but no use and finally called lenovo support. The technician tried for long 2 hours installing lenovo settings app from microsoft store but unfortunately it didn't worked out (LOL !!! LENOVO APPLICATION DOESN'T WORK IN LENOVO LAPTOP). I have contacted tenovo support on 23rd of this month and as per their email it shoud be repaired in 3 days after receiving the parts. I got new battery delivered on 25th of this month but i didn't see any technician addressed me till date to replace that part or fix my issue. "Dear lenovo support please provide on-time service to your laptops" NOTE :   lenovo support people don't give suggestions like remove... I have a Lenovo Flex 3 1480 with Intel I7.  I was getting a message that says "plugged in charging" but the battery charge was staying at 60% and not increasing. Lenovo techs said the battery must be bad so I ordered and installed a new, Lenovo brand battery.  I get the same condition... placing the cursor over the battery symbol gives a status message of "40% available, plugged in, charging" but the battery charge never increases, even after shutting off the computer down and leaving it plugged in overnight. The laptop was a year old and therefore out of warranty last November, 2016. HELP!

Edge 2-1580 LaptopMachine Type Model 80QF0004USwindows 10I have the latest version of BIOS, etc.I downloaded the latest  software versions of everything. The battery is internal, I am unable to get at it without unscrewing the casing.Error is that the battery is not charging, windows message says it is charging.Lenovo Vantage says battery is in good condition. (see screenshot attached)and yes, the battery was good for hours. laptop is still rather new-ishOne day, battery was not auto charging. I did the trick of pressing the power button when plugged and unplugged.It did work two times, but now is not anymore.works otherwise, as long as it is plugged in. It actually takes a few minutes when plugged in before I can turn it on.

I just purchased a Flex 3-1580 3 days ago. Last night, I used it and it was just fine. This morning it was plugged in and the light was on next to the power button, but it would not start. I tried moving it to a different outlet, and the light went off when I unplugged it. Now, when it's plugged in, the light doesn't even go on, machine won't start. Holding the power button for 60 seconds shows no response either.HELP!!I have homework to do over the short holiday break!

A:Flex 3-1580 will not start, no light when plugged ...

Same thing happened to me. After two weeks, my laptop just went black while watching a video. From then on, it won't start. Tried everything, I even thougth it was a problem with the screen, but I tried to plug a HDMI to it and still nothing.
What am I supposed to do? And on top of it, right now I'm outside the US (in Panam) and no one here seems to respond as Lenovo Representant ... Please help!

Hey like many others I'm having some issues with my FLEX 3-1580. Issue: The battery originally would not charge above 15%, now it will not charge above 14%. The battery light near the power button is on, and the charger works (tested with DMM). Sometimes I get a constant on and off between the computer detecting the power cord. This makes the screen flash back and forth in brightness going from plugged in to unplugged (This is remedied by disabling Microsoft AC Adapter in Device Manager, meaning it then stays "plugged in", still doesn't charge). If the battery is not plugged into the laptop it will start on AC Adapter after many attempts of 2 second boot/stop/boot/stop. Attempts: I have checked the voltages from the power cable internally to where it plugs into the board. The top two connectors get the 21V. The CMOS battery is at 3V. I reapplied thermal paste. I reset all connections. Looked for component burn marks but couldn't see any. I know other laptops have had issues with the MOSFETS but I could not find any MOSFET on the motherboard. Ran registry fixer with CCleaner. Updated all the drivers. Flashed newest BIOS In the end I don't know if its a software problem and something seriously got messed up by a virus in my registry or somthing.. Or if there is something on the motherboard that is bad.

Problem: Around December 2016 and Jan 2017 (and some before that) many users are reporting that their Flex 3 laptops have stopped charging. No, it's not the "plugged in, not charging" issue which can be solved by turning off battery consevation mode in power management software. The battery icon says "plugged in, charging" or sometimes switches beetween plugged in and not plugged in status. When the power adapter is connected, it says "plugged in, charging" and the battery percentage doesn't go up and stays at the same level. Hi everyone! I have a Flex 2-14. I had upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10. After that my battery is no more charging. Message is "plugged in, not charging".  I had tried:- Lenovo Energy Management --> change the setting from Optimized Battery Health , to Maximum Battery Life  - Lenovo OneKey Optimiser --> change the setting from Conservation Mode to Normal Mode- reverted to Windows 8.1 OneKey Optimiser reports: Battery status is good; Battery capacity is good; Adapter status is good.Battery does not charge even when notebook is stopped but plugged to mains. Now battery is at 0%. Maybe related to this: i can't upgrade BIOS. Now the bios is A0CN21WW.Downloaded A0CN37WW. Extracted files. Removed /cpb 30 from winflash64.bat (in order to remove battery check). Run Install.exe from c:\BIOS\A0CN37WW. Notebook shutdown, remains 2-3 minutes with black screen, and then reboots but the bios remains the same A0CN21WW. Could be a faulty BIOS? How can i force update it? Thanks for any suggestion.

