Solved: How Do I Save the Pictures in My Pictures Folder to CD?

Q: Solved: How Do I Save the Pictures in My Pictures Folder to CD?

I need to know how to save the pictures in the My Pictures folder to CD. I am going to format and reinstall XP Home and if I do, I will lose these pictures unless I save them. Thanks in advance.

Preferred Solution: Solved: How Do I Save the Pictures in My Pictures Folder to CD?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Solved: How Do I Save the Pictures in My Pictures Folder to CD?

XP has built in cd-burnig capabilities. You should just be able to put a blank disk in and drag and drop your files over.

I formatted my drive after I saved my favorites and my pictures to CD. Formatting cleared up the problem of two dial up connections. I tried everything on that. The duplicate connection is no more. Finally! Anyway, back to why I am posting again. I want to put the pictures that I saved from the My Pictures folder back to the My Pictures folder. I have set one of them as the new desktop background. (It was before the format). I have looked in Help and Support, but I can't seem to find anything. I have typed in "Export Pictures from CD to My Pictures folder" without the quotes and I get a list of links pertaining to CD recording errors and other things like that. I did right click on a picture in Drive E (my CD-RW) just to see what would come up and I noticed that on the Send To menu that these pictures can be sent to the desktop. Is this what I should do then? Send them to the desktop and open them and send them from here to the My Pictures folder? It can't be that easy, can it? Let me hear from anybody.

A:Solved: How Do I Put Saved Pictures Back in My Pictures Folder?

Highlight all your pictures on the cd, right click and click on copy, then open you picture folder on your computer and right click and click on paste.

Here's a strange one.....

All the pictures and folders from the 'My Pictures' folder are missing. I checked my recycle bin but they are not there. There is one folder in there of some stock photos (about 1 GB), but everything else is gone.

At the moment I am running Recuva, but it is taking some time. Any ideas on what may have happened?

I'm stumped.....it has to be something simple and obviously something I did!

Thank you for the help!

Hi Guys,I have a problem that I have not encountered before. For some unaccountable reason, I cannot open any picture in the 'My Pictures' folder.Whenever I attempt to open a picture I get an error message that says: File C:/Documents and Settings/User/My Documents/My Pictures/ could not be opened.Initially, I thought that it might have been a virus, but scans by AVG have turned up nothing.I have no idea how to solve this problem. Please help. With Thanks.Compton

A:Pictures In The 'my Pictures' Folder Cannot Be Opened

Hello Compton,This could be down to a number of reasons. Are you logged on the system with an account that has administrative access? The event viewer may give some more information.1. Click Start select run2. Type eventvwr.exe3. Press enter4. Search through the groups for errors and warnings.5. Double click on each error and or warning.6. All the pictures in my Pictures folder have disappeared, leaving behind a bunch of empty folders. I did not delete them, and I have no viruses according to AVG. It appears that this happened to a few others on this forum, but no solutions were presented.

If it helps - I noticed that the Read Only button was checked on the main folder, so I unchecked it, and I watched the status window un-apply "read only" protection from all my actual pictures files, so it seems to me that they're still there but invisible.

I performed a system restore, and Recova is in the process of performing a "Deep Scan" for my pictures (the quicker scan did not find the files). Has anyone solved the problem of the disappearing pictures? Is this a Vista problem, or perhaps a problem with an update? Any help would be appreciated!

A:Pictures disappeared from Pictures folder!

Read only shouldn't have anything to do with it. Have you checked the Recycle Bin and AVG's quarantine? Is the Hidden attribute cleared? Have you installed any new programs or updates?

Problem is when I right click on a picture to save it to MY pictures, and
save as BMP it will save it as JPEG. I am at a loss as how to correct this.

