streaming capture produces SILENT files...help!

Q: streaming capture produces SILENT files...help!

HI, I have tried to capture streaming audio using several applications now and I always end up with the same result. It seems to be recording away and even produces large size files (wave or MP3) BUT when i go to play the files back I get...silence. I have tried configuring my computer every which way. I have never had any sound probs before, whether ripping CDs, recording from mic, line-in from records, you name it.... until now.
I'm tearing out my hair. I have a Creative Awe 64 Soundblaster card, and use WIN 95 OS (ok don't laugh)
any ideas?? thanx

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have followed thoroughly various tutorials for setting up OBS for streaming. Initially I had set it up for Youtube, then switched to Twitch. This works fine. I have absolutely no complaint with that. Streaming out to these platforms is working as I would like.
This issue I'm experiencing is what I can best describe as a pulsing or jumping, about once per second when I play a file back that I have recorded (not streamed) with OBS.

The audio is flawless, no stuttering, nothing like that. Audio BR is at 160...

As I watch the status information in OBS as I am recording, I see no warning about overloaded encoder, the frame rates are where they are supposed to be, no dropped frames. everything should appear to be good. CPU load is unremarkable, again plenty of headroom. It doesn't seem to matter if I increase bit rate, decrease bit rate, CBR, VBR, increase or decrease framerate, or which software i use to view the output fine: VLC, WMP, whatever, there is this pulsing. Its just enough to be annoying. Its subtle, but it's there. And it doesn't matter which PC I play the file on ( I have a few I can test it with)

The computer running OBS is more than adequate for the task.

I have - in an effort to improve things - changed recording format, changed encoder, even the location to which I was saving it ( initially that was a network drive, but I change to an internal SSD for test purposes) I can not get rid of this.

This is just for a little pet project, I ... Read more

Hello,

I need to capture streaming video from a website. I need to show the video to a group but I will not have internet access when I show it so I need to download it. I am unable to capture it using online downloaders or browser downloaders. The video is streamed in Windows Media format and played in Windows Media Player.

Anyone know a way to capture streaming video? If software is required, do you know of any free or open source tools?

Hey I wanted to get your opinion on this.

I got my wife a laptop for Christmas, it?s a Compaq c777cl

Our digital video camera is a sony trv22

We want to connect the camera to the laptop to capture the video which is on the mini dv tape.

I have done this already on my old desktop computer thru the usb port and it works fine. But my desktop has XP.

The new laptop has vista.

I have read that vista does NOT support usb streaming and that you need a 1394 port or whatever for a firewire

The laptop does not have this port. It also does NOT have a PCMCIA port or any other type of expansion port on it so a 1394 card which sells for only 20-50 dollars is not an option either.

So I?m stuck.

The only way to get video to this laptop is to put the camera in memory stick mode and then either hook it up (it will recognize the card as drive F) or remove the card and stick it in the digital media slot on the side of the laptop. But the problem with that is the video quality when using memory stick is not nearly as good as when you record like normal on the mini DV tape.

What would you do?

Hi there,

I need a little help with a flash object. There's this object which us bugging me because so far, I am not able to capture its audio's streaming url so that I can put it into some audio player like VLC media player. I see it into a website. I tried some URL sniffers software but they just used Ethernet adapter (something like this) to catch the urls but it didn't show anything because I am using a wireless connection and I use a special software installed on my PC to connect to the internet so there's no ethernet-adapter-like thing involved.

I am here to hear some words from you. If you know any software with the help of which I might be able to catch the streaming url of audio, I would really appreciate it.

When I ran it on another computer that does not have any problems it ran about 3-4 min. and correctly produced the two TXT files. Is there any way to overcome this? Should I try it in safe mode? Hello,
I hope I am posting in the right place.
I use Firefox almost exclusively and although IE is present it is almost never opened.
Yet, when I run CCleaner there are always many more temporary internet files from IE than Firefox. I understand the Microsoft and Windows updater and maybe some few other programs in the background. But, I am talking always at least as many and many times double the files that Firefox produces.
This also happens when I know that IE has had no obvious reason to be open.
I have been trying to resolve this for some time now and have learned nothing. So, figured it was time to come here and ask the experts.
You folks are great.
Thanks,
Michael

A:[SOLVED] IE produces more temp files than my current browser?

It's often not understood that IE is an essential and integral component of the operating system, and parts of it are in use for various tasks in the background even if you never actually use IE for web browsing.

IE does not have be open for many of the tasks which require some of it's resources.

A couple of years ago I got some help in making a batch file run without making any output to the console whatsoever. Not even the flash opening of an empty console window. The solution was a one line VBS script that I really don't understand. The command line, which I have been running from the task scheduler (in Win 98SE) is as follows:

C:\WINDOWS\WSCRIPT.EXE "C:\Seismogr\BatchFiles\invisible.vbs" "C:\Seismogr\BatchFiles\WebUpdate.bat"

and the invisible.vbs file is the contains the following:

CreateObject("Wscript.Shell").Run """" & WScript.Arguments(0) & """", 0, False

Now, I want to launch the batch file from within a C program, rather than from the task scheduler. My problem is that the
system() function takes a quoted string as it's only argument. Since the original command line includes two quoted strings, I wind up with nested quoted strings. The following compiles, but the command doesn't execute properly:

system("C:\WINDOWS\WSCRIPT.EXE 'C:\Seismogr\BatchFiles\invisible.vbs' 'C:\Seismogr\BatchFiles\WebUpdate.bat'");

I've got a syntax problem here, and I'm not shure what to do to fix it.