I have the flex 2 and the only time my laptop charges is when it is completely turned off. The battery life is also very short, even when I am using my laptop it says "plugged in, charging" but the battery life continues to go down, it only lasts about an hour or two WHILE BEING PLUGGED IN. And it takes a couple hours to fully charge when i have it turned off, i usually plug it in at night and in the morning it will be a full charge. I have only had this laptop about 4 months, it is not old, and I have not been over using it. Everything else functions perfectly fine on it and i love it, but this is a huge problem when i am trying to get school work done. this has been going on a few weeks now. Why is this happening is there something i can do to fix it?

The lenovo power settings give feedback that the battery is in good condition and that the adapter is recognized. Hello,  I have a two year old Ideapad Flex 14 which is having some battery issues. Specifically, the battery light is flashing red, and when I plug in my laptop, the status says ?plugged in, not charging.? When plugged in, it stays at roughly the same battery level, though it has been gradually losing battery despite being plugged in over the last few days (this has been going on for five days or so now).  It is at 5% battery now, and I?m not sure what to do to make it charge. I?ve tried taking out the battery and putting it back multiple times, but am not really sure what else to try ? I?m out of the country until December, so I haven?t been able to find a repair place to get it fixed yet...  Any suggestions how to fix this?? Annie

About three days ago my Flex 3 1480 stopped charging its battery. This message appears above the taskbar battery icon:  ?0% available - plugged in, charging."  The computer now only comes on with the ac power adapter plugged in. I have used another adapter (identical specs) with the same negative result on my computer.  My adapter works fine on the other computer. These are fixes recommended at various internet sites that I have tried without success: System restore to a point several days before problem appeared.Uninstalled both battery drivers in Device Manager and restart reinstalled - three times. The battery is internal so I would like to fix without having to remove the battery if possible. Resetting the battery and resetting the bios are on-line recommendations that I don?t really know how to do safely. In searching the Lenovo site, I have been unable to find this problem addressed. The Lenovo Vantage Hardware Scan shows all in good order ? the battery itself is rated Good. The Flex 3 is 2 years old and is now out of warranty. Any help to correct and get the battery charging would be appreciated. Thank you, GB

I've had my Lenovo Flex 2-15 for about two years and it has always charged perfectly fine. Today it started telling me that the computer is "plugged in, not charging". It was working normally as of this morning (took it to class and then recharged it afterward), but as of this evening it's not charging.
 
I have tried multiple solutions:
 

Restarting
Uninstalling and reinstalling / updating battery drivers
Checking power management options (no problems there)

I am not able to remove the battery as the Flex doesn't allow me to do so. It's currently at 94%, and I'm afraid to run it all the way down because it looks like it won't charge back up again.
 
If anyone has any advice, it would be very welcome. Thanks!

My screen has been plagued by yellowing in the corners but the digitizer is perfectly fine. I was wondering if anyone has any answers on whether or not you can just replace the lcd on laptop without replacing the whole screen/digitizer. the whole screen is 150 dollars and a lcd is just around 50-100. As close as I can understand it, it "may" if I mess something up? I've opened at least 100 laptops without messing anything up, so I'm confident I can do it without damaging anything, but I have also seen motherboards and touchscreens die in the first year, and don't want to mess up that part of the warranty for an SSD upgrade. I figured I'd make sure it powered on, then shutdown, crack it open, install the M.2 SSD, clone everything over, wipe the old SSD once into windows, and then finally perform the product registration. (Which uploads all your hardware specs? So they'd know everything was A-Okay with the new drive in place?) Thoughts? Anyone got more info on how strict they are with self service?