I have checked all the settings in the browser and my pictures folder and nothing has changed, that I know of. It did work very well until about 2 weeks ago then just stopped. I have no way of changing a JPEG picture to BMP. Any help on this please.. Thank You. (by the way, the walmart browser works very well on another computer using WinME)

ok, so, i have searched through previous threads on this, but none of them seem to have my exact problem.
i cannot save any new pictures, or even a text file to my computer. not just jpeg, all of them. i just recently had a virus, and you guys fixed it (thank you tremendously!) so im wondering if the virus has anything to do with it.

the pictures im trying to save are my own pictures, from either my digi cam, or my phone, and before i had this virus i was able to right click and hit "save as", and save it where i wanted to and had no problems. now, what happens is, i right click, hit "save as", and find the spot i want to save it, hit save, and its done. so i go to look for the picture where i saved it, and it not there. basically it tells me its saved, but does not save.
i tried prt scr. too, but for some really odd reason i do not have "paint" on my computer anymore.
any kind of suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

There are pictures I would like to save/edit from a website which uses Macromedia Flash Player 7 to display them in a photo gallery. If I try to save a picture by printing to file, I can get it to appear as a HTML in MY PICTURES, but I can't figure out how to do anything else with it. Is there a way to do this in Windows XP?

A:Solved: How to save/edit html pictures?

Pictures are images - images have extensions like: .GIF .JPG .BMP
HTML is code. It is ordinary text that you can read.
Therefore something isn't correct with your statements.

Try taking screen shots of the pictures and put them into Paint or another image program to either edit or save from there.

Was having problems with virtual memory and computer coming to a complete stop due to downloading a Norton upgrade. My computer tech suggested backing up everything on my computer and reloading Windows XP Home Edition. He backed up what he thought was everything on my computer that was under my user name and reloaded my computer but my pictures in my Kodak pictures file were not under my user name; therefore, all of my pictures are gone. The tech has now transferred everything on my computer over to his computer and is now trying to find the pictures. Anyone have any suggestions on how to retrieve the pictures? Has anyone ever had to send the computer to a lab to get info retrieved and how much does it cost? Thanks for your help!

This could be one for the books,

Last night when I went to look at the Pictures folder in My Documents there was a folder of pictures and six other pictures in my folder that no one, not me, nor anyone else downloaded to the computer. All of them are JPG files and we have friends who have e-mailed pictures to us.

However, in my fifteen years of computer experience I know that I would personally have to download those photos to mu computer in order for them to be viewed. A family member has posted unrelated pictures on E-bay. We are trying to think and there were no e-mails opened, no photos looked at, nothing between the time that this happened, (Last Night.) Because a family friend who is into photography sent nature pictures through E-Mail, I just assumed it was from him and said, "Oh, I put those pictures that you downloaded last night in a folder, and the other computer user in my family said, "What pictures?"

I don't use Photo Sharing of any kind, My Avast Anti-Virus log shows now threats. All of the pictures are OLD. BUT here is the interesting thing, of the photo specs of them so far that I can see, they were taken by a person who has the SAME type of camera that we use on this computer. BUT we just got the camera last year and no one else has used it. The dates on those pictures go back from 2000-2003.

There is no evidence of anyone using any photo sharing application software. The computer runs as well as as ever. Any ideas?

A:Mysterious Pictures Showed Up in My "My Pictures" Folder

Do a search by date for the dates a day before and a day after the picture date. Maybe those ppictures were attached to some album or video show viewed recently and automaticly posted to MY PICTURED folder. I have a problem with "my Pictures" folder (Windows XP HOME) .... (IT HAS MOVED) It is missing from "My Documents" folder, it now resides in "Shared Documents" folder. When I open it from "start" menu, it opens in
the "Shared Documents" folder. Recently "My Pictures" folder was (dragged) to the "shared Documents" folder to transfer photos to another computer, now "My Pictures" folder can't be moved back. I get a warning stating that it can't be moved or re-named. I found a web site that had an article on "How to restore My Pictures folder" so I re- installed the new folder in "My Documents" I then had to transfer all photos to the new folder. Path from Start menu to "My Pictures" is "C\Documents and Settings\All users\Documents" and the path shown from new "My Pictures" in "My Documents" is (C\documents and settings\owner\my documents). Is there a way to straighten this problem back to normal? Appreciate some help, bobo123

I'm hoping someone out there can save me.

