Digital Signatures?

Q: Digital Signatures?

Hi,

I have 2 OS on my PC, one Vista Ultimate and the other XP. When I log on both OS are displayed for logging onto but I can only log onto the Vista OS.

The XP brings up this:

"error: 0xc0000428 System 32\ntkrnlpa.exe Windows cannot verify the Digital Signature of the file?"

Now, I need to mention here that the current Vista instillation is of the second kind, it's the second instillation of Vista and XP was installed when the first instillation of Vista was on my PC.

That may have something to do with this error I imagine. But I am not to familiar with Digital Signatures. I'm not sure what I need to do to update this signature so that I don't have to also totally re-install the XP OS.

Right clicking on the file in question doesn't bring up any options for updating the signiture either. I am at a lose.

Anyone know what to do here?

John

Preferred Solution: Digital Signatures?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Digital Signatures?

I'm a bit confused here, what was installed first - Vista or XP?I would first try running Startup Repair with your Vista installation disk ( http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/repair-windows-with-windows-startup-repair/ )If that doesn't fix it, then we'll have to have a deeper look. Let us know how it works out.

Hi,

Currently my company are trying to go paperless. At the moment we hold all our internal forms on the companies intranet. These are pdf files and currently can be attached and emailed to relevant people throughout the service.

However the major problem we have at the moment is that we can't use digital signatures and due to the fact that are depots are in a range of places this can prove to be quite a problem.

What is the best method of implementing digital signatures across the services. I was thinking that the digital pads would be the best option due to the range of manual workers we have, however how can we be sure that these signatures are secure and will they work with adobe and ms word.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi Guys,

I was wondering do any of you know anything about digital signatures. Basically I want to be able add signatures to emails, word docs etc. so I can just send them via email without and having to print, sign and post.

Id really appreciate if anybody could give me advise regarding this.

Thanks a lot.

Are you wanting an electronic form of the digital signature or a visual representation of an actual signature? These are two different things.

I need some information about electronic signatures and digital signatures.

What is the difference between the two? I am under the impression that digital signatures are more secure...is that correct? Would that better to use for signing legal documents?

How does one go about getting a digital signature or an electronic signature created?

Hi

I recently updated some software and it then refused to open. When I contacted the vendor they asked me to check the Digital Signatures in a couple of the programmes files and I found that the digital signatures were
invalid - the certificate states "One of the countersignatures is not valid. The file may have been altered". When I view the certificate it states "The timestamp signature and/or certificate could not be verified or is malformed".

The vendor says that Digital Signatures are placed on my PC during the Windows Updating process and there is nothing they can do.

I have always kept my OS (XP Home SP2) updated so cannot understand how this can happen. Furthermore, I have permitted the software to always have access the Internet in my Norton Internet Security 2005 Firewall.

My problem is, is it possible to update the Digital Signature List in my OS and if so, how do I do it? If I cannot, is there any way that I can resolve this problem?

A:Help with Digital Signatures

Ok I am not sure this will work but if i give you my theory, then maybe you or someone else could help further. If you give a scf /scannow in cmd, that will ensure all the protected windows files are in place. The reason i give you this information, is that after this process you will need to 'reinstall' all updates etc. So basically your computer files (at least some of them) - not your data, will be as it was when the cd installed them.

How this may help is if you have to replace the mircosoft update files, this may fix your issue (according to your vendor). I will look into this a bit more, but if you try this please, back up any data (as if i had to tell you) : )
Good luck

Hi,

I plan to use digital signature in a geographical diverse company. I have created editable forms available on the company intranet (These will be filled in online). I want to use digital signatures which can only be used one individual, it is essential that only the person authorised to use the signature can. Is this possible if all the signatures are stored on a universal drive on the company's server? How can I ensure that people can access the original scanned in signature needed to create the digital signature in the first place.

Thanks

A:Solved: Digital Signatures in Acrobat Reader 8

Individual file rights can be given via your system admin. Within Adobe Reader you can go to "Document">>"Security Settings" from the menu bar and you can add the digital certificate/ID. Typically the certificates are password protected so that users that should not be using them won't.

I've recently ordered a PC from CyberPower, and had to buy a copy of Windows XP from Newegg to run the OS on it, of course; I wound up purchasing XP Pro SP3, as it has served me very well on a previous computer in the past.

