Trouble downloading Malwarebytes

Q: Trouble downloading Malwarebytes

Lately I have been having download problems. Today I tried to install Malwarebytes on my computer and when I get to the box at the bottom of the screen that says...

"Do you want to open or save mbam-setup-1_75_0_1300.exe (9.80 MB) from fs12.Filehippo.com"

Open Save Cancel

When I click on the open button nothing happens, same with the save and cancel button. Even the red X, close button doesn't work. Sometimes I will get a box that pops up asking me what I want to use to open it with, Adobe, Internet Explorer, ect. but when I try one of those it doesn't work either. Thanks for any ideas on whats going on.

Preferred Solution: Trouble downloading Malwarebytes

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The download of Malwarebytes does not complete and leaves a message to resume the update.  This happened before and after many times and still has not completed.   Now I have had to do a reset because of a SSD problem and I am having the same problem.  If this is not unique to me maybe someone else has found a solution.   That would be nice although I am definitely open to other suggestions.  It is becoming very frustrating. Thanks very much, zbuckoneMod Edit: Moved to Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware Software ~~ boopme

Simply downloading a program (MBAM* or any other legitimate security application) would not break your internet access or browser.

Did you run a scan with MBAM and it detected and removed malware?
Some types of malware (and the removal thereof) can result in problems with internet access.
This can often be repaired with the help of malware experts and the guided use of special tools.

it says thatversion of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running check computers system information to see whether you need an x86 (32bit)or x 64 (64 bit) version of the program and contact the software publisher.

There is only one version of the MBAM installer; there are not separate 32-bit or 64-bit versions.
That particular message likewise suggests the possibility of infection.

And I also get a c;\windows\system32\sendori.DLL is either not designed..... I can't get online due to these. Can anybody help. I also have an issue with many programs not working and get a not responding (top left corner of window)

Since you are having problems with "many programs not working", it sure sounds as if you could be infected.

I would suggest getting formal, guided help from a trained malware expert, either here or at another... Read more

Having only MSE on two W7 pc's and on three W8.1 pc's, I thought that it would be sensible to heed the experts on this forum and on the W7 forum and start using Malwarebytes. I installed the free version on the first four, but forgot to untick the "trial version" on no 5. When it finished loading, I uninstalled from the W8.1 pc and when I reinstalled the option for free only no longer existed. I don't want the pro version so if anyone knows how to solve this problem, I would be grateful.

A:Malwarebytes downloading problems

After running the uninstall you can use CCleaner to clean up Registry Issues. I advise making a Restore Point and selecting to back up the Registry before selecting to resolve all issues. CCleaner is reliable but I did get one buggy version where I got burnt because I didn't select registry backup when cleaning. In the very next version that bug was fixed. Better safe than sorry though.

I'm guessing MBAM leaves a setting in the Registry so that you won't keep running Trial and getting a new 30 days or whatever it is, by uninstalling then installing again.

I started this subject in the Windows 7 forum.  It was moved to the Am I infected forum.  I am requesting that it be moved to this forum please.  I'm not sure if I still have the combofix log.  I may have deleted it, however, I will run or do whatever a moderator tells me to.  After the log on this link, I have given a more detailed description of the problems I'm having.  If I need to do something different, please let me know.  I'm still learning about posting in the forums.
Thank you for your help.

Hello danzkin,
My name is Cody and I'll be helping you clean up your computer.
What's below is very important information. Please take the time to read it before we get started.
I will reply as soon as possible (typically within 24 hours). In turn, I ask that you please respond within 72 hours. If you know you will be away longer than that, I just ask for notice ahead of time.
I am in Orlando, Florida at GMT-5 Hours (Eastern Standard Time). As previously stated, I normally respond within 24 hours, but I am a university student currently working part time. If I do not respond within 48 hours, feel free to send me a private message.
Some points for you to keep in mind:
Do NOT run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability.
Do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
I cannot see your computer.
Periodically update me on the condition of your computer, and provide detail in every post.
Once things seem to be working again, please do not abandon the thread. I will give an "all-clean" message at the very end.
NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of heartaches if things don't go as planned.... Read more

I was recently infected with Antispyware Pro. I don't think I got rid of it, but I no longer have the constant pop-ups. However, when I try to Google search Malwarebytes, the browser automatically closes. Even when I download the Malwarebytes.exe file, nothing happens when I double-click it. I also can't Google search HiJack this, although I haven't yet tried downloading it on a different computer and transferring it over. I downloaded Spyware Doctor because Symantec wasn't updating, and it said that I was infected with a Trojan.