I went to open my main Pictures folder and nothing happened. I right clicked the link and the Properties tab was blank. I used the Shell: My Pictures command to restore the folder but the contents are gone.

I've no idea how the contents can have disappeared.

The 'data usage' in My Computer shows that these folders are no longer on C: or D: (my harddrive is partitioned).

Any suggestions as to how I can try to restore the pictures?

I did briefly run DataRecovery software, and it looked like it could locate all the files, but I have about 10,000 photos and I would like to be able to restore them in the folders they were in originally if possible, rather than one huge list of files.

I do lots of deleting of unwanted pics within the folders so presumably if I restored everything I would end up will all the ones I had selectively deleted in the past too. (better than nothing, I know).

Any tips or suggestions about what I should do would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks everyone

This has happened before. In fact, it's always happening. Some folders will properly update their folder picture accordingly, while others refuse to do so.

Anyways, I have a bunch of different folders where I store my music. Be it Games, Movies or whatever it may be. I've recently changed the tag and image on the entirety of mp3 files on several folders. Some folders managed to update the preview picture, while others didn't. The old images from the old mp3 files are still on display, no matter what I do. I even tried deleting everything inside one of the folders, but it's still displaying the images associated with the mp3 files that are no longer there. Go figure.

I'm clueless as to what's causing this as well as to how to fix it. Could someone help?

I have a problem with one of my vista accounts' picture folder. When saving to "my pictures", I went back to my "user" folder to find the pictures folder... but the picture I saved was actually saved to what appears to be a 'false' recycle bin; Only, this 'recycle bin' does not behave like the actual recycle bin, since I can browse and even open photos from within it, and it also does not have the "restore" option... When I try to change the name of the "recycle bin" folder to "pictures" (from the properties window) it says that there is already a folder with the name 'pictures', but then refers to the same 'recycle bin' with my photos. How could this have happened? How do we get the folder to return to the normal "pictures" appearance? It's as if part of the software thinks that it's the pictures folder, and part thinks it's (somehow??) the recycle bin (based on its appearance). Thank you.

A:Pictures folder appears to be "recycle bin" but still behaves like "pictures" folder.

Hello Jsprong, and welcome to Vista Forums.

This should be able to help restore this folder for you.
Backup anything that you do not want to lose in these two folders to another location.Use OPTION THREE in this tutorial to make sure that the "Pictures" folder is set to it's default location of "C:\Users\(user-name)\Pictures".Delete both folders.Restart the computer to apply. It may take a couple of restarts before the Pictures folder is back in it's default location. If for some reason the icon is not correct for it, then you can use this tutorial to fix it.Hope this helps,

I am using an old Dell with XP and Internet Explorer 7. When previewing some images I have stored in My Pictures, I find when using the 'previous' and 'next' buttons I am able to pull up the next or previous pictures as I should. But when I e-mail an image to myself and then use the 'next' or 'previous' buttons, I begin to get images from web sites I have recently visited even if it is just my home page. While scanning my home page, for instance, I collect dozens of images in a matter of minutes. The 'properties' of these images show when they were created and this began on 11/27/08. The only change I have made recently is a download of info from a digital camera disc to enable me to store pictures from my new camera. I did a system restore to a couple of days before that download but I'm still copying dots, dashes, logos and pictures or frames from videos. Is this something anyone has encountered or heard of? I'm wearing out my delete button. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hey all just bought a nice web cam, Rosewill RCM-8164, that works great capturing video. When ever I try to capture a picture though it won't save, or if it does I don't know where to look.

What I've tried so far is the actual software which has 3 different ways to take the pic. It still frames my picture but doesn't give me options to save or anything. Is there any other way of doing it so that i could save the picture and modify it using paint shop and microsoft picture manager. Kindly do help me. I tried doing the following but does not work or maybe i am doin it wrong
well the easiest, and most straight-forward way, is to drag (yes click, hold and drag) the pic onto another [empty] tab (if you're using a browser that supports tabbing), from that tab u can save the picture as u like!

if that doesn't work, u can save the page and an html file, this will create a folder with the same name a the file, this folder with include all the pages content including all the pictures u couldn't save!

