USB-C Laptop Power Bank 14000 mAh 40AL140CWW - worked once?

Q: USB-C Laptop Power Bank 14000 mAh 40AL140CWW - worked once?

Hi all, got this power bank (40AL140CWW) for my P1. It is listed as acceptable for the system on the Option Compatibility Matrix (January, 2019). Got it a while back, tested it, worked fine: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/9uyew4/fieldtesting_the_lenovo_usbc_14000mah_power_bank/ Using it today (charged yesterday) ... all four lights on the bank come on when I plug it into my P1, but, the system is behaving differently ... previously, the bank powered the unit and its LEDs went off one by one as the charge decreased; the main battery indicator on the bottom did not move off 95%. This time, the main battery indicator shows a decreasing level of charge, and so far, the bank still has four LEDs illuminated. Even weirder, the "remaining time" at one point seemed to indicate the battery was present (showing 8+ hours remaining) but now, even that has changed, and the system is acting like there is no power bank installed at all (shows 3 hours and 33 min [77%] remaining.) I am using the USB-C power cord that came with the bank. Is it defective? TIA, -kj-

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

This problem is from a friend of mine but he doesn't has a computer now. Yesterday he was charging his powerbank through his Laptop (Asus bought 3 months ago) USB port. After a while the computer was shutdown and won't turn on, even when it's plugged through its power adapter.

Is there any solution to this?
Thanks!

A:Laptop wont turn on after charging power bank

Hi and welcome to TSG.

As annoying as it can be to have to do it, your best option if it appears totally dead is to RMA the laptop if it is only 3 months old. Fiddling about with it too much trying to diagnose the problem could end up invalidating any warranty your friend has.

The only simple checks I would do are to try and power it up with and without the power cord connected.
Then remove the battery (assuming it is a removable one) and try it again with the power adapter attached.

It could be a problem with the laptop or that the power brick has just failed, it happens occasionally.

You can find a huge collection by searching ?power banks for laptops? on a search engine. You just need to compare things like capacity, weight, and price.  The power bank should have a USB standard charging port and a DC output port as well. I have bougth a power bank in Pakistan for my laptop last year from Doortodoor.pk an online shopping store, ask their support team to guide you which is better for your laptop

Just got a Yoga 700-11ISK. It's great. Love it. Want to know how I can charge it from a power bank. The battery life is good-not-great. I know it needs 20v. I am getting some info from the Lenovo team on the USB Type C port if it supports audio, video or whatever application however seems to be that the Type C is just another USB port for portable devices such as external HDD.There have been discussions about charging the laptop via Type C however I don't think you can as its only suppose to charge via the AC port. A:Yoga 3 Pro / UNIFUN power bank

Good day and welcome to the community.

The Yoga 3 Pro looks for 20V input, 4x what that power bank can output. Also, the proprietary cable has extra contacts.

There may be power banks that can supply the proper voltage, but I think it unlikely that one has the proprietary receptacle configuration to match the cable.

Hello Everyone, I am considering the purchase of a specific power bank for my L540 laptop. The product is the Vinsic 30000mah. I can't seem to get clarification on whether my Lenovo laptop will successfully hook up with the PB and take the charge. As far as I can tell, the PB has a lot of muscle and is well-recommended. The PB comes with 8 adaptors; for Lenovo products it lists a  7.9*10 mm adaptor. It says it has 3 output ports: 1 DC output up to 19V 3.5A, with a max output current of 4.5A; and 2 Smart USB outputs, with output up to 5V 2.4A.  It also says it has 2 Input ports: 1 DC input and 1 Micro USB input. I am uncertain if the specs on my L540 make it compatible with the features listed shown above. Can someone with expertise advise me if I'm Ok to go ahead with the purchase based on the features? Many thanks!

Turned on the laptop today and there seems to be a major problem.

Though not completely dead, it doesn't sound like it's booting up properly and the screen is blank.

I'd opened up recently to inspect the DDR memory cards with a view to an upgrade (there are two filled slots). They seem to be seated okay but could this be the cause? Even if I'd damaged one while getting it out wouldn't the other boot up the computer okay?
Is this the cause of my problems?

Thanks for any help.

Hi all
I removed a 500 GB HDD from Old SLOW Lenovo laptop with AMD slow processor with all my apps installed and replaced it into a Sony VAIO new laptop with I5 core . The Sony came pre-installed with W7 Home premium and an HDD of only 320 GB but had 8GB RAM.

Guess what -- Computer booted up perfectly --did a few updates and was good to go with W8 dev edition x-64 from the old laptop. Windows connected to the Internet and did some hardware updates such as Intel Graphics instead ofd the AMD ones and it runs absolutely fine - with all my apps like office, photoshop etc etc.

Not the recommended way of installing an OS but it worked and save HOURS of time -- for 10 mins to swap the HDD's on the laptops.

Cheers

A:Swapped HDD from Old laptop to new one -- W8 worked perfectly !!!!!

I'm not surprised, i don't know how to explain or proved it but i believe WDP is nothing more than a "template" OS, a VM if you like. Test will be with the RTM.

I get the odd screen freeze on this laptop. It seems to drink up RAM like gin. On any computer I've ever owned, I knew I could rely on CTRL+ALT+DEL to unstick me.  Never have been able to get this to work on this laptop! I've tried all of them - the CTRL+ ALT from left side of keyboard + DEL above right of keyboard beside of PRT SC; CTRL + ALT on right side of space bar + the same DEL as previously mentioned; and I have used those two CTRL + ALT combos with the DEL on the number pad. None of these combinations work.   Is there a setting I seemed to have never known about that can get this to happen? Or is this just a problem these HP's have?  Any enlightenment would be appreciated as I don't like force quitting. Many thanks in advance.

The hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not a retail laptop SATA hard drive can be used. Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use Recovery Discs. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity. For instance if you have a 500GB hdd you could use a 750GB hdd but not a 320GB hdd.

Hi guys,

I need your help in finding out the cause of my slow laptop (purchased January '07). It is taking so long to boot up (upwards of 5 minutes) and applications open slow too. The "VM" in my processes showed iexplore nearly hit 200,000k last night... the internet hardly worked. The laptop is only 2yrs old, so I didn't think i'd be experiencing these issues so soon into its life!

Ok. Originally thought the slowness was due to too many files on the laptop (120GB HDD), so we bought a 1TB WD home edition external HDD & I moved around 50GB of files over from the laptop, but didn't help (i have 64GB of free space atm). I've downloaded & subscribed to numerous virus checkers, malware checkers, spyware checkers, windows defender & ran them in normal mode and safe mode. Every scan comes up clean. I've also downloaded/subscribed to various programs promising to speed up the computer performance & update my drivers (although there are 2 drivers i apparently need - they downloaded/installed successfully, but my laptop wont retain them... the scan keeps picking them up as being out of date regardless of how many times i download/install the updated version - they are: Intel(R) 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 2789 & Intel(R) 82801 PCI Bridge - 2448).