Hey guys,

Sorry if this has been posted/solved somewhere else. I am trying to install applications from a server onto our local machines. The biggest goal being to be able to run installations 100% silently so that the end user doesn't even know it happened. Is there an easy way to find out which applications take which parameters/switches on the cmd line?

for testing purposes i am trying to install ccleaner and the first box that appears is to select your language. how can i find out what the actual name of this field is so i can provide the value before it even asks.

\\server\share\ccleaner219.exe [LANGUAGE = ENGLISH]

i'm assuming it is something along those lines but that doesn't work. If somebody could point me in the right direction i'd really appreciate it. thanks

-keep in mind i am new to batch file scripting-

A:Silent Application Install with Batch Files

The installer would have to support using command line switches.
You can try progname.exe /? or progname.exe -? to see if it will list any, or contact the author to see if it's supported.

If you know what installer the program is using, you can check their website for info.

InstallShield
Microsoft Windows Installer
CCleaner

Doing a search for ProgramName command line switches or ProgramName command line parameters will often locate the info.
For example, ccleaner command line switches finds the above link as the first one.

So for CCleaner you would use:
ccsetup222 /S /L=1033
to silently install to the default path in English. (222 is the latest version)

Hello -

I have a desktop computer running Windows 7 (connected to a TV) and am using Windows Media Center to record and playback television shows. Everything works fine on that computer with playback onto the TV.

Recently, I bought a new Windows 8 laptop and am interested in streaming recorded shows from that Win 7 media server to the laptop (while at home and on the same network). I enabled streaming through Windows Media Player on the Win 7 machine, as per directions I found online. Basically, I opened WMP, went to Library, clicked on Recorded TV, then clicked on Streaming to allow streaming to local devices.

I find that I can stream non-.wtv files just fine. I tested with a quicktime file that I placed in my Recorded TV folder and also with the sample wildlife video file that comes preloaded with Windows. To do this, I opened WMP on my laptop, navigated to the file, and clicked open. That worked fine. But when I tried streaming a recorded TV show, it just hangs...with a perpetual "Media Changing" message and blank screen.

I thought that maybe it was some setting on my laptop, so I tried disabling the firewall on it. No luck. And I realized that the Sony TV that my Win 7 machine is connected to also supports media streaming, so I went into the TV's menus, navigated to stream from my Win 7 machine, and selected a file. Again, the .wtv files didn't stream, whereas the other video files did.

Any suggestions on what's going on, how to fix this, or maybe even ho... Read more

I've noticed that even with IE 6 and QT 7 fully installed, clicking .mov links doesn't open an instance of QuickTime to stream the target's content. Instead, it tries to fully download the file within IE and then plays it in a small embedded window that can't be resized!

Is there any way to get QuickTime to play its files similarly to other media players? When clicking on a wmv, Windows Media Player will open up and immediately stream the video in an independent, 'resizable' window.

Also, if that's easy enough I've also noticed that even WMP doesn't follow this behavior all the time. For instance, Gmail attachments and many file storage websites automatically give you the old "Open, Save, Cancel" download window. Is there any way to change this or are these links just too indirect for applications to recognise their file associations?

Thanks!

I am building a website with some films in Quicktime MOV format and have noticed that when the link to the MOV file is clicked, it usually tries to play the file within the browser. The files are not really small enough for most surfers to stream (around 30-40mb), and so the browser just sits there for a long time with the Quicktime logo while loading this large video file. Some users have been confused by this and tried to click on the movie again and again, using up a lot more bandwidth than intended in the process.

I would prefer that when users clicked on the link to the MOV file, it simply downloaded it to their computer so they could continue surfing and watch it at their leisure. Is there a way to do this besides just instructing people to do the right-click "Save Link As.." option? Maybe during the encoding process? I know a savvy web user will understand what's going on, but I'd like it to work smoothly for everything.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi I recently bought a new laptop and ever since I got it I have had problems downloading and streaming files, what happens is that they just stop half way through.

I have tried getting a download manager but this did not work as not all sites support the pausing of downloads, I have also tried using Opera and Internet Explorer to check whether it was just a problem with firefox however neither of these have worked either.

I know it is not a problem with my internet connection because my desktop pc can stream and download files fine.

Any help on this problem will be greatly appreciated.

I'm having a problem streaming videos in Vista. When I go to stream something it loads them whole thing into a temp file first and then runs the vid. I had an accident... was dual installing both Vista and Ubuntu and now I've reinstalled both.