If they don't give you that option it's because they don't want you to take those pictures, anyway you could use the print screen function and paste it in paint.

I am not able to do it. Pls explain

Thanku very much and any help will be appreciated.

hey guys..my first time here..clearly looks like an indespensible site.

well, my question is, lately when trying to<save picture as..
explorer hangs indefinately..or displays explorer ( or what ever program i may be working with at the time)...is not responding.
making it impossible to save any images.
the CPU usage shoots through the roof,to 100%..
and i usually have to close any open programs.
this also happens when trying to copy or paste, move to folder..etc.
i have done extensive virus scans, ad-ware, spybot...etc.
and all scans show up spotless clean.
i did however run into a number of viruses the other day,
when, browsing shall we say "questionable material"
most were like html redirect and stuff.. but a few denied access to my
running anti-virus. which remarked " unable to repair"
i immediately ran the virus scans et. al.
and even started in safe mode when i couldn't find anything.
i was sure to delete any temporary internet files and cookies..etc
just in case.

usually, had this been a problem with any other third party software
i am able to troubleshoot them, but being, what looks like a problem with windows itself, i dunno what to do.

..and i thought you guys would probablly know what to do.

I am not sure what kind of CD's to use and I do not want to lose any of the pictures while transfering them. And also if I transfer them to CD's will I be able to print them out after they are on the CD's? Thanks Emily

For about a week now I've been trying to diagnose why I cannot save anything with Mozilla Firefox. I right click, save picture as, and the save box comes up. I can click save like usually and everything looks fine. But when I go to where I am trying to save files, there isn't anything there. I've tried saving to my desktop, to different drives, different folders, don't know what's going on. Funny thing is I've since re-installed Windows and downloaded newer version of Firefox and it is still doing it. I can save fine with IE 7.

Any ideas?

A:Can't save pictures, files... with Firefox

No problem, you can still save pictures like we used to.

This CAN be done by right clicking on that image, then selecting Copy Image, then, go to the RUN in your start menu (or press the logo key + R), type mspaint, then paste (ctrl+V) inside it..

Voila !

Hi All

I am trying to copy some pictures from a website, though I can right click on the picture and click save picture as, but when I try to save the image it only gives me option to save as GIF file or as BMP file, and even if I try to save them in gif or bmp format, all I am getting in the saved location is a small dot (.) and the size of the file is also 890 bytes, which is too small for the pictures I am trying to save which should be around at least 2 MB

Any help would be appreciated. I am not causing any loss to any website or website owner as the pictures I am trying to save are normal and regular pictures

I have tried Firefox, IE 6 / IE 7 and Netscape but all give me the same results from that website

Hello Manucidoo,

There are a few other ways you can go about saving the pictures. (I'm going by your statement that these pictures are freely avaliable to anyone who want to use them and are not copyright in any way that would affect this avaliability)

The easiest way is copy the picture and paste it into an image editor (eg. Paint) and save it they way. If the image does not paste into the editor, it is likey there is some sort of prevention (maybe a transparent image over the actual picture to stop people trying to save it )

If that is the case, then you could always do a Printscreen. This almost always works.

Unless it doesn't however, or maybe if the picture you're trying to save is larger then your screen (which would mean you would have to do multiple screen shots), then there are 2 more options that I can think of that doesn't involve you installing anything. The first is to look through your temporary internet files, which might have the pic's stored. If not, then try saving the webpage, which inturn might save the pic you're trying to get.

Hope this helps. If it doesn't, please post back.

Hi I found some photos I wanted to save on the internet. Normally I right-click and select 'Save Picture A'. I did this and it had Jpeg as file type. However when I went to load the picture from my harddrive, it is not listed as a jpeg - just as type 'file'. I can load it in paint, but Photoshops won't load it, and my photo uploader program won't recognise it at all - because it is not listed as a image file.

How can I change the file type to jpeg?

Thank you very much

You would probably do better with a good freeware viewer like Irfanview. You can determine the JPG quality and what metadata information you want to include with the image. You can also do it all in bulk rather than one shot at a time. www.irfanview.com