I used those to programs to clean out much malware. Afterwards the active protection of my malwarebytes was set to off. If I log on as sysadmin, reset the settings, save the settings, then reboot, it is reset to inactive. I uninstalled ccleaner and ESET, reset malwarebytes, rebooted and the problems remains. I don't see any ESET or ccleaner processes or files, but I can't reset my mwb active protection. Now when I try to run malwarebytes it hangs after 2 seconds, tells, then terminates, and says the scan did not finish successfully and offers:  "view detailed log", which when I click just leads me to C:

Client Machine started getting the Google work at home pop-up ads at various intervals even when not surfing the internet. Went to download.com to download the latest version of Malwarebytes for that client. Saved the installation file and then attempted to run it. I receive the following error message at the end of the installation:

Unable to execute file 'C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe'.

Create process failed; code 2
The system cannot find the file specified.
I am logged in as a user with computer administrative privileges and forgot to mention that I am running XP Professional. I downloaded the file from download. com on to a different machine and then jumped it over to the client in question and still got the same error message.

What should I do next to try to get Malwarebytes to install? If I am barking up the wrong tree and the pop-up work at home ads can be taken care of a different way, then I am up for that advice as well. Thanks!

Hi all.

I couldn't find any threads that cover my exact issue and I assume that this is the correct section of the board to post in... anyway, my issue is as follows:

IE8 won't allow me to download any programs. The download box pops up as normal and the progress bar goes to 100% but then it just closes and the download is nowhere to be seen. The search function won't find it either; the program is not on my computer.

The only bits of advice I've found online is to download Firefox (which would be great if it wasn't for the initial downloading problem) and also altering permissions in the Component Services bit (dcomcnfg), which did nothing.

I've also turned off Windows Firewall and am using Kaspersky 2011 with all permissions set so that it doesn't delete stuff automatically.

I also had an issue with uTorrent that I believe to be related: Whenever I clicked on a link to download a torrent, uTorrent wouldn't pick up on the fact that I was attempting to add a torrent to the download list. I was able to add a new torrent by inputting the URL but they would invariably fail.

(Foolishly, I had a bit of a tantrum and uninstalled uTorrent so as to install BitComet but then realised that I couldn't download that anyway. I blame quitting smoking.)

Any ideas?

The icon you see traditionally means that there is no application set to open the file in question. or that the file in question is corrupt. My computer recently crashed and I reinstalled the operating system to fix it. Unfortuneatly though, when I tried to download AIM the "download box" immediately dissapeared; making me unable to download it. I tried downloading other things, such as Flash, but everytime the download box opens, it closes alomst a nano second after it opens. Then same thing happens whenever I try to download things from my email too!

Is there some way to fix this problem?

Certainly. Make sure all drivers are installed. And try getting Microsoft updates then downloading and installing other software.

The worst case scenerio would be : you had a bad stick of ram and windows installation was corrupt. However I think you will be able to solve this problem with windows updates.

I don't know whether this is an XP or an IE thing...

I inhereted this laptop at my company. I have full admin rights to it, btw.

This is kind of tough to explain. When I go to download certain types of programs - not files with a direct link to the file, but something that's supposed to run an installer on my machine - I don't get a prompt to download the software and the files don't start to download.

For example, go to http://download.sidestep.com/get/k00...&param=onlyGet

If you click I Agree, it should start to download a file. Except on my machine, it won't. I've had this same problem at other sites and it's becoming a major issue - I can't DL the webconferencing software we use, either.

I've gone into IE tools/Security/Custom Level and made sure that everything in ActiveX will download (or at least prompt me), but I don't get the pop-up box to download these types of programs. I've dropped my security levels to the bare minimums, but that didn't help either.

For what it's worth, the Sidestep site listed above gives me this error message:
This is taking too long.

I am having trouble downloading anything from any website whether it's through IE, Netscape or AT&T browser. When I go to any website to download, computer acts like it's downloading, but the end result is a large solid window, except for a small white square in the upper left hand corner of this large white window. Within that small white square there's a even smaller red square in it's left hand corner. Then below that is a blue triangle. Then to the right of those two small objects, there's a small black circle. I have searched and searched the internet for any explanations, but to no aval. Even AT&T couldn't explain it either when they tried to use their remote assistance to help me with downloading their software. I have taken a picture of this weird looking icon with my cell phone. If anyone out there would give me their cell phone # I'll send the picture to you. I have dug deep into IE's internet options, but don't see anything that should be blocking me from downloading. All options are checked that allows downloading. Please help!