Hi all, I recently upgraded my Ideapad Flex 4 with a new SSD, and shortly after began noticing random shutdowns, black screens, and failure to POST (it looked as though the BIOS had failed to initialize entirely, as the screen/keyboard backlights did not turn on). These symptoms often happened after the laptop incurred some form of shock, IE: picking the laptop up, setting it down, opening/closing the screen, or even simply tapping lightly on the keyboard or chasis. However, if the laptop were left completely undisturbed, these symptoms would not occur often. I tried literally everything I could imagine short of buying a new motherboard. I reseated (and then replaced) the RAM, I removed the batteries and let it sit overnight, I even tried flashing a new BIOS rom. After all that, I switched the SSD with the original HDD, and it works fine now (actually a little better, because the embedded controller had needed resetting for a while, but I hadn't gotten around to it until then). I wasn't aware that a simple SATA SSD could cause a laptop to fail to POST. As this happened several times over a couple of days, is there any chance of long-term damage to the MOBO/BIOS i should watch out for?

My old W8.1 Flex 15 has it in the apps, and I use it to blow out internal dust, and to also reset the battery condition gauge.  I see this Lenovo Utility listed in the add/remove programs area of the control panel of my Flex-3 1580, but can't find it elsewhere to get it to run.  How can I get this Lenovo Utility to open, and use its features.  Thank you.

I recently purchased a new Pioneer DDJ SB2 DJ controller. Upon downloading the neccessary software and firmware from Serato DJ and Pioneer, I connected my controller to my computer via usb cord provided by Pioneer. However, when I opened Serato to start playing around, a error message came up saying that my hardware was disconnected. I looked up support from Serato as I thought it was a software issue. I quickly realized it wasn't after going through all the troubleshooting steps they provided. I then asked my friend to try out the program on his computer (MacBook), to see if it was a software issue or a computer problem. As expected it instantly worked on his laptop without any issues. I determined it was a problem with my computer. I took it to Geek Squad so they could have a look. Unable to fix it, they believe its a Windows 10 issue. So now I am coming to Lenovo to see if they can fix this problem. I find it ridiculous that out of nowhere my computer can no longer detect a usb plug in from my iPhone, external harddrive, and DJ controller.  Has anybody else had these issues?Specs: Windows 10Version 1607Intel Core i78.00GB RAM64-bit operating system

Hi,As soon as I switch my laptop, I can see the desktop top image with pink and fuzzy look. It stared with yellow dull screen at he beginning before the pink color shown up. The screen will be in dull yellow while I open chrome or any white background appllication. The pink clor comes up if I open a video or any other apps without white background. This also come in safe mode. I have done the graphic driver update and see the same problem. Dont know what is the actual reason. Please help me..!!

Please help! I've been using sleep mode for pretty much the entire time that I have had this laptop (one month plus).  This is the first time I sent it into sleep mode for the evening and awoke the next day to find that the laptop refuses to wake up.  The keyboard will light up merrily along with the power button, but the screen will not turn on.  The fans are also running full tilt.  I can hear them running loud and clear, which is abnormal as during normal operations I cannot hear this machine running at all.  After having a jet engine for a previous laptop, this was one of my favorite features of the Flex 3. I have tried doing a ton of different things to get the laptop to wake up again including power resets and using the Novo button.  Nothing has worked.  If I could get at the battery and motherboard battery without voiding my warranty, I would.  My only solution is to try to run the battery down by leaving it on with the keyboard lights as bright as they will go and let the fan run like a jet engine.  Hopefully this will drain the battery in faster than the 4 days that everyone else was reporting.  Anyways, I don't know how everyone's Flex 3's lasted that long on battery anyways.  Mine kept turning itself on. The point of this post is to ask what I can do so that this issue never crops up again.   I love this machine, but if this becomes a recurring problem, I'm going to have to can it and g... Have you tried updating the BIOS for your model yet? I have the same one and had problems with it never waking up from sleep. Haven't had a problem with it since the update though.

I have had my lenovo flex 4 1580 for less than a year, and while I love it there seem to be problems. And I am a law student so this is causing me a lot of anxiety. In the last few weeks the computer has started to freeze, and requires me to physically press the power button to restart it. I have tried a system recovery before the installation of windows 10 creative, I have tried unistalling/reinstalling java, I continue to check my system for updates. I have disabled the background apps. I am not running alot just mozillafoxfire, microsoft word, spotity (maybe), google chrome, and that is about it. And yet the CPU and or memory will  just shoot through the roof and it will freeze. It feels like there is some big program running in the backgroud but I have checked the task master and I do not know what it is..... Now it says that the computer is plugged in and it is not charging...I have checked the conservation mode is off, I tried the settings airplane mode is off,  I do not see any other other problems...am I missing something. I am hoping that these problems can be fixed, quickly,

Right now I have a problem with the w key on my laptop key board.  For all the other keys it registers a press when you feel the key give way.  However for my w key you do not have to press it, only rest you finger lightly on it and it will register a keystroke.  This is a problem for me because I rest my finger on W S and E all at the same time which leads to a lot of random w's throughout my typing.  Let me know if there is anything I can do other than replace my keyboard.