After installing all the drivers that came on the discs, everything appeared to be working normally. However, no downloads of mine will work. Instead, on every single download when I try to open it I get a warning declaring that there is no valid digital signature; when I press Run anyway, I usually receive a Corrupt file message of some sort. Both digital signature and corrupt file messages occur downloading very trusted programs at their home page, including Firefox, iTunes, Ad-Aware, AVG, Spybot: S&D, Steam, and Mozilla Opera, off the top of my head.

This only happens when I'm trying to install programs I've downloaded from the internet. The connection works fine, the download proceeds smoothly, but the installation is always where I fail. I've spent several hours with a MS employee yesterday and we both seem stumped. Installations from inserting a disc appear to be working fine, as I've had no problem installing drivers as well as programs like Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007.

This problem has become more than a little annoying, and I hope you guys can help provide some better insight as to what the problem is and hopefully help me rectify it! Thank you very much for your time and patience.

A:Valid digital signatures/corrupted downloads

After you download the file, copy it onto a flash drive and try to run it on a different computer. That way we will at least know whether the problem is with the internet download or with the process of running the program.

Just completed my first build and installed Windows 7 on it and immediately noticed some glitches. Whenever I opened some basic windows applications, the User Account Controller would state that the publisher was unknown. Also had problems getting the video card and network adapter drivers installed. Windows said the digital signatures could not be verified. After a lot of internet searching I decided to reinstall the OS since I hadn't put any significant data on the computer yet. That seemed to fix the driver issues. The device manager said everything was working properly. But I still noticed and worried about those pesky UAC prompts. Why wasn't Windows recognizing it's own programs? Once I got internet connection working it only got worse. Certain websites wouldn't be recognised, video played weird and crashed my browsers (IE8 & Firefox 3.6) often. (That may or may not be unrelated). Then I noticed Windows update wouldn't work either. Thinking I should just reinstall again, but did I do something wrong with the first reinstall? I booted from the CD and installed over the original OS. Maybe this is a 64 bit issue as I have Win7 64-bit.

MS Word will allow you to save multiple versions of a document in the same document using Versioning (File/Versions).

What I can't seem to figure out is how to keep my Digital Signatures in a document that has multiple versions. Normally, when you save a document that has Digital Signatures in it, they are deleted. That's ok and helps protect the integrity of the document. But when I save a NEW version of that document into itself using File/Versions, it should not save the digital signatures in the CURRENT version of the document (which I just saved) but SHOULD save all of the digital signatures in the previous versions, right?

But it doesn't. It deletes out all of the Digital Signatures of the current and previous versions (I'm only able to test it one version back as any saving deletes current and previous signatures).

Anyone found a way around this or am I just doing it wrong?

I'm trying to build a template form that can be used to propose new projects. I have a dynamic table where the author can add rows to add offices that will be involved in the project. I also have a table at the end that represents a "workflow" that the final proposal will go through so that all the offices involved can approve the document.

Right now I'm using javascript so that when a row is added to the offices table, a corresponding row is added to the workflow table. But I can't place a digital signatures in the newly created row of the workflow table.

I understand this is not supported, that LiveCycle will not let you put a digital signature in a repeating form. Does anyone know of another way to achieve the same effect? Basically I need a form that can support a variable number of digital signatures. Any help is greatly appreciated.

When I ran Tweaking.com's Windows Repair, it kept saying, "RegEdit.exe doesn't exist," on every repair, so I ran Rkill as soon as the icons came up on restart. For the first time, it found more than processes to terminate; it found a whole bunch of missing digital signatures. I'm really freaking out. I'm including the logs of that Rkill and Windows Repair. I ran Combofix, too, because my tech-savvy friend who built this laptop for me told me to "Toss Combofix at it, then Malwarebytes, and then whatever else anti-malware programs you might have and choose to use." So, I'm putting the logs in the body of the message because I know that's how you folks like it done.

A:Ran Rkill immed on boot, got many Missing Digital Signatures. RegEdit won't run

Hi,

Since you have run Combofix, please follow these instructions:

Please follow the instructions in THIS GUIDE starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.
Once the proper logs are created (make sure to include the combofix log created, probably located at C:\ComboFix.txt), then make a NEW TOPIC and post it HERE. Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.
If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. Hello.