Boxergirl I don't know HOW you are downloading Win10, but the best way to do it is using the Media Creation Tool:  Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool - Windows Help With this tool, you have the option of (1) creating Win10 installation media (USB or DVD), (2) downloading an ISO file, (3) updating the PC directly.  What I recommend is getting an 8GB USB stick and using option (1) to create installation media, then inserting that media and running the Upgrade. Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on my post to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================================================================

You may be infected with Poweliks or Xswkit (aka Gootkit, a Poweliks clone) which typically affects the ability to browse or download files using Internet Explorer and causes PowerShell error alerts. Task Manager typically shows numerous occurrences of (COM Surrogate) dllhost.exe or dllhst3g.exe. If using a 64-bit version of Windows, then these entries will be listed as dllhost.exe *32 or dllhst3g.exe *32. These processes are known to spawn and consume a large amount of system resources. When attempting to download files in Internet Explorer you may receive the message "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded." or you may see a pop-up alert advising that "powershell (powershell.exe) has stopped working".If you are having trouble downloading files with Internet Explorer, follow these instructions to re-enable downloads/reset all Security zones to default.

Hello! I'm having a bit of trouble trying to remove malware from my computer. I have ran the virus scanner MalwareBytes and removed all of the PUP bugs it suggested removing. Most of them seemed to be browser-addon related, so I removed them. However, after doing this, IE, Firefox, and Chrome all stopped working.

I am able to ping websites via the Command Line, and I can connect using a few other applications, however I am only able to either get to one page and then it cuts off, or not at all. After updating Firefox, I was able to get to google.com and navigate around there, but it was still extremely spotty. I'm trying to download a registry repair program, and am having trouble with that.

The applications that were related to the stuff I removed with Malwarebytes were: Wajam, Montera, SweetIM, WeCare, Conduit, SweetPacks, Mindspark

I believe its simply residue from the removal of these things thats causing the problems

I have attached the initial log. any suggestion helps!

Turn On Auto-updates in MS-antispyware and reset websettings in Tools>Internet options>programs> click "Reset Web Settings" and press '"Yes" then restore IE settings....Tools>internet options>Advanced> click on "restore defaults" then click "Apply" and 'ok'. if still not downloading uninstall MS-antispyware and then download any thing if it does then reinstall MS-antispyware and dont disable Auto-updates again.

Okay, i am not sure what causes this, not even really sure what forum it belongs in, but here is my problem.

When downloading things, whether in IE or Mozilla Firefox, the download seems to think its done about halfway into it, if not less. Anything I download does this, it starts, and finishes...and me, thinking its done, open it. It of course doesnt work and i look at the file size and its way smaller than what its intended to be.

My question is, what causes this, and if you know that...how do i fix it?

While I was downloading Windows 8.1, I accidentally shut my laptop off (which it clearly states not to do during the download) and now I cant download 8.1

It used to give me an error code but now it just says "cannot download windows 8.1" or "your windows 8.1 download could not be completed" in the windows store.

I'm not a techy so English words would be much appreciated.

pls halp.

I have access to a file sharing site and am having trouble downloading the MS Word documents. I keep getting a message the "Internet Explorer cannot download...HID=FA2_14&operation download from www.ibackup.com. Internet Explorer wasn ot able to download to open this intenet site. The requesteed siteis either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again." All the other participants running Window XP are having no problems. I can download some of the PDF files. I tried saving them instead of opening and that doesn't work either. I tried using my laptop which is running XP and had no problems. My desktop is currently running Windows XP SP2. I even shut down my Secretmaker and Zone Alarm and still no luck. I haven't been able to find any tips from Microsoft to fix it that I can understand. Any ideas?

Hello, I'm running Vista 32 bit, and I'm trying to download a file. It's been posted on mediafire and the developer's website, but I can't get it to download. A link to it is here: http://vne.x10.mx/dfo-vne/DFO-Vne3.2.zip or http://www.mediafire.com/?ngmflwcn50pytsp . Both have the same issue.

It's had a few versions uploaded, and I can't download any of them. I've tried downloading it on the latest IE, Firefox, and Google Chrome, and they return errors such as "The file cannot be downloaded", "Source file cannot be read" and "Download was interrupted". Trying with the Downthemall addon for firefox returned the error "Size Mismatch *".

Incomplete .part and .tmp files can be found in the download and temporary folders.