I recently purchased this laptop and did not spend any time playing on the keyboard prior to the purchase.  I am now regretting this purchase as I cannot understand nor adapt to the right shift key not being in the standard location. Why would Lenovo design a keyboard that would not be conducive to touch typing? I cannot seem to change my 45 years of touch typing experience to accomadate this major change.  It makes no sense.  Is anyone else having this issue and what if anything can be done about it?

Hello all,

I have a problem installing windows 7 on my new windows 10 laptop. I find it very weird how I change settings in the BIOS to support all legacy stuff like windows 7 and I try to boot from USB all the way to dvd and nothing works. What I mean is when it is done booting, it says " No drivers were found" and there's not a hard drive for me to choose windows 7. It's weird though because there are windows 7 drivers on the official support page, yet I can't install it?

I just need to see a hard drive listed but nothing pops up, and yes I've formatted it already using diskpart.

They are for the Flex 4-1580 and they are Lenovo Firmware 2.22.0, which released on 2/23/2017,  which failed to install, and Lenovo Firmware 2.23.0, which released on 3/24/2017, which failed to install as well. I was wondering if anyone has faced the same issues, and if so, how you may have gone about to resolve it.

Hi all, Last night, I managed to power on an old Flex 3 15" that I had lent to a friend. When it started booting, it prompted me to press a key to skip disk checking. Being curious as to whether the laptop has a HDD issue or not, I let it run. It now has been over 24 hours, and without a progress-bar, I'm not sure if it is stuck or is actually working. I'm not sure as to how much data is on the drive since he returned it to me without giving me his password. Any suggestions as to what to do?

Hello everyone. I must say that it is a lovely laptop but the touch screen issue is making me very upset. I called  Lenovo and Microsoft support and those people doesn't even have a bit of knowledge. Many incertain process and lot of doubts in them. But it can't be a hardware problem. I bought it 1 week ago and when I opened the factory sealed box the touch screen worked perfectly! And a few hours later would stop working. No pen and touch input available, no hid compliant touch screen in device manager. I read almost every thread about this complain in this forum. Tried everything without success. The laptop is 99% good.. But without the touch screen is like trash. Hope someone can understand and if there's a solution, please tell me and I beg you send me specifics links or specifics procedures, please don't tell me "go to support.lenovo.com"  or "do a system recovery or windows 10 update", etc. Thank you.

I accidentally deleted my nvidia graphics drivers, and the latest version doesnt work. Knowing the drivers which came with the computer will let me re install them. Thanks.

Help Lenovo Flex 3  1580 80R4 screen is constantly going black when the computer is still on forcing me to reboot all day long while trying to work.  Hard boot, resetting battery usage and screen dispay setting have not worked. It has done this since the day I got it nothing I have tried stops this HELP!!! Is there a download or something as a fix??

A colleague gave me his Lenovo Edge 2-1580 laptop to look at due to a charging problem he just encountered.  He said it started acting up about 3 weeks ago.  With the adapter plugged in, it quit charging (even though it registers as "plugged in, and charging").  He bought a new charging adapter, which did not fix the problem.  Then he bought a new battery, with the same results.  Then he gave it to me, and I am completely stumped. Both batteries are completely dead, with no way of charging them at all.  The laptop will run, as long as the charging adapter is plugged in.  I have tried every trick I could locate online, to no avail.  I might add, the laptop is not under warrenty, that ended on 2-20-17.  As a last resort, I did a OneKey Recovery, and took it back to factory settings, just in case some download may have affected it.  Still the same problem.  I am starting to think it is a motherboard issue, but as I said, it is out of warrenty.  Anyone have any ideas??  I have seen it change occationally from "plugged in, charging" (which is usually what it says, and isn't addressed that much online at all) to "plugged in, not charging" (which is talked about quite a bit).  But as stated before, all the tricks mentioned under those site, I have tried and nothing works. Would greatly appreciate ANY advise you could offer.  Right now it is a good paper weight that has to be plugged in all the ...