Prior to the reformat I didn't have a problem with streaming vids. I'd click on it and it would load up in about a second and stream. Now it fully loads and it doesn't stream at all. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get this work again? I have Vista SP1 x64 and had SP1 installed previously too, so it's not that.

Thanks in advance!

I thought that streaming a video is supposed to reduce the size of a video file. I started with a regular 15 mb size video. Once I streamed it, it became 35 mb. How strange!

Anyway, I am trying to optimize videos, so I can send them through emails to friends.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

A:Streaming Quicktime videos becomes much larger files

Hi. Rather than sending the video files through e-mail, why not upload the files to a server where your friends can then download the video file. This works better for me because a lot of e-mail providers limit the size of an -email and many are under 10MB - this way you have no size limit. I use a free service called SenThisFile. Of course you could always post the video on YouTube. Sending large files via e-mail has always been problematic for me.

I apologize about the length of this post, but I want to include as much detail as possible. I posted about it on tenforums.com as well, since it's also plaguing my 10 PC, but I haven't received any answers in a week despite a lot of views. I'm not being critical of the folks there, just explaining why I'm posting this here, in case others visit both forums.

I've been getting what is best described as stuttering video on two different computers, one running 7 and the other 10. It's not an extreme effect, more like random frames are missing, and it's most noticeable on slow camera pans and zooms, or in slow and smooth FX shots.

At first I thought it was limited to streaming video, but tests and a new modem prove otherwise (our internet speeds are consistently above 200 Mbps). Besides, I found that it's happening with local video files as well, except DVDs and Blu-ray discs. These are MP4 and mpeg-2 files that played smoothly before the problem started, and others made more recently on a standalone device. Most of these files are HD 720p or 1180p, but some are SD.

The 7 PC is an older Dell running an Intel Core 2 Duo E8600, with 4gb of RAM and a separate video card with its own 1gb RAM. The OS is 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I have it set up with our main TV, which is a Hitachi plasma set. I'd blame the PC's age, but it streamed and played local files smoothly until sometime in the past few months.

Side note: My other PC is newer and is running 10 Pro 64-bit, but I still ... Read more

Lately my computer has been unable to download any files or play any streaming video. It will download or play for maybe the first 5-10 seconds and then just freeze. I completely reinstalled Windows because of this and other problems, and it was working for a week or so, but then the problem started right back up. Anyone know how to fix this?

Apologies if this has been asked before, I did a search and didn't see it.

I have my Win7 networking configured to "stream my pictures, music and videos to all devices on my home network". With this setup I'm able to stream media from my computer to my Sony BluRay disc player which works as a DLNA client on my home network. My understanding is that Windows Media Player acts as the DLNA server, transcoding video file formats as necessary to stream them to the networked device.

Additionally, I have installed FLVSplitter.ax from SourceForge into my SysWOW64 folder and registered it to my Win7 registry, enabling playback of .flv files in Windows Media Player. I can confirm that WMP plays .flv files on my local machine fine now. However it doesn't seem to be transcoding those files so they can be streamed to my networked BD player. In fact my BD player doesn't even see the flv files at all, even though they're in my network share location along with all the other video filetypes it does see.

I don't need to stream /flv files to my network all that often (yet) so I'd rather not have to install a whole new DLNA server application to do it if that can be avoided. Is there any way to stream flv files to my network using Win7 and/or WMP's native sharing capabilities?

As an aside, I'd be interested in knowing why MS has decided not to support FLV files in Windows Media Player without jumping through all the hoops. It seems like quite an inconvenience considering how po... Read more

A:Streaming FLV files to home network / DLNA

I'd love to stream flv files to my LGTV like I do to another TV through a WDTV box on my (wired) network.
I find windows media player too clunky to use even for the files it does support so short of buying another WD box is there any way to make my video files visible to the TV over my network? The LG will play them off a USB stick but can't see them over the network.
I think I made a mistake buying LG but the horrible WM Player isn't helping any. WD has its problems too as it can't handle the more compressed FLV formats.

Hi,
I recently purchase a DIY desktop computer but it does not come with a firewire port. I installed one on the pci slot and it was detected by the computer.
Now when I pluged in a 6 to 4 pin firewire cable to my DV cam, I could not do a capture in either the Movie Maker or Premier Elements. It says 'no capture device detected'.
I checked on the hardware under device manager, and it shows that the firewire card is working properly.
I also tried using the USB port on the DV cam to capture, but it was not detected. I heard that it requires a seperate driver from JVC manufacturer. My Cam model is GR-D270.
I would appeciate alot for any answer to my problems.

I bought this Elgato capture card yesterday and I've been trying to get it to work. I've updated my driver, and changed the video quality on both of my monitors, along with the profile (quality) on the software but I keep getting this message:

I don't know what it means by "video output format" but I want to be able to record off of it, so thank you in advance if you know how to help me.

A:Elgato Capture Card: Won't capture anythng

I'm not familiar with it. But based on the image, there is no input signal (upper right box - Game Capture HD "no signal").

So the error is likely trying to tell you to change the output video type of whatever you have connected.