I know that many people have downloaded it and not experienced this error (I just watched my friend download it over teamviewer, but attempts for him to transfer it over to me have failed as well. When I click the file, it says something along the lines of it not being found), so it seems specific to my computer, and not a problem with the website.

The file has chinese characters in it, which I believe might be a source of the problem, but I don't know. Is there any way I can download this file?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Im hoping that you are not referring to a p2p'd movie
in trusting that you have downloaded it via a legitimate source may i ask what file extension the movie is? .DVX .AVI ect
however i feel that this could be a case a fake file downloaded by a source not condoned by vista forums

I recently bought a program online and while going to down load it it starts up fine but about half way through it stops and says a problem has caused the program to stop working. I have tried using chrome, internet explorer! Firefox. I even tried the fire fox download manager called download them all but always the same thing. I have tried restarting my computer and internet, disabling my antivirus, going direct into my modem instead of wireless. But nothing, I'm freaking out that I may have wasted 200 bucks. I had a relative in another state who is pretty tech savy look into for me, he was able to download it on his computer with no problems and he tried to send me the zip file but I couldn't get that either

Here is my original problem in a nutshell. I am a beginner. I installed an old windows xp i had (2002). After installation i couldn't connect to the internet. I checked the drivers, and sure enough, they had a ? next to their name. I needed these drivers: ethernet controller, multimedia audio controller, video controller. I have only 1 computer, so i thought i should try the ubuntu (linux) cd i had. I installed ubuntu, and now i have internet. I went to dell.com/support and tried downloading drivers. I get this "delldriverdownloadmanager.application", a plain text document, 9.3 kb in size (not the 3.3 mb size i expect). I don't think this is the correct driver application. I cannot open it in winzip. I don't know what i am doing wrong. Can i download these drivers using a linux OS? Any help would be appreciated.

A:Trouble downloading drivers

It looks like Dell is trying to make you use a download manager to download the drivers (why they do this I do not know), try looking for a direct download link, if you can't find one, you can try using a friend's computer to download the ethernet drivers.

Alright, so when I download a torrent persay, it usually downloads through limewire but i somehow messed around and messed it up. So now, it tries to download through itunes....how do I change it so that it downloads back through limewire?

A:Downloading music trouble

Two things:
First: there is no safe way to deal with P2P, and my firm is inundated with calls and computers everyday from people who don't believe me, and thought some free AV program on the web would help them.

Second: the likelihood of pirated data being passed over torrent or Limewire is about 100%, give or take, and I'll answer no question about them.

You have a simple file associations problem, but given the context, I can't condone the process, and won't be helping on this one.

I have been having trouble downloading some files from a site that I have had no problems d/ling from in the past. I download a large (6M) file on my dial-up (1hr+) which I have done before w/no probs and it gets to 99% and then stops responding, causing me to have to end task it to unlock the window. I have turned off my screensavers, both discontinued all surfing and surfed to make sure the line stayed open, and generally babysat the things (tried several different files of roughly the same size) to no end. They will sometimes actually write the .zip file, but when they do it has "unknown errors". I have tried all of their mirrors, both in the US and abroad. The site is reputable and has been reliable in the past. I can d/l small files (up to 1MB) with no probs. I am using IE 6 for my browser on my Win98 machine (see sig). Any thoughts would be great. I really want those files!

Hi - my browser (IE5) is malfunctioning since I tried to download and run Microsoft's lovely "Critical Security updates." The other day, my browser opened to one of MS's occasional security alert pages. Unfortunately, I decided to follow their suggestions and the install did not work right. Now, when I click a link within a Web page to open a new browser window, it does not work. It just freezes. I also am unable to click a link within an Outlook Express message and open a new browser window.

Another new problem: When I go to IE Help, I get this box: "Internet Explorer Script Error, Line 78, char 1, Error in loading dll, do you want to continue loading scripts on this page?" And Help does not work. Finally, one more change: I used to be able to type Control-F while on a Web page and the Find function box would pop open. Doesn't happen now.

When I first attempted to download the Microsoft security patch/update, I got a message saying I needed to first download IE 5.5, SP1. I had IE 5.05 at the time, which was working perfectly well. Wish I had left it alone! One more thing. When I used the IE Install Wizard after the IE5.5 SP1 download, I at first opted for the "minimal" install of browser only, without taking the new Outlook Explorer and Media Player. Did this screw things up? After having these problems, I ran IEsetup.exe a second time and opted for "typical install," including Outlook Explorer and Media Player but it... Read more