Recently I have had some big issues with my computer. The computer has gotten slow (especially in games and heavy softwares) and it has huge problems updating computer softwares and installing them. In many online games, my fps often drop under 10. Can outdated drivers cause this? I have tried to update my drivers (I have Intel Core I5 2500k and ATI HD Radeon 5700), but then the screen got all messed up so I had to do system restore.
I also feel like I have lost some administrational rights, since it often occur that I cant open folders "because I dont have the admin rights" and often have to manually open programs as an administrator.

When I install new programs, I often get error saying that the digital signatures could not be verified or that it is something wrong with the "integrity". I cant use the windows update, I get the 800B0001 error. I have tried running Microsoft FixIt, but then I also get an error saying that it could not be installed because there was something wrong with the intergrity.

I have scanned with antiviruses several times (AVG, Avast, Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D). I had some kind of PUP.Optional "adware" (I dont think its classified as adware). I have deleted it and all the files and registry keys with it. It seems that some of it may be left since I get redirected to "www.my-online-search.com" when I open new tabs in firefox.

I have tried running SFC /SCANNOW, where it found several damaged files but could not r... Read more

Hello.

I just finished scanning with Rkill and it came up with two malware processes, as well as numerous possibly patched files, and missing digital signatures. Yesterday when I ran Rkill it showed nothing out of the ordinary with the exception of the Windows Defender being disabled.

Somehow I don't understand what suddenly spiked such unusual activity. What I'd like to know is, is that if these have something to do with the current database of Rkill, or something else.

I couldn't post the log because it was too long so here's the link.

file:///C:/Users/Lisa/Desktop/Rkill.txt

Thank you.

A:Malware Services, Possibly Patched Files, and Lots of Missing Digital Signatures

Welcome to BC !   I did look at your other posts. Perhaps you can just copy and paste the info on the two malware processes
RKill stopped. The list of 'missing' sigs won't help.

See what the two scans below find and remove.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here
Double-click mbam-setup-2.X.X.XXXX.exe to install the application (X's are the current version number).
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
Once MBAM opens, when it says Your databases are out of date, click the Fix Now button.
Click the Settings tab at the top, and then in the left column, select Detections and Protections, and if not already checked place a checkmark in the selection box for Scan for rootkits.
Click the Scan tab at the top of the program window, select Threat Scan and click the Scan Now button.
If you receive a message that updates are available, click the Update Now button (the update will be downloaded, installed, and the scan will start).
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
If potential threats are detected, ensure that Quarantine is selected as the Action for all the listed items, and click the Apply Actions button.
While still on the Scan tab, click the link for View detailed log, and in the window that opens click the Export button, select Text file (*.txt), and save the log to your Desktop.
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can also be viewed by clicking the History tab an... Read more

I was looking for a motherboard to replace my old biostar motherboard that will only support 2 gigs 667mhz, and only overclocks my e5200 up to 3 ghz even when maxing out the voltage. I am on a very tight budget, and this Msi board caught my attention http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130219

Then I checked the MSI website to get more information on this board
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=1711

This board catches my attention because....

Its New
Its a Micro Atx with the Pci express x1 below the Pci express 2.0
Drmos Really caught my attention because it states that it makes the board energy efficent, offers a lower tempature and a more stable overclocking enviorment

Do you think its a good budget motherboard for a gamer and an overclocker like me??

The Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L will do the job nicely and help you save money. It is also a more reliable choice compared to the MSI board.

Hi, I've recently switched to Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (High Definition Audio Device) using one Toslink cable instead of all the analog wires going from my PC to my receiver. The digital sound is amazing, CD quality from my PC is great. However, I now also receive the digitized sound of pages being loaded as I surf the web. All sound comes out digitized when loading a new page. Is there a way to stop this from happening while listening to music or course material without gong back to analog? Can I have my digital CD quality and enjoy it too! John

I assume you're running Windows. Which one?

I do a lot of audio work on mine, using Windows XP SP 3, and was able to kill the sounds by opening the Control Panel, then Sounds and Audio Devices, and then click on the Sounds tab. For "Sound Scheme" select "No Sounds" and click the "Save As" box.

On board sound cards are not known for their quality but try going in to your sound panel and muting all input and output sources you do not use (like mic and analog)

Hey everyone

I just got a set of Boston Acoustics Digital Media Theater Speakers. They're pretty nice for 1999. I'd probably go as far as saying they're the best set of computer 2.1s I've ever heard.

Problem is, I can currently only run them through analogue because I have no digital cable for them. The connect on the sub looks like either a digital coax or RCA connect, which should run out to the 1/8 in. mini digital out on my SoundBlaster Live! card.

The manual doesn't say exactly what it is anywhere. It shows a picture of a cable with a single RCA end and a 1/8 in. mini stereo end.

Problem is, every such cable I find is mono on the mini end.

Any ideas on where to find a such cable?

Thanks,

Joe

I attached a picture of the back, it is blurry, but you can at least see what it is. (top right jack)

Help!!
I am hoping to use a monitor (not attached to a computer) to run a slide show of photos at an event. I purchased a MICCA Speck G2 media player BUT after I got it home I realized that my monitor does not have an A/V or HDMI port - which are the only cables that came with the media player. I then went & purcased a HDMI to DVI-D cable so I could connect the player to my monitor - HOWEVER - I still cannot get them to talk to each other! I?m not very technical but I am a problem solver and this has me stumped - HELP , PLEASE!!

I have a Pioneer 106s DVD ROM which has a digital 2 pin output.

I just bought a Sony STRDE 675 dolby digital amplifier which has a coaxial digital in input.

My sound card, a soundblaster Live CT 4830 does have a digital out connector on the external part (next to the line in input), but does not have a 2 pin connector on the card itself where the DVD could be connected (there is the place with SPDIF marked but for some reason there is no 2 pins connector)

I do not want to buy a 5.1 soundcard if I can connect my DVD ROM to the amplifier without using the soundcard, Is this possible! Is the DVD rom digital out SPDIF recognised by the amplifier?

Should I create on the soundcard (which does have the digital output on the ecternal panel) an internal connection for the 2 pins? will this work?

Does anyone have a clue? HELP!!
many thanks

Modifying it isn't going to work in my mind.
Just adding pin connections don't mean the hardware and software is included with the card.

Sound functions but reciever is only detecting 2 channel output. Apon browsing RealTekHD audio properites I discovered that the only options for Digital Output(RCA) were all 2-Channel under "Default Format" tab. However my front pannel Audio Output Jack(HD Audio 2nd Output) has an extra third tab labeled "Speaker Configuration" and has options for up to 7.1 surround but these settings do not impact my Digital Output(RCA) channel. Now my reciever does have a multi-channel input that could take advantage of the Analog Outputs in the rear but the distance is to great and multiple wires are expensive.

My question is how can i configure my RealTek Digital Output(RCA) to ouput 7 channel sound?

What weight, if any, do they hold?

I don't think they are/can be legally binding...but if they can be - what form/method is required to make it so?

In your opinion, who has the best overall signatures for both website and file scanning?

A:Who has the best signatures?

Small explanation about Emsisoft Anti-malware signature dual-engines mechanism (Bit Defender + proprietary/homemade) :

We continuously check which threats are already detected by Bitdefender and disable all signatures in our own engine that were created to detect the same threats. As a result you of course will see 99% "(B)" detections when scanning large malware archives. That is because we focus on the tiny delta on top of Bitdefender (which does a quite good job).
Our own signatures mostly focus on brand new malwares and PUPs. Hours later Bitdefender then usually publishes the same signatures so we can disable ours again.

Also our Anti-Malware Network (Cloud) will complement our engines and the Web Filter will prevent you to access malicious websites.

Hello!

I am aware of the AutoSignature feature in Microsoft Outlook 97 & I believe
it has the facility to hold just one Signature.

However, in Outlook Express, in the Tools, Options, Signatures section,
there is the facility for more than one signature.

My question is... is there the facility for multiple signatures in Outlook
97 similar to the facility in Outlook Express?

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes.

Tim Cutler.

A:Signatures.

I have Outlook 2000 and there is the option under Signature to create numerous Sig's I have four set up when you have Outlook open go to Tools | Options | Signature Picker | new

You should still have the same option in the 97 version.

Hi...Why can't I create an email signature in Word and use it in OL Express?
I personally use OL but have clients that want to control font type as well as add logos to their email signatures. When I attempt to bring that file from Word to OL Express it wont accept it.
Or....is there a way to create it in OL express and have control over font type etc...and insert pics or logos?

Any ideas????

Thanks,

Hi and welcome, a cut a paste from the Outlook Express help file:

To add a signature to outgoing messages

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Signatures tab.
To create a signature, click New and then either enter text in the Edit Signature box or click File, and then find the text or HTML file you'd like to use.
Select the Add signatures to all outgoing messages check box.
